we can do it right

Top: The eternal-WIP undeveloped beach lot in GilsCarburg, before making a ton of plants and stuff visible in hood view. Including the Maxis seaweed; I can’t believe they didn’t make that hood-visible…

Middle: After said futzing around with hood visibility. Of course, fences will always look crappy in neighborhood view. :p

Bottom: On-lot view, for comparison. Don’t mind the blue squares. They’re fishing spots and are invisible in live mode. That pic was taken in build mode because I didn’t send a Sim to visit it.

I wish terrain paints showed in neighborhood view. But we do what we can, right? :) Now if I can just figure out why Macarossi’s pond rocks are refusing to be hood-visible, I’ll be set. And then it’ll be time to build the surrounding lots. Ugh.

Was Mahiru really a kind person without her demon? She didn't seem to particularly care about anyone other than Guren and Shinoa. Granted, that might just be part of her upbringing (Kureto and Shinya are not exactly kind either). But I felt like the whole "she's kind to the lower clans" was probably part of the facade of perfection she kept up before the apocalypse events. To what degree do you think Mahiru is kind? Where do you think it shows? Not trying to argue or anything just curious :)

Who else would she care for, though?
You do realize she has had a demon withing herself her whole life, right?

And that she took Shinoa’s own to protect her. You know that, right? That Shinoa would have been the very same if she was in her place.
You do understand that, right?

How can we even know how Mahiru could have been when she had been forced to live like that from the beginning and the story isn’t even 100% clear on when exactly she is herself?

Not to mention: I never said she was kind. How could we know?

I’m just fed up with this fandom that defends Guren, Shinya, Kureto and FERID, who are just AS or MORE fucked up, and still, STILL attack on Mahiru and the people who like her.

There are several characters I don’t like, but you don’t see me going around, calling out on the people who like said characters, making annoying posts about them and tagging them (and mikayuu??? why was mikayuu even tagged lmao?).

A reminder:

Chapter 47

Y’all defended Yuu when he did this.

Chapter 48

How long had Yuu spent with his demon, again? A few months?

Case closed.

I just wanted to say never stop writing for Sense8. Whether or not we ever see this show again, we'll keep the fandom alive through fic like yours, art, meta, etc. I love your work!

Thank you!!!!!!!!  I really appreciate this.  I really want to believe we can do something, but you’re right that the fandom can always live on through us.  And I am still constantly overwhelmed by how much love you guys have given me.  I’ve been various fandoms for about 15 years now, since I was 11 years old, and this is seriously the best one I have ever been a part of.  There is so much love and unity here, and you can just feel it in everything this fandom does.  So thank you for supporting me, and I promise I have no plans to quit writing for Sense8.

How do I stop comparing myself to others and feeling like I'm not enough?

That’s a hard one! It’s something I think we all struggle with. I know I do at least from time to time, it’s hard not to when you do youtube. I feel like I’m not doing enough with youtube and I see what others are doing and it makes me feel worse about it.

What I usually try to do is reaffirm the accomplishments I have done or try to reaffirm my belief in myself. That what I’m doing is good in its own right and try to eliminate the though of what others are doing in comparison to myself. I look to you guys and to my friends for support and validation in times of need.

Another good method is to use what others are doing to try motivate you to do more and try harder. It’s easy to sit back and think “Man they’re doing it all and have so many interesting things going on” and let that defeat you but sometimes it’s good to use that as a drive in yourself to do more.

Time isn’t going to wait for any of us. Our time is right now to do what we can and what we want so we should use that time the best we can. It’s not easy and sometimes it feels damn near impossible but anything can be done if you set your mind to it.

this stream was a complete blast thank you so much to everyone who came and hung out!!! we got some real great work in lmao…..

How can you say you love one person when there are ten thousand people in the world that you would love more if you ever met them? But you’ll never meet them. All right, so we do the best we can. Granted. But we must still realize that love is just the result of a chance encounter.

Part of this community is breaking apart and people are starting to hate one another for really stupid reasons. Any advice for all this mess?

I’ve noticed and it’s really disheartening to see.

I think we all need to just think before we write things to each other. Understanding and communication are the key to keeping things civil on a mainly text based platform.

I’ve been guilty of not doing this myself from time to time and for that I apologise. I can get frustrated and phrase things in a way that’s not helpful or productive.  I can’t be here all the time and I can’t answer everything every time I am so it’s up to you guys to keep each other in check and talk among yourselves without attacking or insulting.

We don’t all have to pretend to be happy all the time to avoid rocking the boat or be afraid to speak up when the time is right but we can do so in a respectful way that helps us all learn and grow. I am definitely going to try harder in that regard and I hope we all can :)

my tablet was broken for like a week but! im back! and i drew nina as a princess because thats basically what she is already

also! i tried to record this as a speedpaint and i kinda messed up but you can watch it here if you’d like !

Hello! How would you write a dialogue in which a character is freaking out about something? I generally have them word vomit but I don't really like that style. If its too much could you show me an example as well?

Hi!

You could definitely word vomit – especially if your character is hysterical – but that’s not the only way to do it by any means. I know a few other ways.

1. Calmly.
This is strange, considering your character is freaking out, but the freak-out is internal – they’re shutting themselves off due to shock. In this case, they would be quiet, sane, and even if what they’re saying is illogical, it would probably sound reasonable.

“I was right there when she shot him. He dropped like a sack of flour. I figured he was gone as soon as the bullet hit his chest. So now I’ve decided I’m gonna go after her. Right now. And I’m gonna kill her.”
“What? You can’t do that!”
“Sure I can. She killed him, so I kill her. It’s called justice.”
“But- With just your bare hands?”
“The way I feel right now, my bare hands are more than enough.”

Notice how the character who just watched their friend die in front of them isn’t yelling, isn’t stuttering, isn’t getting angry or crying – they’re perfectly calm, almost to the point of complete emotional shutdown.

2. Angrily.
Some people get angry when they lose control and freak out – it scares them, and the fear manifests itself as anger. This type particularly happens when they’re upset about something and other characters aren’t taking it seriously or are shrugging off their concerns.

“No! It’s happening tonight! We don’t have time to think, or weigh things, we need to fucking leave! Now!”
“We can’t. You know that, and you’d remember that, if you were thinking straight-”
“I am thinking straight! It’s you who’s fucked in the head. I don’t give a damn what you think we can and can’t do, we need to clear out of here, right this second.”

As you can see, this character is freaking out – their concerns may or may not have a firm foundation, but obviously they are concerned, and that concern is manifesting itself as fury.

3. By stuttering.
For some people, it’s hard to talk when they panic, because their minds race forward ahead of their mouths and they get tongue-tied. I typically see/use this with more anxious characters, or with characters who aren’t typically good at speaking anyways (in other words, who are uncomfortable with talking).

There are a couple of different ways to stutter:
a. Repeat the beginning of each word.

“I tr-tried to s-save him, but he wuh-wouldn’t l-let me … he knew it was g-going to happen. It’s my f-fault!”

(However, keep in mind that this kind of stuttering is more as if you’re character is crying and trying to talk through sobs and hiccups. Please use it sparingly – it can get old fast.)

b. Repeat words.

“No. No, I don’t know what’s going on, Ricky. Ricky, why would I have any idea? Don’t fucking look at me like that, Ricky. Don’t look at me like I’m lying.”

c. Insert filler sounds: “ah”, “uh”, “um”, and/or curse words.

“I, uh, I- fuck. I,ummm, I think maybe, ah, maybe we should leave?”

For more on stuttering – it can be hard to peg correctly – check out this post.

I hope this helps! If you need anything else, please feel free to ask. - @authors-haven

❤HEY INUYASHA FANDOM❤

Let’s watch some Inuyasha episodes together on April 22nd via rabb.it! We can get started around 3pm PST and just keep going for however long, so pop in and out at your leisure~! I’ll post the link on that day, so pass this around, tag your friends, stash some microwave popcorn somewhere for the occasion, keep your eyes peeled, and get hype🍿📽🎬🎥🎞

I appreciate that climate change gets a lot of attention (possibly because it has the potential to have the highest economic costs if left unchecked) but it is my duty to remind everyone that the biggest threat to wildlife and ecosystems today is habitat loss. Not climate change. Not trophy hunting. Not even pollution–though a habitat can become so degraded from pollution that it becomes unusable.

The very best way to curb global destruction of habitat is to implement large-scale changes to our development patterns, energy production, and agricultural system. So be sure to support those efforts politically. You can also support sustainable, multi-use development in your communities(many municipalities talk about community-wide projects at city counsel meetings!). Live densely. Eat less meat. Call out self driving cars for the sprawl-supporting pact with satan that they are. Support public transportation! Don’t support sprawl and McMansions! Recognize that suburbia in general and lawns in particular are a facsimile of greenness that destroy actual usable habitat and replace it with sterile monocultures that require gallons of water, pesticides, and fertilizer to maintain. Stop using products with neonicotinoids altogether. Make your yard wildlife-friendly. Consider a brush pile. Keep your damn cats indoors. Plant native plants. Remove invasive plants. Maybe don’t freak out and call animal control every time you see a bat or snake or coyote in your neighborhood since they were literally there first and we’ve left them no place else to go. Watch out for herps crossing the roads in the breeding season, especially our salamanders. Plant a NATIVE tree. Support your local parks, forests, and waterways, big and small.

“What’s so bad about reposting?”

“It’s easy to make gifs, who cares.“

 Wrong.

And here’s why:

  • Presumably, you’re reposting because you either:

a) don’t have access to the video that’s gif’d because you don’t know where it’s from or you don’t know how to download it. Which already proves that making gifs is difficult because of the time spent video hunting and downloading. (You’d be surprised how hard it is to download videos from certain websites.)

b) don’t have access to photoshop, because you’re not sure how to download it, or you do have it but don’t know how to work it. Which again, proves making gifs is difficult because it’s more than just right clicking then saving as (which is what reposting is - so if you catch yourself doing this, stop!) You have to learn how to use photoshop to actually make a gif, and to actually use photoshop you have to know how and where to download it. Some people even pay for it, and it’s extremely unfair to those that do because something they essentially paid for is getting stolen from them.

  • Gifs are not even just about being able to do the basic load files into stacks or import layers from frames, whichever method of gif making you prefer. Nope. It’s about coloring as well, which makes your gif unique and different from someone else’s. People spend time making their gifs look nice in addition to spending their time looking for the right video and whatnot.

So have some respect for people that do their best to provide you with pretty gifs on your dashboard to reblog >:(

(No, it does not count if you repost someone’s gif and “give credit”, especially if the source is “it’s not mine but I found it on Google”. Tumblr made a beautiful function called a REBLOG. Use it. It’s your best friend.)

Next time you say, “everyone reposts” or “they’re just gifs”, keep in mind making gifs isn’t actually as easy as some people belittle it to be! Try making gifs for yourself and see how hard it is. Really, try.

(And if you’re thinking, “oh making gifs is so easy! I’ve tried it!” then it literally costs you $0.00 to make your own gifs and gain notes through your own hard work. Seriously. Stop taking credit for someone else’s hard work.)

Stopping reposts can happen if you take a step to stop yourself from reposting and letting others know why it’s bad too. If no one tells you what you’re doing is wrong, how would you know what you’re doing isn’t right? One by one, we can all eventually stop reposting because it’s very disrespectful to artists (yes, gif makers are considered artists too). If you want notes, earn them yourself just like how every original content makers do. And even if you can’t make anything yourself, don’t be mean. Support people’s works.

(This applies to everyone that makes original content, fan art, fan fiction, graphics, etc. The steps in between to make them are different, but reposts affect all of us the same. Please stop reposting and respect the artists.)

LOIS:  Look, Clark, I know that I got a little thorny when you raised the red flag on A.C.
CLARK:  I was just trying to look out for you.
LOIS:  And I appreciate it.  I’ve just never had someone to help guide me through the shark-infested ocean of romance. … Not that I can’t fend for myself.
CLARK:  You know, I think I was wrong about our friend A.C.

I love them??? please excuse the bad anatomy I haven’t been drawing people

But what if we got this nice, calm, drama free, mutual and respectful love story that just happens exactly the way it’s supposed to be in the background of everything else blowing up left and right. Of course there would be some small hitches because of all the other drama happening around them, but at the end of the day nothing much would change regarding their feelings for each other.

Wouldn’t that be beautiful and refreshing?

Just them falling slowly in love, respecting each others boundaries every step of the way. Building up this really, really strong emotional bond that nothing could break, ever. It’s not a very physical relationship, it doesn’t have to be, all it takes is a glance and they know it won’t matter that the world is falling to pieces around them.
