Flying Observatory Has Big Plans for New Zealand

Our flying observatory, called SOFIA, carries a 100-inch telescope inside a Boeing 747SP aircraft. Scientists onboard study the life cycle of stars, planets (including the atmospheres of Pluto and Jupiter), nearby planetary systems, galaxies, black holes and complex molecules in space.

Flying South

Usually based in California, SOFIA and its team are returning to the Southern Hemisphere to study objects that aren’t visible from the Northern Hemisphere and to take advantage of the long winter nights. The team operates from Christchurch, New Zealand, regularly between June and August and continues with more big plans for this year.

Working with New Horizons

Our SOFIA and New Horizons teams are working together again, to learn more about the next object that the New Horizons spacecraft will fly past, Kuiper Belt Object 2014 MU69, or MU69. This will be the farthest object ever encountered by any spacecraft, but little is known about it. Our team on SOFIA will be searching for possible debris around MU69 that could damage the spacecraft and will measure its size, helping the New Horizons team plan their next flyby.

How We Study Distant Celestial Objects from Earth

Our SOFIA team will study MU69 on July 10, 2017, well before New Horizons arrives in January 2019. We can study this distant object from Earth by flying in the faint shadow that it will cast on Earth’s surface as it passes in front of a star. SOFIA will fly directly into the center of this shadow as it moves across the Pacific Ocean. From inside the shadow, the team onboard will study how the light from the star changes as MU69 passes in front it, allowing them to measure its size and to establish if there are any rings or debris around it. The observations will work in the same way that we studied Pluto using SOFIA two weeks before New Horizon’s Pluto Flyby in 2015.

Observing Other Galaxies

The Magellanic Clouds are neighboring galaxies to our own Milky Way Galaxy. We’re studying how stars are forming in the Large and Small Magellanic clouds to compare those processes to star formation in our own galaxy. The Magellanic Clouds are best observed from the southern hemisphere.

And Supernova 1987A

Inside the Large Magellanic Cloud is Supernova 1987A, the closest supernova explosion witnessed in almost 400 years. Our team onboard SOFIA will continue studying this supernova to better understand the material expanding out from it, which may become the building blocks of future stars and planets. Many of our telescopes have studied Supernova 1987A, including the Hubble Space Telescope, the Chandra X-ray Observatory and SOFIA’s predecessor, the Kuiper Airborne Observatory, but the instruments on SOFIA are the only tools we can use to study the debris around it at infrared wavelengths, to better understand characteristics of the dust that cannot be measured using other wavelengths of light.

Replaceable Part 3!!

Lance was woken by the sound of the castle alarms blaring. He quickly rolled out of his bed and put on his armor. He took a quick look in the mirror to see how he looked. He is eyes were still puffy and red from all the crying, but if any of the others asked, he could simply blame it on the sleep. Running his fingers through his hair to make it look presentable, he took a final glance at his reflection and ran to along to the pounding sound of the alarms. Lance reached the room just as Hunk was. Hunk sent him a small smile, in which he returned. His smile quickly fell however when he turned to look at Keith, who was clearly trying to ignore him, not even looking in his direction. Lance swallowed around the lump in his throat. *No. No more crying.* Allura clapped her hands together, getting the attention of the team. “Okay, Paladins! We’ll be arriving on the planet in just a few ticks, so just a quick reminder that this alliance is very crucial to Voltron and stopping Zarkon. Everyone must be on their best behavior! We have to make sure that we secure this alliance, no matter what!” *Oh yeah…* Lance thought. *I completely forgot about the alliance..* “Princess, we are now landing!” “Thank you, Coran. Alright Paladins! Let’s greet our, hopefully, new alliances!” As Lance stepped onto the foreign planet, he looked around in awe. It was beautiful here. There were enormous, strange looking buildings that looked like skyscrapers. The planet reminded him of New York, only there was a peaceful, calm aura surrounding the place. It was clear to see that this alien race was very civilized and advanced with technology, which also meant weaponry. They would definitely be a powerful ally for Voltron and the fight against Zarkon. Allura led them to a large building that resembled a mansion, but it appeared to be made out of an iridescent, chrome material. Coran stepped forward. “It’s made out of a material that’s virtually indestructible. And you may have noticed that you can’t see into the building, but once you are in the inside, you can see the outside. I believe you have something similar on Earth. Two-way mirror is it?” Pidge nodded with her mouth hung open while the other paladins looked around in awe. “It’s beautiful.” Shiro murmured. Lance nodded in agreement. He could feel the excitement bubble up inside him as they drew nearer to the entrance. When they entered the building, Lance was not disappointed. It appeared as though there was some sort of celebration going on. Hundreds of chandeliers made out of glowing blue crystals hung from the ceiling, creating a soft blue hue to light up the room, giving a calming effect. Rows and rows of tables were lined up, displaying an endless buffet of food Lance had never seen before. The aliens there were all dressed in various ball gowns, some of which seemed to sparkle like it was made entirely out of crystals and jewels. And there was music softly playing in the background. Everything was breathtakingly beautiful. One of the older looking aliens recognized them and walked over to Allura. “Ah, hello Princess Allura. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” Allura bowed deeply. “The pleasures all mine, Queen Lilith. I would like the introduce my Paladins, the team of Voltron.” The Queen’s eyes shined as she gazed at them. “Yes, yes! I would like to thank you for everything you have done so far. The task you have been assigned is very challenging and dangerous. It is quite impressive the things you have accomplished.” The Queen turned to Allura. “Now, I do believe we have business matters to discuss. Paladins, please enjoy yourselves. This party was thrown for you after all.” The team sheepishly gave their thanks. Lance turned to the party, eyes alight. *Finally, time to relax and have some fun!*
~~~~~
Everything was going amazingly. Lance’s belly was stuffed with delicious food, everyone he talked to was incredibly respectful and kind. He was…happy. He smiled genuinely for the first time in what a felt like a very long time. Everything was going perfect. That was until he talked to Hunk. Lance noticed Hunk talking to a trio of female aliens who were all wearing elegant gowns. They were all giggling as Hunk was flushed red and rubbing the back of his neck. Lance knew that look. Hunk was uncomfortable. What kind of friend would he be if he didn’t come in the save the day for his best bud, his right hand man? So, Lance made his way to them. “So, what are you lovely ladies doing this fine evening?” One of them turned and giggled. “Oh, we were just asking Hunk here about his adventures as a Paladin.” The alien let her hand trail down Hunk’s arm. “He’s very strong and brave. And quite cute if I’m being completely honest.” The others around them giggled in agreement. Lance chuckled and shook his head. “Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ladies, but Hunk right here.” He threw an arm around Hunk’s shoulders. “He’s already a taken man.” Lance felt Hunk stiffen underneath his arm. “Lance, what are you-” “And who is the lucky lady to have such a handsome defender of the universe?” One of the girls pouted. “Well beautiful, that would be one rock hard gal by the name of Shay. You see, from the first time Hunk looked at her, he was smitten. You should of heard him-” “Lance, can I talk to you for a second?” Hunk interrupted. Before Lance could reply, Hunk dragged him away from the group, and to a secluded corner. “Hey, what’s up buddy?” Lance grinned. “Don’t ‘buddy’ me.” His smile fell. “What was that all about?!” “Wha-what?” “Who gave you the right to just start running your mouth about my feelings or relationships?” Lance slowly took a step back. “I-I’m sorry, Hunk. You just looked uncomfortable and I thought-” “No. That’s just it. You didn’t think at all.” Hunk gave him a hard look. “Did you ever think how that made me feel? Lance, that was embarrassing! Shay and I aren’t even dating, and the only reason I told you that I liked her is because you’re supposed to be my best friend!” “Hunk, I am your best friend!” “A best friend wouldn’t just spill out the inner most secrets to compete strangers! I thought I could trust you. I guess I was wrong.” Lance could feel the familiar heat behind his eyes. “H-Hunk..” “Just leave me alone, Lance. And just try to think of others feelings before you think of yourself. And stop trying to 'help’ me. You’ve done enough 'helping’ already.” With that, Hunk turned and left. Lance stood frozen, unmoving. Feeling the heat increase and the water beginning to form in his eyes, he quickly left. He had to get out of there. He couldn’t cry in front of these people, he would just ruin the alliance. *Just like I ruin everything else. But where could I go?* Then, someone was calling to him in his mind. *Blue.* Lance ran back to the castle, avoiding his teammates. He couldn’t let them see him like this. When he got to Blue’s hangar, he could already feel himself starting to crumble. The dam behind his eyes cracked and the tears began to flow. He ran to Blue as she lowered her head and open her mouth for him to enter. Lance threw himself into the pilot chair, drawing his knees to his chest and allowing the tears to flow freely. “Blue, why do I have to mess up everything? I try to help, but I just end up making a bigger mess of things. I knew I didn’t belong here. I was never meant to be a paladin of Voltron. I’m just a weak, pathetic, excuse of a pilot. Keith was right. I’ll never be a true pilot of Voltron. All I am is a cargo pilot.” Lance muttered bitterly. Blue tried to send him comforting thoughts, reassuring him that he did belong and that she CHOSE him to be here paladin, but Lance ignored her, letting the grief and shame consume him.
~~~~~
Lance was still in the castle with Blue when he heard a thunderous crash outside, followed by several screams of panic. He ran to the nearest window to see what caused the commotion. When Lance glanced toward the sky, he gaped at what he saw. A large Galra ship was hovering in the air, and it suddenly projected a hologram of a scarred, angry Galra. “Paladins of Voltron, I am here in behalf of Zarkon. We know you’re here! If you do not reveal yourselves, this planet will perish.” Lance watched as Hunk, Pidge, Keith, and Shiro ran outside the building, facing the hologram. “Ah, there you are.” “What do you want from us!?” Shiro shouted. “Hmmm..I actually have a deal to offer.” *A deal..what could he possibly have to offer that would interest us?* Lance pondered. “Do not think we haven’t noticed that you have stolen information from our database, but what caught my attention was what you specifically searched. It appears that you are looking for your fellow species, one that shares DNA to the Green paladin.” Lance gasped as he saw Pidge pale. “Where are they?! What do you know?! TELL ME!!!” Pidge screamed. “Haha, be patient gremlin. We do have the information about these humans you are looking for, possibly even their coordinates. But in exchange for your the information, you have to prove your strength to me and pry the information from myself. Let me see the strength a member of Voltron has.” The others sneered and shouted at the Galra while Lance set his jaw. He knew what he had to do.
~~~~~~
“I’m going.” “No Shiro, if you go, who’ll lead Voltron? There’s a very high chance that whoever goes will not come back alive.” “It’s either I’m going, or no one is going, and that’s final.” The team was still arguing when they were caught off guard by thunderous laughter. “Ahahaha!! It appears we have a challenger!” The team whip around, just in time to see the Blue lion headed straight toward the ship. The Glara ship begins to take off, the Blue lion right on its tail. “LANCE!!” The team ran after them, but they were slowly losing ground. Shiro quickly turned on his communications in his helmet, allowing the others to hear. “Lance! Lance! Do you copy?!” “I hear you loud and clear, Cap!” “Lance, what the quiznak do you think you’re doing?! Get back here right now! That’s an order!!” “Sorry Shiro, but I can’t do that. I’m getting that info.” “Lance, you can’t do this; it’s a suicide mission!!” Shiro screamed desperately. “That’s okay Shiro. I’ll do whatever I can to help my team, especially if it’s concerning their family. I may never get to mine again, so if there is a chance that I can help any of you get back with your family, I’ll always step up to the plate. It’s time that I tried to do something right, instead of being a disappointment to the team and ruining everything. Besides.” Lance chuckles weakly and let’s a few more tears escape, dripping off his chin onto the control panel. “I’m replaceable.”
“She’s a professional, Tony,” Steve said, putting two more ice packs on his knees and wincing slightly as he adjusted them.
Tony stopped walking and looked bewildered at the blonde man. “Yeah? And what the hell are we? We’ve only saved the planet a handful of times but we can’t take down some nimble little assassin?!” His angry words echoed throughout the cavernous lounge of the Avengers compound.
how about a filler episode in which Keith and Lance land on a planet that erases their memories as long as they are there?
The two are confused and have no idea of who they are.
Turns out that without memories, Keith and Lance get along. After the initial freakout, the two start working together to try to remember who they are and where they came from.
Their paladins armour indicates them that they must have known each other prior to all this and they start coming up with theories about their past.
The episode would show us how well they are when they work as a team.
At some point, Lance would say “I bet we were the best duo. Red and Blue, best friends and best partners”.
Lance would even call themselves “space rangers” and Keith agrees with it.
And of course, the moment they manage to leave the planet, their memories come back and they are like “oh, now I remember” and go back to acting like they usual do.
They don’t share with the others their experience. But later on Lance asks if Keith remembers how Lance helped him back there when the two were in that planet and Keith actually would have died if Lance hadn’t saved him in time. Keith just has the most evil grin on his face as he says “Nope, don’t remember, didn’t happen .”
Kathy Johnson Clarke·Friday, November 17, 2017
What’s on my mind? A lot. Here goes.
Predators know their way around good mothers and fathers. They know their way around any environment or program not created specifically to keep them out. If steps aren’t taken to deny a predator, pedophile or abuser access to young people that person can seek out the most vulnerable, naive, trusting, spirited, reckless or rebellious among the unsuspecting.  Just as many of those qualities exist in most young people a skillful predator can use them against their prey.
There has been gross negligence on the part of many, which is what created the culture in which really exceptional kids with unsuspecting parents, many of whom were good, involved, invested, loving parents while some may have been to varying degrees either less involved, caught up in their child’s gymnastics development or success, or simply “flying blind”, completely trusting, and unaware of potential dangers. If people insist on asking or telling victims “why did you, why didn’t you, if only you, if only your mom or dad, didn’t you know…the list goes on and on and on, we will NEVER create the safest possible environment because we are shutting down the very people we need to listen to and learn from.
It’s just not as simple as being “blessed” with a good mother, father, coach or having some super power to ward off anyone seeking to take advantage of you. If we think like that it further shames victims, which is EXACTLY what their abuser depends on. That and fear.
I am truly happy for those left unscathed and whole, but I am in touch with those who were not and are not. It is for them to tell their own stories, but I will remark on one who was lucky. She got spooked by what we now know was “grooming” and done to lure her into trusting her coach’s “methods” to improve her gymnastics. She bolted. Coach told us she had mental problems and it was too hard for her to train and live away from home. We believed him. She left her dream, the place where she was happy and wanted to be, and didn’t tell the other girls because she didn’t know what to say and didn’t want to ruin everyone else’s experience there. It was such a fun place. Fortunately, her father reported it to USGF. Unfortunately, the story gets fuzzy there.
Now I wonder about some of the other girls and the stories I was told about why they abruptly left so many years ago, just as I wonder about the “stories” my teammates heard when I left. I was not a victim of sexual abuse, but I now know some who were. At best, it was a dysfunctional, albeit fun and unique, place to live, train and go after big dreams. At worst, it was a recipe for disaster, a nightmare for some.
Because we normalized what I now know to be grooming type behaviors by creating a big gray area in which we lived, played, trained, joked and grew up, a predator could easily cross over the line without someone noticing. Because there were other types of abuse that were normalized – verbal, psychological and emotional abuse, over-training, over-dieting, under-eating, exhaustion, injuries and questionable motivational methods – most girls didn’t know the difference between healthy and unhealthy, positive or negative reinforcement, and more dangerously, normal grown up behavior and creepy, inappropriate, even criminal behavior. To make matters worse they had no idea how, when or if they should confide in someone, much less to whom they should turn. They simply quit, went home, endured it, developed other issues or problems that masked or hid it, then buried it for years, if not forever.
Now, with that tale in mind insert elite gymnasts, the toughest athletes on the planet, training and sacrificing all to fulfill HUGE dreams to make World and Olympic Teams in an increasingly competitive atmosphere and the “work hard, focus, don’t whine or complain, endure anything and everything you can to be the best you can be” mentality is increased exponentially, and you see where we find ourselves today.
Had it not happened at our National Training Center or to the stars in our sport, and had those incredibly brave young women not had the courage to come forward and speak out for themselves and others who may or may not tell their stories, we could have continued to do too little, too late, to really change the culture that allowed all this to fester and grow.
I believe more will come forward. Please open your ears, eyes, minds and hearts and listen. And as you do, know this:
Abuse is complicated, insidious and achingly more prevalent than people realize. By simplifying it or believing that if only they had done “x” or been “y” or had “z” they would have been safe we do more harm to those who were so damaged by someone they trusted, believed in, and even loved, and more important, we empower the abusers!
Ask yourself, do you WANT abuse victims to keep their painful stories to themselves, to hold on to it forever because it is old news, uncomfortable to hear or about someone you know, like or want to continue to believe in and respect? Two of my coaches are on the banned list. I loved both of them even when they weren’t perfect or hurt me in other ways. I can forgive them for those. But, until they fall to their knees and say how horribly WRONG and deeply SORRY they are to have preyed on my friends, teammates, or fellow gymnasts and offer the entire gymnastics community an apology I stand with and alongside the survivors, and I stand for culture change and bright line rules to educate, prevent, report and prosecute abuse.
anonymous asked:
What are one of the best reasons why Clark & Bruce make the perfect power couple? (; ( btw i'm a superbat fan and i absolutely love your acc )
Thank you, anon! ❤️❤️ :)
To me, the best one by far is just that they’re like the yin and yang of optimism and pessimism, and it’s beautiful, but also the main other highlights for me are:
  • Them being the ultimate tag team in the field
  • Superman dropping in to Gotham while Bruce is fighting the rogues, and criminals getting so blindsided by their obviously-we’re-dating banter that they just give themselves up
  • Just the idea of them trying to have a relationship under their extremely polarising secret identities gives them the best edge ever.
    • Can you imagine how many incidents there must have been where Bruce Wayne shows up at the Daily Planet and everyone’s like “Hehe, Bruce Wayne’s making out with some office bimbo in the supply closet,” and Cat Grant goes to bust them but is seen running out like 2 seconds later screaming at the top of her lungs, “IT WAS CLARK!”
  • The way that knowledge of them dating starts affecting their Superhero identities
    • So Clark starts thinking he’s upped his game because criminals are surrendering to him a lot faster. But really its because everyone found out Batman and Superman are dating and even Metropolis criminals know they should be afraid of that Gotham weirdo
    • However the draw back is that it has the opposite effect in Gotham because now all the Gotham Rogues don’t take Batman too seriously and everyone’s like “He’s got the hots for Superman,’ ME TOO, MAN!” and its driving Bruce crazy but he can’t deny it
  • Also just!! The amalgamation of the supes family and the batfamily! Can you imagine having all that power under one roof!
life-where-life-what-life-how  asked:
Could you please do one where Lance gets insulted by some grand person but the paladins don't notice the comments and Lance just doesn't react? I want him to just not do anything about it. And then the leader tries to do the same thing to Pidge and Lance punches them. Please?
I hope y'all don’t mind, but I kinda combined yours and @mutantgurls ask! I thought they went together really well, and they were kinda similar! I hope y'all like it!!
~~~~~
The team had just saved a planet from an invading Galra fleet, and the ruler of that planet threw a grand party for them in celebration. The music was strange but lively, the team watched in amusement as the inhabitants of the strange planet ‘danced’ with their partners. Everything was wonderful and relaxing for a change. The battle had been quite the challenge. Lance being his sacrificial self knocked Keith out of the way, narrowly avoiding the shower of bullets. Lance knew that it was reckless, but was willing to do anything for his team, no matter the cost. So yes, the team welcomed to relaxing change. That was until the ruler decided to speak to them.
“Ah Paladins of Voltron! I just wanted to personally thank you for saving our planet!”
Allura respectfully bowed.
“It was our pleasure to defend your planet and stop Zarkon and his followers. Hopefully we can discuss about forming an alliance?”
“Hm? Oh yes yes, but first you must introduce yourselves and eat your fill! You’ve deserved it!”
The team all said their thanks and began to make their way to the spread of food. The ruler suddenly grabbed Lance by the arm, pulling him back. “Blue Paladin, do you mind if I had a quick word?”
Lance gave him a confused look but nodded. “Of course, you’re majesty.”
The ruler’s eyes suddenly turned dark. “I do not believe you are fit to be a Paladin of Voltron.”
Lance’s eyes widened as he jaw fell open.
“Excuse me?”
“You piloting skills are minimum and you are too reckless. A true Paladin of Voltron would fly with dignity and elegance, which is the exact opposite of you. I do believe the Princess could find a more fitting candidate for the position. If you are the best Allura can find, I do have great doubts about the fate of the universe.”
Lance set his jaw and bit his tongue, not wanting to anger and disrespect the planet’s ruler and ruin their chances about forming an alliance. The team began to walk back to them, not hearing the conversation. The ruler’s eyes turned bright once more as he greeted the team once more.
“Ah Princess! I hope you enjoyed yourselves! The Blue Paladin and I were just discussing your choices on the Paladins of Voltron.”
Allura’ face became guarded, cautiously raising an eyebrow. “Oh?”
“Yes. We were discussing on how you could find a better suited for the Blue Lion.”
Allura’s flashed dangerously. “What did you say?”
“Yes yes! The current Blue Paladin’s skills are not what we would expect, so surely he must be temporary until the true Blue Paladin comes along. And another thing, if I am correct, the Red Paladin is part Galra is he not? What does that say about your team Princess? The Galra are untrustworthy, vile creatures that need to be destroyed, along with any…thing that shares their DNA.”
The team stared at the ruler, shocked at his words, frozen in place in disbelief. Lance, however, grit his teeth and clenched his teeth. He was beginning to quicker in anger, like a rubber band ready to snap.
“And as for your Green Paladin. She is just but a child. Do you really expect to put the trust of the universe in the set of a child’s hands? She is like the Blue Paladin. She is reckless, a poor excuse for a pilot, and I’m sure that you could pick bett-” THWACK!!
The ruler fell the the ground, clutching his jaw and nose ran down his nose and mouth. Lance stood over him, knuckles bloody and already beginning to bruise. He knelt near the ruler, grabbing him by his robes and pulling him to his face. “You can bash my name and question my position on the team all you want, but the moment you question the other’s abilities, then you’ve crossed a line. There is no better Paladin for their Lions. Hell, the Lions CHOSE them as their pilots! You questions Keith because he’s part Galran? Are you fucking kidding me?! He’s the best pilot on this team, and it’s disgusting that you would doubt and hate him just because of his heritage.”
The ruler just gazed at him, eyes wide and mouth hanging open.
“And as for Pidge? She’s the smartest person I know, and she’s a great pilot. And I can guarantee that she is smarter than you will everyone in your entire lifetime.”
Lance pulled him closer to his face, sneering at him.
“Never question my team. We saved your planet, risking all of our lives, and what do we get? If this is how you treat everyone who has saved your planet, you’re no better than Zarkon and his fleet.”
Lance threw him back to the ground, storming off toward the castle, not waiting for the others and pushing past the crowd.
Allura gave the ruler a shit-eating grin, leaning over his body still on the ground.
“I couldn’t have said it better myself. Lance is a perfect Blue Paladin, and his is the most loyal teammate I have ever know. Never question my team and my decision of the Paladins of Voltron. Team? I do believe it is time we leaves this horrid ruler and his planet.” The team turned away from him, Shiro flipping him off while Keith ran his thumb across his neck and Pidge stuck out her tongue.
“Oh and one more thing. You can forget about the alliance. I would hate for Voltron to be associated with such a disrespectful
place.”
With that, the team went back to the castle, proud of their true Blue Paladin.

@ohwhataprettypinkhat I appreciate you asking anything, and hope you enjoy the fic!

Lance groaned loudly when Allura’s voice came over the speakers, calling the paladins to the control room. They had gone on mission after mission for a week, and his body was about ready to give up whether he liked it or not. He reluctantly dragged himself up from his bed and wandered to meet the others, bones creaking in protest.

“Glad to see everyone is up and at them!” Coran piped cheerily; he was met with several pairs of sleep-deprived and cranky eyes. “Please say we’re going to the space mall or something,” Lance said, stretching luxuriously. “Hate to agree, but I don’t think I want to see anything purple ever again,” Keith grumbled. Allura brought up a large map, and the paladins inspected the glowing screen as she explained.

“Today is indeed a peaceful trip. There is a planet nearby with a species known to be friendly, and we’ll be going to negotiate an alliance.” A chorus of relieved sighs met her words, and she turned around with a solemn gaze. “This is an important mission despite its lack of violence, so I’ll need everyone,” she glared at Lance, “to take it seriously and be on their best behavior.” “You know me, princess! It’ll be a piece of cake,” Lance said, waving his hand dismissively.

Rest under the cut!

Thoughts into a Reality (A Langst AU Mashup Fic)

Part 1: Part 2:

Part 3:

“Alright everyone, I know that this is a very difficult time for us now that Lance is gone, but we need to figure out what to do now that he is away. We need to find a temporary replacement until we get him back somehow.” Allura instructed. It had been a solid week since Lance had left Voltron. Tension filled the castle constantly as everyone took their time to cope with the loss of a friend.

“Why don’t you just take over piloting Blue again? You have experience flying her, you have a bond with her, it’s the quickest solution” Keith’s voice cut through the air. Everyone seemed to agree since she obviously had chemistry with piloting the lion. Allura pondered for a moment before she made her choice.

“We will see what Blue will allow. She has kept her barrier up since Lance left so we will see if she opens up for anyone and if she does, that’s who will pilot her. I don’t know if she will allow me to pilot her again.” She responded, standing from her seat. Everyone stood from their chairs and followed her as she made her way to Blues hangar. No one spoke as they made their way through the castle, it was too quiet for comfort, without Lance present to break the tension with some stupid joke that would annoy everyone but secretly they all enjoyed his humor.

Now standing in front of Blues barrier Allura held her hand up to it, seeing if she would open up to her. Nothing happened, Coran and Matt stood to the side, they understood why it wouldn’t open for her. She had been one of the team who had hurt Lance all this time. Paladin after paladin attempted to open her barrier but to no avail. The Lion sat, silent, responding to no one’s attempts to gain her trust. This was until Coran and Matt were told to try. Coran shoved Matt to try before him.

Sleeping Beauty (Pt 2)

(Find part one here!)

Pidge was excited– elated! She loved capture the flag. She played against her brother all the time. So it was no different when she had Shiro as a partner. “Aw, Shiro, I’m great at this game! We’ll win for sure!” Her famous cats grin tugged at her cheeks.

Shiro wasn’t always great at games. In fact, he would only ever have a chance when it was video games. “Yeah… for sure.” He tried to put on a brave face for his smaller companion. “So what was our object again?” Shiro scratched the back of his head.

“Coran said it was a… a…” she couldn’t recall the name of the object so she took out the picture Coran gave them. It looked like a feather. Harmless, easy.

“Oh we got this in the bag.”

Hunk and Keith however knew they were in a little more trouble. According to Coran, they were looking for a “flipsnere” and it was always in a box that could camouflage. “Oh quiznack…” The red and yellow paladins groaned.

“Who’ do you think is going to be the one to… switch sides?” Keith asked— secretly hoping it wasn’t going to be him.

“Beats me man. You know, I think Coran and the Princess are doing this because we need to be prepared if something goes wrong? Right? That’s something they would do.” Hunk put his hands behind his head and shrugged. He didn’t really like capture the flag back home but with the changed rules of this game, he still wasn’t head over heels about.

"It’s gonna be okay buddy.” Keith attempted to reassure Hunk with a small smile. “We’ll still be friends after right?”

"Of course man.” Hunk nodded back.

Allura was at the bridge looking through all of the castle to find the missing Blue paladin. “Quiznack.” She scowled. “He’s skipping necessary time to bond with the team. He’s always deliberately trying to disobey me!” She shut down the feed after seeing nothing.

Coran came back from trying Lances room and shook his head at the princess. “Lance can’t have left. The blue lion is still here and all of the escape pods are present. Not even the air lock has been open!” Coran sighed. He rather liked Lance. They had bonded a while ago over missing home and from there, their friendship progressed. They would always make mustache jokes or okay games together. When Lance decided to clean Blue, Coran came to either help or talk. They asked each other questions about their planets and lives before this. Lance was Coran’s best friend.

And it hurt him that nobody was going to attempt to look for Lance.

“Coran we will deal with it later. For now we need to focus on what’s more important today.” Allura held her head high, turning back to the control panel and yelling over the system: “Let the came begin!”

Both teams had heard Allura and started running in any direction. Coran had given them a map of where the object was in a general area. Pidge took the lead in front of Shiro, she new a couple shortcuts.

Hunk and Keith ran towards the back of the castle ship where you could descend into the lower levels.

Lance’s nightmare hit him like a truck. He was in the same spot only a new galra with white hair and pupils in his yellow eyes stood before him. He opened his mouth to say something but Lance couldn’t hear it on a count of being stabbed in the back of his suit many times. He screeched in agony and fell to the floor when it stopped.

He still couldn’t get up. He couldn’t open his eyes. He was trapped in an endless loop of nightmares and the scariest of all was watching his team give the blue paladin helmet to Pidge’s brother.

Once again Lance cried out for help.

Once again nobody would hear him.

Trappist-1 Nasa announcement: We could find alien life within 10 years on newly discovered planets

Seven potentially habitable exoplanets have been discovered in a solar system 40 light years away and, should it exist, we could find evidence of alien life within the next decade. Nasa hosted a press conference on 22 February to reveal the findings of the new study which was a multinational collaboration between top space scientists.

Trappist-1 exoplanets and alien life: 5 things you need to know about the Nasa announcement

Atmospheric rivers snake through dangerous and extreme storms

The planets orbit the ultra-cool dwarf star TRAPPIST-1. While three planets had previously been identified within the solar system, further monitoring revealed the presence of four more exoplanets. Through these observations, scientists were able to calculate their masses – showing they are roughly Earth-sized and are probably rocky.

Researchers published their findings in the journal Nature. Study author Michael Gillon said: “This is the first time so many planets of this kind are found around the same star. They form a very compact system – they are very close to each other and very close to the star – reminiscent of the moons around Jupiter. The star is so small and cold that the seven planets are temperate, which means they could have some liquid water hosting life on the surface.”

Mysterious Tully Monster was a weird creature but not a fish

What is even more exciting is that three of the planets sit within the star’s habitable zone. This is the region where it would be neither too hot nor too cold for liquid water to be a constant feature. Because of the nature of the star and the solar system, researchers – with current technology – will be able to study the climate and chemical composition of the atmospheres of the seven planets.

Six biodiversity hotspots claimed to be on brink of ecosystem collapse

Amaury Triaud, another author on the study, explained: “The first stage we are doing is a reconnaissance stage to rule out the planets that have a large hydrogen envelope. This is to make sure they are indeed Earth-like. This will be followed by detailed observations to study the climate and eventually from the chemical formation to try to find out if there is life there. We can expect that within a few years we will know a lot more about these planets and we hope, if there is life there, maybe within a decade.”

The Trappist-1 solar system

Unlike our solar system, the planets orbiting Trappist-1 are very close to their star. Indeed, if they were in our system, they would all be found closer to the Sun than Mercury. However, because the star is far cooler than the Sun, it produces far less energy. This means that for liquid water to exist, planets need to be closer to the star.

All of the planets are tidally locked, meaning one side of a planet is always facing the star, while the other is always facing away (so it is either perpetual daytime or night-time). This is not necessarily a bad thing for the potential for alien life, Gillon said. “They would still be able to efficiently transport heat from the day side to the night side. So you have a source. Night is colder but not so cold that it would make the atmosphere collapse and be impossible for habitability. It’s not catastrophic for life.”

Ultra-cool dwarf stars like Trappist-1 release energy at a far lower rate than stars like our Sun. Scientists estimate it is probably older than half a billion years old. It burns hydrogen so slowly that it will live for around another 100 trillion years.

Which planets are best suited for life?

The three planets the team are most hopeful about in terms of their habitability are Trappis 1e, f and g. “Theoretically you could have liquid water on the seven planets, but three are in the habitable zone – which means with our climate modelling, these planets could have liquid water all over the surface,” Gillion said. “These three are more likely to have liquid water because the temperature is fine. It doesn’t mean they have liquid water. It will really depend on the atmospheric properties. But we will be able to study them in detail.”

Triaud added: “My take is that Trappist 1f is likely the more interesting one. It’s about the size of Earth, is a bit cooler but with the right atmosphere and of greenhouse gasses, the temperature should be fine. This is a very speculative question [though]. We don’t know how life emerges. If life emerges in an ocean and there is an ocean there I don’t see a problem. Water can shield from any radiation. If life is borne elsewhere maybe the conditions are different.”

Why is this system our best bet at finding life?

The atmospheres of the planets around Trappist 1 can be studied with existing technology. This means that in the very near future, researchers will be able to find out if any have conditions suitable to hosting life. If we do find conditions similar to what we have on Earth, the team say this would mean we could be 99% confident of the discovery of alien life.

Triaud said: “We’ve made a crucial step towards finding if there is life out there. I don’t think any time before we’ve had the right planets to find out if there was. Here, if life managed to thrive and releases gasses similar to that what we have on earth, then we will know. Before it was indications, now we have the right target.”

Gillion continued: “This is not in a few decades that we can do this. We are doing this now. People will get more and more news about this system in the coming months and years. The story is just beginning.”

ohmoooygodd we DO need a musically episode or just an episode where lance sings something himself in gneral im crying hes an angel

HONESTLY

if there was a musical episode, i want Lance to sing about so many things

i want his song to be entirely from his point of view, first i want him to introduce himself and be all like “the best slash handsomest pilot of the bunch~!” or something like that, and then sing about his motives for being a paladin (being a cool space ranger guy with a bad ass team, how he’s looking for The One, protecting his home planet and family that he misses dearly…), but then he sings about how he feels like his team is family now and he specifies what’s unique and wonderful about each and everyone of them and how he feels about them individually, and then he switches back to himself and is like “and i guess nobody thinks the same about me~…”

Whether you like it or not, the latest Fast & Furious is just as important to the cinema landscape as The Last Jedi or Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. And because I know a lot of people who will never watch anything that features the rapper Ludacris traveling at over 100 miles per hour, I will give you this handy guide to a series that I love.

Dominic Toretto is Vin Diesel’s greatest role, and he speaks entirely in quotes that would go on the back of an airbrushed T-shirt. Also, he’s fucking amazing, and is literally the best dude on the planet. No one has moral superiority like Dom does. Dom would beat Santa Claus in a war over who is a bigger benefit for humanity.

Brian is Dom’s tag team partner. He’s the heart of the series, which means that Dom is the brains. Surprisingly, it totally works. Letty is Dom’s “ride or die,” and she’s a perfect fit for Dom because they balance each other out. Dom is all like “We have a plan to shoot these cars into orbit so that we can steal space gold,” and Letty responds by ramping her Ford GT40 off the moon.

One time, Lance saved a young female alien in a Galra attack on her planet.

A couple of months later, the team got an royal invitation from the SAME planet requesting their presence for the wedding of their Princess, the same girl she saved back then.

He was her best man and the team cried so hard during his speech.

“This right here is what we do what we do; for love and the hope for a better tomorrow.”

Do you think the speculation of the Ruby Squad sent to Earth could've been the elite. I mean they wouldn't send just any Rubies, your thoughts.

Anonymous said:
I have to ask about the rubies, I mean in regards to them being possible elites. Just look at veteran Eyeball and cunning Navy, just two of the five. Do you think they could be elites, why send 1 out of 5 experienced rubies to Earth. Except Leggy.

So I’ve received two asks asking about a specific word: Elite.

And I don’t know about that word because it’s never mentioned in-show. That means that it carries a lot of the baggage and connotations of our world. Elite would refer to the highest, the best.

For me, it insinuates that this Ruby Squad is the best Ruby Squad there is on Homeworld. And the reasons for this are that 1) It’s Earth. 2) Eyeball and Navy know what they’re doing.

I’ll talk about the latter point first. I feel like Homeworld aspires for higher standards than the bare minimum. Saying that Eyeball is a veteran is not saying a whole lot. I’m all for declaring the competency of the Ruby Squad. It’s something I’ve been reiterating over and over that Homeworld trains its gems and makes sure they can get the job done because they can’t afford to keep wasting resources in failure.

Nonetheless, the point often cited is that Navy was able to deceive the Crystal Gems in Room for Ruby, which the CGs were able to do easily, twice, without much effort. That’s not saying a lot for the Ruby Squad except that on the third try, they finally wised up and beat the CGs at their own game.

Eyeball’s attacking Steven, and Navy’s flinging them out of the plane were signs they were upset and angry and spiteful which is something people tend to be after being sent on two wild goose chases by the same people. But other than that, they did exactly what their job entailed.

My point is, Rubies are guards. They were sent to retrieve and guard Jasper. They were assigned to guard nobility like Sapphire. These are important gems, and they aren’t all trained to fight, again, like Sapphire. Rubies have to be competent, or the rare aristocratic gems with special war-winning abilities would have been assigned other gems as guards at this point.

I’m not incredibly surprised at all that they were able to pull one out from under the CGs because the CGs had drastically underestimated them at this point.

As for their location being Earth, the Diamonds still think Earth is a relatively safe place. Save for the emerging Cluster, they don’t think there’s a threat. That’s why they sent a lone civilian the first time around, Peridot. And even when Jasper went missing, it wasn’t a threat of other gems that caused them to send for a rescue team. It was because of the Cluster, which hadn’t hatched yet to the best of their knowledge.

Blue Diamond visited Earth herself without guards to escort her. That’s how safe the Diamonds think the planet is. So I don’t think Earth is a huge factor in sending their best team.

If there’s anything to take away from this post, it’s really that we should be expecting more of Homeworld and the forces they send. SU has shown us that Homeworld isn’t playing Bond villain. The Diamonds aren’t irrationally destroying everything that irks them and their citizens aren’t bumbling henchmen. They don’t have a huge self-destruct button for their own base that anyone can waltz up to and press. They are an organised civilisation much older than those of Earth and there’s a reason they’ve been able to sustain such rapid technological progress. It’s not to say the Ruby Squad isn’t good at their job, but I’d be hard pressed to say they’re the best.

Close Views Show Saturn’s Rings in Unprecedented Detail

Newly released images showcase the incredible closeness with which NASA’s Cassini spacecraft, now in its “Ring-Grazing” orbits phase, is observing Saturn’s dazzling rings of icy debris.

The views are some of the closest-ever images of the outer parts of the main rings, giving scientists an eagerly awaited opportunity to observe features with names like “straw” and “propellers.” Although Cassini saw these features earlier in the mission, the spacecraft’s current, special orbits are now providing opportunities to see them in greater detail. The new images resolve details as small as 0.3 miles (550 meters), which is on the scale of Earth’s tallest buildings.

Cassini is now about halfway through its penultimate mission phase – 20 orbits that dive past the outer edge of the main ring system. The ring-grazing orbits began last November, and will continue until late April, when Cassini begins its grand finale. During the 22 finale orbits, Cassini will repeatedly plunge through the gap between the rings and Saturn. The first finale plunge is scheduled for April 26.

For now, the veteran spacecraft is shooting past the outer edges of the rings every week, gathering some of its best images of the rings and moons. Already Cassini has sent back the closest-ever views of small moons Daphnis and Pandora.

Some of the structures seen in recent Cassini images have not been visible at this level of detail since the spacecraft arrived at Saturn in mid-2004. At that time, fine details like straw and propellers – which are caused by clumping ring particles and small, embedded moonlets, respectively – had never been seen before. (Although propellers were present in Cassini’s arrival images, they were actually discovered in later analysis, the following year.)

Cassini came a bit closer to the rings during its arrival at Saturn, but the quality of those arrival images (examples: 1, 2, 3) was not as high as in the new views. Those precious few observations only looked out on the backlit side of the rings, and the team chose short exposure times to minimize smearing due to Cassini’s fast motion as it vaulted over the ring plane. This resulted in images that were scientifically stunning, but somewhat dark and noisy.

In contrast, the close views Cassini has begun capturing in its ring-grazing orbits (and soon will capture in its Grand Finale phase) are taking in both the backlit and sunlit side of the rings. Instead of just one brief pass lasting a few hours, Cassini is making several dozen passes during these final months.

“As the person who planned those initial orbit-insertion ring images – which remained our most detailed views of the rings for the past 13 years – I am taken aback by how vastly improved are the details in this new collection,” said Cassini Imaging Team Lead Carolyn Porco, of Space Science Institute, Boulder, Colorado. “How fitting it is that we should go out with the best views of Saturn’s rings we’ve ever collected.”

After nearly 13 years studying Saturn’s rings from orbit, the Cassini team has a deeper, richer understanding of what they’re seeing, but they still anticipate new surprises.

“These close views represent the opening of an entirely new window onto Saturn’s rings, and over the next few months we look forward to even more exciting data as we train our cameras on other parts of the rings closer to the planet,” said Matthew Tiscareno, a Cassini scientist who studies Saturn’s rings at the SETI Institute, Mountain View, California. Tiscareno planned the new images for the camera team.

Launched in 1997, Cassini has been touring the Saturn system since arriving in 2004 for an up-close study of the planet, its rings and moons, and its vast magnetosphere. Cassini has made numerous dramatic discoveries, including a global ocean with indications of hydrothermal activity within the moon Enceladus, and liquid methane seas on another moon, Titan.

The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, ESA (European Space Agency) and the Italian Space Agency. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, manages the mission for the agency’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. JPL is a division of Caltech in Pasadena. The Cassini imaging operations center is based at Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colorado.

TOP IMAGE….Moon Waves and Moon Wakes This Cassini image features a density wave in Saturn’s A ring (at left) that lies around 134,500 km from Saturn. Density waves are accumulations of particles at certain distances from the planet. This feature is filled with clumpy perturbations, which researchers informally refer to as “straw.” The wave itself is created by the gravity of the moons Janus and Epimetheus, which share the same orbit around Saturn. Elsewhere, the scene is dominated by “wakes” from a recent pass of the ring moon Pan.

Two versions of this image are available. This is a lightly processed version, with minimal enhancement, preserving all original details present in the image. The other version (Figure 1) has been processed to remove the small bright blemishes caused by cosmic rays and charged particle radiation near the planet – a more aesthetically pleasing image, but with a slight softening of the finest details.

The image was taken in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft wide-angle camera on Dec. 18, 2016. The view was obtained at a distance of approximately 34,000 miles (56,000 kilometers) from the rings and looks toward the unilluminated side of the rings. Image scale is about a quarter-mile (340 meters) per pixel.

CENTRE IMAGE….The Propeller Belts in Saturn’s A Ring This image from NASA’s Cassini mission shows a region in Saturn’s A ring. The level of detail is twice as high as this part of the rings has ever been seen before. The view contains many small, bright blemishes due to cosmic rays and charged particle radiation near the planet.

The view shows a section of the A ring known to researchers for hosting belts of propellers – bright, narrow, propeller-shaped disturbances in the ring produced by the gravity of unseen embedded moonlets. Several small propellers are visible in this view. These are on the order of 10 times smaller than the large, bright propellers whose orbits scientists have routinely tracked (and which are given nicknames for famous aviators).

The prominent feature at left is a density wave created by the ring’s gravitational interaction with the moon Prometheus (the 12:11 resonance). Density waves are spiral-shaped disturbances (similar to the spiral arms of galaxies) that propagate through the rings at certain distances from the planet. (For more about density waves, see PIA09894)

Three versions of this image are available. This image is a lightly processed version, with minimal enhancement, preserving all original details present in the image. A second version has circles to indicate the locations of many of the small propellers in the image (Figure 1). The third version has been processed to remove the bright blemishes due to cosmic rays and charged particle radiation – a more aesthetically pleasing image, but with a slight softening of the finest details (Figure 2).

The image was taken in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft wide-angle camera on Dec. 18, 2016. The view was obtained at a distance of approximately 33,000 miles (54,000 kilometers) from the rings and looks toward the unilluminated side of the rings. Image scale is about a quarter-mile (330 meters) per pixel.

LOWER IMAGE….Saturn’s B Ring, Finer Than Ever This image shows a region in Saturn’s outer B ring. NASA’s Cassini spacecraft viewed this area at a level of detail twice as high as it had ever been observed before. And from this view, it is clear that there are still finer details to uncover.

Researchers have yet to determine what generated the rich structure seen in this view, but they hope detailed images like this will help them unravel the mystery.

In order to preserve the finest details, this image has not been processed to remove the many small bright blemishes, which are created by cosmic rays and charged particle radiation near the planet.

The image was taken in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft wide-angle camera on Dec. 18, 2016. The view was obtained at a distance of approximately 32,000 miles (51,000 kilometers) from the rings, and looks toward the unilluminated side of the rings. Image scale is about a quarter-mile (360 meters) per pixel.

BOTTOM IMAGE….Straw in the B Ring’s Edge This image shows a region in Saturn’s outer B ring. NASA’s Cassini spacecraft viewed this area at a level of detail twice as high as it had ever been observed before.

The view here is of the outer edge of the B ring, at left, which is perturbed by the most powerful gravitational resonance in the rings: the “2:1 resonance” with the icy moon Mimas. This means that, for every single orbit of Mimas, the ring particles at this specific distance from Saturn orbit the planet twice. This results in a regular tugging force that perturbs the particles in this location.

A lot of structure is visible in the zone near the edge on the left. This is likely due to some combination of the gravity of embedded objects too small to see, or temporary clumping triggered by the action of the resonance itself. Scientists informally refer to this type of structure as “straw.”

This image was taken using a fairly long exposure, causing the embedded clumps to smear into streaks as they moved in their orbits. Later Cassini orbits will bring shorter exposures of the same region, which will give researchers a better idea of what these clumps look like. But in this case, the smearing does help provide a clearer idea of how the clumps are moving.

This image is a lightly processed version, with minimal enhancement; this version preserves all original details present in the image. Another other version (Figure 1) has been processed to remove the small bright blemishes due to cosmic rays and charged particle radiation near the planet – a more aesthetically pleasing image, but with a slight softening of the finest details.

The image was taken in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft wide-angle camera on Dec. 18, 2016. The view was obtained at a distance of approximately 32,000 miles (52,000 kilometers) from the rings and looks toward the unilluminated side of the rings. Image scale is about a quarter-mile (360 meters) per pixel.

Ptolemaic Aspects

The aspects symbolize the relationship between the planets. Aspect comes from the Latin world ‘aspectare’ which is ‘too look at’. In the same way, the chart aspects indicate the way the planets are ‘looking’ at one another. The blue lines on the horoscope and represent ‘outlets’ or release valves for the signs while the red lines present tension and back-flow. The aspects keep the planets talking to each other and communicating, the planet and sign in question will take on the qualities of planets it makes aspects with. Red lines of tension can deplete resources and vital forces, while blue lines generate flowing cohesion. So for example Moon in the fourth as a singleton (making no aspects) can represent a close relationship of comfort and security with the mother as god through the eyes of the child. But if this fourth house Moon makes aspects to Uranus, the mother could have disappeared for long periods, or maybe there are aspects to Neptune which indicate that the mother was a martyr who suffered mental disturbance. These forces work together to paint a clearer picture of the expression, and planets in aspect will bring out what the planets have in common. The aspects are like playing the grand cosmic piano. The planets are the keys, the signs are the tones and the aspects joining each create the spectacular astrological orchestra.

Conjunction (0 degrees orb: 10 degrees) : A conjunction is like two best friends who do everything together. They have similar interests and both like directing their talents into the same focal point. This is like having two or more planets in the same sign and often the same house, like having both Moon and Mars together in Leo in the 4th house. Together they make a perfect team with a generous and fluid flow of qualities. We tend to have a natural flow of talents from conjunct signs and identify closely with the focus, especially if conjunctions are made to the Sun, Moon, or ascending sign.

An orb that is too far apart to be a powerful conjunct (wider than 15 degrees) you could interpret this as being like two people who live in a duplex… they are in the same building, they are aware of eachother’s presence, but they do not have too much of an impact on one another… there will be a somewhat acceleration of energies but nothing like the sublime fluidity of talents when there is a tight conjunction

Sextile (60 degrees orb: 4 degrees)

A sextile is like two people who have just gotten married, they are exploring each other and their new territory together. With sextiles, the ego is good at inventing creative ways to resolve predicaments. Liz Greene suggests planets that make sextile aspects represent potential talents and gifts which need attention and work. It could be like this newly married couple learning how to work as a team and unlock the unique energy blend that they both share. A Sun in Virgo makes a sextile to Pluto in Scorpio.

Square (90 degrees orb: 8 degrees)

A square is like two contrasting people applying for the same once in a lifetime job - and there is only one going! It’s like a wrestle, a tense tussle. Often one planet will dominate the square, and this tends to be the more powerful one. Squares usually make aspect patterns and tie the planet to three or four others. Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn make a square aspect. Forces must be reconciled with squaring planets. It isn’t like an opposition where we switch positions of consciousness. With the square, certain qualities are inaccessible while the dueling expression can be frenetic and uncontrollable. Squares, without cohesion can indicate two or more planets that can’t control their arguing and distract the rest of the vital forces. This is an inner battle, think of the term ‘squaring’ off with someone, but it is you!

Trine (120 degrees - orb: 6 degrees)

A trine is an aspect of facilitation. It is like two close relatives, an auntie and a niece, who get along well and help each other reach their potential. They share a lot of similarities and naturally feel at ease together. There is a favorable fusion of qualities and an ease of collaboration, they just seem to ‘flow’ from the person. Traits and talents expressed by the trine aspect can become like second nature, emanated from the individual without a second thought. Trines can represent certain features of our personalities and talents we take for granted. A lot of activity and healing can be facilitated with the trine aspect. Moon in Cancer aspecting Pluto in Scorpio makes a trine.

Opposition (180 degrees orb: 10 degrees)

An opposition is an aspect of tension that can become a harmony if the inner work is done. An opposition is like a fraternal twin sister. She is very much like you but there is tension because you go about the same things in an opposite manner. You can be throttled back and forth switching positions of consciousness through an internal war. When you find a way to work together you make the most brilliant team. Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius make an opposition. I call opposition signs ‘sister signs’, because they represent the polarity and duality of one another, together they can unleash the greatest archetypal potential. Two becomes one as the shadow aspect of the psyche is cast into light.

Unaspected Planets: Planets can still be unaspected if they make wide generational orbs. Liz Greene in one of her excellent books, gives an extreme example of an unaspected planet in action. She refers to the unaspected planet as “an unconscious pocket in the psyche.” She says, “An unaspected planet is very raw and archaic. It has no social graces, but behaves as though it had just been let out of a very old prison.” And further on in the book, “Often there is a kind of blank space and the individual is sometimes very ignorant of that side of himself until it erupts.” Unaspected planets can represent treasure boxes of talent we have not unlocked yet.

BRO I JUST HAD A DREAM ABOUT SEASON 3 AND CAN I JUST RANT ABOUT IT

lemme say this felt SO REAL. like I woke up thinking “man I need to watch the next episode, wait, tHAT WAS A DREAM ?!?! ok so basically they were on an earth like planet: it looked like it was 60s-inspired?? It was complete with a diner and everything and there was a beach n stuff. But I’m not really sure what happened, but something happened where lance got upset about (continued)

  (cont.) where lance got upset that the team wasn’t appreciating/trusting him enough to go on missions on his own, so he got really upset and ran away from the team. Later, an evil dude, probably sent by haggar, starts destroying stuff on the planet and the team was like ok we need to form voltron-wait where’s lance??? then you just see blue rushing in, trying to kill the alien, but instead, oh no, both team voltron and blue get pummeled and lance gets captured (continued)

 (continued) and out of al, the members, keith gets the most upset and angry about lances capture?? The team does their best to do damage but the alien leaves. Then sometime later, keith starts yelling about how they needed to find him immediately, and everyone’s like “dude chill it’s gonna be fine” but eventually there’s a low camera shot of keith CRYING. like legit crying. I’m crying. The tears are just falling out of his eyes and he (continued)

and he whispers “i don’t want him to get hurt…I don’t want to let him down anymore” and hunk and pidge give him a big hug and shiro pats him on the back like “everything’s gonna be alright keith. we’ll find him.” Then keith wipes his eyes and says “ok team voltron. let’s find our sharpshooter.” They fought n stuff at the beach and saved lance BUT I NEVER SAW THE ENDING CLEARLY so anyway im so sorry that was so long but I needed to rant,,, SORRY AAA IT WAS JUST SO GOOD AND REAL

tag yourself i’m the part that says “he’s crying and i’m crying” bc this is me after reading this

Oh a triad, please please, can we now more? Hox does the conversation goes between Anakin and his former Master? Does Cody and Rex need to confort Obi after or does Anakin gives everyone the shovel talk, just to be sure?

Grabbing both Rex and Cody by the front plates, Anakin pressed them both to the wall as he ignored the rest of the men in the hanger, flickering his eyes between both of them. “You make him cry, I will bury you both in karking sand. Do I make myself clear? I will dig a hole as deep as you’re tall and drop you both in it before I shove sand back over you. I’ll then let loose fire ants and pour honey on both your heads. Have I made myself clear?” Blue eyes flickered between each trooper, lips pinched and jaw gritted.

“Yes sir, crystal.” Cody got out, his tone calm and Rex nodded.

As if they’d hurt Obi-Wan but perhaps General Skywalker needed the verbal reassurance because he instantly let his shoulders slump and breath out, pulling back while rubbing his face slowly. “… He deserves to be happy, I know you both make him happy. Just…” He squeezed the bridge of his nose. “Just make him smile a bit more alright? This war is bad enough as it is.”

Rex and Cody traded looks before Rex reached out to his General and squeezed his shoulder, waiting for the blond to look at him. “We love him, we won’t hurt him, we want him to smile and… well we’re hoping to encourage him to bulk up a bit, he’s too skinny.” He said, tone earnest.

That got a small smile out of Skywalker and he nodded. “Good… he’s coming down soon, he said we should get a hunt on for the meat to space out our rations so he’s going to need a hunting team. There’s some omnivores we can hunt down on the planet below… would get the teams down there some…privacy..” The Jedi murmured, taking two more steps back.

Rex looked to Cody, brows raised before smiling faintly. “Really sir, that’s interesting. Me and Cody are quite good at hunting.”

Anakin just snorted and rolled his shoulders before looking around the hanger where troopers were doing their best to look like they were busy. “Mmn, anyhow, get four hunting teams. Obi-Wan will do the rest of the debriefing.”

“Yes sir.” They all watched the Jedi head for the halls and waited five minutes before Fives breathed out.

“Kark I thought you two were goners.” He laughed.

“Oh come on Fives, Skywalkers just looking after Kenobi, you know he wouldn’t really hurt any of us.” Hardcase snorted, sitting on the wing of a figheter. “He likes us, he’s just looking after the General. Honestly that man needs it too.” He offered dryly.

Then he flustered under Cody and Rex raised brow. “W-Well he does sirs, you’d think the man has a death wish sometimes.”

“…He has a point Vod.” Cody grumbled and Rex grunted before everyone went to attention as Obi-Wan entered the hanger.

Watching Obi-Wan skin the animal and gut it, Cody held out the bucket for the edible offal they would be keeping. “One more animal and we’ll be good.” He offered brightly as Rex kept guard in case of predators lured by the blood.

“Yes, which is good.” Obi-Wan chuckled quietly as he continued cutting out the chunks of meat they could eat.

Scavengers would take the leftovers he knew.

Cody kept handing him the boxes that would keep the meat as fresh as possible as he continued working away, his tunic rolled up to his elbows to avoid blood splatter.

“…So Skywalker gave us the shovel talk. I imagine that means the conversation with you two went well.” Cody offered warmly as Rex chortled quietly.

Flustering a bit, Obi-Wan continued cutting up the animal with the viroblade. “Yes well… Anakin is protective over those he considers his. I’m sorry about that.” He mumbled.

Knocking their shoulders lightly together, Cody smiled. “Don’t be. He’d never really hurt us and he just needed some assurance. Like any vod’ika would. Beside it was cute of him to threaten to bury us in sand.” Cody sniggered.

“…Only Anakin would consider that a threat.” Obi-Wan offered in quiet amusement, blushing in pleasure both at how close his lovers were and at Anakin’s actions. Sometimes… just sometimes in this terrible war, there were things that were worth it all.
