we are gonna survive

new genre concept: soft apocalypse

the world as we know it has ended and mother nature starts taking back what’s hers. there are no zombies or cannibals or murderous bandits. the most valued members of the community are those who know how to garden and farm, sew and weave, treat wounds, work wood or build with bricks, cook from scratch.

people bond together to begin rebuilding instead of killing each other. everyone teaches each other whatever they do know and works together to figure out the stuff none of them know. books become incredibly valued resources because they’re often the only way to learn critical information. if someone is elderly, disabled, or otherwise unable to work at the same level as most of the community, they’re taken care of by the others, not told any sort of “survival of the fittest” bs.

as the generations ware on, communities begin expanding into small cities. some of the settlements even find ways to repurpose solar or wind power on a small scale and have electricity in some of their buildings. storytellers wander the countryside telling tales of the old world in return for some hot stew or a place to rest for the night, and the mythos of the new world start to incorporate elements of the past. the only thing that remains constant is that humans survive, and they do it by working together.

CONFESSION:

Does anyone remember that awesome random encounter in Origins where you find a crater with a “mysterious” object at the center and next to it is a couple talking about how it fell from the sky? Then the farmers are just like idk how a baby survived that but we are gonna raise him as our son. I almost died of laughter cause never in a million years did I expect to find baby Superman in the middle of the Blight! Plus you also got a rare crafting material which was pretty freaking sweet.

Hiatus Survival Kit Vol. 3 | Season 12 | BONES

Trying to finish this story, but...

my heart is breaking. This election is incredibly telling about the state of our country, and how comfortable people have become with discriminating against others. I’m disgusted, and I feel a surge of anger that I rarely allow myself to feel. I detest Trump and all that he stands for, and seriously question those who chose him to lead.

But please….please remember this, my friends. Never forget it, no matter the outcome:

The sun will rise, and we will carry on. We will live. We will work. We will fight.

And we will prevail where it counts. In uniting together and supporting each other.

We must remember that we’re not alone, that we’re enough, and that we have each other’s backs.

We will love ourselves and each other. Because once a thing is known, it will never be unknown. And with that knowledge, we cannot be stopped.

I will finish and post this fluffy smut tomorrow, outcome be damned. I will be here tomorrow. Hope to see you there too.

I love you. We got this. No matter what, we got this.

I stood out in the rain for 5 hours today to be the lone protestor in my town. I live in a county that voted Trump and I couldn’t fucking take it. Overall the response was very positive, I only got 3 trump supporters coming up to me and talking to me like I was a child. The people who were happy to see me gave me hugs, cried with me, supportive honks, a girl brought me tea to keep warm, a girl offered me her umbrella, a man took a picture of me to show his daughters, and the owner of a Thai restaurant nearby came up to me and told me “you can eat at my restaurant for free tonight.” It was something I’m glad I did, it was nice to see that people in my community were angry like I was but still so full of love to give. We’re gonna stick together through this and we’re gonna survive, but I still plan to fight this and fight the white supremacy in my area as much as I can.
