Do you remember watching the first episode of SNL after 9/11? What was the vibe like? I've only even seen the cold open with Rudy Giuliani from that episode.

Yes I do. It was difficult, as it was with most shows at the time. I recently watched this episode over again and while I appreciate their effort into trying to get back into what we expect to see from SNL, but the quality of that episode wasn’t good.  I don’t blame them at all, you can tell that the entire cast was still rattled from 9/11 and trying to figure out if it was even right for them to be there and doing comedy again. For it’s time, it’s exactly what we needed as most of us were still sad and needed a break from the depressing news we kept getting at the time and it felt good to see that cast do there best to make us laugh and you could tell that they, just like us, were hurting as well too. But, let this screen cap of the end of Weekend Update of Tina grabbing Jimmy’s hand speak for itself:

Just your gals Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig, wearing the same dress. I mean I know we’re all still freaking out about that amazing SNL episode with Kristen Stewart (also because of the shirt sharing thing). But then I found this and it’s just the best! They both look gorgeous!!!!

for anyone who wants to know, these are the sketches (you can find them on YouTube)

Donald Trump was watching SNL last Saturday and he had a ridiculously sexist response to Melissa McCarthy’s portrayal of Sean Spicer

A story in Politico paints an ugly picture of President Trump’s reaction to the impression. “More than being lampooned as a press secretary who makes up facts, it was Spicer’s portrayal by a woman that was most problematic in the president’s eyes,” begins the explanation.
