Dawn is my little sister. When I was 11 and she was just a tiny baby, I hurt her really badly. I didn’t know what I did was going to cause so much trouble. I just wanted to do something nice. Something that would make us happy.
My parents made me go away for a long time. I didn’t understand why everyone was so angry. I missed my sister terribly. Even worse, I felt betrayed by the people I’d expected to understand me.
After six years of hospitalization, I got to see her again. My parents had passed away in a car accident while I was gone and I went to live with my aunt and uncle. Both were psychologists. Both understood the problem I apparently had. Still, they believed I’d learned to cope with it over the course of my rehabilitation. And they were right. I would never hurt anyone again. The mere thought of it was abhorrent.
The voice that drifts soothingly down the hall is hoarse, but steady. Adam rubs his eyes as he rolls over to check on the clock. It’s two in the morning. The other side of the bed is empty, though it’s not cold yet. Adam yawns and sits up as Justin’s voice comes floating through the open doorway again.
Thank you for the request, Anon! I really loved both songs, but after listening to them, I went with the one that made me smile and tear up a bit, easily able to see the “Harry” in it. I may go back and write the other later after I sift through more of the current requests filling my inbox, but this one had my heart immediately.
I wanted a slight twist on this story to separate from a typical love story, so I extended the love a bit further. I have amazing feel-goods for Daddy Harry. I hope you all like it. This is “Forever Like That” by Ben Rector, and you can find it on my Spotify playlist called I Love You Long Time, HERE. Searching for the acoustic of this as I think that would be so good. I’ll put it on my Acoustic Love playlist if it’s available. :)
Well I’ll be your rainy day lover whenever the sunny days end
And whatever the weather, we have each other
And that’s how the story will end
Well I’ll be your shade tree in summer if you’ll be my fire when it’s cold
And whatever the season, well we’ll keep on breathing
‘Cause we’ll have each other to hold…And I’ll hold you, and I’ll sing
You giggle, watching your 2 ½ year old son and almost-12-month-old daughter tackling their daddy in the floor of the large living room, laughing hysterically at his pleas for help, as you clean the breakfast mess in the nearby kitchen. Days spent at home as a family didn’t come as often as any of you wanted, but you and Harry both treasured the moments when they happened.
When you walk in to find a baby sitting on Harry’s head, and toddler riding airplane-style on Harry’s bent legs, you laugh and walk toward them as Harry sees you enter the room and wraps his hand around one of your ankles.
“Let’s get mumma!” Harry says loudly, as your kids scream and laugh, grabbing at your legs as you tumble gently to the floor around them. Harry looks at you, smoothing your hair with his hand while hugging one of his children and smiling.
He thought he could stay this way forever.
I wanna love you
Forever, I do
I wanna spend all of my days with you
Carry your burdens
And be the wind at your back
I wanna spend my forever
Forever like that
“Happy birthday to youuuu!” everyone sang to your little girl at her 1st birthday party. Everyone cheered, helping her blow out the single candle, as she stuck her face against the cake setting in front of her for a tasty lick, a frosting beard now covering the lower third of her face.
“Oh my goodness!” Harry laughed, bringing his face level with his daughters. “What’s happened, my angel? What’s on your face?”
Your daughter looks at him with a timid look, halfway between crying and laughing, as Harry steps in to save the day by imitating her actions and sporting his own frosting beard. She laughs at her silly daddy, touching his face as he pulls her fingers into his mouth, Harry kissing her as she squeals.
“You’re as silly as your daddy!” you tell her, taking a photo of the two of them, covered in cake mess.
Setting your phone on the table, you start to cut pieces of cake for everyone, but feel Harry next to you, sweetly grabbing your face as he slowly moves toward you, causing you to shriek as he kisses you exaggeratingly, smothering your face with his, covering you in the sticky goo. With laughter filling the garden, Harry smiles at you, kissing you lovingly. After another quick pic with the phone of the two of you, Harry pulls a baby wipe from a nearby container and begins wiping the color from your face, your children and loved ones laughing and enjoying the scene.
Well I’ll be the words on the pages
If you’ll be my sweet melody
And the tune can keep changing
'Cause love I’ll keep arranging
And this is the song that we’ll sing
Harry blows on his son’s scraped knee after cleaning the area he had fallen on, applying the medication, and topping it with a Spiderman bandage.
“See, bug? All better now,” Harry assures him against the boy’s tears and frown. Harry lifts the boy from the counter and hugs him tightly. “Daddy loves bug hugs. They always make me feel better.” He looks at his son, wiping the tears from his face and a tissue to his nose. “Better now?”
The little boy nods his head with a smile as he clutches around his father’s neck again, then reaches to be put down and runs off into another room.
“See, Bubby’s just fine,” you tell your daughter, setting her down to follow after her big brother. You hug Harry, then look at him with a smile, knowing you’ve both survived yet another parenting heartache.
When the rain comes, I’ll be your shelter,
When the wind blows, love we’ll be together
When the storms they rise, I’ll be right there by your side
And I’ll sing
You turn off the lights in the rest of the house, stepping into your bedroom, not seeing Harry, and walking down the hallway to the open door of your daughter’s nursery. You peek in, seeing Harry leaning over her crib, watching her breathe and sleep peacefully. You walk beside him, pulling your arm up to cradle his as he lays a gentle kiss on your skin.
“We made them,” he beams quietly, looking at you before staring at his sleeping daughter again. “Both of ‘em. You and I. We made them.”
“We did,” you smile, leaning your head against his. “Beautiful, aren’t they?”
“How could they not be with their parents’ good looks?” he chuckles lightly. “I hope they know how much we love them, you know?”
“They do, as much as children so young can,” you nod.
“I want them to understand love,” he says, gently tracing his finger along his daughter’s small fingers. “Gotta show ‘em all the love. Every drop of it, so they carry that with them for the rest of their lives and never forget it.”
“We’re doing well with them, Harry,” you say softly. “They’re happy, and healthy, and they know we love them to the moon and back.”
Harry moves his arm, wrapping it around you and kissing the side of your head.
“Want more, you know,” he smiles sheepishly. “When it’s time. Want more babies. Want them all to know the thought we put into having each one of them, how much they were wanted.”
You smile at him, kissing his cheek.
“Want them to know how much I love their mumma, too,” he smiles, wetness slightly rimming his eyes. “So they know the proper way to love the person they want to spend the rest of their lives with. Proper way to treat each other and show love to each other. So it’s forever…like us.”
Harry kisses your soft lips, then leans over the side of the bed railing to kiss his child’s head gently.
“Thank you…for them” he smiles tenderly. “No other person I would want to be their mumma.”
“And no other person I would want to be their daddy. Thank you for them.”
Your phone rang in your ear, you were trying to call Caroline, and you decided that a Friday was a pretty reasonable day. She was always willing to talk to you, you were both mom’s of siphons, and you both wanted someone to talk to about it. She picks up on the third ring.
“Hey, what’s up?” You tap your foot anxiously against the ground.
“So, I got in a fight with Kai a few days ago and-”
“What happened? Did he hurt you?” Caroline interrupts your sentence.
“No, he didn’t hurt me. He wanted to go back to Mystic Falls because he can feel, well Anna and I can feel as well, that your kids are getting a little skidding with their magic.” Caroline sighs on the other end and you get the mental image of her running a hand through her hair.
“Anna was too, before we left Mystic Falls. That whole town is practically magic, but the armory is probably the worst. It’s not you and Ric, Caroline.” She sighs again on the other end of the phone, relieved.
“It’s good to know, so when you and Anna left did she start to loosen up?” You nod to no one.
“Yeah, she got better the day we left. Kai’s been teaching her how to siphon magic without hurting anything. She’s been lifting her letter blocks really well lately.”
“Lizzie and Josie are great at lighting accidental fires.” The tone of her voice makes you laugh.
“Anna’s great at that as well, I’ve got a fire extinguisher in every room.” She laughs and you smile. After a minute you speak again.
“Alright, well I just wanted to give you a little advice, I’ll talk to you soon.”
“Thanks, talk soon.” She hangs up and you set the phone down, looking down at your stomach as a small wave of nausea passes over.
Tiny and slow footsteps start towards the kitchen. It was probably Anna, she had caught the flu from one of her friends at school, and she was too restless to stay in bed. The door creaks open and Anna shuffles into view, a blanket over her shoulders, her teddy in her hands.
“Mommy..” She reached her hands out and you lift her into your lap.
“What do you need, huh? Some soup?” You press your hand to her forehead, still burning up. She shakes her head, leaning against you.
“Not hungry.” You knew all she wanted was you to hold her, every time a little kid gets sick all they want is the love and warmth of their caregiver, right?
“Okay, well how about we try to eat something? You haven’t eaten since yesterday.” You were a little worried, she was going to get dehydrated soon.
“Okay..” You stand up, still holding her, and set her down at the breakfast bar. She puts her head on her arms on the cold surface, it probably felt amazing to her heated up body.
You pull a cold water bottle from the fridge and the children’s Motrin from the medicine cabinet. She needed to get her fever down, or she’d pass out.
“Alright baby, let’s take some medicine. It’ll make you feel better.” Anna lifts her head and watches as you pour the blue raspberry flavored medicine into the little plastic shot glass.
“I don’t want it.” Anna says, pushing your wrist away when you give it to her. You frown.
“It’s gonna make you feel better, Anna. What if I take some too?” Anna watches you pour the medicine into another little plastic shot glass.
“It’s not gonna hurt you, look.” You down the tiny amount of medicine in one gulp, it tasted terrible but you don’t show it. It won’t hurt you, but if it’ll get Anna to take it then you’ll do pretty much anything.
“Okay.” Anna takes the glass and drinks it, grimacing and reaching for the water bottle immediately after.
“Good job, baby.” You rub her back as she leans back in the top of the breakfast bar, tired and probably really hungry.
You glance at her every five minutes as you make soup on the stove, making sure she’s still breathing. It was mommy-paranoia, you knew that, but you needed to check to make sure. You did every time she got sick, you worried about her, all the horror stories about mom’s losing their babies to the flu. Anna wasn’t at risk but you still worried about her, you don’t think you’ll ever stop. With the soup in a bowl you push it to in front of her.
“Thank you, mommy.” Anna lifts her spoon.
“You’re welcome, baby.” You walk towards the dinning room table where your computer was sitting, you were making a list of things to buy for the twins.
“Where are you going?” Anna’s voice is panicked, she turns around in her chair quickly.
“No where, baby, I’m just going to the table. I have to order some stuff for the babies.” She turns back to her soup and you sit down, looking at the screen with dull boredom.
Kai walks into the kitchen from the back door, holding plastic bags. You smile at him before crossing ‘cribs’ off your list and he places the bags on the counter.
“Hi, daddy.” Anna sneezes into a tissue just after she talks. Kai turns around and smiles at her.
“Hi, An’s.” Anna goes back to her soup as Kai puts the groceries away.
After she finishes her soup she comes back to you, wanted to be held again. You lift her up before she can climb into your lap. Her breaths are deep a rumbling, and her nose is stuffed up but her forehead feels a little bit cooler, all that’s left for her to do now is either throw up or fall asleep. Since her fever was down you were arguing sleep.
“How about we go lay down, huh?” She gives a feeble nod against your shoulder.
“Okay, let’s go lay down upstairs.” You pick up your laptop and notebook.
“Will you stay with me?” Anna asks, voice small and rough from a sore throat. You smile.
“I’m not going anywhere, babe.” You adjust her on your waist and head towards her bedroom.
Beside her bed Kai had pulled a padded rocking chair last night when he couldn’t bear to hear her shallow breathing through the walls any longer and settled for sitting at her bedside until he fell asleep from exhaustion. You put your laptop and notebook on her bedside table. She turns over as soon as you lay her down, facing the wall and lying shivering but sweating on top of her blanket. You sit down on the chair and open your laptop again, listening to her deep breathing and watching her shoulders move through the corner of your eyes.
You repeated the motion for hours, ordering something and then looking to Anna until eventually you finish ordering baby things and then you’re just scrolling through tumblr, trying to to laugh at funny videos of kitten fails and reading thoroughly every reblog about politics. You go on a few ‘mommy of twins’ blogs to read here and there about birth and dealing with twins babies and a child. You knew it was going to be a mess, a terrifying, loving mess.
“Mommy?” Anna’s croaky voice calls you from your thoughts.
“What’s the matter?” Anna sits up, her little fists pressing into her eyes.
“I want cuddles.” Her arms open and you lift her up, holding her on your waist.
“Let’s go sit outside, it’s a beautiful day and some fresh air will do you good.” Anna just gives a feeble nod against your shoulder as you start to walk down the stairs.
You sit on the front porch, the sun was setting and the breeze in the shade was cool. Anna sighs when you sit down on the wicker rocking chair on the porch, the breeze cooled the sweat on her skin. You hum as you rock remembering when she was just a baby and you used to sit out on the porch at night so she could fall asleep. She was always a fussy baby, you were always so tired, but you loved her. There was a moment, your lowest moment, when she got dehydrated when she was only about six months old, where you debated putting her up for adoption. But you remembered that she was a witch, a siphon, but still a witch and that you didn’t have the heart (or lack of) to put her up for adoption.
She always had Kai’s bright blue eyes, they shone like someone had taken stars from the sky and put them in her eyes, and when she wasn’t crying she was laughing. When she first came home you spent the first week sleeping in the chair beside her crib, watching her sleep until you were too exhausted to keep your eyes open. It was in those moments you thought of Kai, what was happening to him? Did he even know about Anna? Would he even care? She held your finger as you thought every night, her tiny fist loose around your fingertip.
And now she was a big girl, five years old. She had long brown wavy hair and the same bright blue eyes she was born with. Though her complexion more resembled yours than Kai’s. Another breeze passes over you and Anna sighs again, it probably feels heavenly in her overheated skin. You continue to him softly, your fingers running over her upper arm as you do so. You love her so much, and you’ll never let anything take her away from you.
Fair warning: I went crazy with this. Don’t read this at night or in public. Have a water bottle next to you at all times. This gets kind of smutty. Also I’m not familiar with the new members, so I left them out. One more group left.
A/N: I think the panicked expressions on Eric’s face are incredibly accurate for this series lol also, if you want to be tagged in any dauntless updates, let me know! I don’t always post consecutively, sometimes there might be a few weeks in between chapters, and I don’t want anyone to miss out! Don’t forget to check the masterlist for the rest of my Dauntless, and where all parts of this series are tagged.
I leaned over the crib, watching the infant sleeping in his blue blankets. Camille had him wrapped up like a burrito, still wearing his little blue hat, his face scrunched in his sleep. It was late, I’d just gotten in, but I’d wanted to check on him before I went to bed.
A/N:With this chapter, comes an end to the series~ but wait! There is a bonus chapter after this one! Yay! I am already planning out for the sequel to this story. If you’d like me to, I will write it. Let me know if you guys would like the sequel to this story~ Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoy it! (Sorry in advance for any grammatical errors in my stories!)

Sam, Rhodey and Vision came over to see the new born baby.

A/N:*Please read* (I know its long, but bear with me <3)
First and foremost, I’d like to thank you for those who has been staying through with me ever since I first posted the first chapter of this series. By the time I posted this final chapter of the series, I gained about 90 followers in a span of a month. I honestly can’t thank you guys enough for the support you guys have given me about my stories. I really appreciate every follow, likes, reblogs and comments you guys have given to me. I honestly didn’t think anyone would read it, but surprise! Thank you so much everyone for your kindness and support.
Second, I sincerely hope that you guys will continue to be around for my future stories. I already planned two out and they will be posted as soon as I’m done with them. If you’d like a sequel to this series, I am more than happy to write it.
So, again, thank you so much. I will post more stories in the future and I hope it will be as good, if not, better than this one that I have posted. I hope you stay tuned until then! I will give it my best.
For now, I will post that bonus chapter of this series soon! (It will be through Bucky’s point of view *wink wink*)
Much love, guys! <3
Bonus chapter coming soon!
P/S: If you’d like to be tagged in the next chapter, message me and let me know!
A/N: At @yourtropegirl‘s recommendation just I read @ohbelieveyoume amazing fluffy, lighthearted story about Barba and his daughter, and I just had to make one. Except that this story is not light or fluffy. It does contain talk of abuse and shaken baby syndrome.
Court prep is like running a Five-K. It was you did to prepare for your marathon. You mapped your route. You found out what you were good at, and what you needed to improve on. It was also tedious. Every detail had to be checked three times, no mistakes, or I could kiss my senior partnership goodbye. I used to not mind working all hours of the night, but then I had Sofia.
I had insisted on going back to work right away. We needed the money, and secretly I had been scared that I wouldn’t be a good mother. Rafael on the other hand had taken to the role naturally. He was the perfect stay-at-home dad, caring, attentive, and he could change diapers at lighting speed.
So I was surprised when I walked into our apartment to see Rafael sitting on our couch, head in hands.
The double feature is dedicated to my sister Raven who I have been tormenting with these posts for days. Even though this is not the end of part three, I wanted her to have something dedicated soley to her. Enjoy your double feature sissy.

When the elevator doors shut behind us, I felt nerves tangle in
the pit of my stomach. What did Marco expect me to do with him today?
Would this be like prostitution, or will he stay coming back for
more? Questions plague my had as the elevator slowly travels up to
our floor, I start to wonder if I actually asked enough questions
about this whole sugar baby thing. Like whose to say he isn’t into
robbing a girl blind and leaving her stranded in an eviroment
different from the states. I quicky pull out my iphone 8 and shoot a
text to god dad and let him know where I am in barcelona, and that I
had made it safely. I look up and see Marco looking at me with a
curious look in his eye, and I look back with a look that screamed
“When did you become a Sugar Baby?”
His question threw me completely off. I never expected him to ask
about it. Well I mean I guess I would have told him but it was like
in an elevator withing a couple hours of meeting me. That’s not what
“Last week.” I say meekly, trying not to let my voice shake as
I stare back at him, unashamed that I was not some experienced sugar
baby, or the fact that I was standing in front of a stranger billions
of miles away from home and I didn’t know him from Adam or Eve.
His shocked face was almost my undoing though. “Just a week..?
Am I?..You know…” His voice trails off and his cheeks flash a
shade of pink that only made him look adorable. “Yes, Marco, you
are my first Sugar daddy.”
The silence in the elevator was thick after that. There was no
small talk, no witty banter, nothing you would expect out of someone
taking a girl to the presidential suite of any hotel, let alone a
five star one over seas. “Why did you choose me?” I asked
quietly. Yes, I Rosa Lee, 22 year old college gradaute was actually
scared of the answer to his question. What if he thought I was like
some dumb airhead, who wouldn’t know the straps of her heels from a
strap on her ass. Fuck what was I thinking, coming over seas without
pleading for a meeting or conducting my own background check.
Marco just smiled and let out a soft sigh as his light pink cheeks
started to go into a deep red. “Because your picture they sent me
looked as lost as I felt.” The elevator doors chose then to open.
He took me down the long hallway to the room all the way in the back,
he swiped his key card and stood aside for me to walk in. “You’ll
be in the guest room, my little Rose. I’ll have your bags brought in
when they arrive.” I just nod and he points me in the direction of
the second bedroom. I don’t know if I should be disappointed of
relieved. I mean I have never had to have rebound sex, so I had no
idea if I was on rebound from my ex. But for the first time in years
I wanted someone other than my ex. It was scary and confusing. I
chalked it up to jet lag. I walk into the guest room and the first
thing I noticed is that it was huge. It made me feel like I was
watching an episode of cribs on MTV and being stunned at the
priceless shit they had around them. The bed looked like it was
covered in golden silk, and covered in an ocean of pillows. There was
a cream colored couch with gold trims on it on the side of the bed,
like someone could just wake up hop out of bed and open the window to
stare at the sun rise. The carpet was fluffly and white, the
chandelier in the room was half the size of the one in the lobby but
was surrounded with white crystals, making it look far more fancier.
There was also a laptop desk and a 60 inch tv in my room. As I
started to put my purse down, my phone started to go off. I check the
screen and it’s a text from godfather.
I knew you’d get there safe, no one pays as much as he paid
to get a girl over seas and lose her without complaint.
I immediately call him to figure out
what the hell he was talking about. He answered on the second ring
and I can hear the fax machine in the office go off and hear people
bustling about in the background. “what do you mean how much he
paid?” I ask keeping my voice low and trying not to freak out. I
hope to God this man is just hitting the early stages of dementia and
has no idea what the hell he’s talking about.
“Marco gave me 200k in a finders fee
for you, and because I told him you were not prepared for any trips
yet as you just started and he wasn’t supposed to come across your
file yet it would be some time before you even would have everything
you needed to meet anyone short notice, so he through in another 60k
to make sure you got everything by this weekend. Also he transferred
80k into your Sugar bank.”
“My sugar bank?”
“When you are with an high profile
client and they get a lot of media attention, so they can’t transfer
money itself to the girls. We developed a system to clean the money
like the clients are donating to charity. So then when they got to do
taxes they get a deductible and we get a 2% bonus for every time they
transfer to you girls.”
I roll my eyes, trying to bite back a
real horrible remark to my god father, but instead I just thank him
for the info and hung up. Marco confuses the hell out me But he was
sexy as hell so maybe it will just work out for all of us.
I go into the bathroom to take a shower
and almost fainted at the sight. The bath tub was orgasmic. I mean it
could almost be a jacuzzi. It had jets and the shower was encased in
glass with four shower heads. I ran myself a hot bubble bath and
undressed myself, setting some towels and wash cloths on the side of
the tub on a little mini roll cart. Slipping into the warm bath and
turning off the water I sat back and just let myself relax. As I
reached for some soap and my hand made contact with something round.
I opened my eyes and looked at what was in my hand. It read Rosemary
bath bomb. Not knowing what it was I read the instructions and it was
basically to drop it in the tub with water. So I unwrapped it and
soon I felt myself relaxed more than I had been before. I sat in that
good ass smelling tub until the water got cold, refilled the tub and
dropped in another bath bomb and did it again. After washing myself I
hopped in the shower to rinse off from all the suds.
Summary: (Pre Negan) The reader is bored, so she spends the day with Carl
A/N: I enjoyed writing it, but I think it sucks pretty bad I might actually remove it so i can totally fix it lmao… I’m more of a fanfiction person, so this is my first oneshot. But I hope it is as requested and you guys enjoy it!
It wasn’t a secret that I liked Carl. In fact, I would even be surprised if he didn’t know.
But he liked Enid. And she liked him. Enid was my best friend, and I wouldn’t do anything that had to do with taking him away from her.
But now I was laying on the bed with my eyes shut, tightly gripping a pillow at my side, helpless as Carl hovered above me with another pillow in his hands up in the air as Judith casually watched us from her crib, positive that a few seconds from now, there would be clouds of down from the pillow all throughout the room.
*Record scratch, freeze frame*
Yep, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.
•One hour earlier•
“Hey, uh, Sri, Glenn, Heath, and I are going on a run, would you mind helping Carl watch Judith while I’m gone?” Rick asked me.
“But he’s good with Judith. He shouldn’t need my help.”
“He’s just probably bored with spending time with only me. I mean, Enid is with Maggie and she’s his only other friend. But I can try to get her if you would rather not…”
“No! It’s fine. I’ll go. It’d be nice to hang out with Carl. It’s been a while.” I nodded at Rick as I left to go find Carl in front of his house with Judith in her stroller.
“Hey, Carl, going out or coming in?” I asked.
“Going out. You wanna come with?”
“Sure. I was looking for you anyway.”
He grabbed the handles of the stroller and walked forward.
“So,” he began as if he was waiting for a while to say this, “I heard that you like me? Is that right?”
“I mean I guess I do. Who told you?”
“Haha, well, she likes you too.”
“Oh, yeah. And I know you like her too.”
“Anyway, we’ve been walking for a while. You can go back to what you were doing if you want.”
“No! I’ll help you watch Judith. I’m sure you’re bored with just the two of you and nobody to talk to.”
We got Judith back into the house and I started looking around the kitchen to see what they have that I can make for her.
I pulled the spaghetti box (hehe) out of the cupboard and got a pot to start boiling water.
“You can cook?” Carl asked me.
“No. This is seriously a matter of boiling water and then putting the spaghetti in the water, etc” Do you want me to teach you how to make it?”
“Yeah! This is useful information for this time.” He said sarcastically, but I wasn’t kidding.
“Alright, so we start with the water. Lucky you, I haven’t filled the pot yet, so here.” I handed the empty pot and turned on the sink. He just stared at me. “Come on, Carl. We don’t have all the water in the world. Go ahead.”
He stared at me dumbfounded as he filled the pot with the water. I rushed to grab it before it overfilled.
“Jeez, Carl, we have to hurry. Judith Is probably really hungry. Now I’ve turned the stove on, so put the pot on that eye. I already have the sauce warming up. Now we wait. But only a little bit.”
“Now what should we do while we wait?” He moved in front of me to watch the water start to boil.
“I should put your hair up. Don’t want to get any hair in the food now, do we?”
“I can do your hair! I just want to put it up.”
“No pigtails or braids or any of that shit. Enid pulled that one on me before.”
“But she’s really good at that stuff. She braids my hair weekly.”
“None of that. No monkey business.”
I laughed out loud.
“Look! The water’s boiling. Now take this spaghetti,” I handed him the box, “and put it in the pot.”
“Just dump it all in?” He asked. I nodded and he did it.
“Oh, look at her, Carl. She’s sleeping.”
“Now what do we do? Our customer is asleep.”
I tried to ignore that cute statement, “Well, are you hungry?” He shook his head, “I’m not either, so we can wait to cook.
“We should probably take her upstairs then.” He said awkwardly.
“I wanted to do your hair, but don’t worry. I will be back to get it done. Let’s go put this child to bed.” I picked her us and we started walking up the stairs.
Once we got up there and put Judith in her crib I sat down on the bed.
“Are you alright? You’ve seemed kind of off all day.”
“Tell me what’s wrong. If it has anything to do wth me I won’t be upset.”
“Nothing that important, but Enid and I have been friends since this whole thing started. We came here and we both liked Ron, and I was put on the back-burner. I just hate that it’s happening again.”
“It isn’t. I don’t want it to. I would never do that to you. You’re my best friend.”
“I hope you’re right.”
All of a sudden Carl disappeared from my view and I thought nothing of it until something soft yet intense hit me in the back of the head.
I turned only to see Carl behind me with a pillow in his hand.
“Oh no, you didn’t.” I threatened as I picked up a pillow of my own and threw it at him.
“Oh yes, I did.” He shoved me down on my back and hovered over me with the pillow in the air. I looked over at Judith who was just waking up. she probably heard us.
He began to swing the pillow down with all of the force he could when I rolled off the bed, making him hit the bed so hard that the fabric split and feathers spilled out.
“Jesus Christ. We should probably clean this up before your dad gets back.” I laughed.
“We can wait,” he lifted another pillow up, “and if we don’t, he’ll live.” He smirked.
