I was watching a program on PBS last night about the royal bedchamber in the context of English history. During it I discovered that @drst and I missed a golden opportunity in the Ren AU to have someone roll all the way across Queen Elizabeth’s bed to check it for knives hidden in the mattress.

FINALLY WATCHED MERCY STREET

- Isaac Lahey I thought you were in Paris after S3 but I’m not complaining if you somehow ended up in the past and you have this marvelous accent. Really, I’m far from it.
- Anne Hastings is growing so much on me, I think I love her.
- Gimme Mary back or gimme oxygen. I miss my badass nurse like crazy.
- For a moment I thought that the John Doe was Matron’s son and I was ready to cry. Spoiler: I did it anyway because the letter scene was the saddest ever.
- Do we really need so many scenes featugring Jimmy? Is there a soul that likes him?
- Byron and Anne are precious and always make me smile.
- I NEVER THANKED MCBURNEY SO MUCH AS I DID TODAY FOR CALLING JED IN HIS OFFICE.
- Lisette you didn’t need to go away to not interfere with my Phoster, you can stay. You’re beautiful and talented. Don’t go.
- Finally Emma is caught up on How to Get Away with Murder: Green family edition.
- Byron passed the exam GIMME A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR HIM.
- Though really, did you need to make up that horrible excuse about Samuel? He’s your friend, Byron.

I CAN’T BELIEVE WE’RE ONE EPISODE AWAY FROM THE FINALE SORRY FOR RAMBLING:

I’m watching the PBS “documentary” on Ruby Ridge and so far the first 5 minutes is just reminding us “The Weavers were really nutty people”

In my experience, this line of argument usually ends with some version of “Sammy and Vicki Weaver’s lives didn’t count”

I’m growing right before your eyes

Song is “Young Man in America” by Anaïs Mitchell, which is a song I have many, many feelings about. There’s a violence and harrowing feeling to the song, but in the end there’s a sense of contemplativeness that  I feel really fits with both Alfred’s character and just… this country itself. "There’s a feeling that the American is something of an orphan, that we can’t trust we’re going to be taken care of,” says the songwriter in reference to uncertainty and unease in this country, but at the same time I feel like there’s a lot of hope, which is necessary to survival, which i tried to sort of capture with this little piece. :0

Thinking about possibly expanding to do the entire song in the black/white/gold style just to see how it’d work out, but I was struck with emotions for APH America while watching the PBS Hamilton segment, so I had to do something featuring him. Hope you enjoyed!
