Not that they are shallow but when the negative side of their shallow personality comes out.
shallow side: Is concerned with others’ opinions because it feeds into their ego. Goes to great lengths to hide weaknesses.
shallow side: Self-esteem and image is reliant on material things or relationships. Doesn’t want to face differences or change via fear.
shallow side: Stays detached, fears deepness, intentions are never clear, tries to always appear happy, gives into gossip and two-faced behavior, can be suspicious of others, and avoids truth and perception.
shallow side: Goes after things to boosts their confidence, is highly changeable, has a lack of patience, and uses passive aggression to get what they want.
shallow side: Takes things at face value, is all about physical appearance and reputation, and uses cockiness to hide flaws or distracts with drama.
shallow side: Avoids emotional messiness, is judgmental, can act snobby, flaunts their perfectionism, and constantly criticizes others to make them look better.

shallow side: Haughty about their own uniqueness, highly hypocritical, makes fun of others, lacks sympathy, and is a gossiper.
shallow side: Obsessed with others opinions on them, wishy-washy, never know their intentions, and their identity changes frequently.
- Self-image: arrogant // having low self-esteem.
The subtleties: the character getting him/herself into trouble because (s)he thinks (s)he can do more than (s)he actually can // a lack of confidence, which can be annoying to other characters & can possibly be dangerous, if it surfaces at a crucial moment
The extremes: narcissism or a god complex // self-destruction (either conscious or unconscious)
- Temperament: uncontrollable // so controlled the character goes numb.
The subtleties: irritable temperament, which causes conflict between characters // indifference that can be hurtful to other characters, which also causes conflict
The extremes: verbal or physical violence (possibly homicide) // being cold, calculating and ruthless
- Opinions: strong // weak. (Although weak opinions or beliefs make for flawed characters, strong opinions on their own are not necessarily flaws – it depends on what the character believes so strongly, and if they believe so strongly they are no longer open-minded.)
The subtleties: making enemies who have different beliefs than you // being seen as kiss-ass or wishy-washy
The extremes: radicalism or zealotry // untrustworthiness
- Loyalty: loyal // disloyal. (Again, loyalty is not necessarily a flaw – as long as it’s in moderation.)
The subtleties: annoying heroics // hesitation to help the protagonist(s), which, if the character in questions holds important questions/materials, can be problematic
The extremes: zealotry or being foolishly loyal (unnecessarily leading self/others to danger or destruction due to loyalty – particularly pointless if it’s only to prove a point, rather than a practical reason) // untrustworthiness
Please, feel free to reblog with your thoughts/add-ons!
I live in a neighbourhood with a majority of people of northern and western African descent.
Amongst the roars of joy I heard a woman.
She was shouting “We’re saved”, triumphant, ecstatic, relieved.
Yet I know tonight fascists will be coming down on MOGAI peeps and PoCs, and get into fights with antifa.
And I shudder at the thought that it could have been even worse.
“Our country will be sold to the great capital, but at least we’ll be alive and free to see it and be against it” is what the streets tell me.
But the violence is still here.
The injustice is still here.
And during his whole time as our President, we will remind Macron that he’s not here because we want him to be there. He’s here because we want to destroy him and everything he represents. The corruption of our state. The influence of US ultraliberalism. The tyranny of the 1%. We’ll be there every second to tell him that he can take his wishy-washy socialism in name only and shove it right up his arse, because we’re better than this.
We will fight for what is right. We will stand united, as a people of many colours. For freedom, equality, and solidarity.
While they are usually kind-hearted and well-intended, they're often not warm and fuzzy. This is because they often try to love people before they learn to like them. They are the biggest nerds out of all the ESxx types, often gravitating towards Enlightenment Era ideals. They also make great pranksters, because they are clever and love to get reactions from people.
They're a lot more laid back than most profiles will have you believe (because ALL SJs MUST HAVE THEIR NOSES TO THE GRINDSTONE 24/7 pssh yeah right). Yes, they take what they do very seriously, but they need an awful lot of downtime because they are highly sensitive to sensory and social input. They may have a tendency to give up on things they should persist on, and persist in things they should give up. They are more open-minded than they seem - while they are extremely cautious with strangers, they are usually willing to learn to understand others as they get to know them, regardless of their differences. They are also the most fantasy-prone of any Sensing type, with a love for lore and literary analysis - it is a way for them to keep in touch with traditions.
Most of them aren't actually self-righteous. If they are, it's only toward their family members - this is mostly out of insecurity rather than a firm belief that they have made all the right choices. When faced with someone close to them making different choices than they did, they worry that perhaps they themselves should have taken a different route in life. Out of the SJ types, they are probably the worst at teamwork.
Sillier, softer, and stranger than any profile would dare to mention, and often more so than they themselves are aware of. They become so firmly set in their habits that they often fail to realize how idiosyncratic some of them are. They are quite vulnerable and can become depressed and anxious when they are faced with a difficult decision, more so than other types. This is because of their strong sense of accountability. They can also have a knack for puns and poignant descriptions, though most would never peg this type as "poetic."
The main reason they appear "non-committal" is because they are often, in actuality, extremely committed to someone or something that prevents them from pursuing new possibilities far enough or for long enough to gain anything from them. Imagine a fish that struggles to swim off in a variety of directions only to be reeled back in again and again, not even realizing that it's attached to a hook. They are probably the least self-aware of all iNtuitive types. Contrary to popular belief, they are not reckless. They may participate in reckless activities, but they are extremely cautious while doing so.
They care a great deal about what other people think of them and theirs - the "socially awkward" stereotype comes from over-thinking the situation, rather than under-thinking it. They are not wishy-washy, they are just extremely skilled at picking their battles. They can argue a lot for its own sake, but it wears them out more than they let on. Out of all the NTs, they are probably the best team players. They may pretend not to care about gossip or "sap", but they often secretly find these things irresistible.
They are usually not Machiavellian. Their strong sense of individualism often extends to others (which makes them respectful of others' uniqueness), and they use their brave and outspoken nature to amplify others' voices who may be going unheard. They are often the "bully's bully" - if they see someone picking on someone who's in no place to fight back, you can bet they will not hesitate to put that person in their place. They may seem tireless and unsinkable, but when they fail to meet their own standards, they often need to temporarily withdraw from their endeavor in order to regroup.
They value free will fiercely, but they aren't stubborn. If they learn the value of something they previously resisted, they can do a complete 180. Because of their tendency to analyze things for extended periods of time, this is something that can happen quite often. They are more aesthetically oriented than other Thinking types, and they are often quite whimsical (though they may not always express it). While they can appear cold, they can usually be quickly defrosted by a cause or by something they relate to. They tend to be quite compassionate towards people and things that are misunderstood, urging others to look beyond their biases and at the facts and circumstances. While they are very independent in their thoughts, they usually don't mind (and can sometimes prefer) to assist and be assisted, due to their keen sense of where they and others fall short.
They tend to suffer from a poorer self-image than most ExxJs. While their perpetual concern for others may look like the picture of responsibility, it can also be a means for them to avoid dealing with their own problems. This hyper-altruistic tendency coupled with a weaker Sensing function can lead to an ENFJ's life falling into severe disarray, and because of their Fe image-focus, they tend to be very good at hiding it. They are quite prone to vices - contrary to the Goody Two Shoes picture painted of them by most MBTI profiles.
While their NF righteousness usually compels them to be open and honest, they can be surprisingly artful and manipulative due to their knack for knowing what people want (and don't want) to hear. They are masters at keeping their friends close and their enemies closer. While many INFJs are spiritual people, their aptitude for coming to conclusions with little to no evidence does not come from any sort of mystical source, but rather their constant unconscious analysis of small details that most others don't notice at all and which they themselves have difficulty pinning down specifically. They are the most cerebral of all the Feeling types.
They may be extraverts, but they are often not outgoing because their Fi compels them not to over-extend themselves emotionally. Their extraversion manifests more in exploration of various interests and gathering information from outside the self, interpreting it in terms of the connections between different pieces of information. While they almost always have unconventional senses of humor, they are not necessarily "goofballs" - they take their moral causes, values, and social relationships very seriously and one can readily observe this intensity any time these topics are brought to the ENFP's attention.
Often regarded as frivolous daydreamers, they can be shockingly practical, readily seeing the value of using time and resources wisely. They often have no time for things they see as irrelevant to their causes, projects, or values. In a society where ExxJ behavior is seen as the norm, this might look like someone acting "too cool for school". In reality, the INFP is as busy as they are. The only difference is that the source of motivation is intrinsic, and the projects are usually personal. They are also not as pleasant as most sites paint them as. Many INFPs are harshly judgmental towards people and things they see as transgressing against their values. Though they may not always speak up about it, they will frequently shun those who don't meet their standards without a second thought or a closer examination.
Contrary to popular belief, they do value book-smarts and often enjoy conversing with Rational types. They may not grasp the concepts as easily (nor apply them as responsibly), but they find philosophical topics stimulating - another piece of equipment on life's big playground. While they are naturally persuasive people, they are often disinterested in the corporate and political spheres where they could potentially thrive - ladder-climbing within organizations doesn't appeal to them (in fact, many ESTPs cringe at the very idea). Because of this, they often do not pursue these career tracks despite their high level of potential for success in them.
They are usually much more caring than most profiles give them credit for. They have a deeply fraternal nature about them and they often use their trouble-shooting skills and practicality to give advice and assistance to their friends. While typically independent and solitary in the pursuit of their hobbies, they are usually not aloof in social situations and they have a knack for observational humor.
Out of all the Feeling types, ESFPs often have the most difficulty dealing with emotions, whether their own or those of others. They are not good at giving advice or confronting their own emotional issues - this is because of their tendency to minimize problems. Their Feeling side manifests more in their genuineness. You typically won't find them deliberately playing games with others' feelings or pretending to be someone they're not in order to be liked - their natural confidence is usually enough for them to win friends and influence people.
They're not snobs or hipsters. Well, not necessarily. They know what they like, full stop. Whether their tastes are considered refined or eclectic by the rest of the world varies from ISFP to ISFP. They're not that shy - many an ISFP is possessed of an SP-typical brazen sense of humor and they love to talk at length about their interests. They are also not as prone to spring at new opportunities or experiences as other SP types - "I don't know, it doesn't sound like something I'd like" is a phrase commonly uttered by ISFPs.
so, you’re joining the hamilton fandom and want to produce content? great!! scared of the unofficial etiquette in this mess? let me help.
(disclaimer: this is an UNOFFICIAL guideline. i’m aware that this fandom is a problematic mess that’s full of discourse and the only adult ones tend to be actual legal adults. don’t fuckin @ me saying that hur durr i’m wrong and should rot in hell. this is based off personal experience.)
•Most pairings are accepted. The main ones are Hamilton/Laurens, Hamilton/Burr, Hamilton/Eliza, Jefferson/Madison, Jefferson/Hamilton, Washington/Lafayette, Maria/Eliza (or any Schuyler sister rly) and Mulligan/Lafayette. These usually have the most content, but also contain the most discourse. There’s also some major minor character ships out there; Lee/Seabury, Lee/KG3, Seabury/KG3 etc. I found Eacker/Philip H smut once. This fandom is literally the reason why Rule 34 exists. If it exists, there is porn of it.
•Polyamorous ships are widely accepted. I don’t ship any personally, but a few big ones are Hamilton/Eliza/Laurens, Laurens/Hamilton/Lafayette/Mulligan, Hamilton/Jefferson/Madison, etc. Basically, a lot of people like the idea of Hamilton’s cheating being converted into a happy, consensual relationship that’s polygamous, and that’s okay. (Please note I’m not equating cheating with polyamory. Hamilton being a dirty cheater doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with poly ships if you don’t want, but to me it seems particularly common, especially with the ships containing Hamilton and Eliza.)
•And I know you want to ask; what’s not accepted? Hard question. This fandom loves its angst, so there aren’t many ships that seem untouchable. For the love of God, though, don’t write anything that’s incestuous. I’m talking father/son, sibling/sibling. Don’t make any of Hamilton’s kids end up with the characters in the show. No, Washington/Hamilton doesn’t count as incest, although I personally can’t stand it.
•BASICALLY, don’t be a dick. Also, bear in mind that James Reynolds is the Umbridge of this fandom. If you portray his relationship with Maria as anything less than abusive, there will be riots. I’ve yet to see an (educated) James Reynolds apologist.
•In terms of physical appearance, this fandom is a little wishy-washy on guidelines, unofficial or no. Tip: don’t whitewash if you’re drawing/writing them as their musical characters. Just don’t whitewash in general. This fandom seems to be okay with historical-era fanart and fanfic, which usually involves the characters looking like they did historically, but don’t romanticise them. Don’t romanticise them in general, but especially if you’re making them historical-era.
•SPEAKING OF ROMANTICISING, these characters were BAD PEOPLE. Jefferson owned slaves, Burr owned slaves, Washington owned slaves, the Schuylers owned slaves, evidence points to Hamilton owning at least one slave. Don’t let the Alexander apologists fool you; they were bad people historically. Don’t refer to them, ESPECIALLY I HISTORICAL CONTEXT, as ‘cinnamon rolls’. They were misogynists against the rights of women and minorities. Don’t forget that, no matter how much you like their characters. The Jefferson you like is portrayed by a black Jew; the Jefferson in history was a racist with a history of sexual assault and a slavery apologist.
•KEEPING THAT IN MIND, personality-wise, what we get from the musical is a little murky. Peggy is a great example of this. Fanon Peggy is very outspoken, sarcastic and a typical millenial. In the musical, she’s shy, hides behind her older sisters and very cautious. This is because of the fact that a) Peggy’s vocals are only apparent in one song through listening alone and b) historically Peggy was very similar to fanon Peggy. THIS DOESN’T MATTER. PORTRAY THEM HOWEVER YOU THINK SUITS BEST. Don’t let the musical force you to make Eliza’s main trait be ‘nice’. For all you Laurens stans out there, it’s okay to let him have interests other than art, turtles and Hamilton. Feel free to give them depth, complexities, flaws. Not only is it fucking refreshing amongst the collection of bland chatfics and high school AUs that seem to reduce each character to a single trait, it’s good for original character practice as well.
•THE SCHUYLER SISTERS get their own section. If you’re doing something historical, remember that they had other siblings. It’s generally agreed that Angelica and Eliza were closest, but Angelica and Peggy and Eliza and Peggy are shown in the musical as being close too (see Angelica dancing with Peggy and hugging her in Satisfied, and Peggy helping Eliza put away her letters and being dragged along with her in Helpless and The Schuyler Sisters). Sometimes it seems that fics reduce them to plot devices, minor characters or love interests; I won’t go all 'SJW!1!1!1’ on you but they are their own people as well, and flesh them out. (This problem is not as common in artwork, since art of them tends to focus on them either as a trio or Satisfied and Helpless companion pieces starring Angelica and Eliza.) Also, fun fact that this fandom seems to have overlooked - all three of them could play instruments.
-REVOLUTIONARY SET AND DEMOCRATIC REPUBLICANS. Things to remember include Madison and Hamilton being friends before Jefferson showed up, Jefferson and Lafayette being close, Mulligan historically being Hamilton’s biggest hypeman (oh, I wish I was kidding) and Laurens and Lafayette being close friends. As for Burr, he’s traditionally relegated to the strange outsider by the fandom. This is more of a personal view, but Burr started off as a member of the Revolutionary Set, and progressed into a Democratic Republican, and this fandom likes to forget that.
-THEODOSIA JR. Theodosia is never seen, only mentioned, which basically means everything about her is fanon. Literally. The only confirmed thing about her are her parents. This means Theodosia is good for inserting an audience-type character into; she’s an empty vessel, essentially, so anything you do to her involves zero fact checking. BEAR IN MIND that Theodosia is usually shipped with Philip, and that some members of the fandom will have expectations of her. Ignore those people. Theodosia is a shell of an OC, so as long as you don’t murder her in childhood or something, there’s no real discourse you have to be wary of. (Apart from Philip/Theodosia discourse, which is apparently a thing? But there’s discourse in practically every ship, so by all means, ignore that too.)
•UNMENTIONED/UNSEEN CHARACTERS. I’m talking Ben Franklin, John Adams, James Monroe, Governor Clinton, them. John Adams appears to be universally hated, John Jay is often used as a filler or plot device, and the others are just used as names. Don’t bother about continuity with them.
-SOME COMMON AU IDEAS
•High School/College Modern AU. This is a big one. There are flaws in it, namely romanticising too much and relegating major characters to 'minor’ status, but it’s so widely used that it’s good to know if you’re new here.
•Modern Government/Law AU. Another big one. Not as commonly used because ugh, research and maturity, but there’s a massive pro to them - more complex themes and 'child’ characters can be added because the main lot are usually older. My personal favourite.
•Chatroom AU. What it sounds - no real fic, just usernames and text speak. Good for laughs or plain fights, but bad for complex emotion, fluff, angst, or major plot. Also, they clog up the tags of less major ships, especially on AO3.
•Soulmate AU. A variety of soulmate AUs exist, but essentially boil down to having some kind of matching mark, etc. Amazing for angst, fluff, plot and character development, but not so great for humour or multi-chapter fics.
•Domestic AUs. Exactly as they sound. Massive fluff traps, no real substance but they’re amazing if you’ve had a shitty day and need something to cheer you up. Fan favourite.
So there you go! Everything you need to know if you’re entering the Hamilton fandom, give or take a few things. Don’t bash ships, don’t romanticise them too much, and take Ron Chernow’s content with a pinch of salt (he’s known for 'not finding’ easily accessible content regarding the women of the Hamilverse). Good luck!
from someone who has been doing it for a hot minute.
With divination in general, whether from yourself or others:
If everything you keep using to discern with keeps pointing to no, it’s probably a no.
Conversely, if everything keeps pointing to a yes, it’s probably a yes.
99 no’s and one yes doesn’t make a yes.
If your answers keep coming back hazy or wishy-washy, there is probably a reason and you should figure that reason out before moving forward.
There is nothing wrong with giving a spread to a more experienced diviner and asking for their input on the meaning of the cards.
When you ask someone else for input, actually listen to them.
Remember that being wrong is not a sin or inherently bad. We’re all wrong sometimes.
Within divination you do yourself:
Be aware of confirmation bias. We all have it, and its hard to cut through. Cut through it as best as you can.
To counteract the fact that memories can shift and change, it’s better to write down what you think happened before you start to delve into divination or discernment. That way, you won’t inadvertently influence memories or shift things.
Use multiple formats of discernment or divination if possible.
When in doubt, give it more time. Time is one of the easiest ways to prove if something is legit or not.
With outside divination:
If you’re going to get a divination done from an outside source, someone with a proven track record is best.
Similarly, getting multiple readings from ppl with proven records is best.
You can get a reading from someone without a proven record, but make sure you don’t place all of your weight into that reading.
Don’t place all of your weight into any reading. That saying about eggs and baskets is relevant.
Blind readings are always a better bet.
Key word: blind. This includes how you phrase your query.
“I need to know why my god suddenly hates me” is not a good “blind” query. “I would like to know more about the status of my relationship with my god” or “I would like more insight as to the recent shift in my relationship with my god” is better.
Keep in mind that if you’ve placed all of your recent “woo” in a public source, someone can use that to infer information about your situation.
If your diviner needs to ask a lot of probing questions before they give you answers, walk away.
If your diviner gives you answers, and you tell them that it’s not accurate, which causes them to start bringing out “new information” that diverges from previous answers and wasn’t present before the extra details, walk away.
Be careful what information you give after the fact as well. It’s very easy to infer a lot of things simply based off of basic statements. The less information you give, the easier it will be to write the reading off as being accurate and unbiased.
driven towards everything daring, exiting and adventurous, extremely passionate about pursuit of conquest towards goal, possibly quick tempered, strong fire energy that must be channeled into physical challenge or passionate go-getting, can't sit still, needs new new new energy in their directed energy!
slow and steady wins the race, may take a LONG ass time to get to where they want to go.. Putting in all of the hard work and gluing the puzzle pieces together so when they actually get there they have strong stability and comfort in their foundation, very sensual physical energy, can be funneled into extremely hard work or extreme laziness, two sides of the coin with Taurus Mars..
verbal takedown, a ninja of words, goes towards goals and desires on a intellectual level, takes in all energies surrounding and from there strategically goes forth, likely to talk talk talk about the directed energy they have, talking about it helps them create what it is they are going for..
oh sweet cancer... Above all else needs emotional comfort in putting Mars energy forward, very passive and wishy washy, has trouble putting their foot DOWN on something, very very fiercely passionate about the ones they hold close, would do anything for their friends, puts a lot of directed Mars energy towards nurturing others.. So much so that it can put a halt to self-advocacy.. Very sweet and emotional in the bedroom..
creative in any and all ways, incessant need to share themselves and their identity in how they approach the world, strong on self-advocacy "this is what I want to do and I will do it!" Thinks much of self in the context of pursuit, dramatic physical energy, a need to be the BEST, loves to perform and be center stage within their life, strong connection between having energy to be physical and sunlight, the sun shines through Mars in this placement. Mars loves to be in Leo and many of these people feel Leo very strongly in their life even if it's their only placement in Leo. (My placement hehe)
extremely analytical in approach to directing energy, will look at all of the finer details and facts, add it- weigh it- equate it all up into a final consensus on what the perfect course of action is, perfection and correct execution is very important to Mars Virgo, needs to do it RIGHT, 100% kinky as fuck in bed oh lord.. Wants to serve and be served if you catch my drift..
emphasis on keeping everything in balance when pursuing something, with that comes a tendency for indecision on which way they want to direct their energy, beautifully creative in their stance (many musicians I know have this placement)Mars Libras physical directed energy is fine tuned to the harmonic melody of Venus, passionate and rhythmic with their directed energy, will come at you with a balanced kind creative energy..
the psychic touch! Their physical energy swims in the waters of Scorpio, their touch is metaphysical. Mars loves to be in Scorpio.. These people see something they want, take it inside to the deepest caves of their inner world and they go AT IT with no intention of loosing, they are formidable opponents in battle, a hearth of energy being cultivated and honed in behind the scenes, powerful directed energy that needs to be channeled into something productive, high emphasis on sexuality, passion to conquer and master in themselves what it is they are trying to attain, this energy can be totally transcendent or viciously deceitful..
what is life if we're not havin some fun?! Expansive in the way they approach physical reality, Mars in Sag is the one to overdo it at the party because they are the one having the most fun! Boisterous and bubbling with energy..Will put physical directed energy towards saggitarian pursuits of higher learning, foreign travel, deep encounters, and having fun! Their physical energy is robust.. Likely to be interested in sports or organized energy exchange, feels a deeper purpose and intention when going towards goals, philosophical sentiment is held in their powerful fire approach to life.
tempered, controlled, powerful directed energy funneled into goal oriented mindset, a desire to achieve success and competence through directed energy implemented orderly and efficiently, like Virgo they have a desire to do things right but it comes from more of a place needing to feel competent in themselves rather than anylictal need for perfection in life, Mars in Capricorn has the capacity to create great lengths of achievement within their directed energy..
these people seek to get their way in the exact way that they would like to do it because in their idealistic mind their way of directing energy is the BEST way, therefore listening and taking others authority or advice comes as a challenge, they seem to challenge status quo in what they are pursuing, Mars in Aquarius will get there the most unconventional and well thought out route ..
day dreaming their reality to life, they direct their energy through where their intuition guides them, they hold an extremely mystical Neptune energy in the pursuit of life, the way Mars operates in this person will be very ethereal and spiritual, whether they channel that energy into becoming a drug addict, body builder, writer, traveler.. They are going out doing what they are doing for no other reason than the trance state they are in put them there.. You ask Mars in cap "why are you standing here as a successful body builder" "Im here because I was scrawny and thin and wanted to have achievement in my body, I worked hard and now I'm built! check out my new business of fitness DVDs!" Now.. You ask a Pisces Mars the same question and you'd get "I'm here because it feels right to be here, this is my art and this is my life"
🐏 you have absolutely no patience, which always proves to get you into trouble. you often find yourself jumping into situations before you’re truly ready for them, and only having time to regret it later
🐏 you are unnecessarily defensive. you often react angrily to others’ irritation, assuming it’s about you (even though it rarely is)
🐏 you become wildly passionate about ambitious ideas but often fail to follow through with them before you become passionate about a new one. this may give you the reputation of being a “dreamer” or just plain wishy washy
🐏 you sometimes find yourself starting fights just because you like to argue. in fact, if you haven’t argued with someone in a while, you begin to feel moody. aggression is necessary for your happiness, even if you have nothing to be angry about
🐏 you probably have lots of temporary but intense love interests, and often aren’t afraid to act on those desires. you find yourself, however, bored with people easily
🐏 you don’t know the meaning of “want”. you NEED. every desire is an absolute necessity in your eyes, and this can be the cause of many problems for you, especially early in life
Give it to me straight. Get to the point. Say it like you mean it. No nitty gritty bullshit, give me the meat of what you are saying.
Ease me into what you’re trying to say. Keep the communication on a practical level. No abstract ideas, ground your words into the earth and I’ll understand.
However you want to explain this to me is good. I am very interested in your words. I can receive this any way you want to explain it.
Communicate it to me in a way that you know I can receive. Your words strike emotional chords in my body. Be gentle as I digest it.
Can you explain this to me in song? Or pictures? Or dance? No? Okay well just make me feel like what you are saying holds relevance to my life and I am open ears. Also.. MAke it exciTING !!
Please lay out the details for me. You speak a word and I find a million questions for clarity. I want to hear and understand everything about what you are communicating to me. Don't be vague.
If you really want me to hear you.. Don't be to brash, or dramatic, or all over the place. Please be concise and balanced with your communication. I appreciate what you have to say, just keep it level headed.
I want to know the truth. Give me the fucking truth. I want to know the depth. What is behind your words? What is your motive with these words? Don't you dare lie to me. I will always find out your truth.
Give me the big picture, the philosophical concept, the dream. Ignite me with your words. Expand my mind with your communication.. I am so open.. Just don't bore me. I need a sense of purpose to listen.
If you want me to take you seriously, know your shit. Communicate factually in a mature manner. If you want me to hear you without judgement, your words must impress me. I don't have time for the wishy washy wandery words. Get to the point.
Please communicate this to me in the most abstract conceptual way you are able. If you want me to receive your communication I need to be met with intellect that causes me to really think over your words.
Explain it to me in a story. I can't understand all of your crazy ass details. I need you to paint me a picture with your words.
here’s why sana and eva seem to make so much more sense to me, than sana and noora.
it feels like, clip upon clip upon clip, we just keep on seeing noora. there’s an overload of her. to the point now where, it just feels, overbearing. it feels too too much. even when she’s not got much to do in that clip (like today’s fake fake fake clip), her simple presence is just … overbearing. and we can see sana feeling overwhelmed by her too.
it just feels so forced? there is no need to have so much noora be shoved in our faces so much, yet, she’s there. she’s always there. and you can’t help BUT to roll your eyes and sigh deeply everytime you see her, because, there’s just been such an overload of her. an overuse of her, that, it just feels ineffective now.
noora says she’s dropped out of the bus because sana has. and? so? big deal? last episode she was fuming at sana, for not telling her about william and his new girl, and … now she’s okay with sana, enough to drop out of the bus for her? there’s such a lack of continuity in her character? and so now that she has dropped out of the bus, in today’s clip, she … honestly didn’t even seem that phased? just going about her usual stuff. tying her hair back and munching on a carrot. so, it’s like … well, what’s the point? what’s the point of you dropping out of the bus, that you say you did for sana, and then not even bothering to ask sana why she’s doing it, even though sana, by text, yesterday wasn’t up for talking much, noora could have asked today why she did what she did. but … it’s … just, mute silence? that’s not what “friends” do .. they don’t drop the matter. they keep at it, little by little, they keep asking. keep indirecting.
i’ve already been vocal about my issues with noora this season. she’s invalidated sana, dehumanised sana, said she’d rather be a muslim bc muslims don’t feel pain, she is literally? the definition of a White Feminist™. i’m tired of her. i’m tired of her constantly, always, just being THERE, and just … not doing anything. if this was season 1, noora would have asked sana by now what’s up with her, directly confronting her about it, and talked it out with her. but now? noora just seems so … wishy washy? there’s no … continuity in her character left anymore. i’m tired of her overload.
which is why sana and eva feels so much more organic. because, eva’s been spotting, noticing, since day 1. whether it be the pizza (which, yes, she got wrong), or just worrying glances at sana, that sana notices eva give her, or downright confronting and asking her what’s up, or trying to persuade her to stay. she’s including sana. she isn’t dismissing sana. she’s picking up on sana.
but it doesn’t feel overbearing. she isn’t taking up sana’s screen time with her problems, unlike noora. she isn’t making it about her. she’s making it about sana. keeping sana the focus. enhancing sana’s plot. asking her if she wants to join them in going places. paying attention. not dehumanising or invalidating sana.
and, eva’s presence feels a lot less gentle, a lot less subtle, than noora’s. it doesn’t feel forced. it’s not loud, it’s silent. but it still translates so much on screen. its where eva is shown to mess up (like with the pizza), but still continue trying. she isn’t shoved in every clip. there’s a gradual continuity, an organic steady growth there, whose slope keeps going upwards. she’s slowly approaching sana more and more, without it coming across as forced and plot devicey, or taking away from sana.
she’s noticing sana, in the way where she’s the only one who turns her head and looks back at sana walking away, in how she looks guilty, and tries to include sana into the conversation, in how in the bus meeting, she was the only one who wore a colour closely resembling black, as sana did, whilst the others wore white.
and it feels real to life. because, eva fucks up, but then she tries again, and each time, she tries a little bit more than the last time. it’s a development. its growth.
and it stems from just how familiar and similar sana’s struggles are, to eva’s.
they both have roots that stem from the same kinda seed that was planted, and hence why their lil friendship blossoming feels so much more organic and natural, than sana and noora’s, that just feels … artificial, superficial, and as isak put it: fake, fake, fake.
Models Own are renown for their super cute nail polish stands, inhabited by an array colours that would put the biggest double rainbow to shame! But the company is rapidly becoming known for much more than nail polish… Models Own have recently expanded and opened their first flagship store in Westfield Shopping Centre (Stratford, London) and filled it with a whole host of makeup products in a variety of stunning collections!! This week I received some of their latest products and they are simply amazing!
I have two lipsticks in a Matte finish (pictured left) and two in the Velvet finish (pictured right). Here are the swatches in both natural daylight and under mobile flash. You can see that the product stay true to the shade of the lipstick bullet even under the flash. Their staying power is fantastic and I had to use an oil-based remover to get them off my arm.
Each Luxestick Lipstick retails at £7.99, but Models Own have an offer online and in-store during February where you can get a free Luxestick lipstick when you spend £10 or more. You just need to add the code LUXE10 at the checkout.
Next up are Models Owns ‘Colour Chrome Eyeshadow Kits’. When I popped in store a couple of weeks back the girls swatched these for me and I was absolutely blown away by the pigment pay-off! Much like the lipstick, I had to remove the swatches with an oil-based remover as they would not budge!
The kit comes with a little mixing tray, a primer liquid and the metallic eyeshadow. Again, 10 shades are available in this collection and I have 3 of them to show you. The consistency is very creamy and it glides on with ease using your finger or a brush. It’s a thick medium and a little goes a long, so you can use the primer to dilute the cream but I feel the thickness adds to the intense metallic pay-off.
I have swatched the eyeshadow straight from the pot on the left, and on the right I have mixed the eyeshadow with a tiny amount of the primer. If you use too much you get more of a wishy-washy pay-off so bare that in mind. Personally, I don’t really see the point of the primer. There wasn’t any obviously contrast with and without the primer (unless you use too much) and it lasted just the same without. I think it’s phenomenal all on it’s own! I will definitely be stocking more of these in my kit.
Each Colour Chrome Kit retails at £14.99
The last three swatches I have to show you are from the MyShadow Cream Eyeshadow Collection. Once more there are 10 beautiful shades available in this range. Just to clarify incase you thought I had swatched the same shade twice, I happened to chose 2 almost identical eyeshadows from this assembly. I’m quite surprised by how similar they are, in my opinion I think one should have been a bit deeper or brighter in tone to differentiate the two.
The MyShadow Cream Eyeshadows are less shiny than the Colour Chrome pots, but still have a gorgeous shimmery glow. The consistency is creamy with a smooth finish compare to the thick finish of the Chrome pots, and would go on the eyes best with your finger rather than using a brush.
Each pot retails at £6.99
Overall, I am a massive fan of these products and I am excited by what Models Own have produced for us thus far! They have hit the floor running and I look forward to seeing AND trying more from them throughout 2017!
Let me know if you have tried any of the Models Own makeup and what you think?
I’m not going to pretend I’m the kind of person to do every day of inktober because, let’s be honest, I’m terribly forgetful and bad with time management but it might be nice to try and do a few days of it at least.
Here’s a sawsbuck. I’ve been finishing up my Pokemon Y file and one of my leading ladies is a winter sawsbuck named Wonderful. I give her lots of pets.
