Nat’s Glo Up Challenge

So I was inspired to create this “challenge” for those of us trying to better ourselves thanks to the @shrinkingblonde Full Potential Challenge. I absolutely love it and plan on starting it this weekend, but I feel like it only touches base on your daily routine and I wanted something that touches base on a little bit of everything. Thus, I created an outline for my Glo Up Challenge. This challenge entails developing your looks, becoming a better you in various areas, reaching to achieve future goals, loving yourself, treating yourself right, being comfortable in your own skin, being optimistic about life. I organised it in the order I want to work on each thing but feel free to change it around!

Let Go Of The Past

The first step is to let go of the past by tying up any loose ends and close that chapter of your life. You’re starting a new chapter. Somethings from Chapter 1 will follow into Chapter 2 while rest stays behind.

  • Delete/unfollow anyone you follow on social media that you don’t talk to or follow only to see what they’re doing.
  • Acknowledge any mistakes you’ve made in the past. Accept that you made those mistakes but carry the lesson you learnt.
  • Write down everything you’ve wanted to get off of your chest whether it be to someone in your life or a general feeling about something. Once you’re finished tear it up and throw it out. (Or if you’re feeling brave give it to them)

Goal setting

Now that we’re feeling ready to get our glo up on, it’s time to set goals.

  • Where do you want to be in x amount of time? How do you want to feel? What do you want to achieve?
  • Make a list of your goals.
  • Break down your goals into steps and go from there. It’s important to take it slow so you don’t stress yourself out.
  • Set a time frame for when you want to accomplish each part of it.
  • Review and adjust goals and steps towards reaching them monthly.
  • Don’t let anyone put you down or tell you your goals are stupid, irrelevant etc.
  • When you lose motivation (which is completely ok) remember why you started.

Squad

Going into this I want the right people surrounding me. People who are going to cheer me on, give me brutal pep talks when needed, and be there with me through the good and the bad.

  • Start by keeping in mind you don’t needs millions of friends. A handful of friends is all you need (if so much).
  • Also, pick your friends wisely because you become like the 5 people you hang around most.
  • Ditch Toxic Relationships
  • If you’re someone who has 30 different people who you call your friends, weed through them and determine which ones would really have your back in times of need.
  • Surround yourself with positive people, negativity can affect you way more than you realize
  • I know it’s said all the time, but join a club or sport! It’s an instant way to meet someone new not to mention you already share something in common which is a bonus
  • Once you’ve established who you’re friends are, make sure you’re loyal, kind, reliable, trustworthy, and a good listener.
  • Also don’t forget to encourage your friends!

Health

Having good health is so important because it affects our emotions, thoughts, and physical body. Having good health or at least working on it will make the rest of your journey throughout life much easier.

  • Invest in a water bottle to have on hand all the time. Seeing your water bottle near you will make you more likely to want to drink water.
  • Try out a Mediterranean diet (I plan on making a different post for that later on)
  • Depending on what your day looks like, stretch 5 minutes in the morning, then exercise at least 30 minutes in the evening
  • Adopt a morning and evening routine to help make good habits and break bad ones. It can also help eliminate procrastination
  • Take multivitamins
  • Meditate - Headspace is an app that has ten minute sessions of guided meditation called Take 10 with Andy. Some of the sessions include fun animations at the start of them so you get a better idea of how meditation helps your mind. There are also mini meditation sessions for when you’re on the go and session tailored towards every age group.
  • Try to get 71/2 - 8 hours of sleep every night
  • If you have an iphone, optimized night shift to help stop the blue light that’s emitted from disrupting your sleep. I suggest turning it on at least an hour before bed. For Android users, you can search the app store for an app that cancels blue light - I believe the one I used to use is called Twilight.

Mental

  • Like I mentioned before meditate to get extra headspace
  • Eat brain foods such as: Berries, Nuts, Fish, Dark Chocolate, Avocado, Eggs, etc
  • Challenge yourself. Don’t settle with what you already know or can do, strive to be better.
  • Learn something new, whether it be a language, instrument, or a new word a day
  • Read. Read. Read. 20 minutes a day is all it takes.

Confidence

  • Get to know yourself, what you like, what you don’t like etc
  • Don’t talk badly about yourself. You’re (one of your) own best friend(s). You wouldn’t talk badly or degrade your best friend so don’t do it to yourself.
  • Stay away from negative people. Literally, walk away if you have to.
  • Be grateful - For a fun project, get a jar and decorate it as you like. Every night write one good thing that happened to you that day and place it in the jar. Then when you’re feeling less than stellar, read all the good things that have happened to you.
  • Practice self care everyday
  • Wear the clothes you feel good in
  • Walk with your head held high no matter what and stand tall
  • When you speak, speak with a purpose
  • Stop apologizing so much, especially when it’s not even your fault
  • Have good manners
  • Laugh at yourself when you make mistakes
  • Empower yourself and others
  • Fake it until you make it
  • Don’t forget to smile!

Fitness

Now it’s time to get into the physical part of things.

  • The beginning is always the hardest which means consistency (and perseverance) is key
  • Don’t skip meals. Not gonna lie I’m a huge culprit of this.
  • Create a workout routine
  • Exercise a minimum of 5 days a week. No excuses!
  • Eat Healthy
  • Always stretch before you workout to avoid injuring yourself
  • Find a workout partner. It can be a friend, sibling, or even your mum!
  • Track your progress
  • Remember ~ strive for fit not skinny!

Hygiene

Having good hygiene is so important because even when you’re not having the best day it can still determine if you look put together or not

  • Brush your teeth at least 2x a day
  • Floss! I used to shrug it off but after having braces I realized how much of a difference it made.
  • Speaking of braces - where your retainers. You didn’t endure all of that torture to revert back to their original form. Don’t want to wear them all day long or can’t? Then wear them at night.
  • Wear clean and ironed clothes
  • Make sure your fingernails (and toes) are always cleaned and trimmed.
  • Use deodorant
  • Freshen up throughout the day. Carry travel sized wipes, tissues, mouthwash, deodorant etc.
  • Remove makeup before bed - try Pond’s Cold Cleansing Cream.
  • Avoid touching your face and popping pimples

Skincare

  • First step to taking care of your skin is determining what type of skin you have (Oily, Dry, Normal, Combination)
  • Wash your face morning and night
  • Be cautious using toners - sometimes they do more harm than good
  • Moisturize all over. For your body apply a generous amount to combat dry skin. Also consider trying baby oil gel it leaves skin smooth and stays on all day long, even after showering.
  • Shower with warm water not hot water. Hot water dries out your skin.
  • Drink water! It helps to hydrate your skin
  • Do a body scrub to exfoliate your skin
  • Do a face mask 1-2x a week
  • Clean your makeup brushes
  • Don’t sleep with makeup on
  • Sleep on a silk pillowcase. If you can’t wash your pillowcase every week to get rid of germs/bacteria that can cause your face to break out.
  • Strive for 8 hours of sleep every night so your skin can repair it skin
  • Disinfect your phone with antibacterial gel or disinfectant wipes

Hair

  • Try something new with your hair such as getting it coloured or cut.
  • Now some people may think I’m crazy and dirty for doing this but I wash my hair every 1-2 weeks and straighten my hair once during that time IF I straighten it at all. I’m aware that this may not work for everyone depending on their hair type. I’m mixed Caribbean so it works for my hair.
  • Do a hot oil treatment on your hair every couple of weeks
  • Don’t forget to trim your hair
  • Keep your hair moisturized
  • Minimize the amount of heat you put on your hair
  • Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase and/or tie your hair at night

Nail Care

  • Give yourself a manicure every week. It doesn’t have to include painting your nails, it can be as simple as trimming and cleaning them.
  • Invest in cuticle oil
  • Keep nails clean
  • Keep your hands moisturized.
  • Avoid overexposure to water + harsh chemicals as they can eat away your nails
  • If your skin around your nails start to peel DON’T PICK AT IT
  • Avoid biting your nails
  • Avoid using acetone based nail polish remover
  • Always have an Emory board with you so you can fix a ripped or jagged nail
  • Disinfect and replace tools regularly

Foot Care

  • Comfortable and proper fitting shoes is an absolute must.
  • To get rid of calluses soak your feet in warm water, then use a foot file or pumice stone
  • Lotion your feet and put them in socks afterwards to soften your feet. *It won’t happen overnight so you have to do it continuously
  • Trim nails properly to avoid ingrown toenails
  • Dry your feet well
  • Inspect your feet regularly to make sure they’re healthy
  • Remember to let your feet breathe

Style

  • Try out different styles, Get inspo from polyvore, pinterest, tumblr etc
  • For a classy put together look shop for classic/neutral colours
  • Get fitted to make sure you’re wearing the right sizes
  • Wear clothes that flatter your body type
  • Get your clothes altered so they fit properly
  • Make sure you’re comfortable in the clothes you’re wearing
  • Take care of your clothes by washing, drying, and folding/hanging them the right way
  • Dress for the occasion
  • Keep your outfits simple
  • Try out different accessories to help finish off a look
  • Upcycle old clothes
  • Change out your clothes every season or every Spring and Fall

Make Up

  • Find your signature look. When people talk about your makeup, what do you want to be the thing that sets your look apart from everyone else’s?
  • Go to a makeup counter and get a makeover and get a free makeover. I think Sephora offers free 15 minute makeovers and 45 minute makeovers you have to pay for
  • When applying make up always start with a clean face
  • Start with moisturizer followed by~ primer, foundation, concealer, powder to set foundation, bronzer, blush, highlighter, shape+fill eyebrows, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lip liner + lipstick, setting spray
  • Some Beginner/Cheap Makeup Brands: Elf, NYX, Maybelline, Revlon, Covergirl, Wet and Wild

Money

  • Get a job
  • Do the $5 challenge
  • Sell your old stuff
  • Start budgeting to help set spending limits and reduce your expenses
  • Get a debit card~ you can’t spend what you don’t have
  • Have multiple sources of income if possible
  • Invest first, spend what’s left
  • Work on paying off your debts if you have any
  • Create an emergency fund

So the last step in all of this is maintaining your accomplishments. If you feel you need to go back on something by the time you’re done or part way through, go back and work on it some more. Also there are lots of other little stuff you can do to help get yourself together. I know it’s kind of long but I hope this post helps you or puts you in the right direction. If you want me to make a specific post on something don’t be afraid to shoot me a message in my ask box. I’m going to be starting this challenge on April 1st and I’ll (hopefully) be updating you guys on my progress as I go along.

Over the last little while Sam had noticed how his shirts would disappear. It started out slowly, losing one or so a week. At first he thought maybe he ruined them on a hunt and they need to get more, until the shirts that went missing reappeared occasionally.
“Hey (Y/N)?” he asks walking into your room.
“Yea Sam?” you look up from folding laundry.
“Have you seen my shirts?”
“I wash, dry, and fold clothes only. Whatever is yours I put in your room. Perhaps I misplaced and put them in Deans?”
“Yea, ok I’ll check. Thanks (Y/N).” he leaves and checks with Dean.
Puzzled he returns to your room a while later when Dean says he hasn’t seen them. By now you’re lounging on your bed reading.
He looks you over, “Wait…is that my shirt?!”
You jump looking up. You hadn’t heard him come in.
“You little minx you’ve had them this entire time.”
You bite your lip blushing, “Yea…”
“Why?”
“I like the way they smell. They smell like you, like home.”
His features soften and he sits by you, kissing you softly.
“I like them on you.”

To do list for today.
  • Take out recycling.
  • Take out trash.
  • Put away clean dishes.
  • Wash 2 1 loads of dishes.
  • Clean kitchen sink.
  • Tidy up kitchen.
  • Wash laundry.
  • Dry laundry.
  • Fold and put away laundry.
  • Do 2 1.5 1 hours of work.

About 10 things to accomplish in 8 hours, so I need to do at LEAST 1 per hour. I think I can do that?

Laundry Day

Prompt: Toys

Rating: M (NSFW)

She should have known he’d catch her red-handed.

Postponing laundry day was a mistake.

It was a huge mistake.

The worst mistake she has made by far.

There was no reason outside of pure, unfiltered laziness. Well, and busy with the steady influx of job requests that kept the whole guild busy. Still, she had made a terrible mistake.

Her lax attentions have left her with one too-tight shirt, shorts that she had sworn she got rid of because of their scandalousness, and a bra that was classified as seductive lingerie. All of these she handled. It was the panties that posed the biggest problem.

The only pair of panties left for her while she waited for the wash were black and lacy, not really out of the ordinary for her. The problem was in the design of them…and the battery operated pad that was stitched in along her cleft and down between her folds.

Alas, her negligence had left her with a single pair of vibrating panties until the washer and dryer completed cycles.

She was walking on glass, trying to ignore the fact that she was indeed secretly wearing a sex toy around the entire guild.

It wasn’t like she could do her own laundry at her apartment. The landlady had claimed the machines first and with mountains of clothes; Lucy had no time to wait. There was only this day before the team left for a job tomorrow morning. She’d have to wash, dry, fold, and put away all before the train pulled out of the station.

The only other option was to brave the embarrassment and wash an emergency load at the guild. At least she could try and save face by acting normal. The key was to pretend she wasn’t doing something scandalous.

“Hey Elfman! Have the new jobs been posted?” she asked as casually as she could, approaching the muscled man that was towering over the cork board.

The man glanced at her with a grin, flashing a sheet of parchment that he had just ripped from the board. “It has! Are you man enough for another round of work?” he bellowed, letting her scan the request for a team to run off a flock of bats that were terrorizing a town.

She grinned back, “Aye sir!”

He nodded in satisfaction before turning away, pumping his fists as he went. “Alright! Let’s do this Fairy Tail!” he cried out, the guild echoing cheers in unison.

Laughing, Lucy returned the cheer, feeling that she gained some form of normality. That was, until a light buzz of the vibrator to her cleft stole the breath from her lungs, crippling her legs with pleasure. She crumpled down with a heavy gasp, fingers gripping her thighs harshly.

‘Whoa! Are you okay, Lucy?!” Gray yelped, leaping to her side from the table he sat at, hands hovering carefully over her shoulders. Even Jet and Droy pressed forward in concern, them being the second closest to her.

Aside from the suffocating horror that her panties were probably malfunctioning, Lucy desperately grasped for any lie to escape the truth. “I-I’m f-fine!” Her hands struggled to even move from her legs and accept the help the men were offering. “I t-think I tripped!”

She staggered up, smiling at the concerned looks, “Seriously, it was an accident! I’m fine!”

Today I had a pedicure, a bath, and made a naughty chicken curry for dinner. I also did all the washing (wash, dry, fold, and put away), as well as washed all the bedding and the blankets, replaced the pillows, washed the previous cases and put the set neatly away folded into one of the pillow cases. I cleaned the room, vacuumed and organised everything, I also did food shopping for the week ahead, as well as wrote and designed the accompanying meal plan. It’s been a long day, but getting into my clean soft bed with new beautifully supportive pillows is delightful.

yesterday was good and tonight has been good, and it’s nice to say that. i’m feeling really productive and content right now, though i’ve not done a ton. but i did get a full sink-worth of dishes cleaned, as well as wash/dry/fold two loads of laundry. it really isn’t much but i feel like i’ve accomplished a lot.
the days seem to feel longer than normal - probably because my sleeping pattern is so incredibly fucked up - but yesterday/today weren’t awful and i feel good about getting things done. and i hope this feeling lasts

To-do list.

Now that I’m actually awake at 1:30 PM. Ugh. It feels like I needed that, though.

  • Wash 2 loads of dishes.
  • Wash laundry.
  • Dry laundry.
  • Fold and put away laundry.
  • Wash towels.
  • Dry towels.
  • Fold and put away towels.
  • Cook dinner.
  • Work on budget.
  • Tidy up apartment.
  • Get things together for tomorrow.

That’s 11 things to do between about 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, so ~2 things per hour. I can do this.

Gonna make some tea for caffeine before I get started.

A while ago I built this laundromat, which I never use, and this tech shop, which is also seldom used. I thought it might be a good idea to combine them into a weird convenience store hybrid for my university sims, because I need a place where they can buy both cologne and cellphones at the same time.

The laundromat portion sells household supplies for cleaning/laundry, as well as toiletries like tissues/pads/condoms, and of course, has a place to wash, dry & fold your laundry. The tech portion sells games, odd gadgets, and cellphones /mp3s/the handheld gaming system. Seeing as I really only needed the cellphone/cologne stands, it’s basically a fancy set built around them. :P

Now originally I planned to share this, but I took one look at the file size and realized I fucked up. It’s 1GB; I don’t know how, and I don’t even know what items are having such a big impact on the file size. I tried taking out all the clutter, and then all the tech stuff, and neither helped. It runs fine though, so I’ll definitely use it for my own sims.

If you don’t mind ridiculous file sizes, I did upload it to sfs here. Otherwise, I figured I’d just share the pictures anyways for possible ~inspiration.

There was a similar ask that was already answered called Singing Their Songs. The difference being you singing one of their songs and you can’t sing. But, since you didn’t request those specifics, I wrote a scenario for you anyway. However, I felt really emotional while writing this (good emotional), so it’s gonna be what you asked for expect with extra, extra stuff. Like monster paragraphs that occurred on their own.

*DearlyB: Look at this shit. Cheezy is really excited for this comeback y’all. These scenarios are long as hell, but I ain’t complaining.*

It feels like climbing forward only to slide back. It feels like cleaning half the house only get sick and find it’s already in disarray two days later. It feels like a sink full of dirty dishes you just can’t empty, no matter how hard you work, because it’s filling up faster than you can wash. It feels like an overflowing laundry basket you can’t empty no matter how you wash and dry and fold and repeat. It feels like you just can’t get caught up. It feels like just enough productivity for people to deny you have a real problem but not enough productivity to ever get ahead. It feels like break downs and crashing and burning and pushing yourself too hard and barely reaching average. It feels like my life with the unholy trinity - ADHD PI, anxiety and depression. This is just what I’m stuck with. This is just me.

Servant of a God

Ellery sighed, leaning his back against the cold, stone wall and sliding down until he sat curled up on the floor. It had been a long day, cleaning Loki’s bedchamber, washing, drying and folding his clothes, and of course polishing his armour. The whole ordeal had taken hours upon hours, and he was exhausted. He gazed up at the ceiling, dark and impossibly high, though he knew in truth it was only slightly more than seven metres tall. Another of Loki’s little spells, to give his quarters their beautiful, otherworldly feeling.

He didn’t expect Loki to return for at least another hour, so let his head fall back and his eyes close, and before long he slipped into a light sleep. Ellery stayed that way for a few minutes, his breaths soft and deep, and of course he didn’t hear a thing as the door opened.

[It had been a few days since Frankie and Scott had- well, Frankie didn’t really want to think about what they had done. Still, it had been a few days since he had seen Scott in the laundry room. A few days which felt so much longer; as though weeks had passed. It was awkward, especially since they were in the same dorm. As soon as he entered the room on a night, he pretended to fall straight to sleep. When he heard the noises signalling sleep coming from the other beds, he took the quietest shower possible, then he lay in bed until everyone else woke up, waiting for the dorm to fall silent before hurrying away to do his chores. Maybe Frankie spent more time doing chores than absolutely necessary, escaping into the laundry room to wash, dry and fold the laundry as often as he could; it gave him something to do, though; a mindless task that didn’t require much thought, yet was in some way useful to the other people in the colony. He had barely slept, he had barely eaten, and it showed. He did manage at least a couple of hours sleeping a night, which was hardly different from usual, really; he also found the best times to rush into the dining hall so that he could grab a little food and flee before many people saw him. He felt guilty, for hurting Scott - not just physically when he punched him, but also, he assumed, mentally or emotionally, too. Those feelings of guilt were at war within him, though, as the hatred he usually felt towards himself had been amped up considerably. It was nearing the end of the week, and Frankie was looking forward to getting out of the laundry room and moving on to a new chore. He couldn’t stand to be in there, knowing that was the room in which he had hurt Scott and brought shame unto himself, shame and hate mixed with a lingering fear - his father was gone, long gone as far as Frankie knew, and yet the fear remained that he had disappointed his father and would suffer accordingly.
Frankie had, it seemed, successfully isolated himself, at least on a temporary basis. Those he shared chores with didn’t seem to notice that Frankie spent most of his time in any corner of the room staring blankly at his hands as they worked to do the laundry; his routine of pretending to be asleep had worked so far, allowing him to hide away from the people he shared a dorm with; he never entered the dining hall during the busy times, and any free time he could scavenge was spent in the old chapel. He was pretty sure by this point that if the God he had spent his life believing in truly existed, he would be pretty damn pissed at Frankie by now, for all that he had done… and yet Frankie still spent as much time as he could sitting in a dark corner of the chapel, his head bowed, eyes closed and hands clasped together as he knelt on the hard floor. He had become a ghost, or so he liked to think; he didn’t want people to see him, to talk to him or question him about anything. He wanted to hide.

Today was another one of those days. But as he knelt in the chapel, the anger that had silently been building up inside of himself, the rage towards himself, began to bubble up to the surface. He had to get out, he needed to get the fuck out of there, and he blinked back tears of pure frustration as he left the chapel. He stood outside the chapel, in as much shade as he could, while he debated where to go. Run in for food? Return to the dorm and pretend to sleep? Or drink. Drinking sounded good. His father had always turned to alcohol when he was pissed off - usually at Frankie - and if his father did it, then it had to be what Frankie should do. And yet he knew how many people would be in Catch 22… knowing his luck, it would be busier than he had ever seen it before. So, rounding the corner of the chapel, he sat on the ground, staring down. He was out of sight here, from most directions that people could come from, and he sat in silence.]
