Last night I was cleaning something that put me in clear view of anyone entering the store. Which meant I got a lot of people asking me questions since I was the first person they’d see as they came in. One such couple took me by surprise. When they came up to me I thought they’d be troublesome because they looked like snooty people. Super attractive to the point of looking like models, especially the woman. They asked me the dreaded question. “Are you still selling alcohol?” Here in WI we can’t sell hard liquor after 9 PM, and it was well past that.
I braced myself and told them that. I fully expected them to start yelling at me. But they didn’t. They asked me a second question instead politely. “Is that everything or just the hard stuff?”. In my panic I forgot about that, so I said “Oh, yeah, it’s not all of it” so I took them to the aisle and pointed out the stuff in the cooler, which is not against the law to sell after 9pm since they’re low alcohol content and it wasn’t 12 am yet. They thanked me and that was that. Kind of feel shitty for assuming the worst based on their looks.
Also had a really nice bunch of other customers that didn’t get mad at me when I asked them to repeat themselves due to my partial hearing in one ear, which was also nice. -Abby
