Doing warrior 2, for the first really feeling it. Isn’t it crazy you learn from videos or a book then one day someone helps correct your form and the difference is amazing. I’m really feeling it like i never have before and i guess you could say now, after almost 10 months of yoga i’m finally learning it right.

In the aforementioned class, I had an amazing instructor who made this pose really click for me. She said, “This is a Warrior pose. How would a warrior stand? Fierce. Strong. Powerful.” As soon as she said that, my stance changed. Instead of feeling beaten by this pose (which we had been holding for what seemed like an eternity at this point), I felt empowered by it.

Warrior II, Virabhadrasana II variation against the wall 

-Doing poses against the wall is a HUGE lesson for your body. Doing postures with the wall enforces great body awareness, aligning your body properly along the wall is a great tool to help advance your practice and teach you the proper ways to do the postures without injury! The wall is your friend! Use it! :)

Recently i’ve seen many posts on tumblr going around about mulan. And it’s got me in a i-can-be-a-kick-ass-princess-warrior mood haha
And my yoga outfit sure makes me feel that way too haha do these harem pants not remind you of the ones they wore in the movie? Haha and i’m in warrior 2 anyway. Who’s gonna get me a helmet and shield. And some body armour and boots would be good too haha but this yogi is ready to be a warrior princess 💪

#Hawaii is so amazing, the weather is so beautiful and there are so many outdoor spaces to practice! I felt so lucky to lead these ladies in a flow at the University of Hawaii’s Japanese Tea Garden 😍😍😍 the birds were singing, the sun was shining and the breeze was kissing our faces… I hope to be back in Hawaii soon!

DAY 12 of the #30LoveYoga Challenge is Warrior II Pose or Virabhadrasana II.

“You have the power to shape the world. Do not let the world shape you.”

Stand in Tadasana. With an exhalation, step or lightly jump your feet 3 ½ to 4 feet apart. Raise your arms parallel to the floor and reach them actively out to the sides, shoulder blades wide, palms down.

Turn your right foot slightly to the right and your left foot out to the left 90 degrees. Align the left heel with the right heel. Firm your thighs and turn your left thigh outward so that the center of the left knee cap is in line with the center of the left ankle.

Exhale and bend your left knee over the left ankle, so that the shin is perpendicular to the floor. If possible, bring the left thigh parallel to the floor. Anchor this movement of the left knee by strengthening the right leg and pressing the outer right heel firmly to the floor.

Stretch the arms away from the space between the shoulder blades, parallel to the floor. Don’t lean the torso over the left thigh: Keep the sides of the torso equally long and the shoulders directly over the pelvis. Press the tailbone slightly toward the pubis. Turn the head to the left and look out over the fingers.

Stay for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Inhale to come up. Reverse the feet and repeat for the same length of time to the left.
