Chapter 1: Blind Patience Act 1

Chara stood over the bed. The child lay on it, sleeping, but not breathing. Chara breathing intesified.

‘I cannot risk you recovering…’ Chara said, getting angrier by the second. They carefully stood beside the bed, and slowly brought one hand closer to the child’s neck.

‘So please….die.’

The hand came closer to the neck. And closer.

This is it, Chara thought, this is it…..if I pull this off….if I do this….then-

But before they could finish their thought, one of the child’s hands suddenly shot up and caught Chara by the lower arm, taking them by surprise. The child sat up, and screamed, ‘MAMA!!’

Chara jumped back with a yelp. The child nearly fell over from the bed, shivering. They pulled back on to the bed, and stared ahead. Chara thought they were staring at them, but realized they were actually staring at the wall behind them. He looked closer.

The child, indeed, was looking at the wall behind them.

Chara slowly stood up, observing the human. The child put a hand on their bed sheets, and then the other. A look of confusion came over their face. She looked around, saying, ‘Mama?’

Not sure what to do, our prince quickly made up their mind, and said, ‘Your mother isn’t here.’

The child looked at Chara’s direction, but not at Chara themself. They said, ‘What? But…where am I?’

Chara was quickly running out of ideas and time, and said, ‘That’s not important.’

The child again asked, ‘Where am I?’

‘I said…that’s not important. What is important… why are you looking at the wall? I’m here!’ Chara waved their hands while angrily saying this. Not only had their plan failed due to the human in front of them waking up, but they weren’t even looking at them. And it seemed like they were doing it on purpose.

The child blinked, and looked around in their general direction. ‘Where?’

‘Right he-’

‘I can’t see you.’

Chara stopped. What?

‘What did you just say?’

‘I….can’t….see you.’ The panic in their voice grew, ‘I….I can’t see!’ They started fidgeting, but then slumped back on their pillow. Chara was flabbergasted. They were quick to collect their wits, though.

So I have a blind human here…that was unexpected….but they’re not dead. They would matter more like that.

Chara slowly made their way to the child, putting their hands up (Which was a useless thing to do, considering the scared kid was blind), saying soothingly, ‘Now, calm down, ok? Calm down…’

The child looked in their direction again, and said, in a panicked tone, ‘But…but…I can’t see….how do I know where you are?’

Chara moved closer. Their eyes were on the kid’s throat. If I can just…do it quickly….

‘Don’t worry….I’ll take good care of you….’

A Long List of Ways to Spiritually Protect Yourself

(Updated from this old list here.)

Shielding is a practice entirely built on your intention–if you want an eternal shield, you can have it. If you believe in your shield, it will be there. There are many ways that are incredibly powerful with just the slightest trust and a little bit of practice. As soon as possible, start to practice shielding and methods of spiritual protection, since practice, along with your intention, will create the most powerful shields.

Also, you can never shield to much. It’s amazing and very empowering to have layer upon layer of shielding, and the energy and time you put into shielding will really save you a lot of energy and time in the future. Even just walking around, through crowds, cities, etc, drains your energy–negative energy is everywhere, and consciously seeking only the energy for your best and highest good will really, truly, and completely empower you.

You can shield from anything and everything, just make sure to allow in things for your “best and highest interest/good.” ShCast every shield with this affirmation. This allows what people would consider “negative” emotions to still come through, so you can live a balanced life, since not all emotions that are considered negative actually are. This affirmation effectively only allows things that raise or balance your vibration, and help you to spiritually evolve. It won’t cut you off from anything necessary. Shields themselves will never overwhelm or smother you, since they are meant solely for your needs and will always let in positive energy. Here are some simple methods to begin shielding, but you can always adopt them with your own needs and intentions! Do what works for you, just make sure to shield when practicing spirit or energy work of any sort.

Robe of White Light:

  • Focus for a moment on calming yourself, and once you have a clear mind, imagine a nice fluffy robe around you (I always imagine one like in the game Journey) made of white and protective light. This is the universe’s energy, and nothing ill can penetrate it once it is surrounding you.
  • It is recommended to repeat once or twice a day to maintain the shielding.
  • You can also use the affirmation of “I call upon a robe of loving and protective white light, knowing that it will protect me from all energy not in my highest interest. This robe protects me with the power of the Universe/Source/God.”

Guardian Protection:

  • Ask your guardian spirits (either aloud or through your mind) to protect you.
  • Always command that the guardians who help that they “come in light.” And if not, say they must leave. You don’t even have to know their name, but if they aren’t here to help, then they shouldn’t be around you. So just command this and all with ill intentions will be forced to leave.
  • Call on them for a need by need basis.

Auric Hardening:

  • Imagine your aura (trust whatever color you see in your mind’s eye), and then imagine it hardening, like it’s calcifying around you. It can get as hard as a rock, or like armor.
  • This can sometimes push away any energy exchanges, so you could feel more distant from positive interactions too. So, it’s best used when a threat is around
  • Usually lasts between 4 hours-2 days, depending on the strength of your intention.

Sigil warding:

  • Draw with a pen, marker, or with the tip of your finger (if you don’t need visible lines) a sigil with the intention of protecting yourself. A sigil is most basically an energetic line (or series of them) with an intention. The lines hold the energy and magnify the intention.
  • Here are examples
  • A post on sigil crafting

Shielding with Intention and the Universe:

  • Calm yourself with a short breathing meditation, then focus on what you intend to shield-yourself, another, or a place.
  • Imagine casting a ball of light towards the designated target, with the intention of allowing the Universe/Source to channel through you and shield whatever you intend to.
  • Just watch and observe as the shield is built, knowing that it is fully fueled by the energy of the Universe and will stay there, and stay strong, until the shield is released consciously by you.
  • You can specify this shield for certain purposes, like to only keep a spirit out, or to keep all negative spirits out.

Reiki Shielding and Protection:

  • In Usui Reiki, there is a technique your Reiki Masters should have taught you about warding and cleansing the room in white light. Channel Reiki energy to do this.
  • If you are attuned to Reiki II, you should know the 1st symbol and that it can be used to stop all energy that is not in your highest good from coming towards you, working as an effective shield when the symbol is called on.
  • You need to be properly attuned to Reiki for this.

Bubble shielding:

  • Similar to the white light or shielding with intention, but focusing on making and empowering a bubble around you.
  • Replenish this as often as possible, since this is dependent on your own care.
  • Can be in an oval or a sphere shape. If this is hard to get a hang of, then try just fitting it a couple inches away from your body, similar to auric hardening.

Waterfall shielding:

  • A bubble shield with the intention of existing on top of an underneath bubble shield.
  • Focus on this shield and set the intention of having it move around like a waterfall. This way, someone sending negative energy has a very small chance of hitting the same place twice.

Elemental shielding:

All of these are built with a specific intention and visualization of the shield. Time around such element used will strengthen the shield, or a conscious meditation to draw the energy towards you and the shield.

  • Fire shield: Envision burning fire, that will destroy all negative energy/energy not for your highest good, when it tries to enter your energetic space.
  • Water shield: Similar to the waterfall shield, but with the visual of actual water flowing that can wash away all negative debris or toxicity clinging to any form of bubble shield underneath it.
  • Earth shielding: This one can block off positive energy too, since it works more like a layer of earth around the person. Though, it can also be envisioned to only grow/manifest around you in times of need or when you’re being attacked or faced with negative energy. It can also block your third eye from seeing outside. Earth shielding can also work as a means of grounding you, which doesn’t have negative effects (as long as you don’t neglect your upper chakras). If you ground yourself to the earth, and your are harmed or shaken by negative energy, you can replenish your energy from the earth.
  • Air shielding: Envision a fast current of air around you that sweeps away all negative energy or malevolent beings.
  • Light shielding: A bright white light that totally purifies all energy that contacts it, similar to the robe of white light. Different colored lights can work too, but they all have specific purposes that you should research first.
  • Ether shielding: Sometimes this works like a portal, transporting all malevolent energy to another place in the universe. Just make sure to set the intention that things in your best and highest interest aren’t affected, and that the travel won’t severely harm anyone who is transported by the portal (since sometimes negative energy can come from just someone in a bad mood).
  • Chaos shielding: Not always considered an element, but with the idea of scattering any negative energy–the sudden increase in entropy raises the vibration to something more positive.
  • Shadow and smoke shielding: Imagining either element around you, mostly for cloaking and making your energy less obvious. This is great for astral projection and spiritual travel when you don’t want to be noticed. You can infuse the energy with an intention of how you want to be perceived, like if a threat comes, then you can suddenly raise this shield and make the smoke cause you to seem dangerous, scaring off the opponent.

Halo shielding:

  • Imagine a series of halos that spin quickly around you, moving to knock away negative energy if it approaches your space. This can be inside or outside of a bubble or light based shield.

Protection charms and enchanted objects:

  • Work made by you, when you have a lot of experience, in creating a sigil charm or enchanted object meant for protection. This can also be from someone who has passed down a family protection amulet (just research it and bathe it in light to clear any possible negative energy on it), or from an experienced energy worker making protection amulets, charms, or objects.
  • Some are religiously charged, like crosses, pentagrams, etc. If this matches your belief, your belief will empower it.
Top Ward Mistakes II

These are some common reasons why wards, even powerful ones, fail at times. I have noticed these over the years, through my mistakes and others.

…The Ceiling. Did you remember to ward your ceiling? It doesn’t matter how powerful the walls are if an entity can just jump over it.

…The Floor. Also doesn’t matter how strong the walls are if the entity can just dig under it.

A Circle Doesn’t Fit Into A Square: Does the shape of the ward match the room you are in? While a circle is the most stable when standalone, not clinging to anything else, it’s still weaker than something tied to something physical- such as the walls, floors, and ceilings of your space. Thus, even the best spherical ward will still fade out much quicker than something tied to the physical structure of your house. Additionally, having a circle in your (most likely) square-ish shaped room will leave certain corners without protection; you want the intruder to be kept out of your house in the first place, not just certain parts of it.

The Corners, Edges, Etc: Building on the previous point, even when the ward is tied to the physical structure of the house, many people don’t pay attention to the corners or edges where the ward bends- this is often where the ward is usually weakest. You want to double check that the ward is solid on those portions and maybe even visualize something tougher holding it together there,  as the bending usually makes it more fragile near those certain points.

I finished retexturing the Midnight Hollow hospital rabbit hole this morning. The top picture is EA’s, and the bottom one is mine. I know the changes are subtle, but I think it looks less derelict now and generally suits Moonlight Falls better. As usual, the project took longer than I thought it would, but I feel happier with my decision to use that rabbit hole in Serendipity so it was worth it. :D

Stones to Ward Off Fae

Iron is a common way to ward off the fae and can be found in some crystals and gemstones. These stones can be warn in your pocket, put in a sachet, placed by windows, doors, and in the corners of a room to ward it, or can be warn as jewelry to keep the fae away. Or, you could avoid these stones if you want to interact with fae!

  • Hematite
  • Pyrite
  • Black tourmaline
  • Rubellite (pink or red) tourmaline
  • Hypersphene
  • Peridot
  • Nephrite
  • Rhodonite
  • Amethyst
  • Carnelian
  • Citrine

The first three have the highest iron content (it’s in their chemical formulas) so they make the strongest wards. It’s interesting to note that the last three actually have the same chemical formula (SiO2), the difference in color comes mainly from trace minerals and the specific type of iron included (ferric vs ferrous vs iron compounds)

Thank you so much for all of the help with this to everyone who assisted me. @vera-tala was the one with the beautiful window that I drew inspiration from and was the reason this whole room could come together. @desertguncatte and @solidseq thank you for crafting things, getting me things, trading things between my characters, and listening to me curse up a storm as I tried to line things up just right. Thank you @kuro-me for telling me to put a damn stool behind the telescope.

anonymous asked:

What do you think is the best way to contact a spirit for a beginner spirit worker? Thanks you :)

hi anon!

this is a great question that can vary in answer depending on who you’re asking. for some people who started and stuck exclusively with spirit shops and conjurers, they may recommend exactly that! for others who meet spirits without the aid of shops, they may recommend conjuring yourself, or even taking a look around your house or neighborhood. spirits exist everywhere and are all around us, so the options are endless.

first off: protections

for a beginner, i first want to recommend knowing how to protect yourself. before you even begin meeting spirits or contacting them, ensure you know how to ward yourself and your room and/or personal space. in ideal situations i would recommend also warding your entire house, if possible, but i know that can be a bit difficult, especially if you use tools to help ward and you live with people who may not know you’re a spirit worker. i experience that particular problem myself, so i can relate. protections at the very least will ensure that if something goes wrong, you will remain safe.

now, on to the fun part: meeting a spirit!

spirits are easier to find than you think

something i didn’t realize when beginning spirit work is that spirits are all around us, all the time. that tree in your backyard? it most likely has a spirit. those crossroads where those two streets intersect by your house? spirits probably pass through there. that lake you might walk by once in a while? there are likely spirits that call that lake home. live in more of an urban environment? no worries- spirits live there too. spirits call many places home, and once you come to terms with this reality, everything will change for you, both in positive and negative ways. remember: spirit work is dangerous. but you know what else is dangerous? driving and swimming- two things that a lot of people do on a near daily basis. just as you learn the right precautions you need to take before you get behind the wheel or enter the water, you do the same before you get involved with spirits. but once you’re able to drive, or swim, or interact with spirits, and you do so safely, you will be opening yourself up to a world of opportunities and wonderful experiences, as well as danger. regardless of the outcomes, though, driving, swimming, and spirit work are all learning experiences. it’s appreciating your newfound experiences and everything that comes along with it, positive and negative, that’s key to making spirit work a really wonderful thing.

now, i often times see beginners discuss how they conjure spirits to meet them. while that practice is completely valid, i would not recommend it for a beginner for one simple reason: why put in all of that work when you have spirits around you already? i dunno about you, but i love being lazy. if there’s a short but efficient route i can take, i’ll take it, and reaching out to spirits that already exist around you is exactly that: short, sweet, and efficient. use the resources already at your disposal!

and so ultimately, my recommendation for a beginner spirit worker who wants to contact a spirit is to use proper protections, discernment, respect, and caution to introduce yourself to a spirit who already lives close by. now, if you’re asking yourself, “but what if i can’t feel spirits yet? how do i find one if i can’t sense them?”, then you’ll need to back up a tiny bit, but only for a moment.

recognizing what’s familiar so we can recognize what’s unfamiliar

i mentioned before that trees contain spirits. trees are old, hulking giants that have seen so many things. if possible, find a tree that you can sit under for a few hours, and make sure you bring a laptop or a notebook and pen. whether a spirit worker or not, lounging under trees is a common thing done by many people, and so you likely won’t be infringing on what the tree spirit considers its space, as it’s already something so frequently shared.

while there, relax and focus. it may take you a bit to find that sweet spot between comfortable and attentive, but take your time, be patient, and you’ll get there. while focusing (or meditating, if you’d like to slip into a deeper state of consciousness), sense what you feel around you. is there a breeze? how are you breathing? are you hungry? do you hear people talking? are there cars driving by? focus on each external force that is acting in and around you. once you recognize each one of these distractions, mentally label it, and then let it go. visualization here can help. for me, i mentally picture myself writing “cars”, “talking”, or “stomach growling” on a little paper boat and sending it down a river. be creative, and imagine yourself acknowledging and then removing each one of these external forces acting around you.

these things will continue to happen around you, of course, but by acknowledging these distractions and then letting them go, you will begin to feel the silence underneath everything. it is in this silence we are able to sense spirits. often times people try to forcibly tune out the things happening around them in order to concentrate, but in doing so, they instead wind up harping on these things, stunting their ability to concentrate. but, if you recognize each potential distraction and then let it slip away from your attention, you will feel less inclined to focus on it. in doing this, we get one step closer to putting all of our attention on sensing spirits.

as we understand and recognize the energies and distractions that come from the mundane world around us, including the energies and distractions that come from ourselves, we will begin to pick up on energies we are unfamiliar with. often times, these unfamiliar energies are spirits whose vibrations and energies we have tapped into after we recognize, understand, and discard the familiar energies around us.

starting small (or large): listening to trees

as your focus turns its back on those distractions, you are able to place your attention elsewhere- in this case, on spirits. as you sit under that tree, begin to focus on what energies the tree is giving off. do you see colors? do you hear the impressions of a voice? or maybe you are experiencing feelings that you know are not your own because, as stated above, you recognized how you are feeling and know what to expect from yourself. any energies, feelings, colors, sounds, etc, that you experience while focusing on that tree can be the tree’s spirit communicating with you, with other trees around it, or with itself. but regardless who that info is meant to be going to, it is still information coming from the tree’s spirit. if possible, write down any and all sensations and experiences you receive from that tree. then, using proper discernment in the form of meditation or divination tools, for example, reflect back on what you experienced. then, repeat this process. go back to the tree some time later, focus on it, and see what information you receive then. crosscheck your experiences with your previous ones, and even do a little research. what else do other people experience when they hang out with a tree spirit?

from there, as you get more and more comfortable with the methods you use to pick up on this tree spirit, move onto different spirits. as you practice, you may not need to sit down and meditate to find a spirit. over time, you may be able to pick up on those unfamiliar energies while you’re out and about, and in doing so, you may find a spirit that lives in a store you frequently go to, for example, without having to sit down and meditate on it.

if my tree method does not work for you because of your living environment, don’t worry. are there flowers outside? can you afford a potted plant, maybe? do you live by a beach? do you own crystals? all of these things, and all of these locations will contain spirits that may be willing to share info with you. the reason i recommend starting with a tree or other plants is because they tend to be easy to work with, and often times far less malicious than other spirits you may come across. but don’t be fooled! plant and tree spirits have their own personalities. you may find one that’s a bit snippy or grumpy. don’t always expect that a little flower will be kind!

now, that is just one recommendation i can give, which i personally find is the best one. but! other people will likely give you very different answers!

what about spirit shops?

do you feel comfortable purchasing from a conjurer? then maybe you can try out a spirit shop. if you find a shop, i highly recommend reading reviews and see how the shop treat their spirits. do they create listings that read like items that are being sold? or do their listings read like profiles for living entities who are autonomous and have their own wants/needs/desires, and are fully in control of the companion they will be going home to? as well, see if you can find how much experience the shop owners/conjurers have. in my experience, all reputable shops should have a detailed “about” page that explains the full extent of that shop owners experience. and finally, trust your gut. how you feel when looking through someone’s shop is key to determining if you’d like to work with them. you’ll be contacting and bringing home a friend who should 1) want to be in that shop and 2) want to go with you. in my opinion, if you sense any red flags, then stay the hell away.

what about conjuring?

and lastly, there’s the conjuring option. this i just… don’t recommend, personally. spirit work is risky in every way, shape, and form, but when you conjure, you have no idea who will show up, especially if you’re a beginner.

in conclusion…

the choice is up to you. how do you feel you’d best experience spirit work as a beginner? do you feel safe going outside and trying to commune with a spirit? would you rather have someone from a shop pair you up with a spirit? or maybe you think you’ll have a knack for conjuring! ultimately the decision is yours. i do hope i was able to provide some info to help guide you along the way, though!

well anon, i wish the best of luck to you! if you have any questions or comments for me, please feel free to drop by!

anonymous asked:

can you please do a fic of elide and lorcan arguing infront of the entire court with everyone watching????? PLEASE?!

A misunderstanding leads to an argument and eventually a blushing/happy ending!

A few silky strands of black starless night hair fell from Elide’s coiled bun as she briskly walked through the castle halls. Her gait uneven as her ankle twinged in pain, but she paid no attention to it. Just like she ignored the pounding steps that could be heard toward the castle’s entryway.

“Elide!” The walls shook at the deep sound of the male’s furious tone.

Her steps did not falter, but her heart did.

No. Do not feel guilty.

She stepped into the throne room hoping to use it as a shortcut to her guest room during her time Ornyth. A locked door wouldn’t stop him, but maybe he would reconsider and calm himself before approaching her.

“ELIDE!” Lorcan’s voice boomed. Much closer than Elide expected.

“What the hell is going?” Aelin drawled from her throne. Her calm demeanor made Elide walk faster toward her Queen. Rowan looked between Elide and the door she had just walked through.

Lysandra stood nearby with Aedion at her side. Both with varying looks of confusion until their nostrils flared. Lysandra’s eyes narrowed and glowed with the hint of her snow leopard form prowling underneath.

Rowan and Aedion eyes trained on something behind Elide. Their stances were rigid in anticipation at whatever storm had just entered the room.

Elide didn’t have to turn around to know who stood behind her. She could feel his dark presence wrapping around her body like a cloak.

“Elide,” Lorcan growled. His voice barely understandable.

“Not now Lorcan,” Elide said sharply. She was not about to have this conversation in front of Aelin’s Court.

“When? After you lock yourself in your room and refuse to see me?” Lorcan moved to stand in front of Elide. Blocking her path to the set of doors that would lead her to the guest rooms.

“Well at least that would give you plenty to take Essar back to your room then wouldn’t it?” Elide replied with a glare.

“Essar is here?” Rowan raised a brow at Aelin who shrugged one shoulder. They were expecting the fae female for some time now. Apparently Elide was never notified that Essar was a previous lover of Lorcan’s. Aelin almost pitied the male if it wasn’t for the fact that Elide’s statement made her question that pity.

“Essar and I are nothing,” Lorcan said. His long dark hair fell over his equally dark eyes. “There was never any love between us. Perhaps one-sided affection from her, but that quickly diminished.”

“Then explain to me exactly what I overheard in the market today,” Elide bit out. “In fact I’m sure other witnesses would wonder why my mate had agreed to meet some other woman in his room later!”

Aelin and the others blinked in surprise. Both that the Elide’s statement and her furious tone that would have brought lesser men quaking in their boots.

Except Lorcan was not just any man. He was a fae male hardened by centuries of gory battles. He simply narrowed his eyes at the shorter female fuming before him.

“Perhaps if you would listen then I can explain-”

“Oh this out to be good,” Lysandra murmured to Aedion.

Lorcan shot the female shifter a glare before returning his attention back to Elide. “I am not meeting Essar for…intimate relations.”

Elide rolled her eyes. “No need to act innocent with your words Lorcan. We both know your experience with woman,” she turned her head away to glare at the grey stonewalls covered in Terrasen banners. “I just thought you only devoted yourself to one woman at a time,” Elide finished despondently. Wondering if their bond as mates wasn’t a good enough reason for Lorcan. Or if Elide was lacking in some way.

Lorcan snarled. His canines showed clearly with his next words. “You’re right,” his words lashed out even though a part of his mind urged him to stop. Hellas reached to leash in Lorcan’s rage as he sensed Elide’s anger and self-doubt. But if Elide wanted brutal honesty then Lorcan would channel it with his words. “I’ve bedded too many women to count and only saw them for what they could offered inside a bedroom.”

“Then what’s stopping you now!” Elide choked back tears. “It’s not like you haven’t crushed my heart before so why stop now?”

Lorcan winced.  Elide bit her bottom lip. Wishing too late that she hadn’t brought up his betrayal that happened years ago on beach that still brought back horrid memories. Elide could still remember her tear’s falling to the sand as Aelin’s blood dripped down her back from whip lashings.

The throne room was silent. Aelin and the others stood watching what would happen next.

Lorcan went deathly still. His onyx eyes dulled in the memory that Elide dredged up from his past. A decision he made that he’s regretted each day since.

Elide watched Lorcan carefully. She saw the pain of his actions flicker in eyes like a glint of a blade. Opening a wound that hadn’t healed and probably never would.

Her hand clenched into a small fist. Shaking from her emotions that were suffocating her. A slight nudge, perhaps from Anneith or the bond she shared between Lorcan, made Elide slowly reach out. Her shaking fingers grazed his scarred dark hand intending to grasp it. To apologize for letting her anger and sadness get the better of her. By inflicting a barbed statement that cut him to the core.

Such a pathetic little girl. Vernon’s vile voice crept into her mind. You couldn’t save Kaltain nor could you stop your Queen from being whisked away by Maeve. And now your mate seeks the bed of another. You are worthless to them Elide-

“Don’t,” Lorcan’s command halted Elide’s thoughts with frightening severity. He had only said the words to seize the negative thoughts that plagued her mind. But Elide didn’t know that. She thought he didn’t want her touching him.

Her fingers fell from his. The loss of that brief warmth severed something inside Elide. She barely held back the hot tears threatening to stream down her face.

Lorcan wondered how this woman before him could utterly have him at her mercy in a single word. How those tears in her eyes could break him more than a hundred years worth of bloody battles.

He could feel her retreating. The bond confirming his suspicions as he felt a wall being drawn up between them. But he heard her thoughts clearly as if she had spoken them. Her bastard of an uncle tainting her mind with false whispers even though he had long since died by the hand of Lorcan’s merciless hatchet.

Elide’s breath hitched as she turned to leave him as tears finally fell.

“Don’t,” Lorcan repeated. His arm grabbed her elbow and he could tell the others in the room tensed.

She looked up at him with a harsh face with wet trails down her cheeks. “Take your hand off me.” The words were quiet, yet deafening in Lorcan’s ears.

He had always given her space when requested. Knew that there were boundaries not to be crossed. But this moment Lorcan broke that unspoken rule between them.

His mouth tightened as his hand gradually drifted down to take her hand – her fingers dwarfed in his.

“Do not think for one second,” Lorcan began. “That you are pathetic or worthless.”

Elide stilled. Her heartbeat fluttering rapidly in her chest like a hummingbird’s wings. She did not respond to Lorcan’s words.

Lorcan leaned down. His dark hair brushed against her as his forehead rested gently against hers.

“Elide Lochan, Lady of Perranth, you have faced monsters that even the strongest fae warriors would cower at,” Lorcan said. His breath mingling with Elide’s. “You’ve dedicated yourself to assisting your Queen and friends even at the risk of your own life countless of times. You were significant and vital to Terrasen’s growth after years of agony.”

Lorcan paused. Waiting until Elide looked up at him with tired eyes glimmering in hope. “You are invaluable. Precious. And I love you more than anything in this world or the next.”

Elide blinked. “But…Essar-”

“Is in the past like the other women who agreed for simple sex. Nothing more.” Lorcan said. “But Elide…you’re my salvation. A future I can only hope to prove each day that I’m worthy of you.”

“Then why is she coming to your room?” Elide’s free hand fisted into the fabric above her heart. Wishing to push back the pain that pounded with each beat

“Because I have unfinished documents in my room that I need to give her, but someone,” Lorcan set a seething glare at Rowan. “Never signed his signature which is why Essar now has to come here since the signatures need to be conducted in a magically sealed room.”

“He is right,” Rowan interjected. “Since Lorcan and I are signing off on the treaties between Wendlyn cities and Terresan we figured it would be best to do so in an room without threat of intrusion or magic seeping in. We concluded that by using Lorcan’s room he could ward the room while Essar and I finished signing the last papers.”

“So Lorcan’s purpose in this treaty is for his magical shields?” Aedion pondered.

“We would have used the main room or even mine and Rowan’s room,” Aelin said. “But Lorcan balked at the idea saying that the room would probably smell of-”

“There is no need to say it!” Lorcan interrupted with a slight blush on his dark cheeks. “We know how often you and Rowan spend in that room. And we all know you are not just sleeping in there.”

Aelin grinned with a teasing glint in her eye.

“What’s wrong Lorcan. Surely you aren’t embarrassed to be in a room where Rowan and I spend hours fu-”

“Aunt Aelin!” Evangeline bounded into the throne room with a stumbling maid trailing after her.

“I’m sorry my Queen, but miss Evangeline insisted on seeing you and the others,” the maid gasped before Aelin dismissed her with a brief nod.

Lorcan thanked the gods for Evangeline’s interruption. But the knowing look in Elide’s eyes made him sweat nervously.

“So,” Elide whispered in his ear. “You hosted the treaty signings in your room because you didn’t want to be in a room where Aelin and Rowan had…intimate relations?” She added the last part with a wink.

Lorcan groaned. “Can we please not bring this up again?”

Elide laughed and the others in the room that heard her laugh knew that the misunderstanding between her and Lorcan had cleared up.

“Perhaps, but only if you make it up to me,” Elide brushed a hand down Lorcan’s firm chest. His muscles twitched underneath her nimble fingers.

“Elide,” Lorcan’s tone deepened. His eyes focused intently on the little smirk playing on Elide’s soft lips before she turned away and walked toward the others who were listening intently to what Evangeline was saying.

Late that night, long after the citizens of Ornyth slumbered, two mates were still awake. Their limbs tangling in bed sheets. The female sighed as the male kissed her cheeks and moved down and further down until her sigh became his name gasped into the night. And it wouldn’t be the last. Her mate fully intended to spend most of the night seeing to the needs of the woman who he loved to fiercely and tenderly.

When morning light illuminated the sky. Lorcan and Elide lingered in bed. Perfectly content to pass the hours in the arms of each other with faint smiles on their lips.

Slytherin DADA Secret Practices & The Great Battle

I have this headcannon where the Slytherins would teach themselves the DADA that Umbridge wasn’t teaching them.

• They would all teach the younger years properly.
• But the older years we’re aware of the war they were in so they’d go off in smaller groups of people they trusted or knew were on the same side.
• They made sure they would be safe, regardless off sides because they are Slytherins.
• They know that it wouldn’t matter what side they were on, unless they openly “converted” with the blessing of Dumbledore, they would be considered Death Eaters or Sympathisers.
• So when they were taken down to their common room and “locked” inside the older fifth, sixth and seventh years left the young ones in the care of the fourth years and left to take part in the battle,
• Using their secret passageways and adjoining rooms to the common room, they left and placed protective wards on the common room,
• People like Greyback and the Carrie twins were still around after all,
• They would figure out ways to identify their loved ones who were behind the masks
• Unless their family had done something heinous, they would avoid permanent damage.
• Some of the Slytherin students knew of the horrible ways their friends were treated at home and knew that it still wasn’t enough for their friends to stand up
• So they took care of the problem, or rather set it up so the “good guys” would take care of it

Quick N’ Dirty Protection Wards for Resisting the Power

All right, fellow Witches. I know things have been tumultuous, and it’s a very scary time to be in the United States. I’m back to being an uninsured American, and am watching my home state fight against a death sentence due to climate change. As a person of color, and a mixed race person, I feel like the need to ward up, protect yourself (no matter who you are), and resisting is of utmost importance. I wanted to share some magical methods of protection you can use.

1. Jar of Security: Create an adapted version of the traditional witch’s bottle. Place traditional ingredients for protection and warding in a bottle or jar - in this case, the nastier the components, the nastier the retribution on the one who crosses it. You’re gonna want nails, you’re gonna want spit (you’re gonna want to be safe about biohazardous ingredients), you’re gonna want irritating peppers and much gnashing of teeth. Finish the spell by putting the cork/lid back on, sealing it with wax (I recommend going with the retribution/fire theme and using red). Place it outside your front door, or near your room door, depending on where you live; hiding it might be a good idea. Bam, you’ve got one more shield up.

2. Ward your Room: Create a quick stone seal for your room by tying a rope or string around a stone for protection. Hematite would be a good choice, or bloodstone, or obsidian. Hold the stone and envision a stone barrier, with a stone gate, protecting your living space. Hang the stone behind your door, and use it to swing the ward open and shut when your door opens and shuts.

3. Sigil Up: Take a white candle and inscribe sigils on doorframes and window frames for reflective magic, protection, warding, and marking your territory using the white wax. It’ll be hard to read, but seals up the entrances and exists to define your space.

4. Purge: Write grievances onto small papers, and burn them in a heatproof container. Works great as a daily purifying ritual, and also has the added bonus of frying your grievance’s subject.

5. Armor Up: A classic but just as effective as ever. Craft a set of “armor” for yourself by visualizing a set of armor, or outfit, that makes you feel powerful. Now, actually moving your hands, put on the armor when you need it, before you leave the house, or when you need extra support. Crafted “psychic armor” can be taken on or off as you need.

6. Dissuade Idle Gossip: Or, “silence untrue rumors and words”, which is a lot less snappy - this is essentially prevention for slander and mud-raking. Place a single castor bean in a small bottle/jar, and seal. Keep sealed for use. Use a coffee bean instead for the economic witch, use a juniper berry for added protection.

7. Shield of Black Wax: Keeping a black candle burning is a super easy way to put up a shield of absorption while you’re working magic. As far as precautions go, you can just plug in and go.

You now have the tip of the iceberg of an arsenal of protective and reflective methods at your hands - now, work your magic from your vantage point! Get creative! Resist!!

Other non-witchy things you could do from said vantage point include calling your representatives and speaking out on issues, such as Trump’s cabinet appointments or the restart on both pipeline projects, or the silencing of the EPA, or releasing his tax returns… the list is endless! If phone calls aren’t your bag, write postcards to your representatives. Donate to Planned Parenthood! Volunteer your time! Run for local office! Make art, and donate the proceeds! Punch a Nazi in the face!!!

Home

Summary: Sam and Dean reassure each other after their visit home. Takes place directly after Home, 1 x 09.

Warning: Wincest, some smut, feels

Word Count: 1100ish

A/N: I just needed some codependent boys today. Enjoy! XOXO

Dean stays quiet as they drive away. They don’t talk about anything that Missouri said, or the fact that Mary had been there. They don’t talk about anything, really.

Sam watches Dean, his face in alternating light and shadow as he drives through the night under the streetlights, and wonders what memories he’s lost in. Sam’s lucky. He doesn’t remember that house or their mother. But Dean does. This trip had been hard for Sam, but it’s probably devastating to Dean, and of course he won’t talk about it. He’s just gonna sit there in the driver’s seat and glare at the road until he can pretend he’s fine again.

Bucky x Reader

Modern day Hockey AU

SUMMARY: You are the daughter of one of the greatest hockey players to ever play the game, now as owner of the Avengers, he is bringing your childhood crush Bucky Barnes to the team.  The minute he sees you in your father’s office, you can tell by the smirk on his face he hadn’t forgot about your crush either.  This is going to be fun.

CTTH Masterlist

The night after the bake sale, you tossed and turned, unable to sleep.  Peggy’s words filled your mind and you knew she was right.   You assumed Bucky had some sort of feelings for you.  At least he did in the past according to Steve.  Why would he make so much effort to get back in your good graces if he didn’t feel something for you.   Plus he kissed you yesterday, just on the cheek, but still.  It had to mean something right?

You were set to meet up with the guys after their morning skate to wish them luck.  You would be sitting in your father’s box to watch the game.  Most of the spouses only showed up for a game every once in awhile but you were there every game.  Partly because it was your job, and partly because you loved the game so much.

After a lot of thought, you decided Peggy was right and you were going to take a chance.  You look at the jersey you were wearing taking in the Avengers logo, you’d hoped this would be enough of a hint for Bucky as to your feelings.   Wearing Bucky’s jersey would make a statement, not only to him but everyone else.  You hadn’t been this nervous in a long time.

Sitting at your desk you pick at your fingernails, the boys would be here any minute.   A soft knock on the door tells you that you were right.  “Come in”

Your two favorite men came in wearing matching grins.  They both plop down on the plush couch you kept in your office. “Well sweetheart, tell me how awesome I am so I can win this game.”
