want to knit this

5

HEY IT’S A (really late) VALENTINE’S DAY SEQUEL TO THIS! You should really look at that to understand what’s going on, but as a quick backstory to this, Adrien found out the scarf he thought his dad gave him was from Marinette, it upset him too much so he gave it back to her.

And then I hated that it was just angst so I made this to make up for it? What started as a one page thing turned into a too-many-pages thing. Hence being like… 2 weeks later for V-day. Oh well! Enjoy!

Also, as for what Marinette actually got Adrien…

One of the new professors at my school started a knitting club and will teach anyone who wants to learn but right now I’m the only other person in this entire school who knows how to knit.

So now I have all these baby knitters wandering up to me in the hallways and between class and in the lab, wanting me to check their stitches and tension and wanting reassurance.

Which is adorable but maybe not when I am literally holding a human heart in my hand?

this is going to be worded very harshly, but i feel like the harshness is sort of justified here: there is absolutely no good reason for keeping a high-profile exotic animal as a pet. none. most people purchase mynahs, servals, possums, hornbills, crocodiles, etc because they use them as an extension of their own identity, to seem quirky or cool or to show their status. that’s cruel. not only is it cruel to the animal itself, but it does nothing but add money (directly or indirectly) to the ethically unsound business that is the exotic pet trade.

if you want a small mammal that is active, curious, and affectionate, then get a cat. they actually do well in captivity. if you don’t want a cat because “they’re too boring,” then you shouldn’t even own an animal. there you go.

You’re not less of a boy for liking to wear skirts
You’re not less of a boy for wanting to wear makeup
You’re not less of a boy for knitting or sewing
You’re not less of a boy for expressing “softer” emotions
You’re not less of a boy for wanting to feel pretty.

Boys come in all different types. It’s okay to be a soft boy, a pretty boy, a femininely dressed boy. You’re still a boy. The only thing that determines how much of a boy you are is how YOU define your boyhood. And no one, nothing in the world, can take that away from you.

the private you
  • applies to both Moon and IC. the private you, but also a deep part of you. it's possible that you can relate to it more than any other signs because it's a deep part of you, it's your foundation
  • Aries IC/Aries Moon: needs independence from loved ones, so isn't always present. this need isn't obvious though. quick to react. privately wilful and sexual. wants to explore all things and all desires and not hold back. inwardly feels separated from everyone. intense feelings dominate but this is not obvious, feelings often kept hidden. secretly wants to be alone, might feel bad for admitting it so just does things alone anyway. not afraid to act by itself.
  • Taurus IC/Taurus Moon: privately very stubborn and resistant, and privately needs comfort in all things. wants to have beautiful things and comfortable things, but in private, comfortable settings (i.e. they might pretend that comfort isn't a priority for them to not seem like babies, when really it is). privately lazy and loving. rarely change their lives once it is in a settled pattern. emotionally blunt.
  • Gemini IC/Gemini Moon: wants to have an intellectually stimulating open house system. inwardly feels bipolar and changeable. cleverness is kept private, as are all their thoughts. interested and observant of everyone but doesn't make this known. usually do not express emotion and tend to intellectualise just about everything.
  • Cancer IC/Cancer Moon: whatever they own will be held very closely. wants to belong to a close-knit circle so close that they consider themselves family. tends to protect and take care of. inwardly is an emotional mess and nostalgic but this is kept private. feel a lot, but rarely express a lot. sensitive to anything from their past. easy to express simple emotions like joy, but not easy to be vulnerable and show anything deep.
  • Leo IC/Leo Moon: wants to be the entertainer but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels special and creative. ego can dominate but is kept private (i.e., you'll deny that feelings or ego dominate) the full extent of your creative gifts may also be kept private, but you inwardly feel very creative. needs to feel regal and august.
  • Virgo IC/Virgo Moon: very helpful and competent, but privately. domestically refined, secretly critical. very perfectionistic and usually doesn't express emotion. wants to be of use to people but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels inadequate or that there is always more they should be doing.
  • Libra IC/Libra Moon: strong desire for companionship and tend to not enjoy being alone. ask people constantly for advice on what to do. wants to share and be relational, but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels sensitive and indecisive. needs to feel equal, i.e. the woman who must feel equal to a man, and vice versa. secretly diplomatic and a peace-keeper. struggles with comparing themselves to others.
  • Scorpio IC/Scorpio Moon: when emotions hit they are powerful and they feel chaotic. often emotionally dramatic. wants closeness and intensity but pushes people away at the same time. inwardly an emotionally troubled person, tends to hold onto intense hatred. struggles with emotions and whether to act on them or not. despite this, their intensity is only shown to their loved ones.
  • Sagittarius IC/Sagittarius Moon: feels like they are able or wants to travel and leave home in the blink of an eye. needs to feel free. emotionally irresponsible and will reject whatever does not give them freedom. wants to explore cultures and the world, but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels rootless and lost. constant searching.
  • Capricorn IC/Capricorn Moon: dislikes being shown affection unless they initiate it. needs to feel respected. emotionally responsible and capable. wants recognition but in private, comfortable settings. ambition is strong but can be kept private. inwardly feels serious and does not find it easy to spontaneously express joy or sadness. usually this does not bother them as they prefer to keep to themselves.
  • Aquarius IC/Aquarius Moon: often feels pressured to express emotion but just can't fake it. needs to feel free and respected for their knowledge and unique traits. wants friendship and kinship. platonic love dominates over romantic. inwardly feels rootless, empty and fiercely resistant. wants to be open and ridiculously funny and eccentric, but in private, comfortable settings.
  • Pisces IC/Pisces Moon: no emotional boundaries. wants connections that feel special and glamorous to fulfil their own need for something that is so otherworldly. often escapes reality. compassionate and sensitive, but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels like a lost soul, so clings to fleeting things that allow them to escape.
  • I've also found that planets in the 4th house, and Moon aspects to planets can apply here too. i.e., Neptune in the 4th house can relate to the Pisces IC/Moon. Jupiter in the 4th can relate to the Sagittarius IC/Moon, Mercury for Gemini and/or Virgo, etc. Moon-Pluto aspect can relate to Scorpio IC/Scorpio Moon. Moon-Uranus aspect can relate to Aquarius IC/Aquarius Moon.
  • Examine your IC, 4th house and Moon to explore who you are deep down.
  • The IC sign is the foundation of your entire chart.

my dudes

my buddies

my pals

Let’s be real for a second in terms of like where this show is headed with regards to my favorite character (surprise it’s Lance jk no one is surprised)

Recently this tweet happened:

And some people are taking this really well and other people… not so much. Which makes sense since all of us have been like #thirstin for something more for Lance and have been met with a lotta nothing, but I think this tweet is actually a good thing.

So in this recent interview with Kimberly, Josh, and Jeremy, Jeremy basically says what he’s been saying since day 1 that’s been echoed by a lot of the other cast members and crew.

Basically: Lance will step up to the plate and he’ll become more of a leader and take on more responsibility but at the end of the day…

Lance.

Is.

Lance.

And when people ask for more about Lance in terms of his character, you don’t really hear much beyond this, which is exTRemEly frustrating but just hear me out.

It might not be this deep but I think it’d be cool if there’s a reason for the Voltron team being so adamant in the fact that “Lance is Lance.” And he will always be no matter what. This can go one of two ways.

1. Lance is Lance because he will always only be comic relief. 6 seasons of comic relief. That’s him. He’s Lance. A flirt. Cocky. Goofy. Sure he might have some moments like we’ve seen in S1 and S2 but for the most part he’s there to be the team goofball to make everyone laugh (or groan with frustration and annoyance)

Which is shitty and terrible and I will be so angry if this is what goes down but for now let’s move onto the MUCH BETTER option 2.

2. Lance does become a leader (maybe a co-leader? Right hand man? stays the Blue Paladin and just kinda steps up more? whatever) but no matter how tough things get, no matter how worn down the team is, no matter how hopeless the situation seems, Lance can still be Lance. And I don’t just mean he’s able to crack a joke at a tense time to lighten the mood, though that also is a part of it. I mean that he is able to keep a level head and calmly think things through even in chaotic or near impossible situations

That he is always concerned about the well-being of other and is willing to lay down his life for his friends (AKA PEOPLE HE JUST MET)

That he’s also not afraid to call out these friends when he thinks they are making a mistake (there seems to be a running theme with this one…..)

That he’s also appreciative of his friends and pays attention to their needs/wants and their strengths

And that he will always go down swinging

But maybe most importantly, and this is what I hope the Voltron team is trying to get at, Lance will never lose his joy and excitement and happy go-lucky demeanor. This is what makes him the Blue Paladin (and also why I think he would make a great Black Paladin but anyways….). He’s the glue of the team and this means more than just being the comic relief and making ill-timed jokes.

I really love the Lance that is able to start a weird space spore fight or wants to knit sweaters for Arusians. I love the Lance that enjoys doing a crazy dance while explaining their extremely dangerous plan to defeat Zarkon. I love the Lance that has fun coming up with wild ideas about what else could be locked up in Beta Traz. It’s not that he’s not taking his job as a Paladin seriously but rather that he is trying to take this crazy situation in stride as much as possible. We know that he can be worried, insecure, and lonely, but this never stops him from being who he is. He stumbles, loses confidence, regains it, and stands back up again ready to start swinging at the next asshole who decides to come for him and his friends.

Lance is adaptable just like water. He might come in different forms (serious, competitive, caring, homesick, flirtatious, etc) but at the end of the day it’s all of it is a part of who he is. He might need to get better at figuring out the appropriate timing of being leader Lance or flirty Lance, but it’s not like he has to lose the more immature part of him to become a more well-developed character.

So when people say “Lance will always be Lance,” I’m actually pretty fucking thankful. I’ve read some Langst where Lance becomes more “Keith-like” to cope with his insecurities which……. I’m conflicted about. I don’t think he needs to go as far as NOT be him in order for the team to learn to appreciate him more. So I think this affirmation from the staff that Lance will always be himself no matter what makes me believe that he will be what keeps the team together through the difficult and tumultuous times to come. That even despite his clear self-doubt he will be able to put the team and others first and maintain his role as the glue. That he will still manage to grow and change as a Paladin AND maintain the things that make him Lance.

There will be growing pains, of course, (I’m guessing a lot to do with Keith) but just because he’s insecure doesn’t make him weak. Lance doesn’t have to become more serious or stoic in order to be taken more seriously or be more “mature.” Then he wouldn’t be the Lance we know and love. He can withstand the challenges to come and develop as a character without sacrificing these integral parts of himself. He is capable of SO MUCH and I can’t wait for him to unlock the potential that was always there within him and makes him who he is.

Hello

At last, the first in a series of interconnecting one shots about my Victuri Merman AU!

I had so much fun drawing these, I hope you guys like them! These two drawings are based on the last scene in this one shot :D

This first one shot is bit short and possibly a bit slow but you need to know how they met first :) Then it’s just going to be fluff for days~

I haven’t written fanfiction in about 6 years. Please have mercy X’D

This is the only place this fic is posted at the moment since I don’t have an AO3 account. Anyone wanna help a fan out and send me an invite so I don’t have to go on a waiting list? X’D

Relatively short introductory one shot under the cut.

friend: you okay?

me: chess is an extended metaphor for conventional & scholarly masculinity that is revisited several times in both acts 1 & 2 of Falsettos (2016).  Marvin’s intellect is what secures him in his manhood (”i’m not so rich, but hell i’m smart”) and thus establishes him as the patriarch in his relationships, an inherently misogynistic and homophobic position.  Marvin expects several roles to be fulfilled by Whizzer - complimentary to Marvin, but contrasting to one another - the domestic housewife to maintain convention, and the epitome of masculinity that Marvin is undeniably attracted to as a gay man, and thus left his wife for.  Whizzer does not want to perform either of these – he does not want to be intellectually engaged, nor is he willing or able to complete the chores Marvin expects of him because he loves fashion, sex, money, and wants to have fun in a way that is fundamentally immature and self-serving.  this flippancy, as well as his lavicious sex life outside of their relationship, is a point of tension between them, as well as Marvin’s continued attempts at constraining his boyfriend into being things he is not.  the chess game towards the end of act one acts as a counterpart to “this had better come to a stop” wherein Whizzer’s ‘wifely’ duties were addressed (“check their hairlines, make the dinner and love me!”), and in this reprise of sorts (“clip the coupons, make the dinner and love it!”) Whizzer’s lack of conventional masculine traits is fixated upon - he is expected to play chess, but not beat Marvin lest he loses the submissiveness that Marvin wants him to perform. when Whizzer makes a ‘good first move’ on his own, Marvin hesitates because there is the chance of Whizzer beating him at his own game, one he thought was an easy win.  once Whizzer says ‘let me win’ and Marvin agrees, it is assumed that Marvin would just ‘go easy’ on him, letting Whizzer play (maintaining scholarly masculinity) and still losing to Marvin (maintaining conventional standards of heteronormativity and misogyny). however, Whizzer immediately acts like he is playing checkers and runs over the board while Marvin attempts to maintain some sense of order, highlighting their juxtaposed personalities. Whizzer wants to be thrilled, to be admired, to have fun where Marvin is weary and wants security, stability, a tight-knit family.  in act two, Jason leaves the king on Whizzer’s grave, indicating that despite not being a conventional man (being flirty, lustful, and indulgent in fashion where he “should” be sexually aggressive and uncaring about his appearance) he demonstrates the real values of masculinity, the ability to grow, the capacity to love, and courage in the face of adversity.

friend: I’ll raise you to racquetball being a major influence on the relationship between Marvin and Whizzer in act two because it is something that Whizzer excels at where Marvin does not.  it is an indication of character development that Marvin can handle defeat easily and, presumably, return to play with Whizzer despite knowing that he won’t win (‘winning is everything to me’).  this is what makes ‘more racquetball’ so heart-wrenching – the one thing Whizzer can do, the shoulders on which his masculinity is seated upon, his athleticism, has been ripped from him, leaving him weak and vulnerable like an exposed nerve.  Marvin rushes to his side, and where act one Marvin may have mocked him or told him to get up, act two Marvin acknowledges his pain and stoops down instead of pulling him up, showing a fundamental understanding of human relationships and demonstrating Marvin’s capacity to love and care for another even when they are not the pinnacle of both masculine charm and banausic femininity.  Marvin’s love for Whizzer comes too late - they appreciate the best of one another and overcome their differences just in time for Whizzer to contract HIV+ and die of an AIDS-related illness.

Smart!Lance Headcannons (Part 3)

Lance can knit

His mom use to teach him and his siblings to knit. Her lessons were fun and noisy. It was a miracle that no one accidentally poked their eyes out. As they got older, Lance ended up being the only one sticking with it and practicing regularly. His siblings would proudly bring it up with every chance they had. Gushing about their new sweaters or plush toys, they would tease him until he went bright red.

Little does he know, the lessons have stopped after his disappearance. Without him his mom had no one to knit with. His mom`s face would twist into a fond yet sad smile whenever she sees kneedles.

One day Lance finds kneedles in the castle. He starts using it immediately. He uses it in Blue or in the comforts in his own room. No one knew. He wasn’t ashamed of being able to knit, he just doesn’t want to tell anyone. Knitting felt like something private he wanted to keep to himself.

- His first project was more of a warmup; tiny colourful sweaters for the mice. They loved it and swore not to tell Allura where they got it from. (Despite her curious pleas)

- Lance crocheted a mini blue lion and gave to Blue and she was so happy. She purred loud and proudly as the others looked on with a twinge of jealousy “LOOK LOOK AT WHAT MY SON MADE ME,” He laughed at this and happily continued to make more mini lions for the rest. She grumbled in slight disappointment but if it makes her siblings happy she is all for it.

- The team is just like what the heck what is this toy doing in my lion??? Where did this come from?????

- Imagine everyone in the team getting hand knitted onesies as a surprise gift from him.

- Keith and Pidge come up w multiple conspiracy theories to where these random presents are coming from??? Was it Hunk??? Was it Coran??? Was it the government ??? They even created a club called ‘Sweater Weather theories,’. It was mandatory to join or else Keith will side eye you and start talking milk shots. He will only stop if u join. (He is lactose intolerant)

- It was hilarious, Lance would never tell them.

- but they do find out eventually and soon enough he starts his own knitting lesson but with the team. His best students to worse students were Hunk, Allura, Shiro, Coran, Pidge and then… Keith. Keith sucked. But he was the most dedicated and enthusiastic about knitting so Lance respects that.

-It was great he never had that much fun in a long time.

- AlsO, imagine happy cosy Lance in a mermaid tail blanket.

((Does this count as a smart!Lance headcannon?

Yeah so I interpreted that episode w the Arusians where Lance said “We can knit them tiny sweaters” as proof he can knit

Send me some more Smart! Lance headcannons in my ask guys pls))

Just say yes 🥂

“Fancy meeting you here.” Harry watched amusedly as Malfoy whirled around in surprise and almost dropped his champagne flute.

“Potter.” He sounded breathless, caught off guard. “I thought you were in Egypt on some mission.”

Harry cocked his head to one side and gave Malfoy a quizzical glance.

“I see you’ve been keeping tabs on me.”

“That’s not-” Malfoy’s cheeks turned rosy as he quickly looked away. “Your name is always all over the paper.”

“This was a secret mission,” Harry replied, trying not to snicker.

“Yeah, well… It’s- it’s hard to escape you. People talk about you everywhere. Everywhere!”

“Sure,” Harry said, taking a sip of champagne.

“Auror Potter! Auror Potter!” A small, middle-aged man behind Malfoy began waving frantically at Harry, almost jumping up and down in his excitement.

“Oh no,” Harry muttered. Malfoy took a look over his shoulder and rolled his eyes.

“Auror Potter! We didn’t expect you to be back so soon,” the middle-aged man said, clasping one of Harry’s hands and shaking it vigorously.

“Mister Franklin,” Harry said, barely able to hide his annoyance.

“You were on a mission I presume? Was it undercover? Did it go well?”

Harry sighed and briefly closed his eyes.

“Mister Franklin, a gala is hardly the place for an interview, is it?”

Mister Franklin chuckled and clasped Harry’s hand even tighter.

“You know how it is with us reporters, we never rest.”

“Oh yes, I know,” Harry said. “However, I am currently unavailable for a statement.”

“But Auror Potter-”

“If you will excuse me, Mister Franklin,” Harry interrupted him, freeing his hand from the other man’s grip and placing it on Malfoy’s back. “I have important business to attend to.”

He ignored the incredulous looks Mister Franklin and Malfoy were giving him and pushed through the crowd. Harry noticed how Malfoy’s body twitched under his touch. It made Harry’s stomach flip. He hadn’t planned to be so bold but escaping a reporter from the Daily Prophet always took priority.

He hoped Mister Franklin wasn’t following them. But even if he left them alone, almost every other person in the room was sure to assault Harry sooner or later. But he couldn’t leave yet. He had promised Kingsley he’d stay at least two hours. And now, after bumping into Malfoy, he had another reason to stay.

When Harry spotted the double doors leading to one of the balconies, he let out a sigh of relief. That could work. He gently pushed Malfoy outside, who was completely flustered at this point.

“What do you think you’re doing?” he snapped, slapping Harry’s hand away and smoothing down his robes.

“What? I really didn’t want to talk to that reporter,” Harry said shrugging.

“But why did you drag me along with you?” Malfoy studied him suspiciously and Harry noticed how he was clutching his champagne flute.

“I wanted to keep talking to you,” Harry said, surprised Malfoy had to ask.

“And what gave you the impression I wanted to keep talking to you?”

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Harry said, knitting his eyebrows together. “Feel free to go. It wasn’t my intention to bring you out here against your will.”

Malfoy narrowed his eyes. After a moment, he turned and walked to the edge of the balcony, resting his elbows against the railing.

It took Harry a moment to realise Malfoy wasn’t leaving after all. He was waiting for Harry to join him. Harry made sure the goofy smile had somewhat vanished before he stepped up beside Malfoy, mimicking his pose, and looked out to the garden below.

“It’s a little bit like Romeo and Juliet, isn’t it?” Harry said, relishing the sudden quietness around them.

Malfoy let out a snort and Harry was pretty sure he was rolling his eyes.

“For that you’d have to be standing down there, you knobhead.”

Harry blinked.

“I didn’t mean… I just meant the setting reminds me of-” He raised an eyebrow. “Are you saying you’d want me to be standing down there, serenading you?”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Malfoy muttered. But Harry had the impression his cheeks were getting pinker by the second. “Besides, Romeo didn’t serenade Juliet.”

“He didn’t? Huh. I thought he did,” Harry said frowning. “Well that’s good I guess. I’m rubbish at singing.”

There was a long silence after that and Harry wondered what Malfoy was thinking about. He heard him take a deep breath before he finally spoke again.

“I guess we are a bit like Romeo and Juliet.”

Harry looked at him in astonishment.

“What do you mean?”

“Well, our families weren’t exactly enemies but I have often wondered what would have happened if my father hadn’t- if it weren’t for my father…maybe it wouldn’t have been impossible. Or forbidden.”

“Forbidden,” Harry repeated dumbstruck. “You mean to say…”

“I’m not saying anything,” Malfoy said quickly, clamping his mouth shut.

“I think you just did,” Harry insisted, giving the other man a toothy grin. “I have to admit, when I saw you tonight I didn’t think it would lead up to this.”

Malfoy didn’t reply and just stared at the fountain in the middle of the garden below them.

“It’s not too late, you know,” Harry said quietly. “We could still… well, how about we start with dinner?”

“Dinner?” Malfoy sounded skeptical. When he gulped down the rest of his champagne, Harry couldn’t contain a snicker.

“Dinner.” He turned to Malfoy and bit his lip. “All you have to do is say yes.”

When Malfoy didn’t say anything, Harry tentatively moved his hand down the railing and placed it on the other man’s.

“Just say yes.”

Harry watched as the corner’s of Malfoy’s mouth twitched and his body gave a little shiver.

“It’s that easy?”

“Yes,” Harry said. Malfoy cleared his throat and kept his eyes on the garden while his lips stretched into a smile.

“Is that a yes?” Harry asked. Malfoy turned his head to look at him, his eyes shining brightly.

“Yes, you twit! It’s a yes.”
