Day 6: Started the day with a short hike to Tasman Glacier. Pretty stark reminder of the danger posed by global warming as the glacier terminal face now sits several hundred meters short of its usual position. On to Waneka where you can swim in glacial run off with snow in the background. It was about 35 degrees!! Ended the long day’s drive on the west coast. Forests, trees, ferns, beaches and sand flies. It’s almost a completely different country and its less than 100ks away as the crow flies.
