Everything Happens at Night - Part 5
Warning ⚠️: more creep shit!
A/N: I hope y'all are still sticking around. Im sorry this took so long lol. If this gets enough reblogs, I’ll post part 6. Enjoy! ❤️
It was around 2am, everyone went to bed a long time ago except Bruce, Tony and I; we were too shaken up to sleep. I sat with them in the lab and watched them work, helping out where I could. Tony left to go make us those weird smoothies he always make that oddly taste good, leaving me and Bruce alone.
“How are you holding up, Y/N?” He asked.
I let out a long sigh that did nothing to ease the tension in my body, “I’m exhausted but I’m too scared to be alone,” I told him. I held my head up on my hand and closed my eyes for a second.
“Yeah, me too,” he muttered. He gave my shoulder a quick squeeze then went back to tinkering with some new device. “What do you think this thing wants? I mean, why you?”
“I wish I knew. This is so weird because this type of thing doesn’t happen to people like me.”
“People like you?”
“Black people,” I said with a playful roll of my eyes.
He laughed loudly at that. It made me feel good that I could take his mind off the situation even if it’s just for a moment. He was about to say something but then the lights turned off. We were both silent, unsure of what was going on.
“Friday, what happened to the lights,” I asked the AI.
“Not sure, working on it,” she replied.
Just then I could feel someone standing behind me and they were breathing on my neck. Every hair on my body stood up and I started to tremble.
“Bruce, please tell me that’s you standing behind me,” I whimpered.
“It’s not me.”
I closed my eyes as the shivers on my spine intensified. It was getting closer and it felt like it was reaching out to touch me. Goosebumps appeared on my skin and I was about to scream but then Bruce grabbed me and pulled me in close. Tony walked in a second later with the smoothies.
“What happened to the lights?”
I opened my eyes and looked in his direction and gasped loudly, “Tony…”
“Y/N, what’s wrong?” He sat the tray on a nearby table and shifted his eyes between me and Bruce.
“Tony, there’s someone standing behind you,” I whispered. It was dark but I could still make out a figure standing behind him, it looked like a woman and she had a wicked smile on her face. Tony’s eyes got huge and I could tell that he was too afraid to move.
“Y/N, there’s nobody there,” Bruce said, squinting his eyes.
“What do you mean? She’s standing right behind him.” My voice was shaky and my forehead was glistening with a layer of cold sweat. I wasn’t frightened nor was I afraid. What I felt was far beyond that.
“Y/N, no one is-” Bruce was interrupted by the door slamming shut. It slammed so hard that the glass shattered and fell to the floor. Tony cursed and nearly jumped out of his skin and I screamed so loud I’m sure I woke up the entire compound. The lights in the lab began flickering fast and there was loud screeching. We all had to cover our ears or our eardrums might’ve burst. I felt a sharp pain on my back, I fell to the floor and cried out in pain. It felt like my back was on fire, I’ve never experienced pain like this before. I just laid on the ground, writhing in pain as the screeching continued.
I could hear Tony and Bruce calling out to me but that was only background noise. I could also hear high pitched screaming mixed in with the screeching of the entity, it only took me a moment to realize that it was my own. Then all of a sudden, everything went dead silent and the pain stopped. Tony cradled my head in his lap and lightly patted my cheek.
“Doll, are you alright? Y/N, answer me,” he begged. I opened my eyes and burst into tears. I covered my face as I sobbed loudly and uncontrollably. Tony gently rubbed his thumb on the underside of my chin and Bruce rubbed my knee.
“Th-there’s t-t-two of them! I f-felt one behind me and the o-other was by the door,” I stuttered. My throat was dry and scratchy and my voice was hoarse. I took one of their hands into my own, “Please don’t leave me alone,” I said as tears continued started to fall.
Tony kissed my knuckles and looked down at me, “We got your back.”
Later that day
After staying up for the rest of the night with the guys, we were now sitting in the living room with the rest of the team telling them what happened and waiting for this demonologist guy to show up.
“Holy shit, I can’t believe the rest of us didn’t hear anything,” Sam said.
“How are you feeling, Y/N,” Steve asked softly.
I was laying on one of the couches with my feet in Wanda’s lap and cool cloth on my head because I was feeling feverish. We found out from last nights footage that the pain I felt was caused by being scratched. Before anyone could say anything more, Friday announced that the demonologist had arrived. Steve and Tony went to go greet the man while the rest of us sat in silence. The man introduced himself as Mr. Kyle, he was an older black man with kind eyes. Tony showed him the footage of last night and we told him about the other incidents and when it started.
He came over to me and took my hand, “May I see your back,” he asked politely. I nodded and rolled over and lifted my shirt.
There were three huge scratches on my back and they were kinda deep. Mr. Kyle gently touched one, making me hiss in pain. He quickly apologized and retracted his hand. He sighed deeply and fixed his glasses on his nose.
“So what’s the deal,” Tony asked.
“I sensed two very strong presences when I first walked in. I also noticed a dark aura around Ms. Y/L/N.”
“Is this happening because of the ouija board,” Wanda asked, her voice held a slight tremble. She was blaming herself.
“Partially. I’m going to assume that you didn’t say goodbye to the ouija board after you finished playing with it. However, the other presence has been following Ms. Y/L/N for a very long time,” the doctor said. My heart fell to my ass.
“What do you mean? What is it? Why is it bothering me now?” The questions started pouring out.
“It’s a parasite. A demon that is feeding off of your fear; all of you.” He paused and looked around the room, “It has been following you since you were born and it’s making itself known because you’re almost at the right age.”
I closed my eyes and rubbed my temples, trying to keep calm but it wasn’t working. “The right age for what?”
He hesitated before answering, “For it to collect you.”
There was a collective gasp around the room and everyone turned to me, waiting to see what I would do. My mouth had gone dry and my whole body was tense.
“So what do we do? How do we help her,” Bruce spoke.
“We have to perform a cleansing. Since this thing has already made physical contact with her, it’s stronger than you thought and it’s closer to getting what it wants.”
Dude… fuck my life.
