What we expect: Intense burning for Christ. Prayer without ceasing. Effectively spreads God’s love to everyone you meet. Exuding God’s love 24/7.
What really happens: 30% of what we expect and 70% of feeling distant from God, prayer only when you need something, forgetting that you have a full time duty as a disciple.
How to be a perfect Christian: By continuing to pursue God. By recognizing that these highs and lows are inevitable on this sinful Earth. Your time on Earth is a test and the way to pass is to cling to Him to the best of your ability, which means returning to Him every time you grow distant. God knows that you are a post-Eden human; there is no such thing as perfection just yet!
“Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boasful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.”- 1 Corinthians 13
Hey, y’all. I was hoping to get a little help with something. I know I’ve talked about my boyfriend on here before, and about how he wants to understand gender, specifically non-binary gender, better. He was raised in a very conservative household where anything straying from the male-female was regarded as “socialist propaganda” and strongly dismissed, and it wasn’t until just a few years ago that the concept of gender theory was even available to him. Now, he’s very respectful of gender identity and he would never intentionally misgender someone because he’s not a dick, but he feels that he would benefit from understanding the issues surrounding gender in addition to accepting them.
He and I have had countless discussions on the subject. We tend to agree on most things and we generally reach the same conclusions, but our processes for arriving at those conclusions are different. He’s very intelligent, but we think differently. I’m a very abstract and theoretical thinker, but he is more concrete. It makes for some awesome discussions (y’all should come over for dinner sometime), but it also means that the sources I read to learn about and understand gender theory, those that use very theoretical and abstract language and points, are not helpful to him.
So, this is where you lot come in. You curious, brilliant people. I am looking for good articles or journals or even books on gender theory that are helpful to a concrete mind. Or, if any of my non-binary followers are willing, someone to sit down and patiently have a conversation with the man. Send me sources!
No one is too broken that God cannot restore. No one is too lost or too far gone for God not to find. Sometimes we are too focused on ourselves; our failures, our awful past, our mistakes, our sins and we started to think that we have no hope and that God doesn’t want us anymore. We are too ashamed to even call on to God in prayer. We think we are unworthy and that we are not deserving of God’s love and mercy. That’s why God saved us through His amazing Grace (something we do not deserve but given to us) because God loves us so much, He gave His One and Only Son Jesus to pay for our sins.
God can make a new creation in you. Don’t believe the lies of the enemy that you cannot be changed because God can change you! In fact, He’s the only one who can make a new creation in you! Someone you never thought you can be. You may not see it now, but you just have to fix your eyes on Him. He’s not finished on you yet. You are His work in progress. He will make all things new and He will make a miracle of you!
We are His children, His beloved, in Him we are a NEW CREATION.
Revelation 21:5 (ESV)
And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also, he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Relaxation yesterday. It was nice and sunny, if not a bit windy as well. Guessing you can’t tell what color I went with huh? Then there was my first attempt to climb Death Mountain in Zelda… it was a little hot.
That’s about the gist of yesterday and today. I took a couple walks, met my friend for Bible Study, which went well like normal, then relaxed. There hasn’t been much to post about.
Plenty of Zelda yesterday - finished the 4th temple and now I’m apparently ready to head off and face Ganon. WIsh me luck, I guess. In my journey I’ve found around 75 shrines and nearing 100 seed things, so unless I find the remaining shrines, I guess I’m as good as I’m going to get.
I do hope you’ve all had a nice last couple days as always, and may the rest of the work pass by quickly for you!
On June 17, 2013, Dylann Roof walked into a midweek Bible study, he sat and prayed with the church members before pulling out his gun killing most and allowing one to live, after the incident he was found and arrested, peacefully.
When Dylann Roof killed nine innocent Black People, we did not questioned his God, he wore flags of apartheid Africa, we did not questioned his allegiance, he committed the crime alone, we did not questioned his people.
When Adam Lanza shot a classroom full of first graders at Sandy Hook Elementary, we did not ask him to leave the country.
When Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people in Oklahoma, we did not called this a crime against every American. When the KKK killed thousands of Black People while swank to hold Christian morality, we did not asked them to remove their robed, we do not call all Christians bigots.
Do you see it ? How we don’t label all white men based on the sins of the few?
Do you see it? How we don’t have to condemn a whole class of people based on the actions of the some.
Do you see it? How all the names are different , all the faces are different, how all the people are different, therefore we should not condemn all the Muslims for the radicalism of the group.
If you want to persecute ISIS go ahead, but to persecute ISIS is to persecute those who gave them power, to persecute those who gave them power is to prosecute the US Government.
Do your research, Islam is not synonymous with terror, it’s literally submission, it is devotion, it is peace - and terrorism actually is forbidden and Jihad does not mean Holy war, it means struggle, it means survival, it means standing face-to-face with everything that wants to put you on the ground and choosing to be alive.
Do your research, stop listening to CNN, stop sharing humanity for hypocrisy, stop staring at Muslims at the airport, stop letting your fear drive your ignorance, stop supporting billionaire Republicans who wants to scare you to murder innocents and stop supporting leaders who speak peace in native tongue.
Its not the burning down the mosque, burn down the walls around the post muscles in your chest, and realize that we all have one and lastly as a customary greeting goes.
As’salaamualaikum – Peace be upon you
Waliakum As’salaam ‘ – and upon you be peace
Do you see it?
