waits for her to explain

Okay so here’s one of those rare gems of moments where retail is actually kind of okay.

I’m gonna start by revealing the well-kept secret that I live in Ohio… in case all the buckeye references flew by you. And Ohio… is obsessed with space travel. I mean- it makes sense. We’ve got a couple astronauts in our history, there’s the National Aeronautics and Space Museum in Dayton, and on those quiet summer nights, where the sky is clear and the stars are twinkling in the distance, it is hard to not look up at the darkness and wonder if there is intelligent life out there. (Not here.)

Anyhow, all the fourth graders have a big space-related project around this time of year and this means that we, as craft retailers, have to be problem solvers. The number one problem is ‘oh gods, please tell me that you’re going to put a primer down on that styrofoam before you spray paint it.’

Because- you guessed it- everyone is making a damn solar system model.

That is to say… their parents are making the solar system model.

I was just finishing up explaining the use of a styrofoam primer and which spray paints are safe to use with styro to the mother of one ten-year-old when the mother of another ten-year-old rounds the corner looking desperate.

“Is this a good paint for cardboard?”

It’s not. So I round her back to where her son and daughter are waiting and explain them what will work. She needs green, and there are three different kinds of greens. The mom holds them up and has her daughter choose.

“Which one do you want for your face?”

I freeze because putting acrylic on your skin is a great way to get a rash. “Hold on, you’re not putting this on your skin, are you?”

“No, gosh no. We’re painting a box and putting the box on her head.”

Okay, I’m curious. “Can you explain what you’re making?”

The daughter chimes in. “We have to do a project for school and I’m gonna dress up like a alien!”

Instantly, I love this child. Not just because she considers dressing up as an alien to be an acceptable school project, but because she’s not leaving it to her mom to do all the work.

So we talk for a minute about project stuff and she tells me that her brother is going to be the first man on Mars. Her brother is five. Her brother concurs- he is going to be the first man on Mars. Their mom tells me about the Neil Armstrong museum nearby. Like… this is a family of people excited about the future of space travel.

“Did you hear about those new planets,” I asked.

The little girl starts jumping up and down. “Yes! Yes! Yes!”

Mom: “Can you remember what they said about the new planets?”

“They said…. they said that they can… uhhh… sustain life! There might be aliens!”

Mom: “Now, they said they can sustain life, but I think they also said that it isn’t very advanced life.”

The little girl looks off into space- contemplating this new information. She is formulating a very important thought.

Very softly: “We get to be the aliens this time.”

PROPOSALS

▹ pairing: Jeongguk x reader
▹ words: 18,102 I’m so sorry
▹ genre: smut, fluff, light angst, friends to lovers

You and Jeongguk propose at restaurants to get free food, but somewhere along the way you start to fall for him.

You never thought Jeongguk would actually take you up on the whole fake proposals thing. When you had suggested the idea to him, he’d just laughed and said “yeah”, then continued playing Fallout 4. You hadn’t actually meant it; the idea was one of those you vaguely imagine it happening, but not really, which is why when he brought it up weeks later suggesting you try it out, you thought he was kidding.

He wasn’t, and this is how you end up in one of the city’s nicer restaurants on a fake date with your best friend.

Dating Peter Parker Would Include.....

Homecoming spoilers. Pin for later when you’ve watched the film. :) I repeat, spoilers. SPOILERS.

  • Being his best friend, aside from Ned, of course.
  • Living just across the hall. It was actually how you two met back in the day when he used to visit Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
  • Struggling and mourning the loss of Uncle Ben, because let’s face it, you adored those two with all your heart. (They used to babysit you whenever your parents needed a last minute babysitter)
  • Rubbing the fact that Aunt May loves you more (even though she loves you two the same) in Peter’s face.
  • Enduring all of Aunt May’s larb jokes whenever you join them for Thai.
  • “I larb you, Peter. And I larb you too, [Y/N]
  • “Okay, Aunt May…..enough.”
  • “What? You don’t larb me? Am I too lame to be larbed? Too cool to larb your awesome aunt? Not enough larb to go around to your good ole aunt? Saved all your larb for you one true larb, [Y/N]? Huh? Hm?”
  • “Uh….we larb you too?”
  • “Thank you, [Y/N]. At least someone larbs me.”
  • Being completely supportive of Peter getting an internship with Tony Stark.
  • Offering to help him with his internship.
  • Getting slightly offended that he doesn’t want help.
  • “Am I not smart enough to help you?”
  • “What? God, no. It’s not that…..it’s um….I just have to do this on my own, that’s all. You know, no help. Strictly myself….”
  • Competing against him with academic scores.
  • Being extremely competitive with each other when it came to exams.
  • Going back and forth on having the highest grade.
  • Talking about going to the most prestige college and then changing your minds because you two could never leave Aunt May.
  • Putting up with Ned being needy.
  • “Ned….this is a date….between two people.”
  • “Oh cool, I love pizza. I’ll just sit down right here and take a slice.”
  • “Ned….”
  • “Yeah, so anyway, you two should come over and help me build my lego deathstar. It’s legit.”
  • Bickering with Ned, constantly. (But, loving him just as much as Peter)
  • Getting along great with Michelle.
  • Roasting Peter and Ned into oblivion with her.
  • Like full on roasts. It’s fantastic how long you and Michelle can go.
  • I mean, it’s almost not fair how hard you go.
  • But, in the end, Peter loves you and is sort of relieved that you get along with the people in his life.
  • Movie marathons.
  • Cuddles for days.
  • Like the kind of cuddles that make you all warm and fuzzy inside.
  • You know, the ones where you just sigh happily in his arms and think that Disney World ain’t got shit on being the happiest place on earth.
  • Netflixin’ and chillin’, (if you know what I mean, wink-wink) Forgive me, I forget that’s he’s fifteen. No sir, keep that in your pants now, you little rascal. And you? Don’t be puttin’ out, miss.
  • Geeking out over Star-Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc.
  • Going to Comic-Cons and dressing up.
  • Building and experimenting to the point where Aunt May and your parents scold you two for almost blowing up the complex.
  • Although, it’s not like you actually could blow up a building to that magnitude.
  • And after the fire department threatened to arrest you two, you put an end to experimenting.
  • Peter making you a playlist on your ipod.
  • Listening to it all the time because you just love the songs he chose.
  • No seriously, this playlist makes your heart stop with every song.
  • Peter always getting you your favorite muffin for breakfast before school.
  • He’ll even leave it at your front door in a cute little handwritten paper bag if he’s sick for the day.
  • Always being told he loves you.
  • Because, you’re the best thing that ever happened to him.
  • You being embarrassed when he tells random strangers that he loves you.
  • Like, you’ll be walking down the street and he’ll look at the old lady walking her yorkie, “Excuse me, m’am. But, I just want you to know how much I love this girl right here.”
  • Peter.”
  • Then flagging down a taxi to tell the driver too. “Hey, yeah no, I don’t need a ride. Just wanna tell you that I love my girlfriend.”
  • Peter even telling Happy who always responds with, “Can’t wait for the day she leaves you.”
  • Him keeping his double-agent life a secret.
  • Because he doesn’t want you to get hurt.
  • Constantly wondering why Peter’s free time is slowly diminishing. Because you can’t quite believe the internship was that demanding.
  • Worrying that Peter was going to break up with you.
  • Peter finding out about your worries through Michelle. (Who threatened to skin him alive should he ever hurt you.)
  • Taking a night off from his “internship” to take you out.
  • “Peter….we’ve been on the train forever.”
  • “Have a little bit of patience, [Y/N].”
  • “Where are we going? Does Aunt May know you’re out right now? How much longer? Is this going to be forever? Are we running away from our problems? Running from being millennials and trying to fit in with society? I didn’t pack anything. How are we going to survive the outside world?”
  • Peter intentionally ignoring your million questions by putting his headphone in one ear and other in yours.
  • Playing your favorite song to keep you quiet.
  • Realizing he’s taking you to Central Park.
  • Almost on the verge of tears when you find out that he organized a candlelit picnic under the stars.
  • Seeing Ned in the distance as he walks away and knowing that he had a hand in it.
  • Smiling and feeling secure that Peter is here to stay.
  • Getting a weird feeling that he’s still hiding something.
  • Unsure of how to go about asking him what he’s hiding because you don’t want to cross a line.
  • Michelle not caring and confronting him before coming back to you and confirming that he is hiding something because of the way he acted.
  • Feeling uneasy but forcing yourself to believe that Peter would tell you everything and anything because you two were on the same level and understanding about your relationship.
  • Using the Washington D.C. trip to curve your mind from it.
  • It failing when Peter decides to re-join the decathlon team.
  • Forcing yourself to ignore the gut feeling that Peter is hiding something when you asked him why he decided to re-join.
  • Peter being completely oblivious to your uneasiness.
  • Pushing it to the back of your brain when Liz scolds you for not having your head in the game.
  • But it coming back when Peter doesn’t show up for the decathlon.
  • Corning Ned and demanding where Peter is and why he isn’t answer his phone.
  • Getting irritated when Ned stumbles over his words.
  • Becoming so upset that you tell Ned to tell Peter that he better have an explanation or else they would be over.
  • Visiting the monument with everyone with the exception of Peter (obviously) and Michelle who passed on the tour.
  • Ignoring Ned when he tries to talk to you.
  • Liz concerned that you were upset and asks if you want to talk about it.
  • About to confide in her when the elevator of the Monument starts to malfunction.
  • Peter freaking the hell out when Michelle screams, “My friends are up there!”
  • Panicking and pleading Karen to help him find a way to save you and everyone else.
  • Trying to stay calm even though your heart is about to flip out of your chest.
  •  Getting mad all over again because you were going to die pissed off at your boyfriend.
  • Spider Man saving you just in the nick of time.
  • Being so traumatized over the ordeal and Peter not being there, you lash out on him when he finally decides to make an appearance.
  • Michelle shaking her head, “You messed up, dude.”
  • “[Y/N], wait! Please, I can explain.”
  • “Explain? Explain?! I’m going to need a whole encyclopedia of an explanation, Peter. Can you give me that?
  • Ned trying to diffuse the situation.
  • Getting even more pissed off and breaking up with Peter.
  • Michelle whistling (because she didn’t see it coming), “Man, that’s rough. You gonna be okay? Actually? I don’t care. Bye.” Running after you to make sure you were going to be okay.
  • Ignoring all of Peter’s texts and phone calls.
  • Having your parents stop Peter from coming into the apartment even though they felt you were being silly. (They adored Peter)
  • Sitting in your room with a pint of your favorite ice cream while watching stupid rom-com films.
  • Crying when the guy gets the girl.
  • But telling yourself, you’re better than that and that you don’t need Peter.
  • Crying again because you need Peter.
  • Hearing a knock on your bedroom door and getting mad because you just know your parents let him in.
  • Yanking open the door to find a worried Aunt May.
  • “May? What’s wrong?”
  • Her coming into your room, “I know you and Peter are fighting right now but have you heard from him?”
  • “No, I haven’t. I actually haven’t received any texts or calls from him today….”
  • “Where is he? He’s been gone all day. I’m freaking out, [Y/N]. I’ve called every precinct and coroners office.”
  • Being speechless because it is very unlike Peter to not check with Aunt May.
  • Her on the verge of tears, “I can’t loose him too.”
  • Grabbing your jacket and your phone, hugging Aunt May tight and telling her you’re going to find him.
  • Spending hours before finding him sulking in hello kitty pajama pants and an awful touristy tshirt.
  • Awkward tension as you text Aunt May and telling her you found him and that he was on his way up.
  • Knowing that there was something wrong but not wanting to engage because you were still mad at him
  • Eventually breaking because you still love him.
  • “I lost the internship with Tony Stark……”
  • “I’m so sorry, Peter. I know how much that meant to you.”
  • “Yeah…..”
  • Letting him go.
  • Regretting not hugging him or comforting him.
  • Going back to your apartment to sulk and eat another pint of ice cream.
  • Turning on the television to torture yourself with more rom-com’s.
  • Witnessing Spider Man and Iron-Man save a bunch of people on a ferry.
  • Dropping your spoon and ice cream as it hits you.
  • Running into your room to grab your journal. (you wrote daily)
  • Comparing the dates and times of when Spider Man was spotted and whenever Peter claimed he had the “internship”.
  • Finding a consistent pattern.
  • It dawning on you that Peter Parker is Spider Man.
  • “Holy shit.”
  • “That little shit!”
  • Running out of your apartment and across the hall.
  • Banging on the door.
  • Aunt May answering with a concerned look.
  • Ignoring her and pushing past her to go straight into Peter’s room.
  • Busting in and then closing the door behind you.
  • Marching straight up to his startled, adorable, puffy eyed self.
  • Punching him in the arm and then covering his mouth when he lets out a yelp.
  • “You’re Spiderman?! Spiderman? Seriously? That’s what the internship with Tony Stark was about? What the hell, dude.”
  • Peter being completely in shock that you found out.
  • Standing there in complete silence for almost half and hour.
  • Him finally explaining how it happened.
  • Understanding why he didn’t want to tell you but still a little salty about it.
  • “So…..are we okay now?”
  • “……..”
  • “[Y/N]?”
  • “……..”
  • Baby.”
  • “Fine. We’re okay but don’t you ever keep secrets from me ever again.”
  • Everything going back to normal.
  • Him showing you all his nifty tricks.
  • Feeling bad that he got his suit taken away.
  • Trying to make him feel better by telling him he doesn’t need the suit.
  • Ned being ecstatic that you know.
  • Because now he can finally talk about it with someone other than Peter.
  • Ned not shutting up about it.
  • Peter showing you a different view of the city.
  • Planning romantic dinners on roof tops.
  • Or well, kind of romantic.
  • It’s mainly subs and sodas.
  • But it’s the thought that counts, alright.
  • Making you promise that you will run away whenever something bad happens.
  • Vowing that he will never let anyone hurt you for as long as he lives because aside from Aunt May, you are the most important person in his life and he does what he does to protect you.

Fuck. I didn’t think I’d get this many people requesting to be tagged. This literally took me forever…..

Heartache

Pairing: Dean x Reader

Word Count: 3,099

Summary: A look at the reader through Dean’s eyes, focusing mostly on Dean’s emotions throughout the day and how he reacts to even the simplest of words. This is the raw and vulnerable side of Dean.

A/N: I haven’t written something like this, I think ever before. It’s heavily focused on Dean (especially since it’s his POV). Even so, the reader is a huge part of it, but once again, through Dean’s perspective on the matter. Hopefully, you love it. I spent a long time on it, trying to really get into Dean’s head. It’s not the light side of Dean, not many jokes or wise cracks – it’s him in his raw emotional state. Also, this would not be possible with @thefangirllifeismine who not only corrected all of my shitty grammar, but stayed an inspiration throughout. Please, send in your feedback. It’s extremely important to me, I’d love to hear what you thought about this, especially since it’s definitely different from what I usually post.

DEAN’S POV:

Her lips were moving, but my eyes were stuck on her hair. It was wet, and dripping a river down her shirt. I don’t think a towel ever touched her head.

“Dean?” Her voice was warm, inviting. It always was. She was never harsh with her words. Sam constantly tried to poke at her, just to see what her voice would sound like if she raised it.

“Yeah?” I met my eyes with hers, catching her gaze.

I felt my brother’s eyes on me as well; his brow was raised and a smirk played on his face.

“We were asking if you wanted to go to the bar tonight.” Sam filled me in.

A laugh came up from my throat as I raised the glass of whiskey in my hand. “I’m fine right here.”

Y/N smiled and looked at Sam, “You’re still in, right?”

He nodded and got up from his chair. “I’ll go shower.”

I tipped my glass in response, and took another swig from it.

“Have you been out in the sun?” Y/N asked, suddenly.

I furrowed my brows, “I was working on Baby earlier, why?” Then, proceeded to lift up my shirt and smell it. “Do I smell that bad?”

“No,” She let out a light laugh, “Your freckles are darker.”

“My- my freckles?”

She leaned forward in her seat, her nose a mere foot from mine, “Freckles get darker in the sun.”

“Huh.” I muttered and took another sip of my drink.

“It’s cute, Dean.” She said and the whiskey managed to go down even slower. My lip twitched upwards.

Without waiting for me to respond, she gathered her hair to the side and wiped her now wet hands off on her jeans before jumping out from her seat.

“I’ll go change for the bar. Invite’s still open.” She smiled, turning on her heel.

I watched her leave, shamelessly.

The first time Sam and I met her, it was an accident. Neither of us knew we had been working the same case, so when I approached who I thought was the legitimate FBI agent on the case, Y/N’s face beamed back at me instead. After a few back and forth questions, the three of us discovered none of us were agents, and went to grab drinks instead. It was supposed to be a one time deal.

But, one night turned into two. Eventually, three. In no time, I was helping her bring boxes into the bunker from the trunk of her run down car.

“We can’t let anything happen to her, you know that right?” Sam said to me the night she moved in. The shower water was running loudly, and in that noise, we had a discussion.

“I know.” I replied to my little brother. Worry etched itself into every wrinkle on his face, just like it did on our mother’s. He would never know just how much he looked like her.

“That means relationships, too.” Sam narrowed his eyes at me.

I looked away, forgetting how easily he was able to read me.

He continued speaking, “Everyone we get too close to…”

Sam never did finish his sentence. The shower water shut off abruptly and out bounced Y/N. Her face was flushed and her hair dripped down her bare shoulders.

My thoughts were interrupted as Sam strided into the room.

“You sure you’re not coming?” He asked, cuffing up the sleeves to his shirt.

It was tempting. I knew the bar had better whiskey than the shit that was currently burning its way down my throat. Better yet, the bar had Y/N. Whenever she entered a bar, I could see everyone’s attention land on her. Her warmth radiated through her big eyes and genuine smile. Who wouldn’t be attracted to that?

“Nope,” I shrugged, “Not tonight.”

He nodded his head and walked towards the door, waiting for Y/N to meet him there.

“See you.” Sam shouted, his voice echoed down the hall.

Moments later, Y/N came out from her room. A short navy dress was hugging her skin, but what stole my attention was the jacket draped across her shoulders.

“I hope you don’t mind.” She said, pulling my black jacket around her.

“Looks better on you, anyways.” I said. It was the truth.

“Thanks, Dean.” She smiled at me before opening her small purse, reviewing whatever items lay inside of it. “See you later.”

With that, she was gone.

It may have been another hour before I got up, but when I finally did it was solely because I needed to go to the bathroom.

I stopped at the mirror. My reflection stared back at me, but this time it was different. Usually, I don’t look in the mirror.

Not when I wake up.

Not before I go to sleep.

If I do, I hate it. Plain as that. I never did like the man staring back, and I don’t know if I ever fully will. What changed though was that this time, someone liked what they saw on me.

My fingers reached up to my cheeks, running along the freckles on my skin.

Y/N liked them.

She honest to god, found something of mine that she liked. So, I did too. Immediately, I loved my freckles. I loved that my cheeks and nose were dusted with them, and that the most beautiful woman that I had ever laid eyes on, had found beauty in me, as well.

– – – –

It couldn’t have been earlier than two o’clock in the morning, when I heard familiar footsteps stumble down the bunker’s staircase. I kicked the sheets off of myself and went to see the state they were both in.

“Come on.” Sam mumbled, trying to hold Y/N up, but he was hardly walking himself. “Dean!” Sam shouted, his drunk self wearing a huge smile.

“Oh, it’s Dean!” Y/N exclaimed, a laugh bubbling out from her lips. She gripped the edge of the staircase with both hands, leaning forward as she spoke.

I crossed my arms and raised my brows, watching the two of them stumble through the bunker like baby deer.

“Here-” Sam tossed me a pair of car keys, “We called a cab, the car is still in the bar parking lot.” The keys hit the floor with a loud jingle, his aim completely skewed from the liquor.

Y/N rounded the edge of the table and began to fall towards me.

“Woah, there.” I grabbed her by her arms and steadied her.

“Thanks.” She laughed once more, at nothing in particular.

Behind me, Sam had already found his way to his room. Eventually, I’d have to check on him. For now, I gripped Y/N’s shoulder and guided her to her own bedroom.

“Oh- I forgot!” She looked up at me with wide eyes. “Remind me in the morning.”

I looked at her, waiting for her to explain. When she didn’t, I asked her what she was talking about.

“I have-” she stuck her hand in the pocket of my jacket that she was wearing and pulled out a napkin. A number was scribbled onto it. “His name is Matt. I have a date with him tomorrow night. Remind me, ok?”

I took the napkin from her, fighting the urge to rip it to shreds.

“Okay.” I stated, turning on the lights as she walked over to her bed.

“Promise me.” She kicked off her shoes sloppily. “He’s so nice-” I could tell she was beginning to ramble. Once she’s had enough to drink, she tends to.

“I bet he is.” I cut her off, helping her unzip her dress.

“And Dean-”

“Yeah?”

“He just has the most gorgeous freckles!”

In that moment, I worried that she could actually hear my heart drop into my stomach. I swallowed thickly, and within seconds, she continued on her drunken ramble.

“Goodnight.” I stated, simply from habit.

“Night, Dean!” She dropped onto her bed.

I should have gone back to bed. I should have crawled under the covers and shut my eyes. My feet had other plans, though. Step after step, I was trudged through the halls and into the library where my hand found a bottle of brown and an old glass.

Sam’s words spun through my head. She had to be protected. I thought back to everyone I had ever gotten close to; Charlie, Jo, and Bela were long dead. Just like every other fucking hunter that I had ever met and let into my life.

Sam tried to show me the positives. He brings up names like Jody and Cas – but who knows what will happen to them too?

I took another shot.

Eventually, it got dark.

– – – –

“Hey, sleepy.” Y/N’s hand gripped my shoulder. “Wake up.”

I opened my eyes and everything was sideways. Fuck.

“You fell asleep here, again.” Her soft voice explained my current situation. It was embarrassing. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, looking at the scene before me. A mostly empty bottle, a half drunk glass, and what I think was a little bit of drool, lay on the table.

“What time is it?” I asked, quickly getting up from the chair and brushing past her. She smelled like her shampoo. Always vanilla.

She turned her wrist towards me. Nearly noon, her watch read.

“Thanks.” I muttered and began walking towards the kitchen.

“I should be thanking you.” Her voice called from behind me. Then, her footsteps began to draw nearer. “I couldn’t have been easy to take care of last night. Sam and I, we kind of let loose.”

I grabbed the coffee pot and turned it on. The sound of boiling water dripping down filled the silence.

“No, it was fine.” I replied, then remembered what she asked of me last night. “Except-” I reached into my back pocket and pulled out a crumpled napkin. “Matt.”

Her eyes went wide, “Oh god.” She took the napkin from my hands. Her hair fell before her face as she read the number, and she combed it back with one hand.

“I totally forgot. Shit.” She pulled out her cell phone and checked for any notifications. “I’ll just text him.”

I turned from her, unable to watch her any longer, and grabbed a cup for my coffee.

“Want some?” I asked over my shoulder.

“No, thanks.” She said, just as her phone beeped. “He already answered!” She exclaimed.

I kept my eyes glued to the cup in front of me, not daring to see her face light up as she saw his name and not mine.

“Smells good.” My brother’s voice carried into the kitchen. He opened the cabinet and grabbed a cup as well, waiting until I finished pouring my own before taking the pot.

“Feeling good, Sammy?” I threatened a laugh and he rolled his eyes.

“I haven’t been this hungover in ages.” He grabbed a bottle of Advil and returned to the table. “It was worth it though, you should have joined.”

I shrugged and took a sip of my coffee.

“Who are you texting?” Sam directed his question at Y/N, who still stood in the middle of the kitchen.

She looked at him and dangled the napkin in the air, “Remember that guy at the bar last night?”

“The really funny one?” He asked.

She nodded fervently, “Yeah, Matt. I got his number and we’re going to grab dinner tonight.”

Sam glanced at me, before returning his gaze to his breakfast.

“He’s a good guy.” Sam said. I think it was more to me, than Y/N.

“I bet.” I mumbled into my drink.

– – – –

Sam decided to watch a movie tonight.

“Batman?” I questioned. He wasn’t one for the superheroes.

He popped it into the disk slot and dropped onto the couch. Looking at his huge frame swallow up the furniture, I remembered being able to hold him in my arms.

“Last time Y/N picked, it’s your turn.” He said while pressing play.

“Good. Wouldn’t want one of your history documentaries to bore me to death, tonight.” I began to laugh and he rolled his eyes.

“Whatever.” He muttered and grabbed the bowl of popcorn he had prepared.

An hour into the movie, the bunker door swung open. The loud creak it made reminded me to oil it later.

“Y/N?” I called out her name. The heels she was wearing when she left were no longer on. Her bare feet padded against the hardwood floor until she finally reached us.

“How was it?” Sam asked, lowering the volume.

Her lips formed a fine line, “I’m just going to go shower.” She grabbed a fistful of popcorn before disappearing.

I looked at my brother. His brows were raised as he shook his head in confusion.

“I’ll go-” I sat up from the chair, “I’ll go check on her.”

Her door was shut. I raised my fist to knock, but she opened it before I got the chance.

“You walk loudly.” She stated. My lips formed at ‘O’.

“What was that about?” I motioned towards the other room with my thumb.

She shrugged and put her heels away in the closet.

“Sorry about that.” She looked up at me with her big, bold eyes, “I think Matt was a lot nicer when he was drunk.”

I crossed my arms and sat on the edge of her bed. “Huh?”

“Well, we ordered our food and everything was great. I mean finally, a break from hunting.” She explained, and I sighed.

She pulled her bouncy hair out from the pins it was in while she continued, “He was sweet at first, really. But I could tell something changed. Matt wanted more than what I did…”

My arms fell to my sides, “Did you leave?”

“Yeah, but that was only after he asked me four times to go back to his place.” She was on the floor, her legs bent underneath her. She dropped her hands onto the floor from frustration as she spoke.

“What a douchebag.” I stated, no other word was able to form itself. “You don’t deserve that.”

She looked up at me, and a smile formed itself against her cheeks.

“I’m gonna be single forever.” She joked. “I mean, who am I kidding?”

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

From her spot on the floor, she reached out and gripped my leg with her hand. “Come on, Dean. We’re hunters. Let’s say it did work out with Matt – who’s to say he wouldn’t freak out the second that I brought him down into the bunker or told him that vampires are real!” Her grip tightened as she spoke, “It’s so fucking frustrating sometimes.”

“Dating is the worst.” I agreed with her.

“No.” She ran her hand down my leg and to my ankle, where she removed it.

I furrowed my brows and looked at her, every bit of me confused.

“Then what?”

“Being alone.” Her eyes dropped from mine and my chest suddenly felt heavy. I knew the feeling of being alone, too well. It was heartbreaking, yet familiar at the same time. It was relief, yet yearning.

“You got me.” I blurted out.

She got up from her spot on the floor by my legs, and situated herself on the bed so she sat next to me.

“I know that, Dean. I meant… more.” Y/N’s voice dwindled into a whisper. I turned my head to face her, and in that moment, I couldn’t lie to her.

“Exactly.” I stated, and her eyes first searched my face. They traveled from eye to eye as she thought of what I could possibly mean, until her lips parted.

I didn’t know what to expect. My heart hasn’t raced this fast since for someone else since high school. I either just started the relationship I had been waiting for, or ruined a friendship that was worth more to me than anything else.

I was so focused on her face that I hadn’t realized her hand found mine.

I wanted to keep her hand there, to squeeze it tight. But, Sam’s words found their way back into my head.

“I’m selfish.” I stated simply, standing up from the bed.

“What?”

“I’m being selfish, you deserve better.”

She tilted her head at me, her hair falling with it. “What are you talking about, Dean?”

“Everyone I touch, they-”

“I know what you’re going to say.” Y/N cut me off. “Don’t you dare say it.”

“They leave.”

“You know I’m not going to.” She stood up from the bed and walked up to me, placing her open palms on my chest. “I’m not just somebody.”

“That’s the point!” I exclaimed, voice rising. “You aren’t just somebody! What if something happened to you? I can’t let you get hurt.”

“You’re not my keeper, Dean.”

I laced my fingers around her wrists, holding her palms tightly against my chest. “From the first time you walked through those bunker doors, I wanted no one but you, and you know why I haven’t told you?”

She looked up at me through her lashes.

“I have been torturing myself every day, because I want you safe. I need you safe.”

For a few moments, no one said anything. Y/N just stared up at me with a look I had never seen before.

Then, she stood on her toes, and pressed her lips to mine.

And God, it was everything I thought it would be. She was warm and sweet, like honey. Her hands were squeezing at my waist and I knew right there that I was done for.

My hands traveled up to her neck, grazing every inch of her skin.

“Since the first day?” She teased, speaking slowly against my lips.

I laughed, “Since day one.” I affirmed and she smiled so wide that all I wanted to do was kiss every inch of her bubbly cheeks.

“How about we get dinner tonight, sweetheart.” I asked, hoping she was still hungry after the shit dinner she described with Matt.

“I’d love to.” Y/N’s fingers found mine and she led me out of her room.

Sam was still seated on the couch. His hand was glued to the remote and I could hear the channel being changed every other second. When we passed through, my hand still in hers, he raised his brows and stared at me.

“Woah, wait-” He called out behind us.

“We’ll be back soon!” Y/N called over her shoulder.

A smile remained on my face for the rest of the night, never faltering.

MASTERLIST // PART TWO

“Mr Howell, can you please pay attention?!”

“I don’t know, can I?” Dan was smirking and cockily looking up at the teacher. She seemed perplex and instead of answering she just handed him a detention slip.

Dan didn’t really care instead he enjoyed that he made the whole class laugh. He felt like he was glowing as Mrs Hammersmith was evilly glaring at every student that couldn’t hold in their laughter.

And then he heard her, the girl that sat in the middle of class right in front of him. He’d been staring at her back all semester but not once had he heard her talk. Okay, maybe she had answered a question that she was asked, but she never said more than that.

But right at this moment he could clearly hear her giggle at his comment and he had never heard anything that beautiful. It was light and so genuine.

Dan had never really noticed her before. She was just there. Nobody ever payed attention to her and that was what she wanted. She didn’t want to be noticed but ever since Dan heard her giggle he couldn’t stop noticing her.

When the bell rang every student quickly sprinted outside. Everybody seemed to hate English Literature taught by Mrs Hammersmith, but Y/N didn’t. She liked the books her teacher gave the class to read and she’d spent nights devouring them. Still she didn’t say much during class even though she knew all the answers. Y/N just didn’t feel like she needed the attention unlike the boys who sat right behind her.

She picked up her school bag and notebook as she followed everyone outside.

“Get out of the way!” She heard somebody shout, seconds later she felt a hard shoulder hit hers.

A blonde guy was chasing his friend through the hallway. He didn’t pay enough attention to his surroundings to see Y/N walking right in front of him. The two of them collided. She was pushed against a stranger’s locker and dropped everything she was carrying. Her notebook hit the floor with a loud thud as the loose pieces of paper she stored in there scattered all over the floor.

Her ‘attacker’ didn’t even say anything he was long gone when Y/N got up again.

“You look like you need help.”

Dan had watched his friend Joe chase Carter, another friend of his, down the hallway. At first, he laughed because he knew that Carter must have done something really stupid, but then he saw Joe run into the quiet girl from class.

Y/N gulped nervously. Before she could tell the brown-haired boy that ‘it’s okay’ he had already started picking up her notes and scribbles.

“Don’t worry about it. I’m Dan by the way.” He showed her his friendliest smile. She smiled back as soon as she saw his dimples. Y/N recognized him as the guy who sat behind her in English Lit.

“Hi, I’m Y/N.”

Dan was surprised that her voice wasn’t all quiet. It just sounded very clear.

She bent down next to him to help him pick up her papers. Dan gathered as many as he could and couldn’t stop himself from taking a quick glance at them before he handed them back.

Her handwriting wasn’t as neat as he had expected it to be. It was rather messy but he could still make out a few words. It didn’t look like anything school related.

Y/N noticed that Dan took a look at her notes. She had just scribbled song lyrics and poems down and she was sure he couldn’t even read what it said.

“Thank you for helping me.”

“You’re welcome. I’m sorry that Joe pushed you over.” Dan nervously laughed a little. He didn’t really want this conversation to end, but he had nothing else to say.

“Don’t worry about it. It wasn’t on purpose.”

“I’ll see you around?” Dan asked her, hoping that they would get the chance to talk to each other again.

“I guess so.” Y/N answered.

They had never talked to each other before. In fact, she didn’t talk much. Dan was one of the loud boys in the back of class, so Y/N was understandably a bit confused by his sudden…interest?

After they had said their byes they walked off in different directions. Dan couldn’t stop himself from turning around again and staring at her back that was moving away from him.

‘Who is she?’ he silently asked himself and he didn’t find an answer.

Yes, she was the quiet and shy girl that sat in front of him in class, but who was she really?

Dan just needed to find out.

He hadn’t stopped thinking about her once after that incident. He even subtly asked his friends about her, but most of them didn’t even knew what girl he was talking about.

The next time he walked into English class he had a weird feeling in his stomach region. He wasn’t feeling sick though, he was excited? nervous even?

She was already waiting for class to start in her assigned seat as always. A part of her face was hidden behind a strand of her hair as she was drawing little butterflies next to some of her notes.

When Dan walked past her seat she glanced up at him for a second, their eyes met and then she quickly looked down again.

Dan took the chair behind her and as soon as the bell rang Mrs Hammersmith started with her lesson. It was not unusual that Dan didn’t listen to whatever she said but normally it was because he’d be joking around with his friends.

That wasn’t the reason this time. This time he was thinking about the colour of Y/N’s eyes and how he had never seen more beautiful ones.

Mrs Hammersmith started handing out new books for everybody to read and most of the class groaned as she did so.

Y/N on the other hand curiously examined the title and cover of the book as soon it was handed to her. After every student was given a copy of the book Mrs Hammersmith raised her voice.

“I want you to do presentations on this novel.” She announced and again the class groaned.

“In pairs” the teacher then added and seemed to cheer up most of her students.

Y/N, however, quickly raised her hand.

Before she was even asked to speak, Mrs Hammersmith answered her question.

“No Miss Y/L/N you can’t do the presentation on your own. You’ll need to find a partner.”

Y/N’s hand slowly sank in defeat.

“I can be her partner.”

Every student in this class seemed to turn around to stare at Dan. Their eyes were nearly grouching out of their socket as they couldn’t believe that he had volunteered to pair up with the girl nobody noticed.

Even Y/N had turned around to face him. He was shooting her a grin and shrugged his shoulders as if he were saying ‘why not?’.

She simply nodded, agreeing to do this project together.

After class had ended Dan quickly followed Y/N outside.

“So… when do you want to meet up?” Dan asked her, scratching the back of his neck.

“Do you think you can finish the book until Friday?” she asked him, eying the novel she was now carrying on top of her notebook. It was pretty thin, she would probably read it in one go tonight.

“Sure.” He positively said although it would probably take him a while since he wasn’t really into reading that much.

“Good. Then we can meet up Friday after school. My place?” She wanted to know.

“Sounds great.” Dan smiled at her, already looking forward to Friday.

As the day of days had finally came Dan was unable to concentrate on anything in class or listen to anything his friends said. The only thought he was able to think was ‘I’m going to see Y/N today’.

Dan had stayed up until way past his usual bed time in order to finish the book. He was busy all week and didn’t have the chance to read it, but he would’ve done anything to finish it.

After his last lesson on Friday he nearly jumped up from his seat, he didn’t even say goodbye to Joe or Carter, he walked out of the building straight away to wait for Y/N in the parking lot.

To his surprise, she was already waiting for him right next to the entrance. What Dan didn’t know was that she was just as excited as him.

“Hi” she greeted him and Dan’s heart swelled with happiness at the simple word.

“Hey Y/N” he greeted her back and as she started walking he just followed her.

“We need to take the bus.” She explained as they made their way to the bus stop.

Five minutes later Dan sat in a bus that was driving in the opposite direction to where his house was.

They sat next to each other but didn’t talk much. Still, it wasn’t an awkward kind of silence between them. It just felt normal.

After Y/N had told Dan where to get off they walked a few metres until they had reached her house. She got the keys from her bag and unlocked the front door.

“My parents are at work. How do you feel about ordering something for lunch?” Y/N asked the brown-haired boy that kept looking around the house.

“Sounds perfect to me.” Dan exclaimed, only now noticing how hungry he was.

Dan took his shoes and jacket off before grabbing his bag again and waiting for her to tell him what to do.

“My room is upstairs.” She explained before she ran up the stairs on her tip toes. Just that simple act made him grin.

He followed her and as he entered her room his mouth hung open. There were Green Day posters and lyrics plastered all over her walls. There was even a drum kit in the back of her room.

He stared at her with wide eyes as he noticed the stacks of video games next to her TV. He had played and loved most of them, but he saw some that he didn’t even know of.

“There is a sequel to The Last of Us?” he asked her flabbergasted, picking up the game from where it was lying next to her PS4.

“It came out yesterday. I pre-ordered it. It’s so much better than I had expected it to be, and my expectations were high!” She excitedly exclaimed and Dan was taken aback by how passionate she was about it and how vigorous her voice sounded.

His gaze wandered through her room for a while as he took in all the tiny details and decorations.

Then, his eyes landed on Y/N again and he couldn’t help but stare at the girl nobody but him noticed. And boy, they all missed out on something.

“Who are you?” he asked her with a smile, not being able to read her.

“Why doesn’t he care?” 9.0

Y/N’s p.o.v

It’s been a week since I told him to leave and I was currently on my way to the hospital to get a check up on my injuries, remove bandages and what not. I’ve got two weeks sick leave from work and it’s only been a week in and I don’t know what to do with myself for the next week. I’ve been even more tired recently, sleeping every chance I get and I’ve become an emotional wreck - every time I saw something that reminded me of Taehyung, I couldn’t help but tear up. I miss him so much, more than I should but how could I not when we had so much together. He still meant the world to me and more, articles started spreading saying that our relationship was over, which of course was true but to have it publicly published confirms our breakup and that reality hit me so much harder and that hurts so so much, it’s as if someone stuck their hand in my chest and ripped my heart out. Each time I think about our breakup, I regret it - but I had to let him live his life without being tied down to me when he could be out there having the time of his life without having to worry about me and I couldn’t bare being left alone when I thought I had someone that I could rely on. It’s better knowing what you don’t have than knowing what you do have but can’t have.

I arrived promptly to my appointment, waiting in the designated area for my name to be called. I didn’t have to wait long until the nurse came and guided me to the doctor’s office.

“Ah Miss Y/L/N, how are you?” the doctor was nice and had a friendly smile. I sat down on the ‘bed’ that was in the corner of the room next to the doctor’s desk.

“I’ve been okay I guess, just sore basically everywhere especially my rib area and I’ve been extra tired recently, I’ve been feeling faint and out of breath too.” I explained the symptoms and waited for her to hopefully clarify that I was not about to die any time soon. She lifted my shirt to check my rib area, then moving on to my my arm to see how my scratches and bruises were healing.

“Well by the looks of it, the minor injuries are healing well and you can see that the bruises on your arm are now turning and yellow green which means that it is healing. But because of your other symptoms I’ll run a couple of tests just to make sure you’re doing okay like I think you are. You’re probably feeling faint because you’re short of breath because of the heavy bruising around your rib area that makes it difficult for you to take in deep breaths.” I nodded at her and thanked her before following the nurse through to take those tests.

It’s been three days since I’ve had those tests and yesterday the receptionist at the hospital asked me to visit today to speak to the doctors about the results I had. I’m not going to deny the fact that I was terrified, walking in alone I greeted the doctor once again and took a seat on the other side of her desk.

“Hi Miss Y/L/N how are you?” she asked once again.

“I’m doing okay thanks for asking and please call me Y/N.” I confirmed.

“Now I have your test results here.” she said as she placed both her hands on the few pieces of paper that was on her desk. I bit my lip nervously as she picked up a piece of paper.

“So the results here show that you’re pregnant. Congratulations.” Right then and there I felt as though my whole world had stopped.

I don’t know if really like this part or it was a good idea and it’s definitely NOT my best work but I did what my gut told me to do 😂 this parts also kinda like a filler? I hope you will continue to enjoy it! I should have merged the next part together but I’ve always liked a ‘dramatic’ line to end with so yeah… request for 9.5!💜

therock After we feed her, Jasmine just loves looking at daddy’s tattoos. I think it helps her digest😂. Can’t wait to one day explain to her what all this means. Chat about her cultures (Samoan, Armenian, African American and Italian). And while these symbols may appear to be primitive, unsophisticated and crude - they’re extremely sacred, thousands of years old and very powerful. My mana (strength). Ironically enough the symbol she’s fixated on is our ATUA (our God) protected by the small building blocks of my life and then by shark teeth.

Yuuuuup, we gonna have some good daddy/daughter chats. Until then she’ll continue to use daddy’s tattoos as a place to scratch, drool and spit up

The Weird History of Batgirl

Because I can let’s talk Batgirl, shall we?

It all starts in 1954 with a horrible book called “Seduction of the Innocent” a psychiatrist named Fredric Wertham claimed in his book basically everything wrong with society came from comics. One of his most famous claims was that Batman and Robin were gay and in a relationship and Batman comics were making young boys gay. The book blew up, there were Congressional hearings and the adoption of the “Comics Code”. DC was left with a major issue, millions of Americans had heard that Batman was gay and making their sons gay, so in 1956 they gave him a girlfriend.

Kathy Kane, Batwoman. She was… um… you can imagine a woman hero in the 1950s made up solely to give Batman a case of the not gays? she was about as effective as you can expect, rather than an utility belt she had a utility purse. Basically she was there to tease Batman, or to need to get saved by Batman. Now Dick’s age between 1940 and the late 1970s was a little vague but the first 20ish years Robin was very young (9-10 years old). Starting in the late 1950s and early 1960s to reflect a slightly different age demographics of the readers DC started to shift him to be more of a middle school age. As a result the question was raised “Does Robin have a case of the not gays?”

In 1960 DC answered that question and gave us Bat-Girl (note the spelling) Betty Kane was Kathy Kane’s niece. She was basically the same as Batwoman in being basically useless, teasing Dick (as you can see) and needing to be saved by him. She didn’t last long She showed up a number of times between 1960 and 1964 when a new editor thankfully canned the fainting doormat love interests. Betty wasn’t seen or heard from for about 10 years, briefly she appeared in the Teen Titans in the 1970s

(wait is her hand on Dick’s butt?) I don’t think they explained where she went or anything. After Crisis on Infinite Earths Batwoman and Bat-Girl were written out of history. Bette Kane (note the spelling) would return as the hero Flamebird with a new history

in 1966 Ratings were struggling in the live action Batman TV show and Executive producer William Dozier asked Batman editor Julius Schwartz to come up with a female hero to help attract women to the show. It was Dozier to came up with the idea that she’d be the daughter of Commissioner James Gordon. Selling the idea of Batgirl (note the spelling) to ABC is a big part of why they got a 3rd season of the show. in 1967 DC comics rolled out the first comic appearance of Batgirl

As you can see she still had an utility purse but at least she wasn’t in a skirt. Unlike Batwoman and Bat-Girl Babs refused to retire when ordered by condescending male Batman on grounds of her gender. Shortly there after Yvonne Craig brought Batgirl to life on the Batman TV show, the character was so popular she almost got her own spin off TV show (which would have been great)

Sadly Batgirl was not enough to save the Batman TV show and the 3rd season was it’s last. But Batgirl was here to stay, She was a hard working Ph.D head of Gotham City public library, who appeared regularly in comics. She was very much her own crime fighter and a career woman which ruffled some feathers in 1971 DC published an open letter to people who had a problem with an empowered lady hero.

“I’d like to say a few words about the reaction some readers have to Batgirl. These are readers who remember Batwoman and the other Bat-girls from years back … They were there because romance seemed to be needed in Batman’s life. But thanks to the big change and a foresighted editor, these hapless females are gone for good. In their place stands a girl who is a capable crime-fighter, a far cry from Batwoman who constantly had to be rescued [by] Batman.“

In the early 1970s Babs became a Congresswoman (only one term), retired, came back, went on a blind date with Clark Kent and come out as Batgirl to her dad. In 1975 DC started a comic called “Batman Family” which co-stared Batgirl and Robin starting the iconic partnership that would define both characters for years

Batgirl would also partner with Supergirl, she would give the eulogy for Supergirl during Crisis on Infinite Earths. Some things got changed about Babs after Crisis (for example she was Jim’s adopted daughter) Since the early 1980s struggled to find a place for Batgirl, and post-Crisis it got worse. in 1988 Alan Moore wrote The Killing Joke

In which Barbara is shot and crippled by the Joker in an effort to drive Commissioner Gordon insane. The story is still deeply controversial since Babs’ feelings about the attack are not explored in any way and her suffering is only about the emotional impact it has on two male characters (Her father, and Batman). In 2006 Moore apologized calling the story “shallow and ill-conceived” He recounted the react from DC editor Len Wein and Dick Giordano when he asked if it was okay to cripple Barbara. According to Moore they told him “Yeah, okay, cripple the bitch.” a line that has become iconic of comic’s disregard and downright hate of female characters.

While many (male) writers and editors at DC assumed this was the end of the character and she would be retired the husband wife team of DC editor Kim Yale and writer John Ostrander refused to allow this to be the end. Revamping Barbara’s character as the wheelchair using super hacker, and brains of the DC, Oracle

11 years after Killing Joke DC did a major year long cross over event for all Batman books/characters. It was called No Man’s Land, Gotham City suffered a massive earthquake and after years of getting bailed out by the federal government. Gotham is evacuated and closed off from the rest of the US. However the poor, the criminals and a dedicated force of Gotham’s finest refuse to leave the city. Batman is missing at first and the city is protected by a new Batwoman

Batman returns and the two work together for a time till it’s revealed that the new Batgirl/woman is Helena Bertinelli, the Huntress. She took up the Bat mantle to keep hope alive in a battered city and to win approval from Batman who had been against her violent ways. They have a falling out and Bruce demands the suit which Bertinelli gives up.

Meanwhile during No Man’s Land Babs took in a mute girl who they find has extreme fighting skills. This is Cassandra Cain, the daughter of the assassin David Cain. After Bertinelli gives up the Batgirl uniform it’s passed to Cain.

Cain would be the first Batgirl to get her own comic book (Batgirl Volume 1 and Volume 2) She would learn out to talk and read, build friendships with Barbara Gordon and Stephenie Brown as well as other Batfam members, have a brief relationship with Superboy, and prove herself maybe the most skilled fighter in the Batfam (even giving Bruce a run for his money)

Of course all good things must end and DC turned her evil in a really dumb way that I won’t go into, and was hand waved away as “mind control” She bounced around between being and not being Batgirl in the middle 2000s before passing the job on to Stephenie Brown, Cassandra would return as Black Bat, the Batman of Hong Kong, and in DC rebirth as Orphan, now a much less talkative version of herself who seems not to really do full sentences

Then there’s Stephanie Brown. Steph was originally the hero Spoiler. She was the daughter of a D list villain named “Cluemaster” (think a shitty Riddler) and was motivated to spoil his crimes. Despite Batman’s misgivings Tim Drake as Robin (without revealing his identity) helps her and they become friends, partners and boyfriend and girlfriend. She suffers through being kinda a member of the Batfam but not really, Tim girlfriend, an awkward teen pregnancy subplot that was all about Tim’s feelings and not hers. Things got better as Steph became a regular in Cass’s Batgirl. In 2004 there was a story arch where Tim Drake’s father Jack Drake learned he was Robin and forced Tim to retire. As a result Batman took Stephanie on as Robin. DC did what it tends to do to Lady characters and screwed her over. Steph was apparently tortured to death during the War Games crossover event (also the only black member of the Bat stable of characters was also murdered during that event, good times) Many fans reacted very poorly to this, and to he disrespect executive editor Dan DiDio showed in 2007 when he said that “She was never really a Robin”.

In 2008 Steph’s death was revealed to have been faked and she returned to the DCU. In 2009 Cassandra Cain handed over the title and uniform of Batgirl to Steph. Steph would soon rework the outfit to include her iconic Spoiler purple, she’d work closely with Barbara Gordon and was now a College Freshman rather than a high schooler, she dealt with Tim as Red Robin, Daman Wayne, and Dick Grayson’s Batman at different points during her run in Batgirl Volume 3 between 2009 and 2011

in 2011 DC rebooted reality for the New52, despite fan protests like Cassandra Steph was retconned out of reality till DC rebirth where Steph has returned as Spoiler, seemingly once again a high schooler and Tim Drake’s girlfriend

Finally in 2011 DC rebooted everything. In the new reality Barbara Gordon’s paralysis only lasted 3 years. DC has never really managed to clear up the story if she was or wasn’t Oracle, how she got to walk again etc. She’s also depicted as much younger than the past and her relationship with Dick Grayson was erased. This new Barbara has proved controversial with fans, many of who object to removing one of the only handicapped characters from DC. As well as moving Babs from an arguably central role in the DCU and Batfam to more of a side character. Others have struggled with the texting teenager characterization of this Batgirl.

“Ow!”

“Sorry Swan, I didn’t just put that cabinet there, it’s been in place since I moved in.”

The leg pressed against his side digs a bit into his ribs and he chuckles, giving his best friend a cocky smirk as she rubs at the back of her head she’s just slammed into his upper cabinet after a too hearty laugh. They’re both a little tipsy, teetering closer over the edge into drunk with each pass of the bottle of rum between them. Said bottle is in his hand now and he twirls the brown liquid around, wondering how many sips they have left and if it’s really a good idea for Emma to be sitting on the counter in her current state.

“Shit, I hear Ruby. Killian, do me a favor?”

Not looking up from the bottle he merely nods, knowing there is very little in the world he won’t agree to do for Emma Swan.

“Eyes up here, sailor, this is important.”

Her green eyes are wide and imploring and his hand wraps around her knee in support of whatever distress has suddenly come over her.

“What is it, love?”

“Ruby is desperate to pair me up and mentioned bringing someone with her tonight for me to meet. I’m really not in the mood. Or interested. Can we…you know…pretend for just a minute…to…you know…”

A cold sweat breaks out beneath his flannel, his heart both breaking and doubling in time at the suggestion of pretending to “you know” with the woman sitting beside him. He’s wanted to “you know” with Emma for longer than he can remember, so it won’t take much on his part to sell the idea. He can’t help but feel lost at her wanting to pretend.

“But Ruby knows we’re just friends, so won’t she smell bullshit a mile away?”

“Wake up!”

Steve sat up on the sofa, holding his head with both hands. He winced at Bucky’s loud voice and rubbed his eyes with the heels of his hands.

“Shh! Stop shouting.” Steve whispered.

“Y/n is gone, I can’t find her anywhere.”

“Maybe she just went for a walk.” He mumbled, hiding his eyes in the crook of his elbow

“She doesn’t go anywhere, Steve! She’s a fucking ghost!” Bucky screamed.

Who Was Pearl’s Diamond

So, the big question about Pearl in Steven Universe is: Who was Pearl’s diamond?

Well, it’s possible she might not have even been owned by a diamond, but the possibilities are endless there, but she might not have been Rose’s pearl before the rebellion. Rose was just a warrior, so why would she need a pearl? That’s basically my only reasoning for her owner to have been Rose before the rebellion.

Now, the diamonds. Honestly, it differs depending on what you look at. In the episode The Answer she comes out looking like this.

It might be the lighting, but she looks like she could have been White Diamond’s pearl, since she’s mostly white. If you compare this depiction of pearl to the other two, her looks point towards her being White’s pearl. Sine those two are the colors of their diamonds, and their gem placed in the same spots as their diamonds.

Hers is on her forehead, same as White Diamond. And going back to what she looks like in The Answer, it changed though when the setting changes.

So, it could have been the lighting to make her look all White, but if you looks back at Ruby and Sapphire,

They’re just different shades of the one color, until they get on earth.

Their colors change. Slightly, yeah, but they change to their actual colors from their main color theme. Now that means, Pearl’s color theme was white.

So, she might have belonged to White diamond.

Now, some of you might be thinking

“WAIT ASHLEY!! BUT IN THE EPISODE BACK TO THE BARN PEARL’S JUMPSUIT HAS PINK DIAMOND’S INSIGNIA ON IT!!!11!!11111!!! AND WHEN EYEBALL REVEALED IN BACK TO THE MOON THAT ROSE SHATTERED PINK DIAMOND SHE WAS CRYING!!!!!1111111!!!!111!!!”

Shhhhhuit up. Hear me out. Now, if you don’t remember her jumpsuit, here ya  go.

There is indeed a pink diamond on it, yeah, but wait for the end for me to explain, as for her crying at Pink’s shattering,

I’ll explain at the end as well.

Jasper called her “A defective Pearl”. Now if you compare her gem to the other pearls we’ve seen, it’s more oval in shape, while theirs are perfect circles.

If you compare them, our Pearl’s gem is clearly differently shaped than the homeworld ones.

Now here’s where that^ all comes together.

Pearl was made for White Diamond, hint her mainly white theme and placement of her gem, but came out defective. White gave Pearl to Pink, for until she got a pearl of her own, as a temporary pearl. This is where she got the pink diamond insignia on her jumpsuit. She met Rose while in Pink’s command, and Pink got her own Pearl made for her. They were going to shatter our Pearl(since she’s considered defective)but Rose defended her, the rest is history. Then Rose(supposedly) shatters Pink. Pearl, being torn between the gem she loves dearly(Rose) and the gem she grew a bit close to before the rebellion(Pink), so her feelings are mixed. She pushes it away, ignoring it and tries to continue on under Rose. So, she ends up in tears when it’s revealed.

So my theory on who our Pearl’s diamond is that she was made for White Diamond, but she was defective, so they gave her to Pink as a temporary Pearl until she got one made for her.

There’s Someone Else...

Ok so I don’t write fan fic very much or ever really, but I wrote this.

It happened again.

Supergirl saved Lena Luthor’s life.

They were both beginning to lose count as to how many times since Lena had moved to National City. Supergirl caught Lena as she was falling, and gently flew her back up to the safety of the Lena’s L Corp office balcony.

Lena looked relieved, and shyly smiled at Supergirl, shaking her head.

“Thanks Supergirl, I sometimes think the world is trying to tell me something, but then here you are, to save me from my family, again.”

As she walked to her desk, Supergirl followed.

Underneath the S and the cape, it was getting harder for Kara to keep it all professional. She just wanted to hold Lena close and tell her that she would never let anything happen to her.

“It’s alright Lena, it’s… what I’m here for.” she said softly.

Supergirl stepped closer to Lena, staring into her green eyes, wrapping one hand around her waist.

Lena stood still has Supergirl leaned into kiss her. Lena turned her head, and looked down.

“I can’t.” Lena whispered, before looking back up into the wounded blue eyes of the super hero.

“There’s someone else.”

Supergirl froze, not sure what to do, realizing her mistake and  wanting something to call her attention to somewhere else.

“You’re ok now, I should go.” she stammered out slowly backing away.

“Wait!” called Lena.

“You, don’t need to explain.” Supergirl said desperately, shaking her head, wanting to end the embarrassment.

“But I do”  Lena said calmly,  taking her hand. Supergirl stood there confused with a furrowed brow, as Lena came closer to her with something in her hand.

“Close your eyes.” whispered Lena wrapped as she wrapped her arms around the confused blonde’s neck and into her hair. The smell of Lena’s perfume was like a spell, She then realized that Lena was pulling her hair into a ponytail, followed by a pair of reading glasses on her face.

Lena stepped back, smiling, proud of her work, as Supergirl opened her eyes.

“Kara Danvers, my–” is all she got out before Kara pulled Lena to her and kissed her deeply.

everything in between...

After the final battle, Killian and Emma finally find their way home. (I like imagining the conversations we never see, and the sexy times that follow)
rated M, 1200 words

The walk up to their door seems endless, both of them clinging to the last tendrils of adrenaline keeping them upright after a hellishly long day. Killian’s lost track of the hour, but his body feels every minute spent, muscles still burning from his climb and fall from the beanstalk, head aching from clenching his teeth as Emma performed her Savior’s sacrifice before his eyes. Her fingers give his a gentle squeeze causing her wedding ring to press against his and like a rope snapping loose in the wind, he becomes completely untethered. Eyes burning with overflowing emotion, he stops, turns and gathers her close, tucking his face into her hair as hot tears splash down over his cheeks.

“Hey, what’s wrong?”

Shaking his head, he just pulls her in tighter, not sure of how to express the weight of everything crashing down over him, just knowing he needs to hold her and allow himself a moment to find his bearings. Her woolen cap is slightly rough against his temple, but it’s so achingly Emma that he finds himself leaning further into it, the threads drying the tracks of his tears. Keeping his hook anchored against her back, he loosens his grip on her jacket so he can cup her cheek with his hand, forcing a shaky smile upon his lips as he finds her worried eyes with his own.

“Sorry, Swan, it’s been an exceedingly trying day.”

Too entitled to wait in line.

I checked out a lady In the garden center the other day. She had asked for a certain amount of mulch she said “whatever is cheapest is what I want” so I showed her a picture of it on my phone to verify what she was getting. She comes back a couple minutes later with our sale ad saying I had given her the wrong one she wanted the one on sale (2$ a bag) but I had given her the “cheapest” (1.54 a bag)

The whole time she was complaining about it I was trying to check out other customers. She said she hadn’t loaded the mulch yet so I told her I could easily do a return/exchange for her in just. I asked her kindly to go ahead and get in line so I could get to her quicker because more people were heading towards the check out but there were only two people ahead of her at that point.

She started getting huffy and wondering why the other Cashier couldn’t just do it. So I pointed out that the other Cashier had went to lunch. And she started making a scene about how had to wait in line.

“you mean I have to wait in line AGAIN”!
“yes ma'am I’m sorry about that but I am on the middle of this transaction, but if you get in line I can get to you before the line grows any more.”

HER: “well it’s not my fault that you messed up I shouldn’t be punished” (the whole time she is standing next to my counter while the other customer is trying to pay.)

Me: “I’m very sorry ma'am but you can get in line behind this gentle man, or you are welcome to go inside to the customer service desk, but the line is usually worse in there.”

She then sighed very loudly and stomped off because the line had grown to 4 people while she was complaining about having to wait behind 2 people. I finally managed to clear out most of the line and there was a woman my age checking out. She had seen the whole thing and told me she thought I handled it very well.

Then when I went on lunch later I saw the customer service Cashier and she says
“what did you do to the lady with the mulch”

“I told her she had to wait in line”

“Oh that explains why she jumped in front of everyone, then started yelling when we told her she needed to wait in line”

Tldr: a lady asked for the cheapest mulch, got mad when I gave her the cheapest one instead of the one in the sale ad, and then pitched a fit because she couldn’t cut line to return it.

Jaebum panicked.

He was going to the Neptune Oyster tonight, but he was going for work. Maybe he wouldn’t see you, or maybe he will. It will be awkward if he does see you. He contemplated telling you that he was going tonight. He didn’t want you to think he was stalking you, but it would be odd if you see him there and he never mentioned he would be there.

“So how about you? Are you taking Jaehwan to any fun activities tonight?”

Jaebum looked up at you with a confused expression.

“Oh…um. I don’t know yet. I hope  you enjoy celebrating  with your friend.” Jaebum said abruptly.

Jaebum got up.

“Hello?” Sam kicks off his boots, an automatic reflex in Jody’s house now. He keeps the small bag on his shoulder, carrying only a couple of books and his laptop, waiting to set it down until he gets upstairs. It’s nice not to need the large duffel anymore. He’s got a laundry basket worth of clothes mixed in with Jody’s upstairs, and half of a bathroom counter filled with his toiletries, and it’s so much easier. Not to mention that fuzzy feeling in his chest when he pictures his toothbrush in the holder next to hers. “Babe?”

There’s no answer from the living room or kitchen, so he heads upstairs. “Jody?”

No answer.
