So I kinda fell off the Red Queen wagon halfway through the second book; just lost interest in the story and couldn't associate with it. But I do want to say that I'm glad you have a following for your books & are able to do what you love & can complete a book and its story. I've always wanted to write a book, but I just have half-baked ideas that I have no ending to & can never seem to get more than a few chapters in before being distracted. NTM my awful Carpal Tunnel that makes writing painful

I’m sorry Glass Sword lost you! All the best and good luck writing. See you in the trenches! :)

Where do you put the gas? or WWCGD (What Would Clark Griswold Do?)

Finding where to put the gas in the Wagon Queen Family Truckster was a cinch compared to just a few of Detroit’s offerings.

Obit of the Day: The King of Car Customization

In 1965, George Barris received a call from William Dozier, produce of the new Batman television series. Mr. Dozier needed a car for the Caped Crusader and wanted something that felt modern. Mr. Barris had just the thing, a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car, that he modified in three weeks to create the legendary Batmobile (see above).

Although his most recognizable creation Mr. Barris, who originally worked with his brother Sam, customized thousands of cars for both private owners as well as films and television shows. The brothers were legends for modifying American cars to create a distinct California “look” that won them numerous awards and even earned them a spot on the cover of Motor Trend

His Hollywood work peaked in the 1960s, when he developed cars for The Munsters, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Banana Splits Adventure Hour, and Mannix. He also designed cars for many of the screen’s biggest stars including Bob Hope, John Wayne, Zsa-Zsa Gabor, and Sonny and Cher, who had matching Mustang convertibles.

Although his work slowed as the market for larger cars shrunk, he worked on films into the 1980s. Most notably, he created the Wagon Queen Family Truckster for National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983).

George Barris, who sold the original Batmobile in 2013 for more than $4 million, died on November 5, 2015 at the age of 89.

When he’d learned of his brother’s assault on Storm’s End, Renly had split his forces, much as Robb had done at the Twins. His great mass of foot he had left behind at Bitterbridge with his young queen, his wagons, carts, draft animals, and all his cumbersome siege machinery, while Renly himself led his knights and freeriders in a swift dash east.
How like his brother Robert he was, even in that … only Robert had always had Eddard Stark to temper his boldness with caution. Ned would surely have prevailed upon Robert to bring up his whole force, to encircle Stannis and besiege the besiegers. That choice Renly had denied himself in his headlong rush to come to grips with his brother. He had outdistanced his supply lines, left food and forage days behind with all his wagons and mules and oxen. He must come to battle soon, or starve.

A Clash of Kings, Catelyn III

Ah, Catelyn, the ideal Westerosi wife and widow. She sees how horrible Renly’s battle plan is, thinks what a better plan would be, and does not think “that is what I would do” but “that is what my husband would do.” Catelyn is such a great character to give insight to how the patriarchy can so pervasively affect the mindset of woman in Westeros who does not rage against the system, but accepts her lot. Catelyn shows an understanding of military tactics, but since leading battles is not her place, even in her mind she attributes her battle plan to her deceased husband.

We are fortunate to have Cat as a POV, because in her head we can see her intellect and intuition, which often she silences because of her gender.
