Bentley has revealed the Bentayga Fly Fishing, a Mulliner special edition billed as the ultimate angling accessory.
The customized build centers around three modules: a master tackle station, refreshment case and wader-stowage trunk. Each is trimmed in premium saddle leather, with walnut burr veneer to further enhance the luxury appearance.
Anglers can store four reels in aluminum cases trimmed with linen and leather, while four tubes house the matching rods underneath the parcel shelf. The SUV ships with its own pair of landing nets in matching leather bags, stored in dedicated pockets on the side of the trunk.
If the trout are being picky, Mulliner designers have integrated a tying vice with tools and materials for creating custom flies to match the current insect hatch. A refreshment case provides three flasks for fine spirits to help steady the hand, and lunch can be accessed from a food storage compartment that doubles as extra seating.
When the owner is finally done casting for the day, waders and boots can be placed in a dedicated neoprene-lined trunk. A dehumidifier helps dry the trunk after it is filled with wet gear.
“Fly fishing is a sport that requires a variety of equipment and clothing, so it was essential to package the rods, reels, waders, boots and fly-tying station into the car in a luxurious, accessible and elegant way - and the end result is truly extraordinary,” said Mulliner director Geoff Dowding.
The company has not disclosed pricing details, though the Fly Fishing edition presumably fetches a significant premium over the basic Bentayga.
Craziest fish/fight I’ve had in a LONG time! I had just taken off my waders cuz of the heat and had decided to only bank fish. Then this tank hits and of course goes screamin’ through the tube. I had to throw my shoes off and wade out next to floating dead carp and dead ducks to get the right angle to pull him and a log jam back out from under the road. Then once I netted him he is the first fish I’ve ever had fully jump back out of the net and take off again! Luckily he was still hooked!

Scarlet ibis in flight near Pedernales, Amacuro Delta, Venezuela
Over a third of Venezuela’s surface area is made up of wetlands, the favorite habitat of the Scarlet Ibis. These waders live in large colonies in mangroves and only travel a few kilometers to feed. The feathers of the Scarlet Ibis are now used to make hand-crafted artificial flowers and souvenirs. This bird coveted for its feathers as much as for its meat is now threatened; there are only 200.000 of them left in Central America and South America.
