How to speak like a FCCing politician: Use their language, and they’ll listen

EDIT: Carr worked under Pai at Verison, and published this article. It’s likely he won’t change his mind. www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/opinions/no-the-fcc-is-not-killing-the-internet/2017/11/30/9205ac88-d457-11e7-a986-d0a9770d9a3e_story.html

FOCUS ON MIKE O'RILLEY!

I’ve already commented on one post, but I can’t with a clean conscience sit by without making my own.

I see so many posts about Net Neutrality, and while I think it’s tremendous how many of you are emailing the FCC, some of those emails aren’t going to change minds.

Some of you are emailing the chairman himself. Ajit Pai was a former Verison employee. It doesn’t matter how many emails you send to him. You could literally tell him that you depend on the Internet’s resources to live, and he would not bat an eye.

Many of you are putting in your emails that hospitals and schools will see troubles. I appreciate the effort, but when these men are the very same men who have already taken SO MUCH from hospitals and schools, will they?

What you NEED to do, is speak their language. That language is dollar signs. Make your voice sound like MONEY THEY WILL BE LOSING.

We live in a nation where restaurants are failing because no one can afford a $20 meal anymore. What makes the FCC think we can afford more than $60 Internet? E-commerce is essential to the US economy. If users are forced to go through paywall after paywall, they will STOP purchasing anything off the Internet. The nosedive in stocks will be the likes of nothing you’ve ever seen.

Without the freedom to choose which websites we visit, the internet, for many of you on Tumblr like me, will become virtually meaningless. Make THAT the message you spread to these two “Yes votes.” Tell them that if the Internet becomes just like cable TV, which none of us are able to afford, they will LOSE the few dollars we have.

They’ll be interested in hearing that.

These are the emails of the two FCC members voting “yes” on the repeal of NN. If anyone’s mind is going to be changed. It has to be one of these guys. And it has to be before December 14th.

Brendan.Carr@fcc.gov

Mike.O'Rielly@fcc.gov

If we speak their language, there may still be hope. Good luck, everyone.

Guys, I realise most of you are US based and don’t realise this, but the next General Election in the UK will decide what we as a country want out of our system.

We literally have the most left wing manifesto out of the labour party we’ve seen in years - they’re finally not just a centrist, almost policy for policy but slightly more left version of the tories.

However, right-wing media is attempting to destroy our left wing leader. They’re smearing him left, right and centre. Hopelessly trying to make him out to be an ‘incapable leader’, as though ANY of the leaders we’ve had in the past few decades were the most respectable of people.

Our right wing leader is essentially Cruella De Vil down to wanting to lift the ban on fox hunting.

Can we talk about this more as a site?

You all blogged for Trump vs Clinton. Now can we pay attention to the rise of the right wing else where? Our left wing is promising nationalisation, free education and taxing the rich to fill our gaps but people still want to vote Tory despite them looking to privatise our health care, rip it to shreds first by giving their friends jobs in management and toss our education system up in the air. All because 1) Not enough people are voting and 2) the right wing is playing dirty tricks.

What happens in our General Election decides how the UK interacts with Trump. Currently, Theresa is a loyal lap dog without a back bone to speak of. Be aware that politics in other countries exists.

Hunk and Pidge’s attempts to modify a battle bot to help out in the kitchen don’t exactly go to plan…

Net Neutrality Information/Update

Guys, there are only 5 days until the FCC votes. The FCC vote on December 14th IS NOT THE DEATH DAY FOR NET NEUTRALITY!

The FCC votes then whether they will send their proposition/bill to Repeal Net Neutrality to Congress/The Senate for them to vote on.

The FCC CANNOT PASS/MAKE LAWS. The reason we email the FCC members was for making them vote to save Net Neutrality and vote against the repeal of it.

If enough members of the FCC vote against the proposition to repeal Net Neutrality, then it will not go up to The Senate/Congress to be officially voted on.

Important Information on USA Government:

•In America, The Legislative Branch is made up of Congress.

•The two main law making/passing parts of Congress are The Senate and The House Of Representatives.

•The FCC is not apart of Congress, therefore they cannot make/pass laws.

•There are 435 members in The House Of Representatives.

•There are 100 members in The Senate.

The Senate is considered to be higher up than The House Of Representatives.

•According to some articles and informative post I’ve found, 250/435 members in The House Of Representatives have been said to have been “bought out”. This means big business companies that want the repeal of Net Neutrality paid them money to vote for the repeal. ((Information like this for The Senate is unknown, but if I find out I’ll update this post/make another post))

((More information follows in smaller text, do not skip please!))

This is why the importance of calling and emailing both sections of Congress ((The House Of Representatives and The Senate)) is CRUCIAL TO SAVE NET NEUTRALITY!!!

We have to try and persuade our Representatives in The Senate and The House Of Representatives to be on our side if we want to save Net Neutrality!!!

Sad and Unnerving Realizations:

•America’s government mainly ignores it’s people and our opinions.

•Big Business and Money is clearly more important to most people in power in our government.

•Net Neutrality gives people freedom online, it lets users express themselves freely online, whether they are looking for help, finding friends, looking for a relationship, raising money, or creating a small business.

•Freedom is a natural right, not a privilage given at expense.

•Most users online, which is mainly social media, are to young are to poor to pay fees just so the website/video/specific web page on a website will load.

•Suicide rates will rise for those who loose contact with friends and lovers who they communicate with online. They will loose contact with people who can save them if they don’t have anyone in real life to turn to. That includes people in other countries around the world who loose contact to those in America.

•Fandoms (not all) can/will die out and loose their voices.

•It will be harder to share opinions, art work, OC’s, Ships, and OTP’s with others in your fandoms.

How you can help in America:

•Peaceful Protesting.

•Emailing your Representatives and Senators.

•Calling your Representatives and Senators.

•Sign Petitions.

•Spread the word online and in real life with friends, family, and followers.

•Translate this post and other information for those who don’t speak english.

How you can help outside America:

•Most online petitions allow people online from various parts of the world to sign them.

•Spreading the word online and in real life to friends, family, and followers.

•Translate this post and other information for those who can’t speak english.

What NOT to do:

•Send Threats

•Be Rude

•Panic

•Use improper grammer/spelling/text talk/abbreviations

•Contact Representatives/Senate without knowing facts, having supportive details, or doing research

•Do nothing to help

Some Relieving Information:

•December 14th is NOT the death day of Net Neutrality!

•We still have time to save it! The FCC just votes on officially presenting the proposition to repeal Net Neutrality to Congress on that date.

•We will still have Net Neutrality for Christmas.

•If we have a majority votes against the repeal in the FCC/House Of Representatives/Senate we will save it.

•We have the ability to boycott companies/ISP’s who cause problems if the repeal passes.

•There’s always a chance/hope for reviving it in the future, we are the generation that wants it safe. We can bring it back if we loose it even if it takes a long time.

•We can still be able to text message through phone numbers/emails and communicate through online games and servers ((not websites, downloadables like overwatch, minecraft, etc.)).

•Apps will probably be left alone since they aren’t websites and therefore have different rules

•It lets ISP’s/Companies/websites CHOOSE to cause certain places to go to the slow lane, some may not change if they like how things are now.

•Less people online means they make less money instead of more like they want too.

•WE STILL HAVE TIME TO SAVE IT!!!

If there are any questions, got incorrect/old information, or if I missed anything PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

My inbox is always open, anonymous questions are on, and tagging me/others in any post you think are useful I will see and reblog.

I hope this helped, the importance of spreading the word and speaking out is crucial. Your voice matters! All our voices matter!

Please reblog this information despite what your blog is or where you live. TRANSLATING IT AND SPREADING THIS TO NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING FOLLOWERS HELPS TOO!!!

sometimes i worry how quickly it seems to be fading from public consciousness that the american people didn’t actually choose donald trump

he lost the popular vote

HE LOST THE POPULAR VOTE

by kind of a lot

it still matters that all those people out there DID vote for them, it still matters that our electoral system is so fucked and so undemocratic as to elect him anyways, but i feel it’s really important we remember that the majority of americans chose hilary clinton and not donald trump

for a lot of reasons, we need to not let it fade out of public top-of-mind knowledge that donald trump was not the choice of the american people

The racist, sexist, islamophobic, nationalistic, anti-semitic shitbag nazi party just became the third strongest party in the German parliament.

Well fucking done Germany. Well done. Not even a hundred years have passed since World War 2 and ya’ll went ahead and elected nazis into our parliament. Thanks to the millions of people who voted for them and the millions of people who didn’t bother to vote at all, thanks for nothing.

Everyone please listen up

Net Neutrality has been in debate since June, and now it’s back to being one of the main topics. But what happened to it trending #1? “Verizon, is that you. Did you get a bit angry about the fact that there are individuals willing to fight for their rights?”

For all of you who don’t know, Net Neutrality is basically the freedom of the internet. Without it, large companies would be allowed to charge extra for things like using Google, watching Youtube, using Amazon, going on other websites, etc. However, there are 5 individuals who are in charge of deciding what happens to this freedom and they are voting. Only 2 of them want to keep it. We literally need 1 more person to save Net Neutrality.

Guys, if you don’t care, then I’ll give you a reason. Are you in a fandom? Do you connect with people from the U.S and other countries thanks to this fandom? Have you made friends with any of them? Do you like reading, watching, writing, or drawing fan art, or fanfics? Ok, if you answers yes to any of these then let me ask you one more thing. Are you willing to pay extra money, that you wouldn’t before, just to stay connected with your fandom? Remember, if you don’t pay you lose all of this. What if you can’t afford this extra cost? What then? Do you simply say goodbye to your fandom, your friends, your passion?

For some of us in fandoms, these people are the only thing we have. We help each other even if we are halfway across the world. I have seen what we can do. But when you have something like Net Neutrality gone, these individuals, books, art, etc., that you were once connected to won’t be there. “But for the cost of an extra $10.99 we can include Google to your monthly plan.”

Is this what you want your future to be like?

Honestly?

The FCC is going to vote to overturn Net Neutrality.

Keep calling. Keep trying.

But be braced for that to fail.

Ajit Pai doesn’t care what the people have to say about this.

But.

Congress is going to be the group that pays for this when it happens.

We’ll all know Ajit Pai’s name, and we’ll curse him when we hear it, but it’s Congress that holds all our hopes right now.

They’re the ones that will be voted out of office for not voting for a bill to restore net neutrality. They’re the ones that will have to answer to constituents. They’re the ones that both have the ability and the possibility of doing something to counteract the vote by the FCC.

So.

Call the FCC, leave comments, attend protests – all of that is good.

But call your Congressional reps. Call your senators. Call your governors. Let them know that you’re watching, and that you expect them to step up if the FCC decides to do this.

And on December 14th, after the FCC votes, call them all again, and ask what they’re going to do now.

You know what I love about fanfiction writers? Their fucking amazing headcanons of their otps having jobs. Like Person A could be a doctor, or a politician, an artist, a soldier and Person B could be a CEO, or a lawyer, a chef, or ANYTHING. Or your OTP could be co-workers. And the best part? The writer being detailed with what the characters do. Like Doctor!Person A knows the shit that they do. Medicine names and lame chemistry pick up lines all over the place, specific time for surgeries and wearing kahki scrubs. And Politician!Person B goes all stoic and confident, presents argumentative valid points and FUCKING POLITICAL STATEMENTS (I LOVE IT), and strategies on how to win the elections (and it makes me think, “if this is irl, i would vote for them 100%). With all those approriately-used-words for their profession, I get EDUCATED. I LEARN SHIT (in a great way). The stories make me feel as if I work with them.

This is why I give so much respect to fanfiction writers. I love you guys so much. YOU GIVE ME LIFE.

okay @ all of france i really really REALLY need you to go vote in the second round, PLEASE.

if you don’t want le pen to win, vote for macron. it’s that easy.

no “she’ll never win anyway”. that’s how brexit happened.

no “but he’s not great either”, that’s how trump got elected.

no “I’m abstaining because i want to send a message”, that’s just plain stupid and i hope i don’t have to explain why oh my god. PLEASE.

If Le Pen wins, the EU is finished. Yes I’m german and I’m openly admitting that without France, we can’t do it.
If she manages to win the election she’ll also be able to get France to leave the EU, and that will be a desaster for everyone involved.
Look up how absolutely fantastic the Brexit negotiations are going if you’re still on the fence about that.

It’s a very similar situation to the one the US was in last year.
One
“ugh a boring politician they’re not exciting and has ties to the big banks and voting for them won’t change anything god i hate the system”
candidate
versus one
oh look a charismatic fascist who will probably literally kill us all and throw the country, if not the continent, into utter chaos” candidate.

please think twice before you say it’s a choice between two evils. it’s not pest oder cholera, at the very worst it’s a stubbed toe versus lung cancer, and the lung cancer’s best chances lie in people not voting at all.

An Astrologer’s Take on BTS’ Success

first off: transit jupiter in the 10th house come through!! jupiter is an outer planet that stays in a sign/house for about a year, which matches the timeline of bts’ global explosion since the beginning of 2017.

jupiter rules luck, the 10th house rules our career and public recognition. jupiter in the 10th house transits bring a period of great success in the career: increased recognition, a boosted image in the public eye, popularity, opportunities being presented, goals being reached, financial prosperity, and more. jupiter also rules travel, so career opportunities overseas are very likely.

from the bbmas, domination of korean and global charts and social media, the amas, and now their success at the mama awards (all in one year!), this transit could not be working out more beautifully for the boys.

but what i draw the most from bts’ success is how their group and its journey defines one planet: saturn. saturn is a planet that strikes fear in seasoned astrologers and beginners alike. it’s thought that wherever saturn goes, depression, hardships, and failure follow. and while this is often true, many people forget one essential part of saturn and its influence: triumph.

bts embodies this lesson perfectly. let’s look at the chart for the group. with infamous saturn in their 10th house (the career), anyone would have written them off, and many did. “they’re doomed. they will fail.” and it’s true: for many years, bts struggled with saturn and its punishing affects. barely managing to debut from a small company, living in a cramped dorm where they slept all in one room, being rejected and treated as stand in idols by broadcasts, wondering if they’d ever reach their dreams…

saturn is mean, but it isn’t cruel. it doesn’t present challenges to those who are incapable of handling them. saturn is determination, resilience, sheer will. bts channeled those energies and pushed through. and guess what? they reached saturn’s final stage and gift to those who learn from their trials instead giving up: success. don’t let saturn paralyze you with fear. do as bts did: persevere, grow, fight, and win.
