voodoo flags

Thanks to @othmeralia we learned that today is Appreciate a Dragon Day and we couldn’t resist sharing one of our favorite dragon themed artifacts!  This is a Voodoo flag featuring a winged dragon that was originally designed by Haitian artist Ti Jean, but elaborately beaded and interpreted by Haitian flag artist Roudy Azor.  Voodoo flags are traditionally the work of practicing priests and their followers.  The flags are displayed in Voodoo sanctuaries and are carried at the beginning of ceremonies.
