Ok so I made this request at another blog but then I found ur blog and I love ur writing so much im just like screw it I'll request it here too!! I was thinking, there are obviously other paranormal investigators in the us, & after the NYC incident, I bet a lot of them would totally flock there & thus a rival ghostbusting group is born & naturally holtz totally falls for one of them & it turns into a gay ghostbusting Romeo and Juliet minus all the death

A/N: I was honestly so excited to write this! This was the long imagine I was talking about. Obviously, I tried to cut it down a little bit. Extra credit to anyone who can figure out where I got the names of the girls in the reader’s group from. Speaking of the reader’s group, I honestly cringed so hard when I came up with the name of the opposing group. I hope you enjoy! 😂

You would forever remember where you were when you first heard about the ghost incident in New York. You were serving coffee to one of the policeman in your town’s local diner and just trying to make it to the end of your shift. You had just brought the pot over to the table when he pointed to the television.

“Somebody turn the volume up!” He requested and stood from his seat.

You lowered the pot to the table and knitted your brow in confusion. The rest of the diner had fallen silent at the officer’s outburst and turned their attention towards the bulky tv in the corner. The waitress behind the counter raised the volume.

Your eyes went wide at what was being shown. Class III and IV vapors were all over what looked to be New York City.

It had only been a week or so since this event happened. It was surreal to say the least. You and your three other friends had always believed in the paranormal. Actually, you had been devoting your spare time to try and prove any type of existence. You even called yourself the ParaHunters.

Upon seeing the amount of activity in New York City, your group decided to move your investigation there. It was difficult to explain to your families, seeing as they had somehow missed the entire near-apocolypse.

The four of you were pretty low on cash so the only place you could afford was above a Chinese restaraunt. Everyone was quick to settle in, despite the odd looks you kept received from the restaraunt owners. You almost instantaneously reserved the large table for your inventions.

When you weren’t working on your own version of the proton pack- which were unfortunately pretty bulky -you were hanging flyers around the city. You doubted the group would get many calls. Especially since the Ghostbusters were already so popular. However, one day the phone rang.

The group’s main leader, Lexa, was the one who answered. She nodded her head and seemed to try and console whomever was on the opposite end. When she hung up, a grin etched its way across her lips.

“Gear up, ParaHunters!” She exclaimed brightly and fist pumped the air.

You couldn’t believe it. This would be your first time ever encountering an actual ghost! You were so giddy that you could barely pull on you uniform and proton pack. You followed everyone outside and climbed inside a rented van.

Once you arrived at the location, you eagerly exited the van. Apparently, a ghost was haunting a large factory building. Your group wordlessly approached the woman who stood just outside the doors.

“Oh thank goodness, I thought you could help the others,” The woman breathed in relief upon seeing your group.

Others? What did she mean by that?

“Please get rid of the … the thing! I last saw it in the break room,” She explained and fidgeted with her hands.

“It was just, uhm, standing there and I thought it was an employee. But he turned around and half of his fave was gone! Gone! It screamed and- well, maybe it was me that screamed but-” She rambled as her face grew visibly paler.

“We’ll get rid of it, ma'am. Don’t worry about a thing,” Lexa announced and offered a reassuring smile before leading you and the other two members inside.

You rolled your shoulders back as the four of you trekked forwards in search of the break room. There were a few people here and there, but they were too busy working to even take notice of the four unknown girls. You held out a hand to halt everyone after you spotted the break room.

From inside, you could hear shouts. You gave a nod before barging into the room and taking out your proton gun. Everyone already in the room halted and turned to your group in surprise. The Ghostbusters.

“Holy crap!” Lexa exclaimed as she spotted the apparition.

You took that as your cue and sent a stream flying towards the ghost. It obviously didn’t want to be captured, though. It violently struggled which almost caused you to lose your grip. Lexa immediately came to your aid.

But of course, that was when your packs suddenly malfunctioned and ceased working. The other group attempted to fire at the ghost but your sudden hitch had given it just enough time to escape. You watched in dismay as it disappeared out the window.

“Great, now it’s gone!” Patty sighed and shoved her gun back into its holster.

“Who are you guys anyways?” Abby demanded.

Lexa stepped forward with her arms crossed. You already didn’t like the looks of this.

“I’m Lexa. This is (y/n), Clarke, and Raven.” She cocked an eyebrow at the Ghostbusters. “We’re the ParaHunters.”

“Well, you just caused a ghost to get away ParaHunters.” Abby bit back.

“This was supposed to be our bust,” Clarke stepped in and shook her head.

“Then why did the lady call us?” Patty retorted.

“I guess she thought we’d need a little back-up,” You shrugged, not meaning for it to sound nasty at all.

Unfortunately, that’s not how it was taken.

“Okay ‘ParaHunters’,” Abby started and added air quotes around your group’s name. “If we’re the backup then I guess we can leave you to track this ghost down and apologize to the woman who called us.”

You stared back at them blankly. Lexa scoffed and turned away from them. She rolled her eyes and stepped past you.

“Let’s go girls, we don’t need to waste our time. The ghost isn’t here anymore and we have work to do.” She said harshly.

It was obvious that the ParaHunters and the Ghostbusters would not be joining forces any time soon.

It was a few days later when you were in the ParaHunters HQ alone. You were trying to fix the problems with the proton packs. However, you just couldn’t get the confrontation with the Ghostbusters out of your mind.

That was how you ended up at the doors of the infamous firehouse. You chewed on your bottom lip out of nervousness. It was gravely obvious that you and your group were not liked by the other women. And according to Lexa, the feeling was mutual.

You knocked on the door and swallowed thickly. It was so long before the door opened that you had considered just leaving. You anxiously waved at the blonde who answered the door, Holtzmann.

“Well, well, well, look what we have here,” She cooed and leaned up against the doorway.

This confused you. The way she said it wasn’t at all hateful or condescending. In fact, it was almost … playful?

“Hi, I was wondering if I could talk to you guys?” You explained your reason for being there.

“I’m the only one here right now, but you can still come in and talk to me.” She stepped back from the door to let you in.

You followed her up the stairs to what you assumed was her workspace. Your eyes widened with delight when you saw all of the machinery on the tables. It was like being a kid in a candy shop.

“Oh wow, this is amazing,” You breathed as you picked up what looked like a miniature woodchipper.

“I know, I made it myself,” Holtzmann leaned against the table and looked down at the weapon.

“What did you want to talk about?” She asked, reminding you of why you were here.

You put the weapon back on the table and cleared your throat. You had wanted to apologize for the way your group had acted a few days ago. Even so, you knew you couldn’t actually do that. You could only apologize for your comment.

“I just wanted to say that I’m sorry for insinuating that you guys were backup,” You began and toyed with your thumbs.

“I honestly didn’t mean it in a derogatory way. It just kind of came out that way,” You sighed, shaking your head.

“I know,” Holtzmann replied.

“And I know that I sh-” Your head jerked up as you actualy processed what she had said. “What?”

“I know you didn’t actually mean it to be hurtful.” She repeated.

You were silent after that. Honestly, you had planned an entire speech because you were so sure that the other women would assume the worst of you.

“You’re fine with me,” She laughed and walked around to the opposite side of the table.

“What’s your name, by the way?” She casually questioned and began tinkering on something.

“I’m (y/n),” You stated, still a little caught off-guard.

“Well, (y/n), do you want to help me with this? I’m trying to make a proton shotgun,” She asked and grinned over at you.

You stood still for a minute before smiling and going over to her side. She handed you two pieces of pipe and asked if you could weld them together for her. You happily obliged.

Over the course of two months, Holtzmann invited you over whenever she was the only one at the firehouse. Your group never grew suspicious since you told them you were going to search for supplies. To help keep this charade up, Holtzmann would give you a few spare parts to take back to the Chinese restaraunt.

You looked forward to your time with Holtzmann. You were always able to let loose and obsess over engineering with her. She even taught you how to dance with blow torches in both hands, albeit a little hazardously.

If by chance the two groups collided on a bust, you stayed silent. As did Jillian. This didn’t happen often but when it did, you both decided to just stay out of it.

As your friendship with the engineer grew, so did your feelings for her. You knew it would never work out, but you just couldn’t help it. Her quirky ways just drew you in. And the fact that she was always shamelessly flirting definitely did not help.

Currently, you were cleaning off a hose that Jillian had found in the dumpster. She wasn’t quite sure how she would use it but you knew she would figure something out. The blonde was across the room choosing a song to play.

You smiled and glanced up once Give It Up by KC & The Sunshine Band started playing. Holtzmann dramtically spun around on her heel and began to dance towards you. She started lipsyncing the words as she did so. You laughed at her ridiculous movements, the hose already forgotten about.

You joined her and took her outstretched hand. You tried to copy her dancing but could barely do so because of how much you were laughing. Her hair bounched as she bobbed her head and started actually singing.

“I’d just like to make you mine, oh mine,” She sang and caused your cheeks to heat up.

She started moving closer, her smile growing in size.

“Baby, give it up.” She sang but you could barely focus seeing as how your thighs bumped into the edge of the table.

She moved forwards until she was only a few inches away from you. You stared back at her and tried to calm yourself as her eyes flicked down to your lips. She hesitantly raised a hand to your cheek, almost as if asking for permission.

When you didn’t pull away, she leaned even closer until there was no more distance to close. It took a second for you to register that she was actually kissing you and that this wasn’t just another daydream before you kissed her back.

“I’ve been trying to find the perfect way to do this for days,” She admitted after she pulled away.

You scoffed and playfully shoved at her shoulder. Jillian only laughed. She stepped away and instead moved beside you to pick up where she had left off on her latest project.

The ParaHunters and the Ghostbusters didn’t get along at all, that was obvious to Holtzmann and you. Although, there was something even more obvious to you and her than that. There was no way you two would be able to stay away from each other now.

The Violets in the Mountains Have Broken the Rocks Vol. II (Pearlet)-Charlotte

Matt still loves poetry, Brian and Brian, marijuana (a little too much) and a long-haired gender-queer artist who may or may not exist

Or where Matt is a bartender who spends too much time arguing with himself about a disappearing poet

or where Matt can’t tell if Jason is real, or just a mirage in his lonely imagination. Either way, they are driving Dear Matthew mad

wc: like 6000 words m8 its loong

t/w: drug use, alcohol, elements of BDSM, some talk of suicide, violence, and abuse. And way too much talking about Jason Dardo’s hair

a/n: THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK! and don’t worry, i have a volume III ans IV coming up soon…
