Localized Yuri VNs In 2015

So this year has been pretty damn awesome when it comes to announcing localized versions of Japanese visual novels about gay lesbians being homosexual together. I figured I would compile a list of the ones I know of for those that might have missed them!

A Kiss For The Petals - Remember How We Met
aka. Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o - Deatta Koro no Omoide ni

SonoHana is arguably the most famous yuri visual novel series there is, and the latest release was as recently as this year. At AnimeExpo, MangaGamer announced that they would be bringing the game to PC platforms in the west. The original game was released exclusively on mobile platforms in Japan.

Rating: 15+ - Release: TBA - Official Website

Atom Grrrl!!

Sekai Project announced out of nowhere on their twitter feed that they’d be releasing Cosmillica’s indie developed Tarantino inspired yuri visual novel Atom Grrrl!! in the west. The game is from a small doujin circle that only produces yuri visual novels with a hope to differentiate themselves from normal yuri tropes.

Rating: 18+ - Release: Fall 2015 - Official Trailer

Another game from Cosmillica. This being their first release, telling the tale of two shunamites (virgin girls sleeping alongside men to ‘preserve their youth’ who fall in love with each other in victorian era France. The game was released in French and English at Japan Expo 2015. Digital release is coming with an improved English translation.

Rating: 18+ - Release: July 7th 2015 - Official Website

Flowers - Le volume sur printemps -

Flowers is something as rare as a big budget yuri visual novel releasing on both PC and handheld consoles. Split into fourth arcs, the first game launched last year on PC, PSP and PS Vita. This year, JAST USA announced that they are bringing the PC version to the west.

Rating: All Ages - Release: Fall 2015 - Official Website

Kindred Spirits on the Roof
aka. Okujou no Yurirei-san

MangaGamer surprised everyone again this year when they announced that they were planning on releasing Kindred Spirits on the Roof, an erotic yuri visual novel about girls and ghost girls. The tagline for this game is “Let’s Make A Yuritopia” which I think we can all agree to.

Rating: 18+ - Release: TBA - Official Website

Nenokami: The Two Princess Knights of Kyoto
aka. Ne no Kami - Kyou no Miyako to Futari no Hime Kishi

Sekai Project announced at Otakon that they’d be bringing Ne no Kami to the west. A fantasy yuri visual novel that comes in both an all ages and 18+ erotic release, which version that will launch in the west is not yet known.

Rating: 18+ - Release: TBA - Official Trailer

Sacrament Sheep
aka. Sacrament no Juunikyuu Midareru Kohitsuji to Tenazuku Ookami

Another surprise announcement by Sekai Project. Announced earlier this year, Sacrament Sheep will be releasing in the west and is currently undergoing beta testing. It’s a neat game in which you can switch perspectives at all times to read the thoughts of the other half of the main couple.

Rating: 18+ - Release: TBA - Official Trailer

The Shadow of Pygmalion
aka. Negai no Kakera to Hakugin no Agreement

Originally released in 2013, Pygmalion is a contemporary fantasy action visual novel dealing with supernatural abilities, secret conspiracies and a couple of very gay leading ladies. I originally missed this in my write-up despite it being part of MangaGamer’s Otakon portfolio. Thank you to those who pointed it out.

Rating: 15+ - Release: TBA - Official Website

I don’t think I missed any game here, but if I did, please let me know and I’ll add it to the list! I hope everyone shows support for these games when they come out so we get a chance to actually get more of these, because we have never had this much yuri on offer. At best we’ve had one or two really bad eroge that had one or two yuri scenes among mainly other scenes.

Update - 04/08/2015:
I’ve added The Shadow of Pygmalion to the list.

Hello everyone! The time is almost here. In a few hours, I will hit that publish button, and Cursed Sight will at last be launched onto Steam. By the time you read this, the game might already be out:

I don’t recall being this nervous with my previous game launches. It makes sense, I guess. More money spent than ever. More words thrown in than ever before (not to say quantity means quality, far, far from it). Probably with the most number of hours clocked in, too.

You know, I need to fess up about something. Cursed Sight went through a good 5-6 rounds of editing, and I stared at every word vigorously during the final pass. Yet, last week, someone raised that I have a missing quotation mark in the first screenshot. That broke my heart into pieces.

Actually, the issue was already fixed in the game, but I have neglected to update the image. Once the game launches, I bet players might spot a few more oversights. When it happens, I will embrace all of them. I am hitting this release button without any regrets. Perhaps I should have kept quiet about this for good PR or something, but let’s keep things real around here.

Thank you! I hope you will consider checking out Cursed Sight :).

A big thanks to everyone who has tried the first demo of Hocus Pocus Prince and shared your thoughts! We’ve been wowed by the support for the game so far, and everyone’s feedback has been extremely helpful.

If you haven’t tried the demo yet, you can download it here.

Some updates and clarifications

  • Some of you have noticed that the first demo ends before the curse is revealed. This is because we are planning to hold a contest for people to guess the cursed forms of each boy (and win free copies of their route). Please look forward to the start of the contest next week!
  • A second demo that previews the first chapter of each route (and reveals all the cursed forms) will be released sometime after the contest.
  • Based on the feedback we’ve received so far, it looks like we will release each route separately (for mobile and maybe also PC), and then also compile all routes into a full game (for PC only?).
  • The route release order will most likely be Vincent, Orion, then Ace. These routes are completely unique, standalone stories that you can play in any order you like.
  • If these first three routes do well, there are several more routes we are considering adding (including a GxG route).

As always, we love hearing from you guys, so continue to let us know what you think about the demo/updates, and if you have any questions or suggestions for us!

Check out this thing I did as a commission for melizbeauty! It’s an audiobook recording of a fan-written short story that closes out the Jiwoo route in the visual novel Dandelion: Wishes Brought to You!

I honestly had little idea what it was for until the video was finished and I have to say I really enjoy how it turned out. Meli voiced Heejung’s (the lady voice) narration and dialogue while I did Jiwoo’s. I want to thank her for this unexpected welcome into the Dandelion fandom and for the fun I had while recording!

The penultimate episode of our Magical Warrior Diamond Heart demo series!

About Project Fates

You, the protagonist, are able to choose your name and pronouns (He, She, They). This story will feature trans, non binary, bisexual, and other types of characters. You are able to romance many (if not all) of the characters through out the adventure. This will be a game of happiness, adventure, comedy, but will also have serious and sad parts. This is a game of trust, you depend on your friends to lead you to your goal. Unlike a lot of protagonists in these types of games, your protagonist will not be a silent one and will be very much be involved with the story.

This blog will show the progress of the game.

More Because We’re Here fanart!! Incredible! heidengames’ rendition of Pvt. Marius Sauer, complete with, er, ‘spirit animal‘! Thanks so much. And hopefully these pieces of fanart that’ve been coming in’ll set quite the precedent :D

Tusks: The Orc Dating Sim by Mitch Alexander
GAY ORCS available in YOUR AREA.

The First Day Preview of Tusks: The Orc Dating Sim is now available for you to download and play for free via by clicking this link:! Begin your journey north through a semi-mythical Scotland with a ragtag band of gay orcs in this new visual novel!

What’s in this version of Tusks?

This “Day One Preview” is the first ever playable version of Tusks! This version has all the content for Day One of the story (the final version will have 14 days). There’s a lot of stuff you won’t be able to see for a while - but there’s plenty for you to check out in this version!

  • A 15-minute playthrough of the first day of Tusks - with far more to see over multiple playthroughs and decision branches.
  • Over 21,000 words of dialogue, story, interaction and narrative, spread across multiple different routes, exclusive scenes and interactions so you can replay, or simply have a more personalised journey through the game.
  • Randomised in-game Scottish-orc-name-generator for your main character!
  • Eight main characters to interact with, including a selkie farmer, a very eager human, five very different orcish men, and a boar who does it all for the ~*aesthetic*~.
  • An NPC autonomy feature, where other characters can make their own decisions and vote on decisions for the group (in this preview, your orcish clan’s name)!

In this preview, there are only brief snippets of adult/NSFW content in text form, mostly from Sithig speaking out loud without really thinking.

If you find any bugs or glitches in this version of the game - or things I’ve missed, such as the interface being difficult for colorblind folk to use, please send me an ask or email me (mitch [at] hyparc [dot] net) with as much detail as you can! (Messages of support are also 100% appreciated x)

Help fund Tusks and subsequent projects via Patreon!

It’s taken me a long time to get just this early version of the game out there - and that’s because I’m also doing freelance work here and there so I can pay my rent. If you like what you’ve seen of Tusks, though - or you’ve seen my other games, or my gaymer journalism work at - you can help me devote my time to the things that really matter - like making gay orcs kiss and interviewing people about their love for monsters.

I’ve set up a Patreon account at so that I can keep going with Tusks, as well as my other weirdo queerdo game design and writing which, until now, I’ve largely been doing unpaid. With your help, I can devote more time to working on Tusks and similar projects, so that they arrive sooner and to a higher quality - and eventually, I’ll be introducing rewards and exclusive content for Patrons!

What’s next for Tusks?

The next version of the game I’ll be providing is the First Three Days preview. As you can guess, you’ll get access to the first three days of the 14-day journey, meaning you get to spend much more time with the boys of Tusks. As before, I can only say that the First Three Days preview will only be ready when it’s ready. I’ll announce it first over on Patreon, and you’ll also be able to find out later here on Tumblr, too!

New License: Umineko - When They Cry Steam Version!

Our next major announcement is Umineko When They Cry from 07th Expansion, creators of Higurashi When They Cry!

In Umineko, the player will join Battler, a scion of the wealthy Ushiromiya family, as he attends their annual reunion on the island of Rokkenjima for the first time in six years. However, that night, a disaster falls upon the Ushiromiya family, and they all begin to fear for their very lives. Battler’s cousin Maria believes the golden witch Beatrice has returned and committed murder through magic, but Battler doesn’t believe in such a fantasy. Still, could anyone in his family really have killed their own kin for the sake of riches? You know both the situation leading up to the incident and its tragic result, but the course of events is an enigma, and no one willing to share the whole truth. What really happened on Rokkenjima that night?

Fans of Higurashi will already be familiar with Umineko’s unique manner of storytelling—over the span of eight different chapters the player will experience several different ways in which events of the murder may have played out. None are certain. All bear truth. Will you be able to piece together the real story of what happened that day by the climactic finale? Accompanied by a soundtrack worthy to deem this prose a ‘sound novel’ just by itself, this enticing tale is a must-read for anyone who enjoys thinking outside the box.

We’ll be working with the team at Witch Hunt to update the translation for Umineko alongside this new, official release on our platform and Steam. We’ll also be including new character artwork for this upcoming release! We plan to follow R07’s episodic release system with Umineko in order to to make it accessible with the new art as soon as possible, just as we have for Higurashi.
