Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff about how “Viola is the woman One Piece needed” and “wow finally strong women” “Oda better not screw this up haha”
LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FCK. VIOLA IS AWESOME BUT SERIOUSLY SHALL WE GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BEGINNING ALL RIGHT LETS GO.
She may not be a fighter but this chick has guts. She has like this unconditional inner beauty and stands by her friends.
She also runs A BAR. Attracting attention of PIRATES AND BANDITS. You’ve gotta have guts to at least do that.
Then she breaks up a fight between Dadan and Garp after Ace’s death. LIKE DUDE. This is an awesome woman.
Nami usually is our fanservice babe. But I don’t give a crap. It suits her. Its who she is. She’s beautiful and brave and full of confidence.
SHE HELD THE WEIGHT OF HER VILLAGE SINCE SHE WAS A CHILD. She dealt with Arlong and being mistreated for so long. She knew that she wasn’t physically strong to go up against him so she used her intellect to try and win.
It takes a lot of guts to ask for help when you loose. Nami asking Luffy for help was not weakness. It was smart and brave and strong to take the leap and go against the man who had oppressed her.
She’s ALSO the sole person who keeps the Strawhats going in the right direction. Navigation is probably the most important job out on the sea…And this girl is talented. Like wow.
Just because she is physically weak doesnt mean she isn’t strong inside her heart. And just because she’s sexy DOESNT mean she isn’t confident and smart and caring.
This lady defied death on the battlefield to take care of two orphan girls. First thing she did was pin down Arlong and try to arrest him. Like wow, guts.
But as a lot of battles go in One Piece she lost…and bravely sacrificed her life out of love for her two daughters.
PRINCESS VIVI IS JUST…OKAY…
HOW MANY OF YOU ACTUALLY KNOW HER DEBUT AGE.
Which means…when she went an infiltrates Baroque Works…She was FOURTEEN YEARS OLD. FOURTEEN AND ALREADY SHOULDERING HER COUNTRY.
AND THEN AT AGE SIXTEEN SHE TRIED TO SINGLEHANDEDLY STOP A REBELLION, SAVE A MILLION LIVES, AND GO UP AGAINST A SHICHIBUKAI. LIKE DAMN GURL.
THEN…she stays with her country EVEN THOUGH she could have gone with the strawhats.
This girl is just amazing. Wow.
Yeah. This woman is cool. She’s going up against what most of the swordsmen think–women cannot be the best.
Yet she wants to be the best. She believes in equality. She believes women can be as strong as men and can be whatever they want (which freaks the hell out of Zoro and his Kuina memories lolll). She also is a high ranking Marine with the respect of her subordinates. She also doesn’t give up…to the point of tears at her failure. Smoker respects her too (even though he was kind of a jerk on Punk Hazard).
Although she lived her life basically in depression, she is an inspiration that you really CAN live your life and things DO get better. Since age eight she has been chased by marines and called nothing but a devil not allowed to live. Yet she trudged on and ran. She ran and ran until she couldn’t anymore…And found her family.
Even though she’s sexy she is beautiful and smart and is pretty much the mom of the ship. She is always looking out for the crew and has wisdom about the world, example her mistrust of Trafalgar Law.
And her powers and pretty dang awesome…
Queen of an Island of Warrior Women. Shichibukai. CONQUERORS HAKI. Former slave. Very innocent and full of herself but whatever. She cares for her people and is a good leader. AND she can basically flatten anyone Luffy has fought and beaten so far so…yeah.
And looks totally fabulous while doing it.
Slavegirl who won the hearts of the fishmen, human who knows fishman karate, Revolutionary, and partner of Sabo.
Okay first, it’s admirable that she hasnt had a heart attack dealing with one of the ASL bros…even if it IS the “calm” one. Second, she is kickass in fishman karate and can fight and all this epic stuff. And she knows what it’s like to be a slave and she fought through that and got stronger.
AAAAND NOT TO MENTION:
Kureha, epic old awesome doctor lady who taught chopper all he knew…
Hina, high ranking Marine who doesn’t take your crap and looks fabulous.
Jewlrey Bonney, one of the Supernovae (even if not much is known about her yet)
Queen Otohime, one of the only mermaids/fishmen brave enough to love humans.
Pretty much all the Amazon women
Portgas D Rouge, was the most hated man’s lover, dealt with being pregnant for like ever, gave her life for her son, loved and supported her King and Prince.
Big Mom, ON PAR WITH MOTHERFUDGING SHANKS
So yeah, Viola and Rebecca are pretty admirable characters but really…One Piece is FULL of admirable women, probably ones I haven’t listed.
And remember, the Grandline is a tough place to be, folks. Just BEING there is bravery.
Also, having muscles or cool powers doesn’t make you strong. Its going against the grain or standing up for what you believe in against the odds, no matter what your gender.
Guys, I know soup isn’t the most photogenic of foods (especially in my brown crock pot from 1973), but try this recipe.
In honor of fall I brought back a family recipe for soup but vegetarian/veganized it buy subbing in beans for the meat. It’s super easy and also super cheap but it’ll keep you full and best of all it tastes great.
All you do: soak a bag of beans overnight. I used a 16 bean soup mix, but use whatever you’d like, the next day plop the beans in a crock pot, cut two sweet potatoes into chunks, and add one container of vegetable stock and one small can of tomato paste. Mix it all up and cook for about 3 hours on low. Next add a bag of frozen corn (mine had other goodies like peppers in it too) and half an onion chopped. I seasoned with garlic salt to taste and chipotle hot sauce for a kick. Cook for another 3-4 hours on low and viola, awesome soup.
In case you’re curious that made me 8 servings that I divided up into Tupperware for the week. If calorie counting is your thing, each serving is less than 250 calories but it keeps me full for sure.
Q.What did you and Taraji P. Henson, a fellow nominee in the drama category, say to each other when you won?
A. First of all, that was like the second or third time we hugged through the night. She said, “I love you,” and I said, “I love you more than anything in the world, I love you!” That’s what we said. I think at the end of the day, people want to be seen. And I think that’s why it was important for me and Taraji to acknowledge that in each other, to not just feel like it is competition, to just say, I see you, yes, I see you, too. I love you. I take you in.
Watching this white lady melt down over Viola Davis’s awesome Emmys acceptance speech on Twitter has been enlightening.
40 year old aged white tears hopefully taste good because this lady is squeezing them out like a leaky fire hydrant. Stay in your lane, Nancy. If you gave a shit about ALL women, you’d have appreciated and celebrated Viola’s win and respected her extremely valid point.
happy viola selfie day! i’m vicky, the person behind violaproblems.
i’ve been rocking out on viola for 5 years and in the past year have taken on cello as well.
My viola is a Karl Höfner made in 1968(who I named Eva for her old elegance) and today I’m looking at old music, in particular St. Paul’s Suite.(the first and last movements)
Hope everyone has an awesome viola Wednesday! Post your selfies on the tag #viola selfie
