vintage silverware

Luxury is dining with vermeil everyday. A snap of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Heinz’s impressive collection framed against a backdrop of apricot-colored taffeta: 19th century Venetian dolphin candlesticks; sleigh-shaped Georgian sauce boats; French fruit plates, knives and forks from 1820. The salt and pepper shakers, cigarette cups and ash trays are all by Tiffany. One can only surmise that diners were transported by the grandeur of it all. Photo from Vogue, April 1962.
