Former steelworker, brilliant orator and writer, and founding editor of Workers World newspaper. When he was fired from Bethlehem Steel’s Lackawanna plant, then the biggest U.S. steel mill, during the Cold War witch-hunt, 18,000 workers walked out in support of him.
