Mharti’s the Rick/Rick’s the Mharti

I thought the Citadel of Mhartis would be more fun. You figure, they’re young. Probably inventing new forms of lube or making video game walkthroughs… But instead I got dragged to the Lost and Found, or as I like to call the SAP’s corner (Silver Alert Pickup). Those Ricks looked half-scared and lost.

this guy’s dragons dogma character wears a leather bra and a thong. he’s also responsible for like 95% of the walkthrough videos and screenshots on the wiki so you’d better fuckin learn to love it

It looks like we’re actually going to be able to make our game work on the 3DS!****(probably!*****)

Having signed up for Nintendo development I’m not allowed to share information about systems and specs, so I won’t go into detail, but there are some aspects of 3DS development I want to share with you all:

Textures VS polygons

When I started working on graphics for this, I used Spyro as reference, and by extension the limits of the PS1. The Playstation’s main problem was its inability to render many polygons at the same time, so everything had to be extremely lowpoly and a lot of fancy trickery had to be used to make it look like there was more geometry on the screen than there actually was. On the other hand, the Playstation used big discs and had quite a bit of video memory, which allowed it to have many fairly big texture maps (for the time). The Nintendo 64 could hardly fit any textures at all, but used mipmapping instead, to “smudge out” the images, so that two pixels would be enough to make a perfectly smooth gradient. The N64 approach meant that geometry had to be used very cleverly to imply detail, since detail couldn’t really be stored in texturemaps. A lot of very tiny pixel-constellations were also used to create repeating patterns.

Here is the last video of the shot making tutorial series. It’s about finishing your shot with After Effects! In this hefty 42 minute video, I composite the shot from scratch. Compositing is basically combing all your animation work, colors, background work and fx stuff together into one footage.

Hope this helps! If you guys have been using my videos to experiment with stuff, SEND them my way because I’d love to see them

DEAD RISING 4 PART 2! FRANK WEST IS A HELPER OF PEOPLE!….EXCEPT THE DEAD! THEY CAN GET SCREWED!

MTR Movie Night! Special Video Game Addition

Starting at 3pm EST Today (March 10th), we’ll be hosting an online chatroom where we can all watch the video game walkthrough of Meet the Robinsons together. Absolutely everyone is invited. You do not have to be an official Robinson Clan member to participate. So invite your friends who have never seen it before or just enjoy it yourself.

The website used is rabb.it and I HIGHLY suggest signing up (it’s free!) beforehand so that your webcam/microphone settings can be saved as OFF before you even enter the chatroom. The site unfortunately automatically tries to access both of these but we ask that you turn them off so that everyone can enjoy the movie without distraction.

There is also a 15 person limit to the chatrooms but previous movie nights have never exceeded the amount of 9 people so unless we suddenly gain a ton more watchers, rabb.it will continue to be used.

Keep moving forward!

I’ve been hard at work on these characters for the past couple weeks. Tonight is the deadline! Pushing for a quick delivery can be stressful, but you find new ways of developing a readable design, making shortcuts, and most importantly, finding satisfaction with somewhat unsatisfactory work. Not everything has to be perfect!
