4/2 Interview with Yuzuru and Shoma after the Worlds gala.
Y = Yuzuru, S = Shoma, I = Interviewers
Y and S: Thank you!
I1: Hanyu-senshu. Your free was unbelievable.
Y: Thank you.
I1: After getting 5th in the short, how did you get over it and have a strong mentality for the free (literal translation: how did you switch your feelings)??
Y: I actually did not prepare myself mentally (literal translation: I did not switch my feelings), and it was my fans’ voices and the voices of support from my team that motivated me.
I1: You said you felt as if you were the wind and you were flowing in a river and that you were part of nature, but when exactly was it that you felt this way?
Y: It was during the steps before my first quad loop when I felt as if my consciousness was melting away.
I1: When you say melting away, do you mean like how you felt like the wind during your performance?
Y: Hmm yes, I felt as if I was floating.
I1: Everyone’s been saying your 4S3T is one of your biggest points, how did you feel about it?
Y: I was very nervous, especially because when I missed it in the short program, I didn’t feel any doubt going into it.
I1: You had an injury this season and even though I assume you probably struggled with that, you said that you are your biggest rival. I am just very curious on why your motivation is so high!
Y: There’s still so many things I have to work on, and during every single one of my performances I think, “Oh this time this was bad, that was bad”.
I2: Yuzuru, well done! (Otsukaresamadeshita!)
Y: Thank you so much.
I2: We saw that you hugged Javier, but were you able to tell him anything?
Y: (stumbles a bit calculating years) 2 years ago when I couldn’t win for the second time in a row, and last year when I was very frustrated, Javier was able to make me feel better, and this time I told him the same exact words that he told me during those times.
I1: Was Shoma a good presence for you in this competition?
Y: Yes, of course, he is so good, and he is improving consistently, one step at a time, so competitions are so exciting with him.
I1: Again, Shoma, congratulations. After that devastating result last year, I’m sure you practiced very much this season. Being able to stabilize two new quads this season, I think you practiced a LOT, right?
S: Last season, I practiced way too much which was why I wasn’t mentally prepared for the pressure at competitions, so things did not go my way. So if I was asked if I practiced more this season than last season, I don’t think I did. However, this season, I really think during each practice, and the quality of each practice session has changed, and I believe the result of this competition really showed that.
I1: Wow, you practiced less on purpose! I saw that you watched Yuzuru’s performance and scores before your free. How did you feel stepping onto the ice for your free?
S: I knew for sure that Japan would safely get 3 Olympic spots, so I was determined to just do my own performance.
I1: So you were really conscious of the spots then?
S: Yes, I definitely thought that was the most important thing, and my goal to avenge for last year was only my second priority. So I was able to skate very lightheartedly after seeing Yuzuru skate like that.
I2: When you entered the green room, we saw that you two hugged and you told Yuzuru, “It was because of you, Yuzu-kun!” How did Yuzuru support you?
S: Well I felt a lot of pressure because of the spots, and as I said before, that was my number one priority, and I am very happy that we have 3 spots for next season, and of course, because of the heart-strengthening presence of Yuzuru, I was able to skate like I did.
I1: (to Yuzuru) Was it the first time you felt as if you were the wind/you were flowing in a river?
Y: Yes, that was the first time.
I1: We saw some exhibition footage, and rumors are going around that you tried jumping the 4A.
Y: Nope, no I did not. I kept trying to revenge the 3A, as I really wanted to land a nice 3A… I’m so sorry, I apologize!
I1: And Shoma, we heard you were trying the 4Lz?
S: Yep, indeed I was.
I1: Is it because you’re gonna try to do it in the Pyeongchang Olympics?
S: Well, this was the first time I ever tried it and it was merely for fun, so please don’t expect anything from it!
I3: Well done, Yuzu! Man, after the short program I did not know what to expect!
Y: Haha, sorry.
I3: Your axis was a little off wasn’t it?
Y: Yes, it was.
I3: And you made sure and adjusted it to perfect it in the free right?
I3: This shows that you really are Hanyu Yuzuru, the ‘Jumping Genius’.
Y: Thank you. Well, in reality I wasn’t really thinking about the axis, I was more conscious of the entrance. Actually, I didn’t feel any doubt going into the jump when I missed it in my short, so I just decided to believe in myself and went for it.
I3: Your free made everyone in the world emotional. It was absolutely amazing.
Y: Thank you very much.
I1: Next season is Olympics, how do you think the competition will be at Pyeongchang?
Y: I believe it will be the exact extension of this competition. After experiencing this competition, I really really felt a ‘pre-Olympic season’ vibe. Because we have so many talented skaters going into the Olympics, with many bringing in new elements, it will come down to how consistent we are as we are right now, and how high the perfection will be even with the new elements. I believe this next period will be very exciting.
I1: Are you planning to include a new quad?
Y: Right now, I am thinking about it. After this competition, I feel very accomplished that I was able to skate perfectly with four quads, and it gave me a lot of confidence, so I will see based on how I practice from now on.
I1: We’ve heard that you were saying that there isn’t even a scoring system for quints.
Y: I don’t think myself personally is going that high yet, but skaters like Boyang, Nathan, and Vincent who won Junior Worlds this season and can do a 4Lz with his hands over his head… These skaters are doing crazy stuff in juniors, so I believe there might be a scoring system for quints after the Olympics.
I1: Shoma, going into this Olympic season, there is a big big wall in front of you named Yuzuru, how are you going into this next season?
S: Well, Yuzuru isn’t a wall for me, he is more of my goal, as I’ve been practicing with Yuzu-kun as my ultimate goal, and I will be, even from now on, practicing with Yuzu-kun as my ultimate goal.
Y: Thank you.
I1: Yuzuru, to conclude, as this has been a very proud, emotional night for all the fans in Japan, please say a message to all of the fans.
Y: All of Team Japan has fought very hard for our spots for the Olympics. The three spots were something we won over. As a team, we would like to continue doing our best heading towards the Olympics.

Thanks to 6277 for the subbed videos with proper credit to Sophie Moroi for her translation, and with her permission too. (I saw videos in Youtube that used Sophie’s translation with no permission, and even worse, with no credit to her whatsoever!)
And I love no-commentary videos… thanks to siberia1982 for the SP and FP ones!
Victory Ceremony: I was watching the competition on live stream and praying so hard during ‘Hope&Legacy’. When he finished his perfect FP, tears just streamed down my face. YOU DID IT, YUZU!!!! Then, after the last skater’s turn, when it was confirmed that Yuzu got the gold, I started crying again. And I could not stop crying throughout the medal ceremony! I was watching it on live stream and I kept wiping my eyes so that I could see clearly! Ahhhhhh……… finally, through all those ups and downs of the past 2+ years, through all the pain and heartache, finally!!! he got the reward that he worked so hard for. You really deserve that gold medal and all the happiness in the world, Yuzuru!!!
Gala exhibition, the beautiful Swan Prince in ‘Notte Stellata’:
(much thanks to respective video uploaders)
What a privilege to know you and to be your fan. Thank you, Yuzu, and CONGRATS!!!!
While in competitive yesterday this kid’s entire team left him to attack alone and we felt really bad so we invited him to our party chat and helped him get some trophies🏆We’re actually trying to make the community less toxic and it ended up making our night tbh 😁
This is the entire comp game btw so maybe skip 5-10min to get to the really fun parts.
Hey all! During the two months, I freelanced some 2D Animation with the awesome french studio, Studio La Cachette. The thing that kept me sort of busy during my off times is now publicly online (and now I can bring it up!). It’s for the worlds 2016 event for the League of Legends tournament! It was my first time animating in a sort of Sakuga style of animation since I’m more used to a generic style of hand drawn animation. I had to look up the animation styles of Takeshi Koike and You Yoshinari (since that was the style they were aiming for), so it was a wonderful learning experience for me.
I wanna thank Ulysse for the great opportunity, and the wonderful team (Which was a blast to work with by the way). It was a lot of fun, and I’d love to work with these guys again!
ENFJ: Is one of the nicest person I know, seems to make friends every time she’s in a public place. Has a really hard time saying no to people asking favors to her. Cries a lot, especially when watching animal videos and TV competition shows auditions (golden buzzer moments especially).
ESFJ: Has a creepy way of knowing when you’re not feeling well. Always has comforting words of wisdom. Has very strong belief in their values. She’s the person I go to when I need honest opinion about a subject of just to get some infinite love. Cries a lot too, especially when with ENFJ.
ENFP: Is VERY emotional, can go from butterflies and rainbows to torture chambers and fire pits real fast. Amazing sense of fashion, goes through phases (only wears black, only wears pastel, only shops at thrift stores). Is never at the center of conflict and can always find a way to mend broken bonds. Very intelligent but can make some non-intelligent spontaneous decisions. Acts as though they don’t care what people think but they’re probably the most self-conscious people I know (except for maybe ISFP).
ESFP: Can’t stand doing nothing for more than 5 minutes, has more energy than a 3 year old. Is really fun to argue with but don’t kid yourself, you’ll never win the argument (or you’ll know you’re right but they’ll never acknowledge that). Likes the outdoors and wants to live on a farm later in life.
ENTJ: If incredibly smart but even more hard headed. Cares a lot about people but cares more about their success. Was in all the clubs at school and for good reasons, they’re extraordinary leaders. Has no patience for stupid people or bullshit.
ESTJ: Has a very dark sense of humor and I LOVE it. Has a very astonishing way of always getting what they want. Looks like an introvert until they are seen in a crowd. Would be the person I would want with me during an apocalypse.
ENTP: The comebacks that come out of their mouths are amazing. Could never be bored around them since they’ll find a dark and twisty subject to talk about. Will argue as much as ESFP but will usually be more right and sometimes even admit when they’re wrong. I’ve never seen someone party like an ENTP. Secretly hates people but can’t live without constant interaction with them.
ESTP: I don’t know any ESTPs, guys where are you?
INFJ: You can do nothing with this person, for like 4 hours and feel like you just had a super deep conversation, baked cookies and climbed Mount Everest. Doesn’t talk a lot but when he does it is always the truth. Nobody dislikes INFJ, how could you he’s like that one flower growing in a field of rocks.
ISFJ: Loves books, is afraid of doing extreme sports and things that could be dangerous. Has so much imagination and lives to help others. I have never seen them angry.
INFP: Takes everything so personally, I’m always afraid to say a joke around them. Doesn’t do much, binge watches a lot of Netflix shows and loves politics.
ISFP: They never tell you how they’re really feeling but it doesn’t matter, you can read them like a book. Are very self conscious and seek attention from people. They’re so generous and kind but it’s hard to give back to them. Loves classic rock and old video games, is addicted to sports.
INTJ: I WANT AN INTJ FRIEND SO BAD. I’m pretty sure my chemistry class teacher’s assistant was INTJ but didn’t have the nerve to ask him, he was very passionate about science, over population and the statistic of the online dating world.
ISTJ: Can’t find any of you guys either, sorry…
INTP: YOU GUYS ARE EVERYTHING. I only know one INTP. Right now he’s either on wikipedia, watching educational videos on Youtube or playing some indie video game. INTP looks very socially awkward but is one of the kindest soul I’ve ever met. Talks to me about subjects I know nothing about (politics, economics…) in a way that makes me interested. Plus their vibes are super sexy.
ISTP: Where is your secret hideout, where are you guys hiding?
Warning: These are based on people I know in my life and I don’t expect them to represent everyone who are those types. If you are ESTP, ISTJ or ISTP I’m sorry, from one MBTI addict to another you don’t know how badly I want to meet one of you guys.
This is part of my submission for nalu week 2017. It is rated T for cussing and slightly suggestive themes later on. I do not own Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima does. I do not give anyone permission to repost any parts of this story anywhere. Please be respectful. Reblogs welcomed though.
This short story will be 6 chapters long.
Summary: The annual ‘Call of Duty’ competition is back again. Lucy is determined to reclaim the title as Fiore’s best team, but first she has to beat last year’s winners, 'The Dragons’. She won’t let anything stand in her way, especially not the annoying team captain of the opponent’s team. No distractions, no slip ups, and certainly no secret make out sessions with her rival. Modern AU. Romance/Humor
*It will not focus too much on the actual game play, more on what goes on around it.
Lucy flinched, dread filling her body. “Oh no,” she mumbled, a shaky hand lifting to cover her face, but she knew it wasn’t going to help. “He’s already here?”
Levy giggled beside her, pulling her suitcase out of the trunk to place on the sidewalk. “Looks like your rival is calling you.”
While her and Juvia snickered, Lucy shot them a glare. “He’s not my rival!” Her eye twitched when they continued laughing. “He’s not my anything!” Despite her words, she refused to acknowledge him, even after she heard his shoes scraping against the parking lot. 'Does he not know how to pick up his feet?!’
“Lucy!” His voice was louder now, the man standing directly behind her. She could see his shadow surrounding her.
“Not going to look,” she whispered, grabbing her own bags before pulling them out of the car. “Just ignore him and he’ll go away.”
“Not likely,” he said, startling her because she felt something brush against her arm.
She whirled around, ready to smack him if he was trying anything funny, only to sigh when she saw it was his overly-fluffy white scarf that touched her. Every time she saw him he was wearing it, even when it was mid-summer. 'Why is he still wearing it in this heat?’
Instead of asking that, Lucy muttered, “What do you want, Dragneel?” Her voice was laced with her aggravation, but he didn’t seem to notice. Why did he insist on talking to her? Wasn’t ignoring him every other year enough of a hint for him to take? She didn’t want to talk to that smug asshole.
“How was the drive?” he asked, waving at her friends before looking at her again.
Lucy’s eye twitched as she tried to figure out what he was trying to do. “Fine,” Lucy said, but her tone suggested otherwise. Being cramped in a car for seven hours with Erza, Levy, and Juvia had given Lucy a headache. She was just thankful they had the night off before the competition began tomorrow.
“Me and the guys are going to get something to eat in a bit. You wanna join us?”
Lucy narrowed her eyes at the offer. She opened her mouth to tell him 'no’, but Levy cut her off, voice louder than normal.
Context: Nothing can make your teammates more concerned than having a Symmetra on attack. It was in Voldskaya, and I decided to play Symmetra on attack because I’ve earned my teammate’s trust during defense. As we tried to capture the first point, with an minute and a half left, I told my teammates to just hop into the point regardless. As the enemies use their ults and my teammates wiped, I sneaked into the left building to place my TP. All of my teammates took it, and waited for my signal to dive in. We blew out soldier who was the only one at the point, and then we wiped out the rest of the team.
As a result, we’ve won the match.
I pulled this same stunt in competitive in Numbani, Hanamura, and Temple of Anubis. Obviously, there are some failed attempts but hey, you never know until you’ve tried, right? :)
A good Symmetra main would always remember that conventional ways of competing are never the right solutions to winning the game. You have to be creative, even if it makes your teammates angry. As a matter of fact, the riskier they felt, the better :D
