Womanist Mixtape

I created a Spotify playlist “Womanist Mixtape” of some of my favorite songs that empower, inspire, are righteous rage, Black power, vulnerable, confident, loving, romantic/sensual/sexual, friendship, fun and more. Some are on specific topics such as domestic violence and labor, for example. This isn’t me labeling the artists; they can self-identify. These are songs that speak to Black women/femme lived experiences and the knowledge obtained from them. These are songs that make me happy, and joy is an aspect of my womanism; “wholeness of entire people…” and such.

I’ve seen similar playlists in the past so I don’t seek to steal anyone’s thunder, but I cannot find them; I have too many “likes” on Tumblr to find stuff anymore. Womanists/Black feminists, feel free to reblog and write songs (below my text, as to not confuse people with what is already on the list) that you think I should add and I’ll consider; this playlist is just a start; I just made it today.

Black music is everything to me.❤

I am so confused. Nothing makes sense. The fact that there are so many versions of Chris’s death by Vicky makes me suspicious of her. Also, why did she send to cremate chris quickly? I don’t trust her, nor his mother, or the bodyguard. Do not believe everything they tell you.
It’s make me so angry about this situation and the fact that Vicky and his mother take advantage.
If someone wants to contribute in this case, don’t hesitate to say, I just want the truth and justice for him

Can we talk about Jacqueline Wilson though, she was my favourite author (apart from JK Rowling) when I was young, I had all her books. She wrote about girls in so many different situations that you could relate to, and wasn’t afraid to write about ‘taboo’ things.

Tracy Beaker is about a girl in care.

The Illustrated Mum is about girls caring for their mum with bipolar disorder.

The Suitcase Kid is about a girl who’s parents have divorced.

The 'girls’ series was about girls trying to fit in, including one of them developing an eating disorder, and the pressures to have sex.

Several of her characters have had dyslexia, and abusive parents.

Lola Rose is about a girl running away with her mother and brother from an abusive, alcoholic father.

Vicky Angel is about a girl losing her best friend in a car accident.

Love Lessons is about a girl who falls in love with her teacher and they have an affair. I could go on and on…

no offense but i judge the entirety of a les miserables production on how hot the actor playing enjolras is

Hi Becki! Do you have a certain place you go to for reading lists? I'm trying to find a list for '100 Greatest Novels of All Time' but can't decide which one seems most credible.

Most of the time I feel like these types of list are open to interpretation. Some are very heavy on the classic literature and light on science fiction, some are heavy on the contemporary classics and light on older classics. Take lists with a grain of salt and exchange books where you feel necessary. You don’t have to follow lists to be well read. You simply have to read what you like.

I saw this list at the end of last year and thought it was pretty well mixed.
