Arrival of the Crucifix of Christ the Savior to the City of Valencia (detail)
Museum of Fine Arts, Valencia, Spain
~ According to the medieval legend, “El Cristo del Salvador” was said to be a miraculous Christ Crucified wooden sculpture carved by Nicodemus himself soon after the Crucifixion. The pious tradition asserts the arrival of the monumental crucifix floating upstream against the current on the river Turia, on November 9, 1250.
