The inherent prettiness of elves

Okay this is hard because, depending on the story/meta/how much of a dick I’m feeling, I vary wildly between ‘elves are basically people’ and ‘elves are disconcertingly pretty eldritch abominations.’

BUT there’s an easy way to reconcile this.

For the Quendi, the relationship between Hroa and Fea is close to the point that they can will themselves dead or will themselves not dead despite horrific privation. They can also project images into the minds of others, be that 'so damn mad my eyes are glowing like a fucking anime’ or ‘hey Beor, you wanna get with this? Yeah, you do.’

The reason all our protagonists are the Hottest Guy Ever Except That One Chick Who’s Even Hotter, is because our protagonists are all intensely strong-willed, self-confident and able to command the respect of others, and that majesty and conviction directly affects their physical appearance.

There is all of one elf described as Not Hot, and that is Gwindor whose enslavement left him ‘a bent and fearful shadow of his former shape and mood’ - see how shape and mood are almost synonymous? And see how trauma and depression also left him unable to pick up the pieces of his former life. See also orcs, and contrast with Maedhros who was psychologically healthy enough to keep doing wars and also recovered physically because, to elves, that’s basically the same thing.

The past and present wilt—I have fill’d them, emptied them.
And proceed to fill my next fold of the future.

Listener up there! what have you to confide to me?
Look in my face while I snuff the sidle of evening,
(Talk honestly, no one else hears you, and I stay only a minute

Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)

We are all filled with contradictions and inner battles, Mars is a battle, Saturn is too critical, Uranus is demanding change, Venus wants us to chase something delusional, each of the archetypes reflects through us in a self that does not exist as Walt Whitman the great Gemini says
“Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself, I am large, I contain multitudes.”

“Heath was an old soul in a young man’s form, animated, kinetic, masculine, capable in all things, yet uncommonly sensitive. A loyal friend and an adoring father, his least favorite subject was himself. He was always disheveled, unconcerned with his appearance, because, like my writing partner Larry McMurtry, Heath lived in his head. He was a pure actor, much like Larry is a pure writer, in that he believed his work should speak for itself. In all his endeavors, Heath was a risk taker with an insatiable curiosity: he loved surfing and skateboarding; he was an accomplished chess player; he was an imaginative photographer with an acute eye. Heath could be impatient and demanding, fidgety and exasperating, but then turn right around and be generous, endearing, painfully shy, humble. His evolution from teen heartthrob to his haunting portrayal of an emotionally straitjacketed rural gay in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN–a performance whose tragic force will continue to touch audiences for years to come—gave us a mere taste of his potential as an actor. The great 20th century American poet Walt Whitman said it best: "Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, I am large, I contain multitudes.”

“Brokeback Mountain"

“Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself, I am large, I contain multitudes.” - Walt Whitman, Sun in Gemini

Esoterically the sign of Gemini is of most importance, because ether of the Gemini spirit exists every sign and expression. Gemini is the air we breathe, the words we exhale, the way we differentiate light from shadow.

~ ~ The translucent Gemini elixir can mold into any archetype and demonstrate any form. Mercury’s power was obvious to the Greeks and the Romans who ascribed him a caduceus which allowed him to travel through different realms, a helmet to protect his crowning glory, that magnificent mind, and winged feet that flutter to every dimension of existence. Hermes transported souls to the underworld, kept the lines of communication open with every God, and used mischief to create of the Milky Way. He is the Magician with his magic hands and brilliant mind. The Craftsman
The Writer. Thoughts that
The svelte mercurial figure that can shapeshift into any matrix, and it’s for this reason the Mercury, Gemini, and appropriately Virgo figure can embody the reckless and carefree spirit of Mars
the social decorum of Venus, the longings of the moon, the reverence of Saturn. Gemini’s invisibility and winged sandles fly him across the heavens through every conscious state, from the reception of Mercury to the unconscious kingdom of Pluto, as he takes departed souls with him, establishing the respect and companionship of
every God, from Zeus who watched from the mountain to Hades who resides in the underworld. He can dwell in the colours, light, and sound of consciousness and dive into the divine depths of the jeweled unconscious. Hermes is the God of transitions and he had access to all of these worlds. There are many worlds in the Gemini.
Gemini is the universal ‘Joker’, and that is the card beyond role. It’s reminds me of an Alan Watts lecture about the ‘Joker’ card, Gemini is the nature of the game, the presentation of alternatives. He mocks all, and defers no one. He is beyond all. But he can be all. He is seeing double and thinking triple.
The twins of opposition reflect dual states of being, the embodiment of sound and silence, life and death, the whole vibratory character of being.
The spirit and essence of Gemini exists within all of us. This opaque dewdrop contours, reflects, and creates pure magic, expressing the creative genius of every God and Goddess.

6x20 Thoughts

I really like the Black Fairy. I wish she had a song.

The fact that Emma was going to wear her mom’s wedding dress still begs the question…is this Emma’s wedding or Snow’s wedding?

The white tux Hook had look’s like something the Colonel from KFC would wear.

As the spoilers and songs came out for this episode, it made me wonder why we were seeing Hook sing about revenge. We are supposed to see him moving forward in his redemption (debatable) but then they keep showing us stuff about him that takes us back. It would be one thing if they were showing the past to show us his growth in the present, but they aren’t. The only thing that stopped him from getting his revenge was the Black Fairy showing up.

During the vows Hook said that when he met Emma only one thing mattered to him which was getting his revenge and she showed him that a heart full of love was the most precious treasure of all. I assume this is supposed to mean that he let go of that revenge at some point to learn the importance of love, but…

He knocked Rumpel out with the dream shade, saying that it was so Emma could defeat the Black Fairy without interruption (he could have stopped there), but he also told Rumpel (complete with villainous, homicidal closeup) that he would finally get to skin himself a crocodile. That doesn’t sound like someone who has truly let go of his revenge. We just saw him sing an entire song about revenge in the past and then they showed him threatening Rumpel with it in the present, which suggests that he still has revenge in his heart despite what he told Emma.

As far as the promo for next week’s episode, my first thought was that the Queen we were seeing was the one who Henry sent to a different realm to get a new start and not Regina. Could it be possible that she is still somehow in Storybrooke with Henry and Emma due to the fact that she split herself from her fairy tale self? It could be a way to give that split more meaning.

Henry said that there has to be a different ending to this story.

I say that to myself after every episode because if we are supposed to accept Emma as having changed for the better, accept Hook’s speedy redemption (despite the fact that they keep contradicting it), accept that we don’t get to see Regina have a happy ending (after having watched two loves die), and accept that the heroes (mainly Charming and Snow) get to be self righteous without having learned a lesson of their own, then as an intelligent viewer who is capable of critical thinking, I will be insulted as well as disappointed.

I very much understand why other people are fed up, but my curiosity wont be satisfied until I know if this was a lot of bad, disappointing storytelling or if there will be twist so good that all can be forgiven.
