🐇 Happy Easter to all nonbinary and trans people who are celebrating! 🐇
For those who don’t celebrate Easter, April 16th is also National Orchid Day! The Orchidaceae is a very large family of flowering plants that has about 28,000 species included in it. The orchid family is a perfect example of how much variance there can be even within a single group. Not all orchids look, grow, or thrive in exactly the same way but they are still all undoubtedly orchids. Nonbinary and trans people are not unlike them–we all look different, have different personalities and different views of our identities even when we call ourselves the same thing, and there is as much variance between one person to the next as there is between one orchid and another.
Today let’s remember that our variances are a GOOD thing and something to be celebrated rather than shunned. None of us are any more nonbinary or more trans than anyone else. We are only our individual selves and our individuality is not a bad thing.
