Just a little sketch of daine of The Immortals quartet by Tamora Pierce. I’ve been eating though that lady’s books in these last few months and enjoyed them very much. I may finish the sketches or not, but I’m using this to get out of the not-drawing-for-days-doing-school-stuff I’ve been into. Horses are still the hardest stuff ever for me to draw and she still doesn’t quite look how I picture Cloud, but I needed some challenge.

Day 2: Favorite female Character

Tamora Pierce Challenge!

My favorite female character resides in the first character who I read about, as well as the one I most indentify with.

Veralidaine Sarrasri

Daine and the Immortals Quartet were the first books I read by Tamora Pierce and I was immediately drawn in.  She was strong and independant, capable of fear and had a strong connection to animals (to put it lightly).

I loved every minute of Daine and fit inside her head like a hand in a glove.

I was behind her in all of her decisions and was immensly happy when she and Numair finally got to be together.

Daine is my favorite, no contest.

I’ve loved all the other heroines for sure, but Daine is the only one in which I saw my 13 year old self written down in a book.

Daine coughed and choked on the firey liquid. When she caught her breath again, she got to her knees and looked at the Lioness with narrowed eyes. “Truth drops?”
Alanna chuckled. “I hardly think you’re that tough a nut to crack. Besides, I just had some. It’s no more a truth-telling magic than liquor always is.”
