Pastel Ghetto - Istanbul, 2016

When I say ghetto, I mean ghetto. This neighborhood on Vardar Boulevard opposite Vialand, is one of the roughest neighborhoods I have been to in Istanbul. Ramshackle, dirt poor, and its inhabitants being hostile and suspicious. It is one of the few places in Istanbul where I felt unsafe and had to hide my camera.

A link between old and new, past and future.

This is the Stone Bridge in Skopje, Macedonia. It is assumed that the first version of the bridge was build in the 6th century during the reign of Justinian I, but the bridge got it’s today’s appearance in the 15th century when Macedonia was under the Ottoman Empires ruling. Ever since, it’s been the symbol of Skopje.
