so, um. Guess who finally watched HBO's Chernobyl miniseries. In the year of somebody's Lord 2024. Because I am a dinosaur. Who lives under a rock. So I guess I'm a fossil? I digress.
It was fantastic.
I was not emotionally prepared for the (fictionalized!) bond between (fictionalized!) Boris Shcherbina and Valery Legasov. Like. Where the fuck did that come from. Why was I not warned. How were they as devastating as the literal nuclear catastrophe.
I'm not crying. YOU'RE crying. Shut up. (Or as Comrade Dyatlov would say, "You can't see my tears because they AREN'T THERE. You're clearly in shock.")
People ship founding fathers with each other and literally everybody from those epoch with everybody after ‘Hamilton’ and no one bats an eye.
But you ship Valoris or Toptumov and everybody loses their minds???
One of those is of racists who owned slaves.
The other is of people who died in a horrible traumatic accident and got blamed for things that they had nothing to do with and that you can't even begin to comprehend.
Stop with your extremely parasocial fanfiction of innocent people who just wanted to live their lives but got dragged into one of the worst disasters in history. Go learn about the disaster and commemorate it in a way that isn't disrespectful.
