Introducing our latest campaign… VADHEDA.

Many of you may be familiar with the popular YouTube trend of vlogging every day in April (VEDA). Hank Green himself is a regular participant of VEDA, but this year, we’re giving Hank a special focus for VEDA and requesting that he vlog his anthemic masterpiece, “Accio Deathly Hallows,” every day of the month of April.

It is a song that speaks to the enduring power of literature, our cultural need for story, and the magic that resides in our own hearts. Some say that this song – with its overt calls to magically spread books throughout the world – may have even inspired our Accio Books! Campaign, an annual event where fans have come together to donate over 100,000 books to underprivileged readers.

It’s an important song in the canon of popular culture: so important that it merited four different inclusions on Hank Green’s debut album, So Jokes (2008). And since that precipitous debut, Hank has performed the song in many different incarnations, each one independently gratifying, yet collectively failing to satiate the core needs of the Nerdfighting community: the need for an entire month to be dedicated to this singular musical triumph.

It is time.

Time for Hank Green to Vlog Accio Deathly Hallows Every Day in April.

When Hank sings “I wish it didn’t have to end at all,” he’s not merely referencing the end of the book series. He is challenging our culture’s notion of finality with regard to story. Hank understands that these books don’t end when the metaphorical curtains close. No, these stories are only just beginning. They are ours to continue and ours to live.

If you believe in the power of song, of story, of community, of humanity, please sign this petition asking Hank Green to Vlog Accio Deathly Hallows Every Day In April. Together, we can make a difference.

July 18, 2007: Accio Deathly Hallows

In 2007, Hank Green made HISTORY with his debut of the original Accio Deathly Hallows. YouTube hasn’t been the same since.

To celebrate this momentous achievement in online video, FYNF is aligning itself with the Harry Potter Alliance to get Hank to sing this song every day in the month of April. We call it Vlog Accio Deathly Hallows Every Day in April (VADHEDA).

Sign the petition! Make history matter!

So Jokes (Accio Deathly Hallows Edition) by FakeJohnGreen

HEY ALL! A week and a half is all the time we have left to collect signatures on the petition asking Hank Green to Vlog Accio Deathly Hallows Every Day in April (VADHEDA) (because, you know, then it will be April).

So far, almost 400 of you have lent your names and voices to the cause, and that is awesome, but we need MORE SIGNATURES! Help get the word out, y’all. Persuade Hank to sing the same song 30 times.

Please enjoy this *~definitive~* version of “Accio Deathly Hallows,” performed with Harry and the Potters in Seattle, WA circa 2012. This historical nine-minute performance marked the introduction of the now famous reggae bridge in the latter half of the song. Also in this performance: the well-loved Noise break, a brief tickle war, and some clumsy stage-diving.

What new styles and elements might Hank introduce to the song if he Vlogged Accio Deathly Hallows Every Day in April? We need to know. Allow art to be created. Sign the petition.

After signing, please enjoy our playlist of “Accio Deathly Hallows” performances and feel free to recommend your favorites!
