us failure

Just imaging Prompto trying to hide his pregnant from Gladio as long as he can, worried about what the reaction would be. Ignis finds out first, but Prompto tries so hard to get him not to tell. And then one day, Gladio walks in and sees Prompto's belly, and the poor omega can't hide anymore and he's freaked out, trying not to cry

Things I like in this scenario: That Iggy knows first because of course he would. And maybe pregnancy wouldn’t be the first leap, but he’d notice that Prompto seems tired more often, is suddenly more picky about his food, claims to be sore or not feel so hot a lot. He might jump to illness and confront Prompto, assuming the worse and wanting to let the omega know that he doesn’t have to hide things from his friends, and there’s not much for Prompto to do but spill (he can’t have Ignis thinking he’s hiding some sort of life threatening illness when really he and Gladio are just failures at using condoms.) And Ignis won’t want to agree to keep this a secret but he’ll agree with some conditions like: Prompto has to tell at least Gladio soon. He had to see a doctor. And he has to turn himself over to Ignis’ tender, type A, anal retentive mercies (I hope you like meals tailored to omega pregnancies and early morning yoga Prompto…)

The angst potential of Prompto trying to hide things from Gladio. Breaking dates and not sleeping over anymore because he’s always sick and can’t eat anything but saltines and he doesn’t want Gladio to see that. Shying away from touch and sex, especially as he starts to gain weight, and never letting himself be seen without a shirt. At first Gladio thinks it’s just an insecurity thing, especially when he notices his lover putting on a little weight and eating differently, but there are other things: he’s spending more time with Ignis, a lot more time. Early mornings and shopping trips that go on for hours but don’t seem to actually end with anything being bought (Prompto is low key hiding baby stuff at Ignis’ place.) Temper flares and getting snappy if Gladio tries to touch him…

And finally the angst when it call comes out and Gladio is left with the reality that Prompto had been lying to him, Ignis has been lying to him, Prompto is however many months pregnant and he’s had no clue, and he only knows now because he’s figured it out himself.

Don't hit my guys!

Previous boss walked into the office where I was team lead over three engineers. I was out at the time, but heard this from the victim… Boss was angry about a mistake one of my guys made on a architectural plot (not a ‘mistake’, but a 'failure to use telepathy’).

Boss got so angry that while standing behind the seated engineer he punched the guy in the side of the head.

As if immediately realizing what he did was wrong, he said; “Fix it” then left for the day.

I got back to the office soon after and they told me what happened.

We made a pact that is he ever put hands on one of us we’d all stand up and put him down hard and back each other up.

Well, it never came to that. After approaching upper management and HR I got the runaround on reporting the incident. They all basically said; “If it’s was that bad then report it to the police, but he’s too high in the political structure to fire for this.”

Unhappy with that answer, and with my guy unwilling to involve the police, was set a plan into action.

We invited HIS boss, the district manager to see the progress we had made on a day when boss wasn’t around. During this I asked the DM to have “Skip-level 1-on-1s” with my guys saying that it would be good for morale.“ He agreed.

Each one of my guys opened with; "The biggest concern I have is that boss-man punched Tony a couple months ago and HR told us they couldn’t do anything about it. How can you ensure my safety?”

I got called in and gave my story but had to say I wasn’t there. I had tried to report it up through the proper channels and failed. I was told it was political suicide for my entire team if I was to push it.

District Manager didn’t buy in to the political bullshit. He made things happen. We agreed that my guys should not be in fear of physical attack. I also had DM’s backing in case of political fallout, and he was a personal friend of the CEO so that was good enough protection.

Boss-man was walked and trespassed. Boom, headshot.

Don’t hit my guys!

something that frustrates me about the whole “not my president”/“doesn’t share the values of this country” rhetoric is that he DOES

he DOES share the values of this country and to act like he does not and like this is atypical is to reject the past several hundred years of US and US colonial history.

our failure as white people has been collective, a collective refusal to fully look the past in the face and speak honestly about what we have done–we haven’t even done that, let alone made genuine steps to repairing the harm of generations done to generations.

we can see this everywhere we look, from the 3/5s clause to the oregon constitution, from slavery, the electoral college, the failure of the ERA to pass to the first anti-immigrant laws (which were also the first anti-sex worker laws), the gutting of the VRA, the gutting of the right to abortion–we are not the country that we pretend to be and we never have been.

whenever a new protection was proffered to a new group it was done unwillingly, half heartedly, a quarter-assedly, and only after great and massive protest.

we are not the country that we pretend to be and we never have been.

so yes, this is our president. millions of people don’t deserve him, but white people, we did create him. he shares most of the foundational values of this country: disrespect of women, distrust of people of colour; self interest and interest in capital above rights; and a willingness to say things to appease people with no intention of follow through or a direct intent to lie. ask any native american and they’ll tell you: this is a foundational bedrock trait of the united states of america.

he is OUR president as white people. whether we’re queer or women or both, this is still on us, who knew (or should have known) better. this is on every white person ever. we should have been undoing this for decades, we should have pressed the issue, we should have gone harder and we didn’t.

i don’t want him, i hope we can get rid of him, but he is most definitely OURS and a deus ex machina save to hillary WOULD NOT relieve us of culpability and responsibility.

we gotta change.

trump is our ugly white face in the mirror, and we have to change that.

Today my yoga teacher talked about how trees don’t compete for nutrients, but rather share them through an underground system of roots and fungi– helping each other grow tall towards the sun. After a particularly stressful academic week, this message really resonated within me. There is room in this universe for everyone, for everyone to grow and flourish and fulfill their own individual sense of purpose. So why do we act as if one person gaining success will ultimately render us as failures? College is a pressure cooker, especially for people who base their own worth off of the highest form of success. You are not your body, your clothes, your income, your job, your grades… you are a beautifully made human being, an infinitesimal sum of your hopes and dreams; you are a soul. And me? I am Kaela, and my happiness and worth as a member of humanity will not be augmented by slaving away to achieve the perfect grade point, or not eating a cookie that I so, so want to eat to shed slivers of fat off of my body. Celebrate yourself today please loves! 💫 February is draining, but the days are slowly lengthening and the world is starting to thaw.

This meme is still a thing right??

So I’ve kind of been obsessing over pokemon lately due to the pokemon go beta coming out in the US (and my subsequent failure to convince Niantic to let me in to that) which means I got into a pokemon drawing mood and also i need to learn to draw animals. Poses reffed off of images from a google search

Failure is so important — it doesn’t get spoken about enough. We speak about success all the time, but, you know, I do not know any — I haven’t met — and I’ve been so fortunate and met extraordinary people through Harry Potter, and not one of them didn’t have their failure — more than one failure. And it’s the ability to resist failure, in many ways, or use failure that often leads to the greatest success, isn’t it? So, yeah. Failure. I’ve often met people who - who are terrified, you know, in a straight jacket of their own making because they’d rather do anything than fail. They don’t want to try for fear of failing. Well that’s the rock-bottom thing. Rock-bottom wasn’t fun — at all. I’m not going to romanticize rock-bottom, but it was liberating. What did I have to lose?

US is destroying Afghanistan’s gene pool water and food chain with depleted uranium.

Depleted uranium is radioactive and extremely destructive to humans - with a half-life of 4.5 billion years. In other words, it takes 4.5 billion years for one kilogram of depleted uranium to reduce to a half a kilogram - the US has forever contaminated the Middle East.
The United States’ use of radioactive munitions in Afghanistan has destroyed the people’s health and mutilated the genetic future of the country, Press TV reports.

Dr. Mohammad Daud Miraki, the author of Afghanistan After Democracy: The Untold Story Through Photographic Images, told Press TV’s Kabul correspondent on Monday that the US has committed horrific crimes against the people of Afghanistan.

He said the US used depleted uranium in the country and Afghan babies were being born with severe deformities.

Exposure to depleted uranium causes genetic damage, birth defects, cancer, diabetes, immune system damage, and other serious health problems.

Miraki has described this as genocide in his book, which provides an insight into the grimness of life under the US occupation.

He says that he has seen people die without any physical signs of injuries to their bodies in Afghanistan. “And then there were bizarre scenes of birds melting on trees,” he adds.

In his book, birth defects are depicted with graphic images. He said he was overwhelmed by the number of these cases.

Miraki noted that the US used a massive amount of depleted uranium weapons in late 2001.

He went on to say that US forces are still using these weapons in the country.

Miraki’s book also says that it was a lie that the war was launched to introduce democracy in Afghanistan and accuses the US of betraying the Afghan people under the pretext of democracy and reconstruction.
