“Fountains Abbey is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for over 400 years, until 1539, when Henry VIII ordered the Dissolution of the Monasteries.” -Wikipedia
The Last Christmas Party, Whittingham Asylum Ballroom.
The asylum ballroom had the atmosphere of somewhere stuck in time from it’s final party, with the remnants of Christmas decorations and tinsel strewn about the place. It was as if a wild party had taken place and now everyone was gone and the once noisy hall was filled with silence. Sadly this beautiful ballroom no longer exists. The demolition of Whittingham Asylum commenced in 2014.
