Pre-high school, it was perfectly acceptable for me to wear glitter on my nails, face, body, and clothes—sometimes all at once! One of the first items in my beauty stash was a set of three stackable glitters that I purchased with chore money from a mall kiosk. I chose a flattering combination of lime green, yellow, and pale purple. I thought I had found “my look”! Once I graduated from the tween scene, however, I gave into peer pressure and my tastes changes. At my school, glitter was associated with a younger look, and when you’re in high school, you just want to look older. That said, there’s no denying the universal loveliness of glitter, as every year around the holidays, beauty brands roll out all kinds of opulent fairy dust. Here are some tips on how to apply it like a grown woman. KATE HELFRICH, SENIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR OF SEPHORA COLLECTION
LESS IS MORE Choose a targeted area like the corners of eyes, outer lids, nails, or the tips of the lashes. If you live by this “keep it simple” approach and choose only one feature to dress up, you’re less likely to look like you’re headed for a rave (which, if you are, more power to you—and you might as well as go big or go home). For example, if you go with a glamorous, glittery smoky eye, make sure the rest of your face is sparkle free! By sticking to this rule, you’ll never overdo it, and you draw more focus to the feature you want to emphasize…in a good way. FORMULA X Celestials Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner
USE DIFFERENT FORMULAS AND TEXTURES Resist covering your eyelids in chunky glitter. You might end up looking like a unicorn having a rough night. Go for eyeshadows that have shimmers or soft pearl to get a glimmering effect that is more toned down. Or, try glitter eyeliners that give your look just a hint of sparkle. If you do want to be more daring with loose glitters, make sure to first apply a glitter-specific primer to avoid messy, unplanned fallout that will take your look from “fun party girl” to “broken disco ball.” SEPHORA COLLECTION Glitterguard 24HR Eyeshadow Primer Lit Cosmetics Lit Kit

I’m really bored right now and really feel like talking about makeup, so I thought I’d post my top 10 favorite makeup/beauty products as of now. These are products that I had purchased, worn and fell in love with and will continue to be in my makeup collection ^__^ Keep in mind, everyone and every body is different, the things I love may be the things you don’t like or don’t work for you; this is just for fun :D and I’m so sorry but there is going to be a lot of Urban Decay mentioned here, but I’ve been on a UD binge these past few months lol
1. Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation
Ok, now for me, I found it very hard to find a foundation that matched my skin tone perfectly. I have very pale skin and almost every single foundation I would wear was too yellow or would oxidize and make me look orange. I was kind of scared to try this foundation (how silly of me) because some reviews described this as being very sheer and I have to say that I don’t agree at all! I had gotten a sample of it from sephora, fell in love with it, and bought it immediately. This foundation matches my skin tone perfectly, it’s seriously hard for me to believe sometimes! It gives a really nice coverage (I would say somewhere between light and medium coverage and can be buildable for a fuller coverage) to your face and looks very natural, and it wears soooo amazingly throughout the day and doesn’t cling to the few dry patches to my skin. It only goes to show you that you never know if you’ll like it until you try it out. This is definitely my holy grail foundation!
2. Too Faced Primed and Poreless Pressed Powder
The first time I tried this powder, a lovely co-worker of mine actually bought it for me as a christmas gift. I was using drug store powders and again, they would oxidize on me but would also look really nasty throughout the day. This was the first ever high end powder I ever tried and I can say that I fucking love this! It makes my skin sooo smooth, really diminishes the size of my pores, and doesn’t add color or make me look powdery. It also keeps my foundation looking great throughout the day, definitely my holy grail powder!
3. Sugarpill Cosmetics eyeshadow quad palettes
Need I say more about these? If you’re a bright, vibrant eyeshadow junkie you NEED to buy these! These are the most amazingly pigmented eyeshadows I’ve ever laid my eyes on and nothing compares to them. They’re my absolute favorite colored eyeshadows ever and you always get amazing customer service with the brand as well!
4. Milani Color Statement lipsticks
These are seriously some of the best drug store lipsticks you can buy. I looove the color range, they’re very creamy and moisturizing, have AMAZING color payoff, and the lipsticks smell like candy!
5. Urban Decay Naked lipgloss
I have never been a lip gloss wearer until these came out. The formula is amazing, makes your lips look amazing, adds a lovely sheer hint of color, doesn’t feel sticky, and the packaging on these is to die for! I seriously love these lip glosses and I don’t think they get enough credit.
6. Lypsyl Lip Balm
For a very long time, I had suffered from horribly dry, chapped lips! Lipsticks always ended up looking terrible on me because of all the flaky skin and I could never find a lip balm that actually worked on me. Then one day, my boyfriend just randomly decided to try out this lip balm and got one for himself and for me. And my lips have NEVER looked so good!! This has been the only lip balm that has completely healed my lips and really keeps them moisturized! Ever since I have started wearing it, I haven’t suffered any dry chapped lip problems and my lipsticks go on soooo much smoother, look 1000 times better, and don’t cause my lips to dry out even more. I am in LOVE with this lip balm!!
7. Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner (in the shade Perversion)
My eyes always tend to be super watery and I always had a hard time with my eyeliners (whether pencil, liquid, or gel) constantly bleeding onto my eye lid (which makes me so angry btw lol). I had noticed a lot of my favorite youtubers using this eyeliner in tutorials and I was really curious about it. I finally decided to buy it and it’s the most amazing liquid eyeliner I’ve ever tried (in my opinion of course). This eyeliner does not flake off, I find it to be completely waterproof and lasts allll day! Definitely will also be a staple in my daily makeup collection.
8. Maybelline “The Buffs” lipsticks
I really love these nude lipsticks, they’re super creamy, great color payoff and I personally really love the color range on these!
9. Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner pencils
I am so obsessed with these eyeliner pencils!! Pencil liners never used to be a part of my makeup looks until I got the pencil vault set from Urban Decay. There’s 40 different beautiful shades to choose from, they don’t budge once they set, and they make great eyeshadow bases!
10. Urban Decay Electric palette
Ok I know I haven’t owned this palette for that long, but I just had to put it on this list! I am in love and obsessed with this palette. The eyeshadows have amazing color payoff and blend like a dream. And I can not tell you how happy I am that this is a permanent product, I will definitely repurchase this palette over and over again!
some honorable mentions for top favorites not in this list are: Urban Decay All Nighter makeup setting spray, Naked 3 palette, Eyeshadow Primer Potion, and Lime Crime lipsticks
