unpopular opinion: i kind of enjoyed this movie

ok s2 was spectacular and brainy and gorgeous and just full of complexity and life and diversity BUT in my unpopular (probably) opinion dev/francesca kind of dragged out some episodes and i didn’t particularly care for them. i felt that at one point their forbidden love was waaay too precious. maybe that was the idea. their romance is contextualized with melancholy italian movies, so it’s detached from real life. i agree with arnold when he said it’s probably gonna be a shitstorm. they seem like the kind of ppl who really enjoy each other’s company for touristy fun things, but when it comes down to the routine of daily life…ehh. and like, i’m going to be trash and say that rachel’s return wasn’t just coincidence. rachel/dev is making a comeback next season u heard it here first

anonymous asked:

If I wanted to get into the percy jackson books and fandom and what not, where would I begin?

What’s a better way to start than with the books?

Here’s how the first series (Percy Jackson & the Olympians) goes:

  1. The Lightning Thief
  2. The Sea of Monsters
  3. The Titan’s Curse
  4. The Battle of the Labyrinth
  5. The Last Olympian

After that comes another series called The Heroes of Olympus (I had a couple of friends who weren’t exactly sure if they should read it but trust me, it is totally worth it). Here’s how it goes:

  1. The Lost Hero
  2. The Son of Neptune
  3. The Mark of Athena
  4. The House of Hades
  5. The Blood of Olympus

That’s all the “main books” but if you’re interested, there’s also a couple of additional books who are really interesting because they tell some side/back stories and add some pretty cool facts:

  1. Percy Jackson & The Olympians - The Demigods Files
  2. Percy Jackson & The Olympians - The Ultimate Guide
  3. The Heroes of Olympus - The Demigod Diaries
  4. Demigods and Monsters

(it’s pretty implied which series you should read first before actually going for them - it’s not a rule but you may risk giving yourself some spoilers)

There’s also a couple of graphic novels you could take a look if you like! There’s one for The Lightning ThiefThe Sea of MonstersThe Titan’s Curse and one for The Lost Hero. It is really well made and totally worth a look!

ALSO! There’s a book called Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods where Percy himself tells us his take on the god’s stories. It’s really interesting (and awesome) because personally I’m a big fan of Percy’s way of telling stories and facts so I loved the book from the beginning to the very end.

Important notice: There’s another book like that one to be released this August called Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes. So if you can, save some money because it looks really good so far.

There are also a couple of crossovers between Percy Jackson and The Kane Chronicles (another really good series written by Rick Riordan) so I’m gonna put it here too since it’s worth a look:

  1. The Son of Sobek (Percy Jackson &  Carter Kane)
  2. The Staff of Serapis (Annabeth Chase &  Sadie Kane)
  3. The Crown of Ptolemy (the four guys above)

……..okaay it’s not exactly worth mentioning but since I’m here I might as well talk about it.

There’s two movies out there. That’s a thing that happened. If you want to have the full “Percy Jackson experience” you can watch them (and feel the sour taste of utter disappointment that everyone felt when those things came out). There’s not exactly a right time to watch them, I mean, you can read the books before or after seeing the movies, you’ll end up saying the same things anyway so yeah have fun.

(here’s a total unpopular opinion - I’m sure some people out there will unfollow me for that - but I actually enjoy watching those movies. I mean they are terrible, even before I read the books I already found them garbage but that’s kind of the reason why I like to watch them now. It’s so bad that I can’t help myself ((I like shitty movies)). It’s kinda fun noticing everything that went wrong (oh god so so wrong) and imagining how great it would have been if they followed the book. Then you can cry because it would have been really great.)

So yeah! I guess that covers up pretty much everything.

If you ever feel like you want to follow some PJO/HOO blogs, I have a list I can share it with you so feel free to ask me!

Have fun reading, friend!!
