Unpopular Hetalia Opinion: Violent RusAme

I know well RusAme is commonly known for Cold War, and often first things that come to mind when thinking about Cold War is hatred, sarcasm, and violence.

And that’s why it’s no wonder many RusAme canonverse fanfictions that’s based on history contains violence, ranging from verbal sarcasms to actual punching / shooting that’s very bloody and violent.

Seems reasonable. Cold War -> Hate and Rivalry ->  Violence. Easy to think.

But I just find it’s kind of exaggerating to “personify” Cold War as two men exchanging blows / bullets directly. Because direct combat between USA and USSR actually never officially happened. It’s more like lots of verbal threats and provoking other people to attack the other, but never directly make a move. Because making the first direct attack in the Cold War would make one of them (USA or USSR) as the “villain”.

And frankly speaking, USA and USSR were both superpower nations that were very cautious in their move, which explains why Cold War went on for decades without actually growed to the actual direct war between USA and USSR like Axis vs Allies in WW2.

True, there were few instances of indirect wars that made USA and USSR soldiers to oppose each other, but like I said before, it’s indirect as in they support opposing sides but not directly attack each other, like in Korean and Vietnam war. In other instances like Polar Bear Expedition, England tricked USA soldiers to make them end up facing Bolshevik’s soldiers which was not their original purpose being there, which made USA troops’ morale down and making it one of reasons that made the expedition failed. In short, yes they might be throwing few punches there but it’s all within indirect context like ‘you punched my friend so i’ll punch you’ or ‘sorry i was tricked by others to be here, i’m just defending myself here’ not just a mere shallow ‘you irritate me that’s why I punched you’.

So it just makes me think those over violent fighting portrayal between USA and USSR for Cold War in numerous hetalia fanworks are too exaggerating, since most of them were done in a mere shallow context of ‘you insulted me so i’ll punch you’. Lots of propaganda, threats, insults, yes. But actual direct punching / shooting until they’re badly bruised and bloody? I think that’s too unrealistic historically. Maybe a few punches here and there in the few indirect context I explained in previous paragraph but never directly.

Even in hetalia, Hima only draws Ivan and Alfred to be bickering and throwing insults / sarcasms at best, but never actually fighting by fists / guns.

They don’t even touch each other in those scenes.

And before you drag these scenes to tell me I’m wrong that hima did portray them actually fighting:

I’m just gonna say, those are just AU and not the actual canonverse world, which doesn’t follow any historical facts at all.

Lastly, I understand that exaggeration sometimes is needed in writing fiction (even fiction that’s based on facts such as hetalia), to make the story spicier and more interesting. But still, it’s an exaggeration nonetheless and I just want that point to come across this part of fandom that loves portraying Cold War RusAme as an actual instinctive physical brawl fighting instead of intelligent calculating mind games like it actually was.

Unpopular Opinion : FrUK

Ok I can tolerate people who like the pairing as much as I don’t like it myself.

BUT I HATE WHEN PEOPLE REPLACE “FUCK” WITH “FRUK” ALL THE FREAKING TIME.

I MEAN, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD; IT’S NOT SMART, IT’S NOT CLEVER, IT’S NOT FUNNY, STOP FUCKING DOING IT. IT’S OLD, WE DON’T WANT TO KNOW HOW FRUKING MUCH YOU LOVE FRUK, THEY DO NOT FRUK EACH OTHER THEY FUCK EACH OTHER.

As I said I don’t mind people saying they support it so long as they don’t overuse that gag all the time. It’s so darn annoying.

ok thats it im really done

I

am fucking sick and tired

of unpopularhetaliaopinions

I think its fair to say that hetalia is a fairly peaceful fandom

and i dont think we, as a group, fight nearly as much as other fandoms and we’re usually pretty ok with each other

but i feel like literally every damn day this blog has to go and disturb the peace and stir shit up

with these people’s just downright

obnoxious and irrelevant opinions

“yeah but everyone’s entitled to their own opinion”

that doesn’t mean it’s ok to bash specific

  • ships
  • characters
  • actual tumblr users/artists

!!

and yeah i get that it’s a freaking opinions blog

unpopular opinions

like i hate to be all “no fun allowed but” holy shit

im really done

and bashing specific people and not deleting the posts?

thats just fucking

rude!!

i think that maybe we could learn to respect eachother’s differences and not have a fucking bitch fit without having to make a whole damn blog about it jfc

god im really sorry i wish i could ignore this blog but shit pops up every day!

i might delete this later

i needed to blow off some steam

Oh don't apologize for being childish! I greatly respect you choice in books. Fairy tales give very important lessons to young children, and the fact that those tales and lessons still resonate with you today is admirable. Not to mention I'm a sucker for a good fairy tale myself! So don't be sorry, k?

[Struwwelpeter is a children’s book from 1845. As the concept of childhood as we know it only developed during the 19th century, there hadn’t been any literature really aiming to educate children in behavior. Struwwelpeter remedied this, as a book that mainly illustrates the consequences misbehavior may result in - in sometimes incredibly drastic ways. It would take a whole post of its own to examine all these stories in the length and detail they deserve!
Fun fact, this book is still read today! And the names of some of the characters have entered the German vocabulary to describe certain types of people/behavior.]

Another Unpopular Hetalia Opinion: RusAme could work out in this current era

Okay so truthfullly I made this post because I’ve seen many hetalians think RusAme is impossible to work out in current era judging by their current political tension and their infamous Cold War history. And even if they know about how RusAme was very warm during Imperial Russia era, they would say things like “but it happened so long ago! it won’t really affect them now”

But let’s not forget it’s canon that:

1. Hetalia nations remember event that happened so long ago and it still affects their emotion now:

France and Jeanne d’arc:

Switzerland who still remembers his good past with Austria:

So I just personally think those “their warm history is so long ago, they won’t work it out now with their current political tension” opinions contradict with how the nations personification’s mind works in canon.

It’s not a far stretch to think that Ivan and Alfred still remembers their warm past in Imperial Russia era and still feels nostalgic about it now whenever they see each other in current era. Afterall, they are nations’ personification who holds memories since their nation was “born”, unlike their leaders or citizens who are only aware mostly about their current political tension.

2. Hetalia nations =/= their leaders

Another argument of why most hetalians think RusAme is unlikely is because how both countries have long history of political tension. But really, I think most of this political tension in current era really refers to their leader’s political tension, because let’s be real here. Most people and medias would judge how good a bilateral relation is by both leaders of the nations’ opinion of each other, because it’s easier that way instead of analyzing in depth of their multidimensional relation such as cooperation in space, education, trade, etc.

So it’s understandable to judge RusAme is unlikely to work since their bosses often has/had disagreements with each other since USSR was formed.

But let’s not forget that Nations can have different opinion than their leaders, such as:

Japan’s boss signed treaty with Russia without Japan’s knowledge:

Russia’s boss forced him to make a steam engine in one week which is against his wishes since he’ll be punished if he doesn’t do it:

So it’s also not a far stretch to think that even when Ivan and Alfred’s boss have disagreements with each other, Ivan and Alfred could still have laughed with each other and have lunch happily together, since it’s canon that hetalia nations can have different opinion than their leaders.

tldr; RusAme could work out even in this current era. It just takes an open mindedness and vast knowledge of their long history to comprehend how this is actually logical and not impossible. Btw I also made another post similar like this few years ago if you guys want to read more argument about this and check them out.

I just realized the biggest difference between Romano and Veneziano…

Romano obviously has a bias opinion on Germany it’s mostly because he knows who killed his grandfather and Germany looks just like the man who did it.

He blames things directly and holds these opinions because he doesn’t want to make amends with anyone who has hurt him or someone he loved. He doesn’t trust easily as a result and rarely sees past what he’s afraid to look at out of fear.

He doesn’t want to get hurt again and knows what and who to avoid to protect himself.

Veneziano doesn’t seem to follow that.

Veneziano saw first-hand his grandfather’s slow decay (Unlike Romano who probably assumed Rome was killed directly in battle. Romano lived on his own taking care of his own territory while Rome was still helping Veneziano)

He knows that a big factor of it was Germania in the fall of the western roman empire, but he sees past it and notices the rest. Rome had many issues outside the war with Germania and Veneziano, though he loves his grandfather, shared completely different perspectives from him while Romano still remained a lot like Rome himself.

He understands and notices all the faults and over all his way of avoiding tragedy is a completely different view from Romano.

Romano fears people.

Veneziano fears concept.

In short,

Romano believes Germania killed his grandfather.

Veneziano believes war killed his grandfather.

Unpopular Opinion.....

I ship Gerita with all my heart but I also ship Italy with Holy Roman Empire. Now I truly believe that Germany is in fact Holy Rome and if and when that’s proven I will be so happy because I want Germany to be that boy who pined after Italy when they were children because if he is they will have loved each other a thousand years and not even known it…..BUT…and here’s what I think may be the unpopular opinion…if by any chance it’s proven that Germany is NOT HRE (by him coming back or what have you) and Holy Rome is still alive…..I would want Italy to be with Holy Rome wholeheartedly despite my love for the Gerita pairing…..and it makes me sad to want that because I want HRE to be Germany so bad…..

UNPOPULAR HETALIA HEADCANNONS/OPINIONS IM PROBABLY GOING TO GET PUNCHED FOR

ITALY IS A TOP AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE

JAPAN IS ALSO A TOP, AND A VERY KINKY ONE

I ACTUALLY LOVED THE HETALIA MOVIE AND IT IS STILL MY FAVORITE MOVIE TO THIS DAY

I ACTUALLY LOVED THE JACKUP/LAZY STYLE OF THE FIRST SEASON BECAUSE IT MADE IT MORE COMEDIC AND AWESOME

GERMANY HAS A CURL. HE SLICKS IT BACK AND BOBBY PINS IT WITH 20 PINS TO HIDE IT

AMERICA CAN ACTUALLY COOK SOME GOOD SHIT

ENGLAND IS ACTUALLY A LOVLEY COOK. HE JUST GETS NERVOUS AND JACKS UP ALL THE FOOD

ACTUALLY, USUK IS INCEST. ALTHOUGH I STILL LOVE IT.

THE 2PS NEED TO STAY FANBASED. AT LEAST UNTIL WE CAN FIND A WAY TO MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY

SEALAND IS A COUNTRY TO ME

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO THIS ACCIDENTAL ALL CAPS NON ANGRY PSA

tbh I don’t think Romano is upset that most people call Veneziano ‘Italy’

I think under their agreement, Vene attends more meetings anyway because Romano has a bit of social anxiety and Vene is better at talking to people.

Also, Romano is first born. He is Rome. All Vene has is Venice and aqua alta drowns out his heart. The Italy title is his only life support really, probably only hope that when Venice finally sinks Vene won’t go down with it.

So yeah, Romano is okay with being Romano as long as his brother is both safe and attending their meetings for him

the-green-knight  asked:

Do you think you have an unpopular about a thing in hetalia? If so, what is it?

My unpopular Hetalia opinion is that I don’t really like England. Idk why just don’t but I still gotta respect his character. Also, also headcannons bc you made me think

  • America is actually really smart, and is great at science, specifically physics
  • Spain can snap at the drop of a dime and it is not a pretty sight it’s like bringing him back from his empire days
  • Denmark and Spain like to spar with their axes sometimes just because
  • The Italy brothers are totally badass sword fighters and France is handy with a rapier
  • Both Prussia and Germany are prone to finding abandoned dogs and bringing them home to nurse them back to health and then either give them away to good homes or keep them bc no such thing as too many dogs
  • America is the master at air guitar and he Prussia and Denmark will have air jam sessions
  • The Awesome Trio (Prussia, America, Denmark) have legitimately jumped up onto the world meeting table to perform a perfectly choreographed and rehearsed version of White and Nerdy and each of them knew every word. Every. Single. One (You’ve probably seen the headcannon I got the idea from floating around, I literally just added Denmark to it)
  • America is really good for pulling the ‘I’m not touching you! I’m not touching you!’ game and has been hit for it more than once

Am I the only who thinks Hetalia gets a bad name because people wank about it?

Like, there’s some truth in what they say, but the only reason the fandom gets a bad name is because they wank about it everywhere. Plenty of bad stuff happens in other fandoms, it just isn’t as widely spread around as it is, because people need something to wank about. It’s just Hetalia’s turn.

There’s smut and yaoi in every fandom-there’s BAD smut in every fandom. There’s pairing wars in other fandoms, there’s idiots and violent people in almost every fandom. It’s not just Hetalia, folks. It’s kinda of annoying seeing people afraid to admit to being part of this fandom because they’ll be shamed for it.

Just wondering... Opinions.

I’ve been stating my opinions lately on many things here. Mostly Hetalia related. I feel that every time I do speak up my opinion, I shouldn’t. I get this massive feeling of guilt and that people point finger at me for not being understanding, or for starting wars.

But this is not what I’m trying to do. I thought that giving out opinions would and could lead to very interesting discussions. Now I feel like I’m just a shame to all.

And yes, my opinions may not always be right, I mean, believe me, I know I’m not the brightest crayon in the box. Far from that. I mean, I think I’ve put so many friends ashamed on just how few I know of my own country. I can’t even draw it for the life of me even.

I am not the brightest and yes, I still enjoy sharing my opinion.

It doesn’t mean that I am stating out what I believe that it is what is right. To the contrary, it could even be wrong! This is when I learn no? By other people sharing their points of views? Therefore, if even more interested, I can research myself and learn even more! This is what creates a discussion! …not a war.

I feel that lately, if you point out something you like or generally dislike while proving another point or why you like or dislike said that. You are automatically starting a war in said fandom.

It seems to be a proper person, we need to accept all as well as love all no matter what the situations and outcomes. You can’t say, I dislike due to personal reasons. We must all apparently be neutral.

What ever happened to discussions with shared opinions? Even though we might not agree one another? Understand each other yes but not needing to bend and do what we are said. Believe what we want and stand a point to it or even just listen and perhaps change your own opinion.

Truly, this is just me writing my trail of thoughts due to recent and not so recent events. I’m not pointing fingers to anyone. As it’s quite obvious, due to my endless repeating in every sentence, that I am just writing what is on my mind.

Opinions are good to have and share, even discuss. It doesn’t mean that you state it out against something else, that you are being rude to disagree, disrespect, or anything of the sort.

Yes, perhaps we don’t have the best way to explain ourselves, we’re not all brilliant people with amazing intellectual minds.

I think the only unpopular Hetalia opinion

That I would actually express openly is that I wish Germania was a woman. I remember when I first saw him in fanart and I assumed that he was girl because of how people drew him (those luscious golden locks and skirt thing didn’t help) and I fell in love the concept. I really liked the idea of the personification of Germania being this strong barbaric woman.

I still love him but every now and then I get a little sad that I was wrong.
