Trip to UST

Bukas pupunta kami ng University of Sto. Tomas ng mga friends ko. Excited na ako! :))

First time ko palang kasi pupunta bukas doon at marami akong ini-expect. Magpupunta kami dun para magpasa ng form. :3 At last!

Pero bukas, go na go na talaga! Humabol pa yung best friend kong si Christine. ^___^

The School That Never Learns

I still remember that fateful Theology class I was in when I was still studying at the University of Sto. Tomas. We were discussing human sexuality at the time so naturally, the topic of homosexuality came up.

I remember staring in disbelief as my professor started calling gay people “abnormal” and “unintended” by God. As if their birth was a mere mistake. A glitch in the universe.

I was so offended that this woman who supposedly committed herself to a religion of love would utter such hateful words against a community who has done nothing but simply strive for RESPECT.

And now, even when I have graduated from their hypocritical hallways, they still outrage me. Apparently, students have to write essays on why they believe reproductive health should NOT be made accessible to all Filipinos.

It’s not even the fact that they have a certain stand that I don’t agree with. They can believe whatever they want. What I don’t agree with is the fact that students who have a contrary opinion will be marked down, singled-out in class and possibly sent to “counseling” because these students who dare to think differently from them are supposedly NOT LEARNING.

I never had a choice about going there or not thanks to my father so maybe one can argue that I was always a little biased. But there are many, manyMANY things I dislike about it. However, this holier-than-thou mindset has always been the greatest hurdle preventing me from having any love or pride in my alma mater.

It honestly just DISGUSTS me. Higher education isn’t supposed to be about creating drones who are caged into a certain perspective. It’s about creating minds that are made free by the knowledge they impart.

I mean, in the end… isn’t that the goal of education? To equip up so that we have the tools to think for ourselves? Why must we be chastised for daring to think outside the box?

The University of Sto. Tomas prides itself on its 400 years of excellence. I honestly dare them to rethink this bold proclamation. Because I think they are excellent in name only. It’s the only reason all these brilliant minds flock their campus. They did not make these kids brilliant - these kids were brilliant to begin with.

The truth is, it is a university that CONSTANTLY expects reverence from other schools yet fails to maintain itself properly (it really looks like it’s 400 years old - perhaps they really are going for that look of antiquity and disrepair). It is a university that preaches love and tolerance yet teaches its pupils such blatant bigotry and close-mindedness. That, in my opinion, is in no way excellent.

I totally understand why Jose Rizal hated this school. After hundreds and hundreds of years, just look at how far they’ve come.

UST

Ang nawasak na pangarap. Ansakit-sakit. Dream ko school ko ‘yun. Matagal na. :( Ewan ko ba kung bakit hindi UP, ADMU, DLSU o kahit ano pa man. Tuwing Cheerdance Compet, lagi ko silang sinusoportahan. Pati volleyball. Kahit natalo sila ng UP and FEU, sa kanila pa rin ako naniniwala every year.

Basta may kakaibang feeling.

Tapos biglang hindi ako nakapasa. Did not qualify. Ansakit talaga. Ilang beses ako naiyak sa room. :( =)) Anghirap ma-absorb.

THOMASIAN FILM SOCIETY, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO.

IS2G yung mga nakilala ko from our last prod, officer pa nila. Plus, they hold really amazing workshops esp the one with Mackie Galvez. Who is he? He’s the cinematographer of Sana Dati w/c means he worked with Tatay Tarog and Paulo. ALSO, RICKY LEE. RICKY LEE. odK

HOPES UP BECAUSE YUNG POWERS NG THOMASIAN FILM SOC IS JUST WOAH. I must tell you tho, medj malabong maganap siya by the end of the year. Sa nalalabing panahon ng sem, malabo. :((

Next year na siguroo.

Ang akin lamang, THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK!

For the girl who posted this, siguro ikinahihiya ka na ng school mo ngayon.

I tried to look for this girl’s tumblr, pero “NOT FOUND” na. Sana a girl like her doesn’t exist nalang, diba?

I’m not a student of UST, pero siyempre, I applied there. At isa ang UST sa mga napuntahang universities ng some of my friends, tapos, sasabihan niyang MGA BOBO mga taga UST? ANONG KARAPATAN NIYA???

If ever man na makapasa ako or hindi, sa University na ‘to, I will forever respect this school. (Remember my post about my Dream University?)

This is my first time na nagpost ako ng nagagalit.

This is a photo shoot I’ve done for the 3A9 of College of Accountancy in University of Sto. Tomas for their “Zorro” stage play.
