Watch on

ATTENTION: “Pokemon: The Origin” is a new anime series featuring Trainer Red, more serious tone to Pokemon!

No, you’re not dreaming but you may want to be pinch yourself just in case. Today a new Pokemon anime series special (super sad face) was announced to start airing on October 2nd in Japan, just a little over a week before the release of Pokemon X and Y on 3DS worldwide.

The series will feature Trainer Red and Trainer Green (Blue in North America) and will be a story based off the original Kanto region. In the trailer above we can see not only Professor Oak and Brock making an appearance but also Lance, the champion of the Elite Four.

Watch the latest gameplay trailer for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for 3DS…

Explained contextually by Iwata himself on where this game takes place in the Zelda timeline and also giving reason for why you will be visiting familiar locales from A Link to the Past, this gameplay trailer is starting to make me believe that November cannot come soon enough when this game is due out.

Soul Calibur’s Sophitia will be playable in Warrior’s Orochi 3 Ultimate (also Kasumi)…

As if there couldn’t be enough of these games, a refined Warriors Orochi 3, now with the added subtitle of Ultimate at the end, is due out in September for PS3 and Vita, and with it will host a number of random characters from other game series.

For instance, Sophitia will be joined by Kasumi and Ryu Hyabusa from Dead or Alive fame, as well as Sterk from the Ateleir Series games. No screens are available aside from those of Kasumi chopping samurai dudes up!

No word on a North American release as of yet.

Nintendo Announces National StreetPass Weekend - December 14th and 15th

This upcoming weekend NIntendo has decided it’s going to be “National StreetPass Weekend” which will let players StreetPass with other players from around the country (USA).

How will it work? When you go to a Nintendo affiliated hotspot such as Starbucks or McDonalds you would normally StreetPass with the last 6 people who visited that location, however, on this particular weekend, the StreetPass data will be that of another location from somewhere in the US. So you’ll be able to StreetPass with people from across the country instead of running into the same old faces.

Fire Emblem Awakening’s “Marth” gets Figma figure coming soon…

First teased at Wonder Festival in Japan back in February, “Marth’s” prototype figure looks to be almost ready. It looks quite stalworth and ready to be mounted on any Fire Emblem fan’s desk or mantel. It’s being designed by Max Factory, the same folks behind the very “cheeky” Tharja figure also from Fire Emblem Awakening fame.

Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- getting first arcade test in Japan next month

From August 9th - 12th, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- will be playable at SEGA’s Akihabara Building 1 on the 4th floor.

Aside from the playtest, Arc System Works President Minoru Kiddoka teased to Polygon during an interview that “Xrd” just might make it in time for a 2014 release, with no word yet on if home versions will be on current platforms or next-gen systems:

“It’s going to be all about BlazBlue from the autumn forward, and hopefully we can keep that energy going among gamers for the new Guilty Gear coming next year. [Guilty Gear director Daisuke] Ishiwatari is really working hard to push beyond the skills they’ve cultivated over the past 15 years and express the game in a new way. It’s something that looks like 2D graphics; 3D visuals that won’t disappoint fans, and it’s something I hope you look forward to.”

Dive down to Rapture in Bioshock Infinite’s Burial at Sea DLC…

Fans have been clamoring for news of when Bioshock Infinite’s DLC was finally going to come. Today we got our first look and man did it throw us for a loop.

Two packs of DLC were announced:

  • “Clash in the Clouds” - a horde mode styled, arena mode that debuts today on PS3, 360, and PC for only $5

  • “Burial at Sea Ep. 1” - Part 1 or 2 will take Booker DeWitt to the depths of Rapture back in its prime, where he engages the help of an older, more darker Elizabeth. That piece of DLC’s release date will be announced “soon”.

Club Nintendo begins offering beautiful Pikmin Tote bag for 400 coins…

Who says that the North American Club Nintendo gives crappy stuff to its members? Well, I say that actually… But it looks like for the first time in what seems forever Nintendo is offering up something pretty original and neat that you can’t find anywhere else.

Timed perfectly with the upcoming release of Pikmin 3 in North America, Club Nintendo loyalists will be able to snag themselves a spiffy Pikmin decorated tote bag for a mere 400 club coins.

Miyamoto says Pikmin anime coming soon…

If you’re wondering why Pikmin 3 was delayed for so long you might want to blame the anime. Okay, maybe not. But Shigeru Miyamoto, or rather the translation of his interview with Japanese publication 4Gamer made it sound like that:

“To that end I am currently working on putting all the elements that can’t be conveyed only by a game together in one package and am experimenting with making a Pikmin anime. The truth is for the past two years, I’ve been spending more time on the Pikmin anime than the game. (laughs) We’d like people to develop a more fond connection with the Pikmin themselves.

In fact, at last year’s E3 many of the Pikmin things we passed around were made from elements we used for the Pikmin anime. Furthermore, since December of last year at Toho Cinema movie theaters there are Pikmin in the logo shown before movies. Even during the parts where they ask people to please put on their 3D glasses, there are Bulborbs running around. These are one piece of the things we’ve done in preparation for the anime.”

Regardless, you can expect an anime based off your favorite gardening inspired Nintendo property “soon”, that is once Nintendo figures out how they want to release it.

Reconfirmed: Kingdom Hearts 3 Will Not Be the Final Entry in the Series

Speaking with the LA Times in a recent interview, Final Fantasy veteran and Kingdom Hearts series creator, Tetsuya Nomura, had a few choice words on what to expect from the next KH game and beyond:

“There was never a plan. As a core game, this is finally the third, and 10 years have passed. I couldn’t call this a trilogy. There have been so many spinoffs. In ‘Kingdom Hearts 3,’ the battles that the characters have been fighting for the past 10 years will come to a conclusion. That is the plan. But the series will continue. Only the particular enemy they have been fighting the past 10 years will come to an end.”

Guilty Gear Xrd Confirms Handful of Fan-Favorite Returning Fighters!

Chipp Zanuff, Potemkim, May, Venom, and Milia Rage and the latest batch of fighters outside of Ky Kiske and Sol Bad Guy to get the nod to be included in the next Guilty Gear.

I’m a huge fan of the redesign of Potemkim since before he looked just like a wannabe Juggernaut. Dude looks ballin’ now in his Kaiju fighting attire. As for Chipp.. wish they would have spent a little more time on his face.
