ATTENTION: “Pokemon: The Origin” is a new anime series featuring Trainer Red, more serious tone to Pokemon!

No, you’re not dreaming but you may want to be pinch yourself just in case. Today a new Pokemon anime series special (super sad face) was announced to start airing on October 2nd in Japan, just a little over a week before the release of Pokemon X and Y on 3DS worldwide.

The series will feature Trainer Red and Trainer Green (Blue in North America) and will be a story based off the original Kanto region. In the trailer above we can see not only Professor Oak and Brock making an appearance but also Lance, the champion of the Elite Four.

Watch the latest gameplay trailer for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for 3DS…

Explained contextually by Iwata himself on where this game takes place in the Zelda timeline and also giving reason for why you will be visiting familiar locales from A Link to the Past, this gameplay trailer is starting to make me believe that November cannot come soon enough when this game is due out.

Nintendo Announces National StreetPass Weekend - December 14th and 15th

This upcoming weekend NIntendo has decided it’s going to be “National StreetPass Weekend” which will let players StreetPass with other players from around the country (USA).

How will it work? When you go to a Nintendo affiliated hotspot such as Starbucks or McDonalds you would normally StreetPass with the last 6 people who visited that location, however, on this particular weekend, the StreetPass data will be that of another location from somewhere in the US. So you’ll be able to StreetPass with people from across the country instead of running into the same old faces.

Dive down to Rapture in Bioshock Infinite’s Burial at Sea DLC…

Fans have been clamoring for news of when Bioshock Infinite’s DLC was finally going to come. Today we got our first look and man did it throw us for a loop.

Two packs of DLC were announced:

  • “Clash in the Clouds” - a horde mode styled, arena mode that debuts today on PS3, 360, and PC for only $5

  • “Burial at Sea Ep. 1” - Part 1 or 2 will take Booker DeWitt to the depths of Rapture back in its prime, where he engages the help of an older, more darker Elizabeth. That piece of DLC’s release date will be announced “soon”.

Video: Unboxing of Japanese Turquoise and Black 3DS LL

Yep, that’s a 3DS. But it’s an LL (XL), and it’s got a blue D-Pad and buttons!

Turquoise and Orange 3DS LL’s Coming to Japan

Begin your jealousy rants because Japan is once again getting some pretty nifty 3DS colors that more than likely won’t be coming to any other territory.

NintendoTweet just posted a couple of pictures that show off not only the new colors but also that they will be packed in with an A/C charger cable. That may come to the surprise of some but it’s been a longstanding tradition that not only DS'es but pretty much every single Nintendo home console since the Famicom has never shipped with an A/C power supply or charger – apparently trying to dodge some sort of specific tax by selling it separately (someone can correct us if we’re off).

No word on release yet.

Watch Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Gameplay from location test at SEGA Japan…

So it’s finally happening; a new Guilty Gear is on its way. But before the game actually hits consoles like all modern fighters it’s seeing its debut in arcades in Japan (you remember arcades don’t you?).

Over the weekend Guilty Gear Xrd was given a timed location test to see what players thought of the new visuals and features made to the series thus far. Check out the video above to get a gander of what players in Japan got to experience.

PS Vita gets price dropped to $199, memory cards soon to follow…

Been holding out on the Vita because of its price? While the roster of games still isn’t as deep as let’s say the 3DS, you shouldn’t cut this handheld short, especially if you’re  PS+ member. Announced this morning at Gamescom, Sony went ahead and revealed that the price drop would be effective immediately and that the ridiculous high prices of its memory cards would also get shaved down.

Watch this new Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMix  trailer and realize it’s out in about a month…

To make sure you’re still paying attention, Square-Enix released a new trailer with pretty much nothing we haven’t seen for the past decade with the exception of HD visuals. This trailer features more Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix, a version of the game never released outside of Japan.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMix launches on September 10th.

Onechanbara Z coming to Japan and puts you again in the shoes of another scantily dressed girl slicing down zombies…

Girls hardly wearing any clothes wearing cowboy hats and weilding samurai swords cutting up zombies is the standard of the Onechanbara series, and Z plans to continue this tradition regardless of what Western progressives want in their modern representations of girls in games.

Onechanbara Z is due to hit in Japan on October 24th

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright coming to North America in 2014…

While not really a favorite of either Phoenix Wright or Layton fans, this Level-5 cross-over is finally coming to North American sometime in 2014 on 3DS.

Also, mentioned prior to this announcement was that Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy will be coming out next year as well, though this was previously known, and will be the final chapter in the long Layton series (again, something we already knew).

I’m going to be honest and say I’m going to be really sad once it all ends. I mean, Layton was and will continue to be the greatest gentleman in gaming history.
