Largely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, composer Philip Glass pioneered contemporary minimalist composition. He has written eleven symphonies, eleven concertos, and three of his film scores have been nominated for Academy Awards. He began his studies of mathematics and philosophy at the University of Chicago at the age of 15.
Arts Pass: Chicago Opera Theater presents Philip Glass’s The Perfect American
For the low price of $10 for both tickets and transportation, UChicago students had the opportunity this past spring to travel to the Chicago Opera Theater in Millennium Park and see the Chicago premiere of The Perfect American. An opera by UChicago alumnus Philip Glass, The Perfect American depicts the last few months of Walt Disney’s life.
