type: top nine

brooklyn nine nine is really good to us when it comes to friendships, because every character has such unique friendships and bonding scenes with the others but i dont think we talk about rosas and charles friendship enough because damn:

- we start the show with charles being head over heels for rosa, who is clearly not interested

- rosa tells him, very clearly, that she thinks hes sweet and really likes him as a friend but shes not interested in dating him

- it takes charles some time to get over her, but he does!! apologizes for being weird and making her uncomfortable!! and they go on having an incredibly strong and close friendship!!

- at one point charles even takes a bullet for her, which could have led to the whole “just give him a chance” trope but nope b99 doesnt do that bs, they talk it out and they never end up together

- they are so close that charles even helps rosas bf to plan for her birthday because he knows her so well!! she loves it!!

- rosa asks charles to be her bridesmaid because they are so close and she knows charles would love that!! he does!!

- charles plans her the best bachelorette party and rosa absolutely loves it!! she gets so excited she literally lifts charles up from the floor??

- sometimes between working cases they go to have foot massages together?? that was so cute??

- charles helps rosa text her boyfriend?? because shes not that great at pickup lines?? how cute??

- the writers could have easily opted to go with the “less attractive man falls for his way hotter coworker whos not interested but ends up giving him a chance because he is nice (and wont stop pestering her)” trope but instead we got this beautiful beautiful brotp

You know, you were always my hero, but I think I’m finally starting to see you for who you really are: A regional airline pilot whose landings are bumpy as hell and a pretty selfish guy who genuinely doesn’t care about being a dad. Look, I’ve been making excuses for you my whole life, but you’re a pretty crappy father, and until you’re ready to be a good one, don’t call me.

The Great Below

Ocean pulls me close
and whispers in my ear
The destiny I’ve chose
all becoming clear
The currents have their say
The time is drawing near
washes me away
makes me disappear

I descend from grace
in arms of undertow
I will take my place
in the great below

I can still feel you
even so far away

Can you do a little guide of 1st gen, 2nd gen, and 3rd gen Kpop girl groups if you know the difference? I thought wonder girls was 1st gen. Thank you!!!!

1st gen are the earliest kpop idols. Most aren’t known by current kpop stans but they are very respected as they are the pioneers. They set the foundation and paved the path for future idols. Back then, there weren’t NEARLY as many debuts as now.

1st gen (90’s - 2000): fin.kl, god, hot, ses, shinwha, koyote, 4men, turbo, seo taiji and the boys, baby vox, etc

2nd gen is given credit for making kpop more international and are considered the leaders of Hallyu. Because the 2nd gen was very impactful in its 10 years, it’s easier to categorize it by the early and late debuts, since it feels strange to most people to see names together such as miss a and boa as if they debuted near each other.

Early 2nd gen (2001 - 2008): rain, boa, txvq, epik high, super junior, big bang, snsd, shinee, kara, 2pm, wonder girls, brown eyed girls, iu, etc

Late 2nd gen (2009 - 2011): 2ne1, block b, infinite, beast, f(x), apink, sistar, miss a, after school, mblaq, teen top, nine muses, girls day, etc

3rd gen is the current crop of idols. This is the generation with the most debuts per year of all time. The market is now over saturated which makes it harder for the current idols to have the same achievements as the previous generation. They look up to 2nd gen idols for their major accomplishments and 1st gen idols for their longevity. These are the groups that most new kpop fans know/stan. Some of these may seem like they belong to the 2nd gen bc of their age and lack of connections to the newer debuts, but they are actually just early debuts of the 3rd gen.

3rd gen (2012 - now): exo, bts, red velvet, twice, gfriend, seventeen, got7, Lee hi, mamamoo, vixx, bap, nu'est, ailee, ladies’ code, crayon pop, lovelyz, exid, monsta x, astro, nct, ikon, day 6, clc, pentagon, etc

On this day in music history: May 10, 1986 - “West End Girls” by the Pet Shop Boys hits #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 1 week, also topping the Club Play chart for 2 weeks on May 3, 1986. Written by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, it is the biggest hit for the British synth pop/dance music duo. The worldwide hit version of “West End Girls” is actually the second version of the song recorded by the duo. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe originally record the track with new wave/dance music producer Bobby Orlando (aka “Bobby O”) in 1984. Released on CBS’ short lived Bobcat Records imprint, it becomes a sizable club hit in parts of Europe and the US. Tennant and Lowe have a falling out with Orlando prior to signing with EMI Records and subsequently re-cut the song with producer Stephen Hague (OMD, Erasure, New Order), in 1985. The re-recorded version also features background vocals by Helena Springs (Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Matt Bianco). Released in the UK in October of 1985, the single shoots to number one in the UK in January 1986, leading to its US release. Entering the Hot 100 at #71 on March 1, 1986, it climbs to the top of the chart ten weeks later. “West End Girls” also top the charts in Canada, Norway, and New Zealand as well as reaching the top five in another nine countries. The success of the single propels their debut album “Please” to Platinum status in the US.
