twelve holiday stories

But people don’t need to remember how it felt to be happy and safe in the past. They need to have hope that they can get there again in the future.

anonymous asked:

Hello, could you recommend me some books that are collections of stories?

Well, the thing is, “collection of stories” is still pretty vague. Like, YA short stories? Horror? Historical? What genre are we talking about exactly? So here’s a list covering several genres and hopefully that’ll help you find what you’re looking for! :)

Young Adult Anthologies

lovelycess said to quoted-books: Do you have any YA book recommendations for when in a reading slump? 😞 thanks!

I’m sorry about your reading slump! I’ve definitely been there. All of the YA books below are ones that got me out of various slumps over the years due to their prose, compelling storyline, or just being a good book! I hope some of them are able to do the same for you! :)

1. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

2. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

3. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

4. My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories by Stephanie Perkins- She has a new collection out (she’s the editor, multiple authors) that I haven’t read but sometimes short stories can spark a reading marathon for me!

5. All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

6. Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

7. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

8. Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future by A.S. King

9. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman

10. Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira

Thanks so much for the question! Happy reading!

12 Days of Shipmas

It’s almost December!!!

I know a lot of the Squad are planning festive Drarry treats for us all, and I personally can’t wait to indulge in all the fluffy holiday fun times - yay!

I’ve decided to start work on my own project, which I’m dubbing #juliet’s 12 days of shipmas, so if you want to follow it, make a note of that hashtag!

I’ve been wanting to branch out and explore writing some other ships, and then @ourloveislegendrarry shared this festive prompt list by @blakesmilitia with me when we were discussing our #a very drarry holiday idea (which this will still be a part of).  This list is so good though, I immediately wanted to try a whole bunch of them.  Then I thought - why not?!  It’s Christmas after all!

So I will be writing twelve holiday themed stories for some of my all-time favourite ships from all manor of fandoms, as many as possible taking inspiration from the aforementioned list.  These will be going up one a day, until the last one on Christmas Eve.

I’m going to share the list of ships with you below, because I would love to know if any multi-fandom Squadlings would like to be tagged when they go up?  I know there are a few other OTPs I share with several of you guys, and I’d be honoured to write these stories for you :-D

But first, here is my 12 Days of Shipmas:

  • SnowBaz (Simon and Baz, ‘Carry On’) – Sunday 13th
  • Hijack (Hiccup and Jack, ‘Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons’) – Monday 14th
  • Cartinelli (Peggy and Angie, ‘Agent Carter/MCU’) – Tuesday 15th
  • Wolfstar (Remus and Sirius, ‘Harry Potter’) – Wednesday 16th
  • Benthan (Benji and Ethan, ‘Mission Impossible’) – Thursday 17th
  • Captain Swan (Hook and Emma, ‘Once Upon A Time’) – Friday 18th
  • Marvey (Mike and Harvey, ‘Suits’) – Saturday 19th
  • Zukara (Zuko and Katara, ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’) – Sunday 20th
  • Rayne (River and Jayne, ‘Firefly’) – Monday 21st
  • Stucky (Steve and Bucky, ‘Captain America/MCU’) – Tuesday 22nd
  • Destiel (Dean and Castiel, ‘Supernatural’) – Wednesday 23rd
  • Drarry (Draco and Harry, ‘Harry Potter’) – Thursday 24th

Right, now some people I think might be interested in being tagged :-D

I’ll start with @icanhelpyouthere as I’d like to write the Wolfstar one for your birthday <3 Also…

@27snowflakes @gloster @fandomsgonecrazy @sakura9842 @talkdrarrytome @mitsouparker @ourloveislegendrarry @sprout2012 @goldentruth813 @drarrysgirl @oh-my-drarry @dreamydrarry @hotter-than-potter @themalfoymanner @draconianpotterhead @cassiafrankincense @a-eliz @mangoapplepie @alpha-exodus @diydrarry @accio-malfoy @indigoprinceofslytherin @perchancetoendure @mistletoe-ravenclaw

I’m pretty much just tagging people I like lol :-P And I’ve probably forgotten a bunch too.  But anyway, anyone is free to request a tag, or you can just check out my blog on the days listed, I just want to share the fandom love :-D

Hugs and love!

(Happy birthday, bethanyactually!)

The room is lit by the tree, and the tree is lit by strings of colored lights. There’s a star at the top, and I think that, yes, this is how it’s supposed to be - the point of a Christmas tree is to look like all the other Christmas trees, but still be a little bit your own.
