Somebody will loose a limb in No Going Back

Exactly what the title says. I’m pretty certain somebody is going to loose an arm or a leg this episode. There has been too much buildup to it throughout the season for it not to happen.

First, back in episode one, Pete casually mentions cutting off Clem’s arm, saying it worked for a cousin of his.

In episode two, if you saved Uncle Pete, he refuses to cut off his limb because he’ll just bleed out.

In episode 3, we meet Reggie . He had his arm cut off by Mike between the time the cabin group left and the time they were captured. From him, we get clear, 100%, undeniable proof that amputating bitten limbs CAN work in the video game universe. Other than that, Reggie’s arm loss doesn’t have much of an impact on the story. Even Carver admits that his arm loss wasn’t as much of an impediment as you’d think it was, and didn’t inherently make him a liability.

A cheknov’s gun is something described at one point in the story that only matters much later. For example, if the author says a gun was mounted to the wall, that gun will later be used to kill someone. I’m saying that Reggie’s amputation is going to be relevant later to the story.

Now at the end of the episode, we get the choice to cut off Sarita’s arm. After being introduced to a character who lost a limb and lived, almost everyone choose to cut off Sarita’s arm. She dies two seconds later. After that, people might be a bit more hesitant to cut off a limb.

I hope all of you know what a bluff is. I’m saying the choice to cut off Sarita’s arm (and it’s consequences) was a bluff.

And now for the most damning piece of evidence there is: out of all the weapons he could be carrying, why has Luke, ever since episode one, always have a machette with him when venturing outside for more than five minutes? Why not just pull a mini axe out of his ass like all the other characters do with their weapons? Why specifically hammer it into the player’s brain that Luke always carries a sword with him?

To recap:

* There is a mention or example of amputation in every episode up to this point.

* Ever since episode one, Luke has always had his machete with him.

* We have been given two examples of amputation working. A second hand account from Pete, and a first hand account from Reggie.

* The only survivor in the game universe to successfully amputate somebody else’s limb, Mike, is a member of the group right now.

In short, all the stuff about arms getting cut off leads me to think that somebody will actually loose one in episode 5, No Going Back.

What do you guys and gals think?
