People often ask me why I like to rewatch episodes of tv shows, I tell them that its comforting and it even helps with my anxiety. Being able to drift away from real life for 45 minutes and live vicariously through my favorite characters makes living in such a cruel world that little bit better.

My Worst Audition: Julianna Margulies

Julianna Margulies’ audition for ER could have gone a liiiiittle smoother.

Code Black

I watched this show with my mom who is a nurse and has worked in the ER and med surg floor for 30 years. When she saw the show she was silent she didn’t say a word even through the commercials. When the show ended she turned to me and said that was the most realistic portrayal of a hospital she has ever seen and that it will help a lot of adolescents who are thinking of going into the medical field if they are 100% in it.
She hopes the show stays like this and isn’t lost with unnecessary plot lines and love connections.

Where is the ER fandom at?

Seriously? I mean this. I literally grew up watching ER and I have a special place deeply entrenched in my heart for each and every single member of the stunning cast of ER, each beautifully written character and heartwrenching sadness and uplifting joy.

You want a show that handles topics like HIV/AIDS, Homosexuality, Transgenderism, Cancer and other serious illnesses both physical and mental in a mature, realistic manner, without reducing the diverse world to simple arrogantly designed stereotypes?

How about a show that says everything that is wrong with North American medical facilities and national medical budgeting in a simple, effective manner?

A show that takes these well-written, strong characters, these very real people and puts them into everyday and not-so-everyday Emergency Medical situations?

Where a large part of the events that happen in the show are based on events that have happened to real hospitals in the US?

E-muthafuckin-R, my darlings.

Plus, hey guess what? The cast is stellar and when I say stellar is mean literally star-studded. Check this out:

He also had a fever which I said was suspicious. I even did a stomach press check and I knew. Still, I got out my medical textbook they gave me on ER (1994) and said, ‘Let’s go to the real doc.’ He said, 'It’s just the flu.’ Of course, they admitted him and took out his appendix. Now he’s like, 'Get over yourself. You’re still not a real doctor.’

George Clooney, and I ask you, do I really need to do a blurb for George “the Amazing Actor and Yet Still the Worst Batman Ever” Clooney? This man has done more good movies than I can remember all of the names of, but I will always remember him first and foremost as Dr. Doug Ross on ER, the playboy ER pediatrician who falls in love with Julianna Margulies’ character.
