Your roommate was talking a mile a minute from her position on the couch
opposite him, telling him about her day at uni and interrogating him about his
time on tour. He did his best to keep up with her, still trying to wake up so
he could focus on what she was saying.
Her clattering at the door had woken him up, and Calum had to take a
minute to get his bearings and to remember that he wasn’t on a tour bus
anymore. A quick look at his phone told him that he had been asleep for three
hours, and by the TV showing the Sony logo bouncing around the screen, he
had missed the ending of the movie.
You were still asleep, your head resting on Calum’s chest, and your legs
tangled with his under the blanket across the length of the couch. His hoodie
on your body was a little too big for you and it had twisted around your frame,
but Calum couldn’t deny how adorable you looked with your sweater paws and
There were a lot of things that he missed while he was tour but god,
he missed you the most.
There were definitely nights when your tired crackly voice over the
phone just didn’t do justice to the fact that Calum just wanted to spend time
with you. He missed watching you bustle around the kitchen, getting ready for
work, and he missed how you stayed up ridiculously late to finish assignments.
He could keep you in the back of his mind for nearly the whole day, until it
came to the night and he was facing his hotel ceiling and there was a dark and
pressing feeling on his chest. He knew that he couldget
through this tour, but god it would have been so much easier with you.
And then, at the same time your roommate was ranting to him about her
psych professor, Calum still couldn’t believe that you waited for him. He
shifted a little on the couch, letting you settle a little more comfortably
against his chest and brushed your hair out of your face. He kissed the top of
your head, wrapping his arms around the tops of your shoulders tightly.
Your roommate’s still talking, his foot had gone to sleep, and he was
still a little jetlagged, but he was with you again.
