Tutu Tuesday: A Wili
warming up backstage. The Wili’s tutus are the same ones that were worn when the current version of Giselle premiered on April 16, 1970, making them older than most of the dancers who wear them.
Okay, this is another WIP (lol I really need to finish the others) that I intended to make as a tumblr header, but frustrated the hell out of me. Just like for all the others, I can’t seem to get the digital coloring/painting down how I want it. D:
The plate, or decorative, top of the tutu goes over a tutu’s tulle skirt. Tutu plates are often heavily embellished and most of the decoration is sewn onto the plate before it is attached to the skirt with final touches being done by hand.
Tutu Tuesday: The Flowers tutus in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland were created using innovative technology. Digital images of real flowers were scanned and digitally printed on thin sheets of organza. Once the tutu was constructed, the edges of each layer of fabric was burned to make them appear like petals found in nature.
