Today we celebrate the birthday of American fashion designer, Bonnie Cashin. As designer for her own brand and as Coach’s first Creative Director, Cashin pioneered many influential fashion concepts, including layered dressing and loose-fitting, unstructured garments. Inspired by her 1940s convertible car, she introduced the turnkey lock for Coach that is still featured on their handbags today. This short coat illustrates Cashin’s signature use of mohair, leather, and metal closures.
